Provides us with the key to digital transformation, but development life cycle could be shorter
Pros and Cons
  • "UiPath Academy courses... are our entire training platform. We brought people who are not IT-savvy, complete laymen who were not in IT at all, into our platform of technology. To do that conversion, the Academy had to be very strong."
  • "The development life cycle using Automation Anywhere is shorter. With UiPath, the development life cycle is slightly longer, but it is not a major issue."

What is our primary use case?

We have many use cases, but the primary ones are on the finance side for intelligent automation. We use it for system updates and system manipulations.

How has it helped my organization?

UiPath has improved our organization in terms of

  • quality
  • accuracy
  • reduction in headcount
  • working around the clock
  • consistency.

It is the primary key to our digital transformation. And we have been able to do so without expensive or complex application upgrades or IT application support.

Our accuracy and compliance have improved manyfold. And in terms of employee time, our benchmark is to save three employees per bot, but we have achieved something around 2.1 employees per bot.

We are a consortium with multi-discipline businesses, and we are able to use UiPath automation across all our sectors, but it has mainly helped us with shared services.

What is most valuable?

UiPath enables us to implement end-to-end automation, and that is something that is important to us.

Of course, we have used the UiPath Academy courses, and that has been very handy and very useful. That is what we have used to significantly build up our capabilities. They are our entire training platform. We brought people who are not IT-savvy, complete laymen who were not in IT at all, into our platform of technology. To do that conversion, the Academy had to be very strong. It was not only the UiPath Academy that helped with their training, it was Microsoft PowerApps as well. The two of them together created this magic.

What needs improvement?

One functionality we would like to see is OCR.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using UiPath for the last three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It's very stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is scalable.

How are customer service and support?

We have not had technical support from UiPath.

How was the initial setup?

It's a very straightforward deployment, but any time we update the deployment, it becomes a bit complex.

We have a few VMs on-premises that we use for Orchestrator and the machines to run the bots, but the queue to run the bots is in the cloud. Most of our applications are on the cloud.

Implementing the first set of activities took us about nine weeks. We engaged a consulting party to identify the platform we should use. While we were doing that, we did opportunity assessments across the organization, to identify the processes that would be most valuable to automate.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

UiPath is slightly more expensive than Automation Anywhere, from what I understand. But the pricing comparison is a mix between the two because UiPath attended bots are quite cheap compared to Automation Anywhere. If you bring in UiPath's unattended bots, that's expensive.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We have used Automation Anywhere, Blue Prism, and now UiPath. We had to decide among the three, but ultimately, there was no choice for us because Automation Anywhere and Blue Prism did not respond to some of our systems. This was especially true when doing screen grabs, specifically on the AS400. So it was a no-brainer for us.

I don't see a major problem with UiPath's ease of use, but I'm not a developer, I'm a decision-maker. But honestly, the development life cycle using Automation Anywhere is shorter. With UiPath, the development life cycle is slightly longer, but it is not a major issue.

What other advice do I have?

The most important thing is to follow the best practices from UiPath in building the bot processes. What happens is, when application upgrades happen, if you haven't done it in the right way, your applications will fall apart. You have to make sure that the screen-grabbing methodology and referencing are done according to the best practices of UiPath.

Helps eliminate human error, saves time, and is easy to use
Pros and Cons
  • "The RE framework is a valuable feature because it offers the possibility of working with a large amount of data without the need to transmit all the information."
  • "AI can become more intelligent to facilitate the ease of automation."

What is our primary use case?

I work for a telecommunications company, which involves various processes in different areas. For all the company's needs, I primarily utilize UiPath. We have employed it to automate tasks such as packet installation, software attribute utilization, and coupon allocation. These are time-consuming tasks that involve a significant amount of data, making it impractical for a single person to handle. Therefore, we assign these tasks to a bot to expedite the process.

How has it helped my organization?

Building automation using UiPath is straightforward. As a developer, I have colleagues who want to learn simple automation quickly, and UiPath is one of the best solutions for this, thanks to its tutorials and the UiPath Academy courses.

Our organization is beginning the implementation of end-to-end automation using UiPath. The implementation is easy and enables users to interact with the testing, thus saving a significant amount of time.

