Good stability with good technical support and fair pricing
Pros and Cons
  • "The product offers good stability."
  • "It's hard to predict the usage on the storage. I need to make some estimates for customers in terms of how much storage will be needed on the cloud, and this is always tricky. It would be helpful if they could help us estimate storage or simplify the estimation portion."

What is our primary use case?

We primarily use the solution to backup our Office 365.

What is most valuable?

Overall, the solution is okay.

The way the system is built is very good.

The product offers good stability.

The solution is scalable.

We've found the technical support to be helpful.

The pricing of the solution is very reasonable. It's not expensive.

What needs improvement?

It's hard to predict the usage on the storage. I need to make some estimates for customers in terms of how much storage will be needed on the cloud, and this is always tricky. It would be helpful if they could help us estimate storage or simplify the estimation portion.

They could work on their SaaS model to make it a bit more appealing.

For how long have I used the solution?

While the company has always engaged with Veeam, I've just become familiar with the solution over the last two months.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is quite stable. We don't have issues with bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze. It's excellent.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution is scalable. You can expand it out if you need to. It's not a problem.

Currently, in our company, we have about 200 users on the solution. We do plan to increase usage. However, it will depend on the requirements of the organization.

How are customer service and support?

We've dealt with technical support in the past. Typically, we've had good outcomes. We're pretty satisfied with their level of support. They are knowledgeable and responsive.

How was the initial setup?

I'm not an engineer. I didn't really handle the initial setup. I can't really speak to if the implementation is straightforward or complex. I'm not sure how long the deployment takes either. I wasn't hands-on in that respect. That said, it's my understanding that, overall, it should be pretty simple to execute.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The pricing of the solution is reasonable. It's not too expensive.

What other advice do I have?

I'm not a user. I'm a solution provider.

We'd recommend the solution to other organizations. Overall, on a scale from one to ten, I'd rate it at an eight.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Good interface and great support but needs a simpler initial setup
Pros and Cons
  • "The support offered by both Veeam and our third party supplier is excellent."
  • "The solution could offer better reporting."

What is our primary use case?

We use Veeam to make backups in our system, including backups for Office 365 and other applications.

What is most valuable?

The time it takes to make a backup is very good. It's the most valuable aspect of the solution. It really doesn't take a long time. It's very efficient.

The interface on the solution is very good.

The support offered by both Veeam and our third party supplier is excellent.

The solution is very easy to use. It's not complicated at all.

I can add the backup to my virtual machine with Veeam integrators and it's good.

Generally, it's easy to integrate Veem to other products.

What needs improvement?

It would help if the initial setup was easier. It's a bit complex. When the next upgrade to the solution happens, they should work to adjust this.

The solution could offer better reporting.

For how long have I used the solution?

We've been using the solution for two years at this point.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

My impression of the stability of the solution is positive. We've been satisfied with is. We find the product to be reliable and haven't experienced bugs or glitches and don't find that it unexpectedly crashes.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The scalability is good. We have no complaints. If a company needs to expand outward, it can do so easily.

We do plan to increase the usage of the solution. As it is, we do use it every day.

How are customer service and technical support?

We have a third party that offers us support, and we've found them to be very good. Veeam also offers support, so if we ever need assistance we're well covered. We're covered seven days a week, so we can always get assistance no matter the day. We've been satisfied with the level of support we've received.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I didn't previously use a different solution before using Veeam.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is a bit complex.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The solution isn't too expensive. It's comparable to other competitors on the market. I'd say the pricing is average.

What other advice do I have?

We're just a customer. We don't have a business relationship with Veeam.

We use the latest version of the solution. We try to consistently keep it up to date.

I'd recommend the solution. It's worked well for us.

I'd rate the solution overall at a seven out of ten. It's easy to use, however, the initial setup could be simpler. Still, for us, we don't have too many complaints about the product overall.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

On-premises

Good replication functionality, but better documentation and an automatic DR feature would be helpful
Pros and Cons
  • "The most valuable feature of this solution is the replication functionality."
  • "They need more documentation, awareness, and assistance."

What is our primary use case?

The primary use case of this solution is for backup and replication of virtual machines, and the backup of MSL.

The deployment model was on-premises.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature of this solution is the replication functionality.

What needs improvement?

The implementation of this solution needs to be improved. They add multiple features and new versions, which makes it very difficult to follow. They need more documentation, awareness, and assistance.

