Lightweight laptops have enabled revenue‑driven legal work to run reliably throughout the day
Pros and Cons
  • "My advice to others looking into using Dell Business Laptops is that they should definitely check them out; the product's good, the price is right, and the procurement and delivery, along with all the things, add up to a very well-run program."
  • "Even a small thing that I think Dell could tweak is the docking station experience, which has been a struggle; we do have some older docks that don't work so well with the newer laptops, and it could be very frustrating for attorneys when they plug in and maybe one of their two screens doesn't turn on, which we seem to see quite a bit with the older docking stations."

What is our primary use case?

Dell Business Laptops serve as the primary workstations for our attorneys at Polsinelli.

A specific example of how the attorneys use the laptops in their day-to-day work is that they handle everything on them; they edit documents, they process email, they do research on them. It's how they function, and it's how they make money.

I would add that Dell Business Laptops are their primary driver of revenue for lawyers; lawyers cannot make money without the use of a laptop and technology.

What is most valuable?

When it comes to the best features that Dell Business Laptops offers, we appreciate them to be light with big batteries for long run time and also to be productive; you don't need the most powerful laptop ever, but a laptop that will function well is important.

The specific features of long battery life and a lightweight design have positively impacted our attorneys' productivity and daily routines, as right now, Dell has a very good product, which has improved their work product and everyday life; these attorneys spend a lot of time in the air, so that's important to have that long battery life.

I would also highlight that Dell Business Laptops are pretty robust and strong for a heavy workload; they seem to hold up very well.

Dell Business Laptops have positively impacted our organization by making it easy on the procurement process; Dell Financing has helped us out, making the logistics involved with ordering Dell probably the best untalked about feature.

The procurement process or Dell Financing has benefited our organization by saving us money because we were leasing with another company, and the structure of the finance program was a much better structure that didn't continue to charge us extra fees, and we didn't have to return the laptops as we would with the other finance structure that we were involved in.

What needs improvement?

Even a small thing that I think Dell could tweak is the docking station experience, which has been a struggle; we do have some older docks that don't work so well with the newer laptops, and it could be very frustrating for attorneys when they plug in and maybe one of their two screens doesn't turn on, which we seem to see quite a bit with the older docking stations.

I believe I captured all the needed improvements.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have over twenty years of experience working in my current field.

What other advice do I have?

I think that Dell Business Laptops are doing a really good job, and I don't really have any specific example of how they could get better; we are very, very happy with the product and will continue to use Dell Business Laptops so long as they continue to work as well as they do.

I rate Dell Business Laptops overall as a nine out of ten.

I give them a nine and not a ten because there's always room for improvement, and if they were perfect, I probably wouldn't have a job.

We deploy Dell Business Laptops directly, managing them with an on-premises setup.

In my role, I own the budget for laptop procurement.

My top priorities when selecting laptops for my organization are availability, as they must be available, and usability; they must be fit for function for our attorneys.

The specific challenge or need I was trying to address when I chose Dell Business Laptops for my organization is that they are a primary driver of revenue, so we're simply trying to put the best laptop at the best cost in front of our user base.

I chose Dell over the other brands I was considering due to their long history, the support model being great, reliability, and checking a lot of the boxes in the market.

My thoughts on the security features of Dell Business Laptops are that we have all of our own security as well as some of the partners that Dell works with; for us, we are a very high security function, and we have no problems with any of the security, none whatsoever; it's all very good.

My advice to others looking into using Dell Business Laptops is that they should definitely check them out; the product's good, the price is right, and the procurement and delivery, along with all the things, add up to a very well-run program.

My overall rating for this review is nine out of ten.

Cost-focused laptops have delivered solid functionality and have supported large-scale savings
Pros and Cons
  • "We are saving several hundred dollars per device, and we have purchased roughly 1,000 devices up to this point, so we are definitely saving several thousand dollars."
  • "From an engineering perspective, Dell Business Laptops could be improved by reducing weight, as that is one of the biggest complaints we receive."

What is our primary use case?

My top priorities when selecting laptops for my company are cost, ease of use for the end-users, and functionality.

Dell Business Laptops models I am currently using are the Dell Pro Plus 14 and 16 inch, and the Dell Premium and Dell Pro Max 16 inch.

What is most valuable?