The UiPath User Community is one of the best aspects of the solution. The community is extensive, and everyone is willing to assist by providing information and guiding us in the correct direction.

We quickly realized the benefits of UiPath once we implemented it, including cost savings. We began automating areas where we encountered difficulties, and within the initial three months of automation, we started witnessing the advantages. After completing the necessary courses, we were able to automate quickly.

UiPath has helped our organization minimize its on-premises footprint, which is important for the implementation of the RPA in our day-to-day activities.

I have taken several UiPath Academy courses, and they are easy to follow.

UiPath has accelerated our digital transformation, leading to reduced costs and time. Our customer IT team has provided invaluable assistance throughout the process.

UiPath has eliminated human errors when dealing with large amounts of data. One of the first automation we needed to have done was one that, if not processed at that time, would risk losing money, time, or even a partner. So what we did was automate the task that consumed most of our time. By the end of the day, we were able to complete the task and ensure all the client information was corrected.

UiPath has freed up our employees' time, allowing them to focus on more important tasks.

What is most valuable?

The RE framework is a valuable feature because it offers the possibility of working with a large amount of data without the need to transmit all the information.

What needs improvement?

AI can become more intelligent to facilitate the ease of automation.

I would like UiPath to support the Python language. It is easy to develop in Python, and there are thousands of libraries available that I can use within its environment. Such support would greatly expand my capabilities for performing my RPA activities.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using UiPath for one year.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I encountered some stability issues initially when I had limited knowledge. However, I now find it to be quite stable. UiPath stands out as one of the best options in our market when it comes to stability, thanks to its frequent updates and bug fixes.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

UiPath truly emphasizes the capability to scale.

How are customer service and support?

The technical support is good and has responded to all of our questions.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

How was the initial setup?

The deployment was handled by two people from our IT group.

What was our ROI?

UiPath offers a significant return on investment due to the rapid realization of its benefits.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

UiPath is reasonably priced for being a leader in the market.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I have evaluated Laiye UiBot, Hover Corporation, and OpenRPA.

I prefer OpenRPA because one of its advantages is being open source. That's great. Additionally, it offers great features, such as quick comparison capabilities with Velocity. This impressed me. Another notable aspect is the ability to code in various languages and run them independently. This allows me to seamlessly integrate with my workflow and agents. I can execute the code in my environment and directly communicate with the robot, which is a fantastic feature.

Compared to UiPath, OpenRPA is slightly faster, open-source, and allows for the incorporation of work codes, but UiPath offers greater functionality.

What other advice do I have?

I give UiPath a nine out of ten. The design and appearance of UiPath are excellent, and its functionalities are perfect. The impressive aspect is how people create packages and new automation using the solution. I have nothing negative to say.

UiPath is currently deployed in one location within our organization.

We have a dedicated maintenance team of two individuals who are knowledgeable and have not encountered any difficulties.

I suggest utilizing the Community forum to acquire knowledge about UiPath because it contains a wealth of information beyond what is found in the documentation itself, and the support provided there is exceptional.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Public Cloud

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

Can deploy from mobile devices, is easy to create automation, and offers AI functionality
Pros and Cons
  • "The ability to deploy UiPath from a mobile device is the most valuable feature."
  • "Although AI functionality has improved in its ability to automate more complex or involved processes in the past five years, there is still ample room for further improvement."

What is our primary use case?

We utilize UiPath for the automation process within our organization.

How has it helped my organization?

Building automation using UiPath is easy. I rate the ease of writing workflows a nine out of ten.

UiPath enables us to implement end-to-end automation, which is important because it aligns with the current demand. There are workflows that users prefer not to interrupt or intervene with, hence the absence of intervention workflows. There are two types of automation: one with human intervention and another without. We prefer a workflow that eliminates the need for any human intervention right from the beginning.

I am a member of UiPath's user community, where individuals write workflows and create various applications. UiPath is putting more effort into promoting the community when compared to Automation Anywhere. However, apart from joining the forums they provide, I have not taken advantage of the additional benefits they offer yet.