In the next release, an additional feature would be to have the disaster recovery where the data could restore automatically.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using this solution for two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

This solution is stable, but we had a problem with the backup until we installed a data protector. After that, we have not experienced any problems with the backup.

How are customer service and technical support?

We have not needed any technical support, but If you are implementing the solution the assistance is available if needed.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate this solution a six out of ten.

Offers good replication, stability, and performance
Pros and Cons
  • "I have used the technical support a few times and they've been reasonably helpful."
  • "It would be a great improvement to be able to recover cover a VM straight to on-prem."

What is our primary use case?

We use this solution primarily for backup purposes. We use the on-prem deployment model of this solution.

What is most valuable?

The replication option that this solution offers has been quite good. In the next version, they're going to restore some newer capabilities. It's a bit convoluted but I think moving forward, there will be some nice features.

What needs improvement?

It would be a great improvement to be able to recover cover a VM straight to on-prem.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using this solution for four years now.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I haven't had any issues with the stability of the program so far.

How are customer service and technical support?

I have used the technical support a few times and they've been reasonably helpful.

What was our ROI?

It is difficult to say what our ROI is. The company has been using the program for about 4 years, but I've only been working here for the past 6 months.

What other advice do I have?

The program has been working really well for us. On a scale of one to ten, my rating will be an eight.

Reliable solution for backing up Office 365 email
Pros and Cons
  • "This is an easy-to-install easy-to-use solution for backing up Office 365 email."
  • "While there really is nothing wrong with the product some small improvements in the interface could make it even easier to use."

What is our primary use case?

Our primary use for this solution in our company is for backing up emails.

How has it helped my organization?

It provides us with a more reliable solution for backing up Office 365 emails.

What is most valuable?

It is an easy-to-use solution for what we need it to do. A simple program that accomplishes exactly what we need.

What needs improvement?

I think the program is very good as is and we get everything that we need from it, but everything can use improvement. For me, the only obvious part of the program that could use improvement would be in the interface. If it were possible to make it more user-friendly it would be even more simple to use, and I think they can do some improvement. The backup is okay and does what it is expected to do.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using it about a year and a half.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

We are satisfied with the stability for the most part. We had some problems a few times, but the most time it's stable. I would say it is stable more than 90 percent of the time.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I do think the program is scalable as it has a lot of options for improving volume and processing. Right now we haven't had much reason to scale it ourselves and just maintain it. We use two people to take care of the product. Even if you had much heavier use than we do you would not need more than two people.

How are customer service and technical support?

I have not had any reason to contact technical support. As far as I know and from what I hear they're really good at supporting their products.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We previously used a solution from CodeTwo that was a suite of backup tools. We decided to change what we were using because we realized that there could likely be other solutions that were better. We found that Veeam was easier to use and it's more stable.

The main difference between the products is the stability. The other product wasn't really stable in the hybrid environment which is what prompted us to look at other solutions that would be satisfactory. The new product is really stable whether we use it in the hybrid cloud or on-premises, so I think that's the main difference and it is a better solution for our clients.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is straightforward and pretty simple. In total, it took about one or two hours to do the installation and configuring. Most products take more time so comparably it was not so long. It's an easy solution to maintain and I think that really one person should be enough to install and monitor it in most situations.

What about the implementation team?

We are a reseller, so we do the deployments and implementations ourselves with our own technical team. Being a reseller is part of the reason we have two on our maintenance team.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The pricing for the product is okay. It's not cheap but I would not say it is expensive either. I think the pricing is fair considering the competition and that the product works easily.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Besides the fact that we were already using CodeTwo, we didn't evaluate other products. Because we already know the product was also made specifically for backing up Office 365 email, Veeam was reviewed well and it was the only one we evaluated.

What other advice do I have?

Other people who are considering this solution will probably be good to go with it if it solves what they want it to do. Even without improvement, the program is really simple to use. I think sometimes it takes a long time to learn new programs and it really shouldn't be necessary when you are doing a simple thing. People who are in doubt should just try it to compare with other solutions because it is really good. They will find out quickly how it compares.

At the moment I think we have all we need for backing up our Office 365 emails reliably, we have a solid solution with this product so I don't see any reason it would have to change.

On a scale from one to ten, where one is the worst and ten is the best, I would rate this product as a nine. It is very near to getting a ten, but it isn't perfect. I give it a nine instead of a ten to leave the company a little room to improve the product interface.