I would not say any feature specifically stands out in Dell Business Laptops. We did go back to a mid-tier model with Dell to keep it simple, which fits our needs and provides huge cost savings compared to the higher-end models such as the Yoga and the Carbon we had with Lenovo.

My experience with Dell Business Laptops has been good so far, as the experience with the actual company has been great, and their support has been good.

What needs improvement?

From an engineering perspective, Dell Business Laptops could be improved by reducing weight, as that is one of the biggest complaints we receive. They are heavy machines, but they are beefier machines with a graphics card.

For how long have I used the solution?

My company has been using Dell Business Laptops since we switched back to them in October, after using Lenovo. We used Dell Business Laptops over a decade ago.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I would not say anything specific has resulted from switching to these Dell Business Laptops, because most end-users generally do not care as long as it works. The fact that they work and function makes the end-users happy, and they do not have any complaints.

How are customer service and support?

My experience with Dell Business Laptops has been good so far, as the experience with the actual company has been great, and their support has been good.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We chose Dell Business Laptops for my company while addressing specific challenges around cost. We were looking at revitalizing cost, and Dell was too competitive to pass up, especially since Lenovo was not able to compete when it came down to cost once we started looking at competitors.

What was our ROI?

I do not have a specific number on cost savings, but I know there has been substantial savings. We are saving several hundred dollars per device, and we have purchased roughly 1,000 devices up to this point, so we are definitely saving several thousand dollars.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We chose Dell Business Laptops over other brands such as HP and Lenovo because we wanted to have an all-in-one solution. We prefer Dell's desktop solution, especially from an engineering perspective, better than HP's. Most of the reason was cost.

What other advice do I have?

If I were recommending Dell Business Laptops to a peer, I would emphasize that the cost savings is definitely there, and from a functionality standpoint, they function just as well as the Lenovos. The base model of Dell Business Laptops is much nicer and sleeker compared to the base model of Lenovo, which looks very clunky.

I would not say anything specific that Dell Business Laptops have done to support our hybrid workforce from my standpoint, as I do not know if there is anything special they have done different than what Lenovo could do, but it allows people to work remotely and internally. I would rate this review an 8 overall.

Consistent performance and proactive support have simplified long‑term device management
Pros and Cons
  • "Working with Dell Business Laptops in general is a hassle-free experience, especially their maintenance and support page."
  • "Compared to Mac, the Dell speakers are not the best on the market."

What is our primary use case?

I usually use Dell Business Laptops for work purposes because it is not very common to have them at home for personal use. Most people either use a Mac or Chromebook for studying purposes. My personal computer was a Dell XPS, and the first one I bought was in 2020. Ever since, I have been using Dell XPS.

Dell Business Laptops allow for easy management by IT staff, and they are very convenient and lightweight. It depends on the make, brand, model, and certain resources being used, but for me, speaking about the XPS model, it is very lightweight and compact. Dell XPS stands out compared to other brands in the market.

Working with Dell Business Laptops in general is a hassle-free experience, especially their maintenance and support page. The easiest thing is I can find my product, product tag, or serial number on the support website, which is very unique. Some other brands do not have the same feature, as you have to install software to detect your hardware. On the Dell support website, it is very convenient to type in or punch in the tag or serial number of my computer, and it automatically pulls up my hardware information. I have been dealing with the warranty services and the Dell tech line, and they have been very helpful, which is very unique.

What is most valuable?

The dependability of Dell Business Laptops does impress me in terms of their handling daily wear and tear. There is basically nothing special about day-to-day activity, but if someone has a laptop, it should serve its purpose. What stands out are the certain tweaks and features when you essentially need them. A laptop is a computer, but what stands out are the tweaks and things that are there when you need them. For example, the support, just getting the drivers and your computer drivers, and getting information about even the piece of hardware that you are using and how convenient it is to pull up all the information, all the repair history of this device, and also the warranty duration and all those things from the website is very convenient. I have had several other laptops, and I can say it is not as easy as it is with Dell Business Laptops, especially when it comes to support solutions.

My impression of the ProSupport service provided by Dell is that they have been very proactive. I actually did not deal with Dell support for the past four years. Before that, when I was in New York, if we reported a hardware issue, we would almost get it returned the same day, as they would pick it up the same day almost. For the past three years, I have not had any issues, fortunately.

