"A great solution for storing and searching large volumes of documents with easy access.""Integration within the solution is very good.""WebCenter's interface is very user-friendly.""Oracle integrates well with other products to cover Big Data.""The WebCenter Content is its most valuable feature. After we update a document in WebCenter Content, it can be update automatically in our intranet.""You can move workloads in between sub-servers so that you don't overload a portion of the server.""It's a very scalable solution and the performance is pretty good. The scalability, in my opinion, is the biggest advantage."

More Oracle WebCenter Pros →

"It offers an easy way to store unstructured content (.pdf, .doc, .xls, images) and to tag them with metadata.""It has helped us with storing all the documents, which means that people are not going to intervene. There is a way of extracting knowledge within documentation and tracking it. There are knowledge assets for where documentation is stored, indexed and searchable through SharePoint.""The access control is definitely a good feature. We also appreciate the improvements they've made to the online applications, where multiple users can work on the same documents simultaneously. Everything syncs automatically.""Tech support tops off as excellent.""It has an easy to distribute administration capability, and can also scale to meet a large number of future needs.""It is very stable.""Staff training is reduced because learning basic SharePoint is not as complicated as an EDRMS.""The most valuable features are the Integrations, web site, and search."

Cons
"The integration with other products needs to be improved."

More M-Files Cons →

"Does not seem to be totally compatible with Windows 10 as of our current version.""The solution should be offered in Persian. Right now, our version is in English, and there's a bit of a language barrier between the users and the product.""There are many document management systems that offer pretty much the same functionalities but at a lower price. The product as such is pretty good. However, the pricing is not comparable. They need to adjust their pricing to be more competitive on the market.""WebCenter requires a lot of design effort to upload content to our regular system.""This solution needs to support translation into the Arabic language.""I would like them to add more Web 2.0 features.""Its functions need more stability.""The speed of the backup should be enhanced."

More Oracle WebCenter Cons →

"Annoyingly, many new Office 365 apps always end up being only US locale for the first year of their life. Microsoft needs to realise that most of their customers are not in the USA.""More hints and make it more user-customizable.""It will fully use your system resources.""I would like a simpler, more cost-effective solution for connecting data sources with workflows and BI tools, or data mining tools.""It does not integrate despite being part of the Microsoft family.""We'd like to be able to upload from MS Excel to deploy tasks and use drop-down lists to collect further information.""The way to change the version of the files in SharePoint should be improved. The method of synchronizing files from local to the cloud can also use improvement.""This solution would benefit from the implementation of enhanced online forms and template development capabilities."

At Mediacurrent we often get requests to compare Drupal to other platforms used for intranet sites and social business platforms (like https://dev.twitter.com/ for example). This is often referred to as “Social Business Software”, which has grown in popularity in recent years. I decided to do a round-up of a couple of the more well known platforms and compare their products to Drupal. In this roundup we will be comparing Jive, Sharepoint and Drupal Commons. Drupal Commons is a popular distribution created by Acquia to compete with some of these other proprietary platforms. There are many other options out there, commercial and otherwise, to compare with Drupal but I want to focus on Jive and Sharepoint for a couple of reasons. I chose Jive because it is one of the leading competitors in this space in respect to market share. Next, I chose Sharepoint because I have some history with Sharepoint. This experience dates back to when I built www.adhe.edu with Sharepoint 2007 a few years ago. I subsequently wrote this blog entry about my experience shortly after joining Mediacurrent. This roundup will also act as a refresher for those who read my original “Drupal vs. Sharepoint” blog. Yammer, which was recently bought by Microsoft and is the tool we currently use for office communication will also get some mentions throughout this article. As I went through and tested each of these tools I used three main criteria in my evaluation Cost Ability to Customize Overall features… Read more →
