We use the solution to backup servers.
IT Administrator at a logistics company with 10,001+ employees
Highly scalable, amazing features, stable and can be used from anywhere
Pros and Cons
- "I would recommend this solution. It's easy and fast, you don't need to be on-premises you can use it from anywhere."
- "There could be some changes done to the action page to simplify it."
What is our primary use case?
What is most valuable?
There are many features I like such as the ability to run favourite scans multiply times a day. If the solution finds any malware, for example, it will do the actions automatically. This limits the amount of action a user needs to do.
It is amazing how many ways you can do the recovery, you can recover by image, ISO, and files.
You can create a new VM, via the cloud, using the same image backup and network settings, that is very easy to configure
The Business Continuity Plan is all in one and easy to use, unlike competitors that require you to know more detail going forward. It is much more user-friendly.
What needs improvement?
There could be some changes done to the action page to simplify it. For example, when you want to do any actions with VM there could be more informative on the actions being done. Currently, there are just icons with no description of what the option does. The last improvement I would like to see is more information on the stages you are currently on and continually as you go through the process.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using the solution for two months.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?
I am new to the solution but I did some testings and It was very smooth. The new dashboard I created was working fine. There were no problems with stability.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
You can have hundreds of machines running no problems, the scalability is very good.
How are customer service and support?
I called technical support once or twice, I did not speak to them very much but they responded right away.
How was the initial setup?
Everything was straightforward in setting up the solution, it took approximately 10 minutes. With some of the other competitors, the process could take a week.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
With the price, there is a certain limitation on terabytes but no limits on how many servers or how many services you can run.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
I tested Uni-Trends and Acronis at the same time and I went with Acronis because it impressed me.
What other advice do I have?
I would recommend this solution. It's easy and fast, you don't need to be on-premises you can use it from anywhere. You can backup whatever you want, anything from your mobile phone to your OneDrive.
Based on my limited two months of experience with the product, the solution is perfect for me.
I rate Acronis Backup Cloud a ten out of ten.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
Public Cloud

Director/Founder at a tech services company with 11-50 employees
Centralized device management, automatic backup schedule, and good technical support
Pros and Cons
- "The most valuable features are the automated backup, and that you are able to manage all of your devices centrally."
- "I would like to have support for agentless backup, where you don't have to install an agent on the host."
What is our primary use case?
I am a managed service provider and we provide this solution to small and medium-sized companies for backing up their data.
The client will have local backup copies on their premises, and a backup copy of that in the cloud. At times, the clients will back up their data directly to the cloud from their end devices. The small companies prefer to do this without having a local installation of Acronis.
What is most valuable?
The most valuable features are the automated backup, and that you are able to manage all of your devices centrally. You are able to create a different account for the different clients so that everyone is backing up on the same server in their own environment.
What needs improvement?
I would like to have support for agentless backup, where you don't have to install an agent on the host.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been selling Acronis Backup Cloud for six months.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
Scalability is good because there are no limits as to the number of agents you can have backing up data. Our clients are small and medium-sized companies with an average of 40 users.
How are customer service and technical support?
Technical support is good. They are quite responsive and they are able to guide you when you have any technical issues.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
Prior to Acronis, I used to use Cobian Backup. It had a final release several years ago.
Cobian did not have a lot of features. For example, it didn't have those related to cloud-based backups or knowledge of federated accounts.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup is not complex. I would say that it is quite easy and simple to do.
If you are setting up a cloud backup then the clients can be backing up their data within minutes, or perhaps within an hour. The speed at which the initial backup completes is dependent on the bandwidth that they have available, but in terms of getting it up and running, it can be done within an hour.
What other advice do I have?
I would rate this solution an eight out of ten.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Easy to use, performs well, and provides built-in ransomware protection
Pros and Cons
- "The most valuable features are its ease of use, the speed, and its got a reasonable amount of granular control."
- "I would like to see enhancements made to the security."
What is our primary use case?
This is the file and data backup solution that we use.
What is most valuable?
The most valuable features are its ease of use, the speed, and its got a reasonable amount of granular control. It also has another big advantage, which is built-in protection from ransomware.
What needs improvement?
I would like to see enhancements made to the security.
For how long have I used the solution?
We have been using Acronis Backup Cloud for about six months.

I would rate this solution a ten out of ten.