What needs improvement?

I think Dell needs to produce more with touchscreens. The XPS model that I have has only one edition that has the touchscreen. Seeing more convertible laptops would be an added asset for Dell, especially the XPS model that I am currently using.

From the features perspective, there are not really any missing features that I would like to see included in Dell Business Laptops in the future. I also would suggest, although I do not know how that could be done, that the speakers could be enhanced. Compared to Mac, the Dell speakers are not the best on the market. I know it has to do with the pricing and everything, but if I were to suggest something, that would be one of the things to look into and enhance.

For how long have I used the solution?

Throughout my career, I have been using Dell Business Laptops for around ten to twelve years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Regarding the stability and performance of Dell Business Laptops, I have had no crashes, downtimes, or any performance issues with them. If it was not a hardware failure, which we usually just contact support about and then get it replaced, we have almost none or zero issues with the system itself. Other than hardware defects, which we always replaced as soon as possible, I have had no other issues.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I would describe the ease of integrating Dell Business Laptops within the existing IT infrastructure as something I have not found any difficulties with, fortunately. For the past four or five years, we actually migrated from using Lenovo and HP. We recently migrated to all Dell computers, not only laptops, but also desktop computers. I had a ThinkPad and I replaced it with a Dell. Luckily, ever since, it has been integrated very well. I have not found any difficulties with that at all.

How are customer service and support?

I would evaluate the customer service and technical support teams of Dell as very helpful, and we did not have to wait in a queue to get an agent. They are always available. Their virtual assistant, which was recently published in the last year or so, is very helpful as well.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I decided to go with Dell Business Laptops mainly because of the cheaper price. We got a better offer working with Dell. Also, their return service and maintenance service were phenomenal. That is why we preferred to rely basically on Dell Business Laptops. We still have some HP and Lenovos, but the main infrastructure and the main computers and laptops are Dell.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup of Dell Business Laptops was pretty easy, and one of the reasons we considered Dell is that their BIOS settings have the ability to manage and deploy the BIOS settings through YAML files, which was very convenient for us. When we purchased, for example, two hundred units or one hundred units, and we had to set the BIOS password and adjust the BIOS settings, we did not have to set it one by one. We could just fire up all the computers and then push the BIOS settings through our network. That was fairly easy for the initial deployment, and I would say Dell stands out in this aspect.

What was our ROI?

I have not seen any measurable benefits in terms of return on investment, cost saving, time saving, or efficiency improvements with Dell Business Laptops. That is more of an economical question, which I am not really aware of. It also has to do with the geographical place and has so many measures to take into consideration, including inflation. Fortunately, it has not been a challenge for at least the past three years. Things might change because of the whole crisis going on in the Middle East, but fortunately, it has stayed as it is.

What other advice do I have?

The technical support and customer service team of Dell Business Laptops deserve a rating of eight or nine on a scale of one to ten, where ten is the highest.

There is no specific piece of advice or recommendation that I may share with other organizations considering Enterprise laptops on my mind right now, but in terms of just hardware enhancements, I would suggest the convertible editions and touchscreens and also enhancing the speakers. My overall rating for this review is nine out of ten.

I do not have much data about the scalability aspect of Dell Business Laptops as I receive them from the organization and they are pretty much standard across the organization. How are customer service and support?

Customer support for Dell Business Laptops is fantastic.

I would rate the customer support a 10.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have not used any other solutions for a while. My organization has been using Dell.

How was the initial setup?

The experience with Dell Business Laptops pricing, setup cost, and licensing is really good. I do not directly control the pricing and cost in my organization, but the costing team and those people responsible appear to be happy with the costing.

What about the implementation team?

I am not directly responsible for return on investment, but time saving is one of the metrics that I share with my management team. Definitely because of Dell Business Laptops, I save a lot of time in my work and turnaround time whenever there is a requirement.

What other advice do I have?

The top priority when selecting laptops for my organization is the best battery backup, really high performance, low boot time, and less weight.

I am currently using the Inspiron and XPS models of Dell Business Laptops.

Long life is one of the important features I was addressing when I chose Dell Business Laptops for my organization so they can last for a long time for production support and save on the cost of upgrading the laptop frequently.