We recognized the advantages of UiPath within the initial quarter of usage.

We utilize AI functionality in our automation programming to the fullest extent possible.

UiPath's AI functionality has enabled us to automate more processes overall.

UiPath has enabled us to reduce the workforce for the specific tasks we handle by 75 percent.

It helps to speed up digital transformation.

Human error has been reduced.

It has tripled the amount of time freed up for our employees.

UiPath has reduced costs by a factor of three.

What is most valuable?

The ability to deploy UiPath from a mobile device is the most valuable feature.

What needs improvement?

Although AI functionality has improved in its ability to automate more complex or involved processes in the past five years, there is still ample room for further improvement.

The APIs are predominantly on-premises-focused, and there should be greater availability of cloud-based APIs.

There are workflows in which we use AI to take screenshots to assist us in making decisions, and these workflows need improvement.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using UiPath for five and a half years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability of UiPath is better than Automation Anywhere.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

UiPath is scalable.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We also use Automation Anywhere and Blue Prism, but UiPath allows us to deploy from mobile devices, and is also easier to create automation.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is complex, but UiPath provides all the required tools, so with some patience, it is manageable. The deployment took one hour. We created workflows to set up the machines with all the necessary software and UiPath. Next, we deployed the workload monitor and tested various use cases on some data for one or two days. After that, we left it to their employees to provide us feedback after a week.

Two DevOps people were used in the deployment.

What about the implementation team?

The implementation was completed in-house.

What was our ROI?

UiPath has delivered four times the return on investment by implementing complete end-to-end automation.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The price is high. UiPath is more expensive than Automation Anywhere. The solution is not affordable for small businesses.

What other advice do I have?

I give UiPath an eight out of ten.

Some of our team members have utilized UiPath's Academy courses, and although we train using unofficial courses, the Academy courses are beneficial.

5,200 end users use it in our company.

Five DevOps professionals are required for UiPath maintenance.

My advice would be to take a look at the new features, particularly those related to AI. Many people discuss the old features that don't have much impact, but it's the new features that truly matter.

I have learned that not everything can be automated, especially in complex scenarios where we must exercise extra caution in our environment.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

We can complete tasks faster and reduce our backlog, which keeps our stakeholders happy
Pros and Cons
  • "The user interface is intuitive and easy to understand. This automation increases the ease of operation for the employees."
  • "Building automations can be a little complicated. There are so many variables and commands. We're also trying to integrate new technology like ChatGPT. Although ChatGPT has many APIs, they're not sufficiently integrated. If UiPath could add more API integration and tutorials in the academy, it would help us utilize them more effectively."

What is our primary use case?

We use UiPath to automate activities that are typically done on a computer by an individual. It's used to automate purchases involving a large volume of transactions for hundreds of organizations.

How has it helped my organization?

UiPath has improved customer confidence and helped us cut costs. We can complete tasks faster and reduce our backlog. A fast turnaround time keeps our stakeholders happy. It also improves accuracy. We can customize and optimize the processes.

Before UiPath, we had a five-person team. It took them each around six hours to complete 200 tasks. We cut that down to one hour by implementing automation, so it took only five employee hours to do the same amount of work that formerly required 30. It also saves energy consumption because the same result can be completed in far less time, so the employee's computer isn't running continuously.

We can reduce our on-prem footprint because we can store our data in the cloud and use UiPath to automate cloud-based data solutions. The cloud is more accessible, and various tools can access the cloud database, whether you're using a mobile phone or desktop.

The UiPath Academy helped prepare our team to use the program. The introductory course taught them everything they needed to know to start working. UiPath also has a huge community that has been helpful when we have issues. Most of our questions have already been answered.

We've used some of the AI features. For example, machine learning is built into the document understanding system. We're working on integrating ChatGPT, but that's not mature yet. APIs are available, but we are still not integrated. The ChatGPT APIs can make our automation more complete and compliant.

We can do complex automations with UiPath. For example, we can automate processes that need to be authenticated to run and integrate processes with the AI engine. UiPath didn't require any upgrades. We could run it on our existing infrastructure.

What is most valuable?