Easy to implement but technical support is not good and the pricing model is poor
Pros and Cons
- "The ease of implementation is the solution's most valuable feature."
- "Technical support needs improvement. They are too slow to respond, and when it comes to backups, it's critical to deal with issues quickly."
What is our primary use case?
In general, the solution is primarily used to externalize backups. Most customers don't want to take an active part in the maintenance or verifying of everything daily, so they revert the backup process to us and we use the solution to ensure it's happening regularly and properly.
What is most valuable?
The ease of implementation is the solution's most valuable feature.
What needs improvement?
With the previous version, it was possible when having a cloud solution, to back up the data on-premises. Now it is no longer possible, and I don't really know why. When we have the cloud subscription we have to pay to have on-premises capabilities. That is not really ideal for customers.
To make the solution better, the pricing should be a big consideration. When I'm talking about pricing, I'm addressing specifically the African market. Most of the time pricing causes our customers to back away.
Technical support needs improvement. They are too slow to respond, and when it comes to backups, it's critical to deal with issues quickly.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
We have some bugs, but the solution is stable. Even if the support part of the solution is a weak point because I find that the support is not really reactive. We had some bugs, but on average, it is stable.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
The solution is scalable but the pricing model is not good for my point of view. If we integrate the pricing part with the scalability capabilities, it is not really great for us. We are trying to figure out if this problem is due to the partner we are working with or something else.
How are customer service and technical support?
Technical support isn't great. Out of five, I'd rate them at two.
Most of the time when we contact technical support, they take a long time to respond and give us an answer. Time is money. We cannot afford to wait so long when there's a problem. When there's a problem with backup, it means that we are at risk, and we need to sort it out rapidly.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
We previously used Veeam Cloud Connect. We still use it for some customers. The customer decides which solutions they choose to use and we, as integrators, implement it for them.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup is straightforward. It's very easy.
The amount of time deployment takes depends on how the architecture was designed previously. It depends on the studies, etc., which are supposed to be taken into consideration before the implementation. If everything has been sized and studied well, implementation, depending on the size of the existing infrastructure, could take from a few hours to many days. In summary, it really depends on the size of the company, the workload which should be taken into consideration, and how the study has been put in place before starting the implementation.
You only need one person for deployment and maintenance.
What about the implementation team?
We handled the implementation ourselves.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
The pricing depends on the customer. Most of the time, the first year is prepaid. After that year, some customers choose to switch to monthly billing, while others continue to pay yearly. There are extra costs as well, for example, for technical support.
What other advice do I have?
I've been using the solution for two years. We're an integrator and we deploy the solution for our customers who typically use the cloud deployment model.
It would not be the first solution I would direct a customer to, but this solution has many impressing features.
In our market, technically the solution is good, but we also have to look at the ecosystem, the pricing policy, and such things. I would tell customers to watch out, to pay attention to the pricing model and prepare for it in their budget before moving to this solution. If this fits the customer's budget, they can go ahead. Technically, the solution will fit their needs. However, the way the solution prices on-premises versus cloud deployment models, if a customer wants both, they really need to pay attention to how the pricing will be calculated.
I'd rate the solution six out of ten. Technically, the product is good, but the pricing and technical support are not ideal.

Provides diverse solutions including multiple replications of backup data
Pros and Cons
- "One of my favorite features of the Acronis backup product is the ability to replicate the backups. Backup data can be replicated to a second, third, or even fourth data source."
- "One of the areas where the product could be improved is its online cloud backup. I do appreciate the way the product is easy to navigate, however, sometimes I have difficulty managing the security permissions on my backups."
What is our primary use case?
As a managed IT services provider, we have a wide array of clients with very diverse backup needs. These clients range from small mom and pop shops to individual users to retailers to Fortune 500 companies. Each of these clients has a vastly different approach when it comes to backups.
What is most valuable?
We chose Acronis as our backup solution because of the diversity in the types of backups it can provide.
One of my favorite features of the Acronis backup product is the ability to replicate the backups. Backup data can be replicated to a second, third, or even fourth data source.
What needs improvement?
One of the areas where the product could be improved is its online cloud backup. I do appreciate the way the product is easy to navigate, however, sometimes I have difficulty managing the security permissions on my backups.
For how long have I used the solution?
More than five years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
While using Acronis I have not encountered any issues with stability.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
Acronis backup scales very well, and I use it in many different cases from single users to Fortune 500 companies.
How are customer service and technical support?
The level of technical support is very good. I would give them a nine out of 10.
Part of the reason we selected Acronis as our backup solution is their amazing support and installation. It is easy to deploy products anywhere in the world, across our wide variety of clients, and the support is right there for us if we need help with anything.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
I have used other solutions, such as Norton Backup and Arcserve. Acronis is by far the most cost-effective.
How was the initial setup?
The setup could not be easier. It installs without fail in 100 percent of my setups.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
I advise my clients to seriously look at the cloud offering because the hardware to have a good onsite backup is still pricey.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
I did not look at any other products.
What other advice do I have?
I would suggest to anyone using this product to take advantage of the support and the advanced features such as replication of their backup set.

The agent, which is installed on the system, can do Quality of Service
Pros and Cons
- "I do not need to touch my firewall, especially when it is managed by the provider and takes ages to do a single NAT."
- "The agent, which is installed on the system, can do Quality of Service."
- "The logs could be better. Logs through the website are just too simple and basic."
- "For you to actually see the full logs, you have to use additional tools or even contact support so they can pull them with own tools."
What is our primary use case?
Basically running backup plans for servers (daily basis), workstations (managers) and Office 365 (inbox).
How has it helped my organization?
I am from Perú, and IT departments are not very advanced here. Basically, it is way better than whatever we are used to using, tapes, etc.
What is most valuable?
I would say compression, which was about 95% on the databases. The fact that the agent, which is installed on the system, can do Quality of Service. Therefore, I do not need to touch my firewall, especially when it is managed by the provider and takes ages to do a single NAT. I would only imagine how long will it take for them to do a QoS rule.
What needs improvement?
The logs could be better. Logs through the website are just too simple and basic.
For you to actually see the full logs, you have to use additional tools or even contact support so they can pull them with own tools.
For how long have I used the solution?
One to three years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
Probably the connectivity between the agent to the cloud console, because for some reason, sometimes I need to refresh.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
No issues.
How are customer service and technical support?
It is good. Basically, they can do the whole deployment, you just need to provide them remote access.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
I personally have used corporate solutions, such as Dropbox, Veritas, and Veeam. Veeam is good as well.
How was the initial setup?
The only complicated part was talking to my FortiGate provider to allow the ports.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
I have been using pay as you go with Acronis, so the price is good.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
I personally evaluated Dropbox, Veritas, and Veeam. Veeam is good as well.
What other advice do I have?
Make sure to set the download for the right client. Acronis has multiples, especially for the SQL.