I chose Dell over the other brands I was considering because of the history of Dell Business Laptops. I have been very satisfied for more than 20 years using Dell Business Laptops. That is definitely a significant part of my decision.

  • "Dell Business Laptops can be improved by making them more affordable and by including a touchscreen option, which would be helpful."

What is our primary use case?

Dell Business Laptops are provided to all our employees and are also being used by our data scientists. Our data scientists use them for their day-to-day work, joining Teams meetings, managing their Outlook communications, and performing all their work on Dell Business Laptops. We have 5350s and other business laptop Dell Pro Plus 14 inches.

How has it helped my organization?

Dell Business Laptops have positively impacted our organization by helping us deliver better products. Our people are more productive using the laptops, which is definitely helping us be available and deliver better productivity.

Our AI and data scientists are using Dell Business Laptops. With Windows 7, they were getting CPU consumption of 96-97% and were not able to perform. With Dell Pro Plus Max models, they are able to use them efficiently and are more productive using these laptops. This is definitely helping our teams.

What is most valuable?

The best features Dell Business Laptops offer are the performance, which is far better than other options, easy repairability, and good service. We definitely value all of that.

Regarding easy repair and service, it helps us have a better turnaround time, we can deploy more laptops, and users are happy with Dell Business Laptops as compared to other laptops such as Surface 7.

What needs improvement?

Dell Business Laptops can be improved by making them more affordable and by including a touchscreen option, which would be helpful. Affordability and touchscreen are the main improvements needed for us.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Dell Business Laptops for three years.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have found that Dell Business Laptops are better than MS Surface 7, which we were using for some years. The performance of Dell Business Laptops was far better than Microsoft Surface 7.

Regarding the accuracy and reliability of output, the laptops are more reliable than any other laptop we have used, which is the reason we are sticking to them.

Dell Business Laptops are deployed in our organization in a hybrid on-premises and public cloud model. For our public cloud deployment, we use Azure.

My advice to others looking into using Dell Business Laptops is to go for it.

We have a business relationship with Dell other than being a customer because we have resellers. We are buying from Zones, which is a Dell authorized partner or reseller.

I rate Dell Business Laptops a 9 out of 10.

Laptops have supported mobile legal work and save time with strong battery life and pro design
Pros and Cons
  • "We have had a better partnership with Dell, and the sales representatives and everyone involved has been better to work with than the other brand we previously used."
  • "Battery life could even be improved from where it is currently."

What is our primary use case?

We predominantly use Dell Business Laptops over desktops, and that is what everybody carries around to get their work done. Our primary uses include email and web browsing. As attorneys, our team keeps track of their time by the minute. There is nothing too unique involved with their normal daily routine. Dell Business Laptops serve as the daily driver that everybody needs to get their work done.

How has it helped my organization?

We have developed a better partnership with Dell, and the sales representatives and everyone involved has been better to work with than the other brand we previously used. We are able to get things done at a faster pace. In my support role, I hear that they function better on a day-to-day basis.

What is most valuable?

Currently, we are on the 14 Pro Premium, and the weight has been a good benefit, along with the battery life. Not having to carry around a charger is more important than other features. This is probably the most important thing, especially when people are traveling or at events such as conventions where constant charging would be inconvenient.

The collaboration touchpad has been a nice feature and is an addition this year. There was a decent speed jump between the last model and this one. The laptops look better in general. Working with attorneys, they want something that looks professional when taking it to a client's office, and Dell Business Laptops fit that bill. Battery life has been a good benefit for our team, whether they are supported in the office or working from home while traveling.

What needs improvement?

Dell Business Laptops could probably be thinner, more in line with the XPS line. Battery life could even be improved from where it is currently. Non-soldered memory and more user-replaceable items would be great improvements. The laptops this year were a bump up in performance compared to previous years.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been doing support for about 21 years and have been with Polsinelli for 19 years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

There are no stability issues.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

There are no scalability issues.

How are customer service and support?

Customer support is overall pretty good.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We have had a better partnership with Dell, and the sales representatives and everyone involved has been better to work with than the other brand we previously used.

How was the initial setup?

There was a decent speed jump between the last model and this one. The laptops look better in general. Working with attorneys, they want something that looks professional when taking it to a client's office, and Dell Business Laptops fit that bill.

What about the implementation team?