The user interface is intuitive and easy to understand. This automation increases the ease of operation for the employees.

What needs improvement?

Building automations can be a little complicated. There are so many variables and commands. We're also trying to integrate new technology like ChatGPT. Although ChatGPT has many APIs, they're not sufficiently integrated. If UiPath could add more API integration and tutorials in the academy, it would help us utilize them more effectively.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have used UiPath for four years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

UiPath is stable, but it's crucial to understand new features when upgrades are released. Updates can cause problems because sometimes we don't know how to use the new features.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

UiPath is scalable.

How are customer service and support?

I rate UiPath support nine out of 10. We don't typically require support because we can usually get all the answers from the UiPath community.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We also tried Automation Anywhere. It has a more user-friendly and attractive interface. UiPath has more features, a larger user community, and is more capable of handling integrated processes. I think Automation Anywhere is a better fit for small businesses and startups.

How was the initial setup?

The deployment was straightforward. We purchased the license, downloaded the software, and installed it, then we programmed our bots. The deployment can be completed by one person in two days.

The software is on-prem, but the data is stored in the cloud. The solution is installed on a server that multiple people can use. Regarding maintenance, there are only routine updates. The bots themselves need to be maintained, monitored for performance, and optimized. Sometimes you need to modify them when we have additional requirements.

What was our ROI?

The ROI is excellent because you can significantly reduce your staff's working hours. You'll start to see a return after one or two years.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Large enterprises can negotiate a better price, but UiPath is comparable to Automation Anywhere if you're a small company. Automation Anywhere is affordable for small integrations. There are various kinds of licenses, and the return for a small company could be positive. Still, the architecture and usage-based licenses are costly. As the volume increases, it may become unaffordable for smaller businesses.

What other advice do I have?

I rate UiPath nine out of 10. It's a great solution, but it isn't easy to use, and you need to learn a lot. I recommend taking advantage of the free courses and other resources available.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Helped minimize our on-premise footprint and substantially reduced human error
Pros and Cons
  • "The UiPath community is helpful because you can ask questions and get tips from other people on best practices. Many of the problems have already been resolved by others so you can get advice from those people. You can also see how other people use the system."
  • "UiPath could add more interactive features that enable you to explore and design processes from scratch. There should be more features that support the digital transformation process from the design phase. In the current data panel, you need to start with a process that's already in place."

What is our primary use case?

We use UiPath to understand and refine supply chain business processes. Our company is a solution integrator developing solutions for clients. We help companies undergo a digital transformation and digitize existing processes and systems.

You can monitor and automate existing processes, but it's challenging if there's a skill involved. You need to optimize the process and ensure the system is fully integrated. You're pushing the data into UiPath and optimizing the process. You want to integrate it with another system that isn't part of your environment or improve your process. In that case, sometimes you don't have the data in place. That is what you call process mining or process automation.

How has it helped my organization?

If you want to understand the processes you have in place, UiPath can help you understand the gap between the design and execution. For example, you can see if the data is pointed in the right direction and identify where your process has problems. You can also integrate some monitoring capabilities to detect some patterns.

Another important thing for our organization is migration. If you want to change something or relocate a process, you can measure and transfer those things. If the method you want to migrate isn't in place, you need to create something from scratch that currently lacks support. UiPath is suitable for detecting and monitoring existing processes but is not good at identifying new flows, cases, and procedures. That's one area where it needs to improve.

UiPath helped minimize our on-premise footprint. We use AI for some aspects, such as detection and segmentation. Some companies implemented ChatGPT-type functionality, but we haven't tried that.

UiPath substantially reduced human error. It speeds up the business. You can communicate with the customer and show them what's happening. That's the advantage. It frees up employee time because it's an automated process, and you can replace a lot of labor with the tools and the general report. It depends on the data and the efficiency of the data integration, but you can save 20 to 60 percent of labor time.

What is most valuable?

I like how you can download the log and perform static analysis. You can also do dynamic monitoring to look into the system integration. The ease of building automation depends on the vendor you are integrating. You bring data in and push it out through the API. It's relatively easy either way.