There were no issues with setup cost and licensing. Pricing could always be better.

What was our ROI?

I do not have specific details, but I am positive there are fewer tickets entered on the current model. This is definitely saving money, especially when considering that our attorneys are billing by the minute.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

There were no issues with setup cost and licensing. Pricing could always be better.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We also looked at Lenovo and HP.

What other advice do I have?

I would advise anyone to look at all their options, and if Dell Business Laptops would work for them, I definitely would not have any complaints to give them. I would rate this product an 8 out of 10.

Reliable work laptop has boosted multitasking for exam monitoring and team collaboration
Pros and Cons
  • "Since using Dell Business Laptops, I have noticed significant improvements in productivity as, compared to my previous HP laptop that lagged a lot, everything with Dell Business Laptops runs smoothly during team meetings on Teams without any issues."
  • "Although the battery may not support long hours, usually about two to three hours during a five to six-hour shift, the benefits of its features outweigh its flaws, including occasional heating issues."

What is our primary use case?

I have been using Dell Business Laptops, specifically the Dell Pro 14 Premium, as a daily work machine at my work for around six months.

My main use case for Dell Business Laptops involves monitoring various classes while getting my pay for monitoring students taking exams, which requires me to have multiple tabs open continuously, as it takes quite a bit of time to complete one exam for a student, and I also need to make different Excel sheets and documents after each exam has been completed.

The monitoring process we use includes working from Google Meet with a special interface connected to classroom cameras, guiding students to designated classrooms, and maintaining an Excel sheet for attendance and performance. We manually fill the Excel sheets, splitting tasks among our large team of four to five people, and I can say that Dell Business Laptops handles multitasking very easily as we frequently switch between monitoring tasks and Excel.

Before the workday begins, we have a meeting with our team on Teams to organize our tasks, and everything works well when I use this laptop.

What is most valuable?

The best features of Dell Business Laptops that stand out to me are the RAM and SSD, as having flexible RAM is beneficial for smoothly running new software we consider for monitoring without delays, which supports us even if we move into a new environment.

The smooth performance of Dell Business Laptops allows me to switch between applications very quickly with Alt-Tab, saving considerable time, as other laptops previously caused me disruptions with lag and frequent loading issues.

Since using Dell Business Laptops, I have noticed significant improvements in productivity as, compared to my previous HP laptop that lagged a lot, everything with Dell Business Laptops runs smoothly during team meetings on Teams without any issues.

The SSD does impact our workflow, though I am not sure much about it technically. However, RAM flexibility is important because we need ample RAM to run the system smoothly; less RAM results in noticeable glitches.

I find this laptop very interesting with its good storage and durability, as I handle it roughly and have dropped it a couple of times, yet it works fine. The display quality is excellent, and although the battery may not support long hours, usually about two to three hours during a five to six-hour shift, the benefits of its features outweigh its flaws, including occasional heating issues.

What needs improvement?

Improvements for Dell Business Laptops could include better battery life, resolving heating issues, and possibly addressing pricing as similar models from competitors are available at lower prices, with seasonal discounts being appreciated.

In future models of Dell Business Laptops, I would like to see complimentary software benefits such as Excel or Microsoft 365 instead of having to pay for them, which I believe could increase demand for these laptops.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working in my current field for around five months, and if I were to include this one as well, it is six months.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The smooth performance of Dell Business Laptops allows me to switch between applications very quickly with Alt-Tab, saving considerable time, as other laptops previously caused me disruptions with lag and frequent loading issues.

Dell Business Laptops are very stable, and although I initially considered a MacBook, I preferred the access and flexibility of Dell Business Laptops option.

Since using Dell Business Laptops, I have noticed significant improvements in productivity as, compared to my previous HP laptop that lagged a lot, everything with Dell Business Laptops runs smoothly during team meetings on Teams without any issues.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I believe we deploy Dell Business Laptops in a hybrid cloud environment.

Initially, we used Azure for our hybrid cloud setup, but when I joined the team, we switched everything to AWS.

How are customer service and support?

I have not reached customer support personally, but one of my teammates faced an issue and praised the customer support for being very helpful in guiding him, which makes me believe it is really good.

Customer support is really good as one of my teammates experienced quick assistance with his laptop issue, leading me to believe that their support is dependable.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Initially, I used an HP laptop that lagged constantly, causing significant frustrations when running multiple applications which often led to the laptop not responding; switching to Dell Business Laptops resolved all these issues.

How was the initial setup?

We manually fill the Excel sheets, splitting tasks among our large team of four to five people, and I can say that Dell Business Laptops handles multitasking very easily as we frequently switch between monitoring tasks and Excel.

Before the workday begins, we have a meeting with our team on Teams to organize our tasks, and everything works well when I use this laptop.

What about the implementation team?

I think we have a sort of reseller relationship with the vendor as we just buy the products from them without being partners.

What was our ROI?

I find this laptop very interesting with its good storage and durability, as I handle it roughly and have dropped it a couple of times, yet it works fine. The display quality is excellent, and although the battery may not support long hours, usually about two to three hours during a five to six-hour shift, the benefits of its features outweigh its flaws, including occasional heating issues.

Since using Dell Business Laptops, I have noticed significant improvements in productivity as, compared to my previous HP laptop that lagged a lot, everything with Dell Business Laptops runs smoothly during team meetings on Teams without any issues.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I find the pricing of Dell Business Laptops to be slightly on the pricier side since my organization deducts the cost from my salary, but I think the features justify the price, though licensing costs seem a bit high.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Dell Business Laptops are very stable, and although I initially considered a MacBook, I preferred the access and flexibility of Dell Business Laptops option.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate Dell Business Laptops a nine out of ten.

The reason for a nine instead of a ten is mainly due to heating issues, pricing concerns, and battery life, but I still consider nine a good score because of the laptop's overall smooth performance and support for multiple applications.

I am using the Dell Pro 14 something, but I do not exactly remember the complete model name.

Although I do not know much about TPM chips, we utilize a fingerprint for two-factor authorization to log in securely and update classroom-related documents, and I think it is a good feature.

The AI-enhanced performance features, including the camera quality, which I find better than my phone, greatly influence our productivity, making meetings smoother and providing a sense of connectivity among team members.

I find Dell Business Laptops really good and I highly recommend it; I have already encouraged my family to buy it based on my experience, and none of them have regretted their purchase.

I assess the dependability of Dell Business Laptops as perfect in terms of handling daily wear and tear, as I have dropped it several times without facing any issues. My rating for Dell Business Laptops is nine out of ten.

What is our primary use case?

If done manually, it would take hours, but using Dell Business Laptops, it completes within minutes.

Dell Business Laptops positively impact my organization because their good performance increases overall productivity.

I think Dell Business Laptops may impact my company's bottom line positively through potential financial savings, as they may lead to a longer hardware life cycle and lower IT support costs, although I am not closely related to that department.

I believe there is a return on investment, which could translate into money saved.

Before choosing Dell Business Laptops, I evaluated HP; however, Dell was ultimately the better choice.

Reliable laptops have supported hybrid factory work and handled demanding daily applications
    Pros and Cons
    • "The features I find most valuable in Dell Business Laptops are their comfort and reliability, especially considering the price in the market."
    • "The only challenge that we have is with the standard Dell Business Laptops that were freezing, which prevented users from performing their work effectively."

What is our primary use case?

I currently use Dell Business Laptops models 3570 and 7280 as our Dell Business Laptops. We previously used the 5580 model, but we have replaced all of those. Now, we are using E7270 models, which are i7 processors and are very powerful laptops.

I use Dell Business Laptops differently depending on the needs of each user, so I use different versions. The only challenge that we have is with the standard Dell Business Laptops that were freezing, which prevented users from performing their work effectively. I figured out that the issue was due to insufficient memory for the usage that the users wanted to perform for their daily job.

Dell Business Laptops support a hybrid workforce effectively. My usage reflects that they can serve both as standard computers and as bring-your-own-device solutions. Dell Business Laptops support hybrid workforce situations effectively since most users are using work laptops.

    What is most valuable?

The features I find most valuable in Dell Business Laptops are their comfort and reliability, especially considering the price in the market. For our needs, as we are in a factory, they are very powerful for all the applications we use, including PowerPoint, Excel, and various heavy applications that they support.

    What needs improvement?