The UiPath community is helpful because you can ask questions and get tips from other people on best practices. Many of the problems have already been resolved by others so you can get advice from those people. You can also see how other people use the system.

What needs improvement?

UiPath could add more interactive features that enable you to explore and design processes from scratch. There should be more features that support the digital transformation process from the design phase. In the current data panel, you need to start with a process that's already in place.

You can do end-to-end automation with UiPath, but the problem is that the system hasn't been integrated from that perspective, so UiPath has some disadvantages. It's easier to handle an existing system in UiPath, but it's harder to integrate and model a new system.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have used UiPath for about a year. Before I started using UiPath, I was involved in developing these kinds of processes for more than 10 years, so I'm experienced in this area.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

How was the initial setup?

Deploying UiPath is straightforward. We had a team of two people primarily responsible for the deployment and one or two additional staff.

What about the implementation team?

We worked with UiPath during the deployment. They have a consulting team that we use when possible.

What was our ROI?

The real ROI comes in the later process monitoring stage. You need to spend money initially planning and building processes. Once you get to the evaluation phase, you start to recognize the advantage of using these tools.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Most tools have a trial license. With UiPath, you need to pay from the beginning. Many customers aren't familiar with the product, so it would be helpful if they offered a free evaluation period.

We need experience with UiPath because we have to convince the customer to adopt it.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We evaluated several other options, but I can't recall which ones. UiPath's advantage is that you can do system automation.

What other advice do I have?

I rate UiPath an eight out of ten.

Reduces the cost of digital transformation and helps our client reduce their on-premises footprint
Pros and Cons
  • "The ease of integration is a valuable feature."
  • "Some of the APA integrations are complicated and have room for improvement."

What is our primary use case?

We primarily work with banking clients at a high level, automating solution points, nodes, and bot processes to reduce demand. For example, if a task was previously performed by a hundred people, we have now limited it to around five to ten people by implementing automation to closely monitor the bots in real-time to ensure their effectiveness.

How has it helped my organization?

Building automation using UiPath is easy and in most cases can be done with a single click. There is no need to write coding. We can insert and delete columns or remove duplicate frames easily.

We have already implemented a couple of solutions, one of which is a maintenance automation database. The users of the database want to send emails with attached files and other artifacts, and previously this was done manually. Each day, up to 300-500 items were manually processed by 50-60 people who would navigate to a separate application, search for the file, upload it, and send the email. This was a tedious task and accuracy and reliability were questionable, requiring manual verification. This process was repeated monthly for around 10,000-12,000 items, taking around 25-30 days to complete. We automated this process and provided a high-level solution initially, which was later built, bought, and deployed. The bot we created is capable of processing 900-950 items per day, meaning that all 10,000 items can be processed within eight to ten days. This reduces the processing time by one-third and the cost from 100 to around 12 months, as we only need three to four rotational shifts to monitor the bot. Sometimes the bot may disconnect or encounter issues beyond our control, but we address these promptly to reinstate the process. This is the work we are doing in our organization.

End-to-end automation is a crucial aspect of completing tasks within the specified time frame. Clients do not want to wait for extended periods, such as a month or two, and prefer to see progress at least one-third or one-fourth of the way through. This ensures that clients are not preoccupied with a single task and can focus on improving their business while also increasing accuracy. UiPath aims to provide clients with a high return on investment from both the software build and business development perspectives. This is achieved by delivering effective solutions that meet clients' needs.

We are satisfied with UiPath's community. Occasionally, we encounter some queries or doubts, such as whether we should use a particular feature or MAC code, or whether we can use a certain file. While we cannot always rely on direct support for such minor issues, we found that the UiPath community can be a helpful resource. We search for similar issues that other users may have faced and posted about, and we often find solutions to our questions in a timely manner. Overall, we find the UiPath community to be effective and useful.

UiPath has helped our client reduce their on-premises footprint. This decision is purely based on the client's interests and has nothing to do with our personal or company interests. Generally, clients prefer cloud integration as they want their systems to be up and running 99.9 percent of the time. However, sometimes they may opt for on-premises solutions based on the CDRT of a particular application, which refers to the sensitivity of the data involved. We have some limited automation that deals with sensitive information, such as credit-related automation, which the client cannot access. In such cases, clients may prefer an on-premises solution, but overall, cloud integration is becoming more important.