Regarding areas for improvement, I think it is important to note that it is not easy for Mozambican users to access repair shops for Dell Business Laptops. Most of the Dell shops I find are in South Africa. This poses a significant problem when I have a new laptop under warranty that becomes faulty or has issues, as returning it takes a long time due to the different country situation. This is especially difficult for users wanting to go through repairs or returns. Additionally, I realized when buying laptops, I did not ask users what types of applications they would be running, which is essential for determining the needed memory and storage based on application heaviness.

Regarding scalability, the storage of Dell Business Laptops is good since I am using SSDs now. However, I believe the capacity should be increased to maybe 500 gigabytes.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Dell Business Laptops for about six years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Regarding stability, I rate Dell Business Laptops at a nine based on my experience.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Regarding scalability, the storage of Dell Business Laptops is good since I am using SSDs now. However, I believe the capacity should be increased to maybe 500 gigabytes.

How are customer service and support?

The technical support for Dell Business Laptops is rated ten by me, and it is very good.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

When I compare Dell Business Laptops with other solutions such as HP, I think Dell Business Laptops are the most powerful, particularly in processing power. I am not too familiar with Lenovo. We have only used different models from Dell and HP, but in my view, Dell Business Laptops are more powerful in processing and power.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The pricing for Dell Business Laptops is not cheap, but it is reliable according to our business when compared with others.

What other advice do I have?

Dell Business Laptops are secure, and I can confirm that they provide a secure environment. I rate the security of Dell Business Laptops at a nine on a scale of one to ten. I rate this review overall as a ten.

Remote work has been supported smoothly and service experience consistently delivers for us
    Pros and Cons
    • "Overall, the user experience tends to be better than I have seen with Lenovo and HP, and the overall ecosystem is definitely better than most, which I do appreciate."
    • "I cannot share what features I have found most valuable because nothing spectacular stands out."

What is our primary use case?

I do not select laptops for my organization; I pick my laptop for myself. I am currently using the Latitude 7455, the ARM-based laptop, which is a Dell Business Laptop.

    What is most valuable?

Dell Business Laptops have supported our organization's hybrid workforce as we are 100% remote, so I do not hear anybody complaining. They are working as expected. I am the exception because I bought the ARM-based laptop. Anytime they try to push out images or updates, I am always the exception outside that rule because the platform is such that I am the only user in the entire organization that has the ARM-based system. I am unique and special. I am a unicorn. But I am also an absolute pain in the butt for our IT guys, and I understand that. They understand that. We have a mutual understanding with each other, so it is fine for what it is.

    What needs improvement?

When it comes to how Dell Business Laptops can be improved, I am a huge fan of right to repair. User-accessible components are obviously going to be more prevalent in the business class laptops, which is what we usually standardize on. Higher levels of modularity would be a nice to have. Repairability and being able to pop a screen out whenever a screen breaks because users drop it is important. Keyboards fail, and being able to have that level of just repairability has always been my key focus. This is why unfortunately in my personal use, I do not use a laptop for my personal use. It is because I understand the platform. I respect it for what it is, but that would be a nice to have. I understand there is a cost behind that, but if you are selling a premium product, it would be nice to be able to fix the machine when it breaks.

For how long have I used the solution?

I do not really know the proper answer for how long our organization has been using Dell Business Laptops, simply because everybody gets to pick their own platform. I have been using them since I started with the company five years ago. The business has been around for fourteen years, so it has been on and off. I am sure there are individuals that use the product, but on the whole, when I came on, unfortunately, we were standardized, standardized in quotes, on HP laptops to mixed reviews, of course. There has been no standardization in our organization, so I cannot really speak to that, unfortunately.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

When choosing Dell Business Laptops for our organization, the specific challenge or need we were trying to address is obviously having a disaggregated set of vendors supporting client hardware in the environment. That is a challenge that is a self-inflicted wound, which we understand. Since our entire organization is remote, the issues are small. They are on the individual. We do not have mass launches. We use Intune and CoPilot on all that whenever we can to help with deployment on all the platforms across all manufacturers. It is what it is.

How are customer service and support?

When things go south, the service and support on the backend being as easy to work with as it has been is something I really appreciate. I want to give a shout out to those ProSupport folks. That has really been the thing that really wins me over with that kind of experience. That is why I have been able to maintain the mentality of maintaining Dell Business Laptops as that premier go-to for my personal use whenever I need it.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

What made me choose Dell over the other brands I was considering is a long-term relationship, so maybe there is some loyalty there. I hate to say it was the price.