With the implementation of AI, we can utilize UiPath for automation, which is more dependable.

UiPath reduces the cost of digital transformation.

Our clients are highly satisfied with the nearly 99 percent reduction in human error achieved through the use of UiPath. This includes both individual and team errors. However, during the development phase, some human input was necessary to create rules for the bot to follow. Any potential issues were identified and resolved during testing by our IT and testing teams. Overall, our clients are pleased with the system's reliability and performance.

What is most valuable?

The architecture of UiPath is a unique feature compared to other solutions.

The ease of integration is a valuable feature.

Debugging files is easy to do using UiPath.

What needs improvement?

Some of our customers have experienced performance issues after the latest update.

The licensing cost is high and has room for improvement.

Some of the APA integrations are complicated and have room for improvement.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using UiPath for four years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

In general, UiPath is a stable platform. However, the performance tends to slow down frequently after updates.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

UiPath is scalable.

How are customer service and support?

The technical support and documentation are good.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

In 2017 and 2018, we utilized Blue Prism in the preliminary stage. However, we subsequently discovered that it was not appropriate for our clients due to its intricate architecture and high cost compared to UiPath. UiPath, on the other hand, offers a more user-friendly experience by integrating everything into a single platform.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup can be described as neither straightforward nor complex. I give the initial setup a five out of ten. We experience smooth operation once we finish setting up and deploying. If a person has three to four years of experience and is familiar with all the necessary processes for deployment, I believe that only one or two people, excluding the developer and tester, are needed to deploy the entire package to the host. Sometimes even just one person can handle the task, but we can assume two people will be sufficient. They will be deploying the product on the cloud, as there is a single package that has been moved from the latest enrollment.

What about the implementation team?

We implement UiPath for our customers.

What was our ROI?

UiPath has been instrumental in saving our customers money, which is the primary reason why they have adopted it. Instead of using the traditional method, UiPath's automation has streamlined processes for over 10,000 products, leading to a reduction in manpower by almost 90 percent. This has significantly decreased the turnaround time from 28 days to 12 days, making clients exceedingly satisfied and unwilling to risk their business due to potential delays. As a result, UiPath has provided us with a tenfold return on investment.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The licensing cost is high.

What other advice do I have?

I give UiPath a nine out of ten.

UiPath does not require maintenance, however, it does require a person to monitor the bot and ensure that it is functioning properly.

UiPath's architecture is simple and straightforward. I recommend the solution.

Provides good value for money, saves a lot of time, and allows non-technical people to easily build applications
Pros and Cons
  • "There is a feature called Build a New App in UiPath. I found that to be very good. It makes our job much easier to know how to build applications. There is also the Studio module. I am from a non-technical background. So, for me, designing and creating applications was very tough initially, but with the Studio module and the activity tab that they have, it's easy. Most of it is just drag and drop. I found that very valuable."
  • "There are some selector issues when it comes to web automation and desktop automation. There is a robot selector. When we feed the data, it tries to fetch the UI elements from that particular data, but that's not happening 100%. That could have some improvements."

What is our primary use case?

Our primary use case with UiPath is to create automation software for the HR and the accounting department. Some of the automations that we do are automated attendance tracking, billable hours calculation, work hours calculation, expense reimbursements, et cetera. We have also completely automated our sales processes, such as contract building, invoice creation, etc. We do all this through UiPath automation. Earlier, all this was done manually, and it consumed a lot of time for us, but now, with automation, it's super-quick and efficient.

We are using a public cloud model. We host it on AWS.

How has it helped my organization?

It helps us to do end-to-end automation. The accounts and the HR department have a lot of employees to manage and a lot of queries come up. Previously, most of the tasks that we had to do were very time-consuming. For example, just attendance tracking and expense management consumed two days of the entire week, but after the end-to-end automation with UiPath, we hardly spend four to five hours per week on the same tasks. That definitely helped us.