What other advice do I have?

I cannot share what features I have found most valuable because nothing spectacular stands out. It is a Windows laptop. We run Teams. We run most of the Microsoft software portfolio. There is no shining star, unfortunately. We did switch from Teams off of GoToMeeting and Zoom, which is what we were using before, so that part of the product has been fine. But the hardware is hardware. It is interchangeable. In our environment, I hate to say it is expendable, but it is. That is just the way we operate, unfortunately.

I really cannot share my thoughts on the security features of Dell Business Laptops because we have a dedicated security expert who handles the actual hardening of the laptops themselves. As far as I am aware, I do not believe he uses any of the toolsets within what Dell offers simply because we have to have a third-party standard platform that we can push across all our vendors.

Since we really have not switched to Dell Business Laptops, I really cannot speak to that.

I would rate Dell Business Laptops an eight out of ten, with one being the worst and ten being the best. They are definitely higher in the realm of what we see and what I use. Overall, the user experience tends to be better than I have seen with Lenovo and HP. Unfortunately, every generation, it is sometimes hit or miss within the generations themselves, but as far as the entire portfolio is concerned over the years that I have seen it in the market, they just seem to have a higher level of affluence of actually being able to get the job done and work. The idea is the baseline of it working is great, but also that is the bare necessity. No one complains when it works. You only come across it when it is a problem. The level is so out there as far as the user experience. I love the hands-off approach and the automation packets, just being able to self-deploy these things is great. That is less touch for my guys and myself. Being a technical resource for my organization, folks do come to me for help even though I am not a client specialist, which is awkward, but whatever, I am a nerd and I can handle it. It is fine. The overall ecosystem is definitely better than most, which I do appreciate.

Everything when recommending Dell Business Laptops to a peer echoes from the fact that I used to work at Dell back in the day. I sold Dell laptops in the early two-thousands. It was a fun time. Vostro was an interesting product line for what it was and all those other brands. It is ease of use. It works. The brand loyalty does play a pretty strong role in that. The name does speak well, which is great. It makes the conversation easier at times. It is always that user experience and that human touch that really wins it over. Every group of fans has outliers. I have got guys that live and die by Lenovo. I have got guys that they love their HP laptops. For whatever reason, I do not know. Every laptop I have had from HP has been a mess. Over the years that I have been using them, it has been a good solid product.

What I would tell another IT leader or buyer who is on the fence about choosing Dell for their commercial fleet is that my mantra is keep it simple. Make it idiot-proof as best as you can. Make the user experience as low-touch as possible. From what I have seen and from the offerings, that seems to be the marching forward push. The name change last year was a bit of a mess. Some of the representatives are kind of struggling with that, but that is just learning the product line, which is a skill issue. That is not a reflection of the product line itself. Trying to convince someone that is just on the fence, it is all ease of use and standardization. You have to pick a flavor. Realistically, there is no winning champion statement to be had. It is that this is a good product line. It has been proven in the market and has been for decades. We usually win by try-and-buys. We get them in the hands of the users and give them to the field and understand that experience. I hate to say it, but steer them away from the ARM-based laptop unless they just want it for curiosity's sake. Really just let them know that as an organization, once you standardize on it, the ease of use, the mechanisms in place, and the tools available to them will make that user experience easier. It will make it easier for the IT department. I am sure other competitors in the market are going to say the same kind of mantra. I have seen it more with Dell than I have with other vendors. Speaking from my experiences, that is really going to be the messaging forward for that product line. As a caveat, I am not a client specialist. I have not sold laptops in twenty years.

To sum up my experience with Dell Business Laptops, when they work well, they work great. All the issues I have with it, honestly, are my own fault because I break things. Being able to resist a user as myself has been pretty phenomenal, which I do appreciate. When things go south, the service and support on the backend being as easy to work with as it has been is really what wins me over. I want to give another shout out to those ProSupport folks. That is why I have been able to maintain the mentality of maintaining Dell Business Laptops as that premier go-to for my personal use whenever I need it. It is always on the short list of vendors when I talk about vendors to sell for those kinds of product lines. I would rate Dell Business Laptops an eight out of ten overall.