Time-saving is the main benefit that we have got. The Build a New App feature helps us create our applications in a very quick and efficient manner. We can also share them with multiple stakeholders, which has saved us a lot of time. We used to spend two days per week on a manual task, but now, it's just four or five hours a week. A lot of time has been saved, and efficiency-wise, by introducing automation, very less errors are happening. That's one of the biggest bonuses of using UiPath.

It has definitely reduced human errors. With the end-to-end automation that we are doing, in addition to a lot of time savings, efficiency has been improved in terms of the number of manual errors. It has reduced about 95% of the errors. There are still minor hiccups here and there, but that's expected. With fewer manual errors, we are able to do things in a much quicker and more reliable fashion. Earlier, unnecessary time was being wasted on this, but now, we are completely dependent on automation. Automation and robots take care of everything for us. We just need to oversee things. That has made our life much easier.

We use the platform on the cloud. It has definitely reduced the on-premise footprint. One benefit of having a cloud product is that we need to do very little maintenance from our side. We just need to do the regular updates and install the patches that they give. It's on the cloud, so it's very easy. We just have to keep our application updated. It's very useful, and it saves a lot of time. With an on-premise model, a lot of maintenance is required.

It definitely speeds up digital transformation. We deal with a lot of employees or internal customers, and with automation, we are able to design applications that are very user-friendly. They are able to give us the data we need in a much quicker fashion. It has definitely been on the positive side for us.

For this digital transformation, we did not require any third-party or costly applications. Everything was there in UiPath itself. We just needed to subscribe to UiPath. It's a one-stop solution.

It has freed up a lot of employee time. The tasks that previously required two days per week now require just five hours per week. It has saved us that much time.

It has definitely saved costs for our organization. With the saved time, we are able to concentrate on different aspects of our work, and we are able to clear up most of our pending tasks. So, the efficiency has improved, which has been good for our business. Around 30% of our overall expenditure has been reduced because we are able to put in that much more work.

What is most valuable?

There is a feature called Build a New App in UiPath. I found that to be very good. It makes our job much easier to know how to build applications. There is also the Studio module. I am from a non-technical background. So, for me, designing and creating applications was very tough initially, but with the Studio module and the activity tab that they have, it's easy. Most of it is just drag and drop. I found that very valuable.

It's straightforward to build automations. The UiPath Studio has a lot of in-built templates to choose from. Most of the functionality is just drag and drop, and it can't get easier than this. It's really straightforward.

UiPath's user community is very active and very useful. The answers to most of my queries are already in the community. It's very user-friendly, and we can also clarify our doubts and have conversations with the UiPath community.

UiPath's academic courses on academy.uipath.com are also very useful. In case you have any doubts or you want to do any certifications, you can just log in. It's free of cost. You can just log in there and do your certification. You'll learn a lot. Both UiPath Academy and the UiPath Community are very good.

I'm from a non-technical background. For me, getting my head around designing and understanding RPA processes was very tough. UiPath Academy basically dumbed it down to my level. It has made it very easy for me to know and understand RPA. I have started designing and developing applications with UiPath. So, even a person from a non-technical background, like me, can produce reliable and very useful applications with UiPath.

What needs improvement?

The reports could be improved. They could be much more in-depth.

There are some selector issues when it comes to web automation and desktop automation. There is a robot selector. When we feed the data, it tries to fetch the UI elements from that particular data, but that's not happening 100%. That could have some improvements. Apart from that, everything else is fine. I have not faced any other major hiccups or issues with UiPath.

In terms of additional features, some integration and API connector services need to be added, especially with the CRM software. Currently, they have a limited set of API connector services. They could increase that for the CRM software.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using UiPath for nine months.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

UiPath is a very stable application. We haven't faced any hiccups or any major downtimes. Being a cloud platform, it's very good. The only thing that we need to take care of is our internet and our system. Apart from that, I haven't faced any downtime issues or performance issues with UiPath.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It's scalable. It definitely has all the capabilities for scaling up, but for our department, we most probably aren't going to scale it up because we currently have a sufficient number of users. We have been able to extract the best out of UiPath from the current usage, but it definitely has all the features to scale.

Currently, in our organization, it's deployed across multiple departments. There are 15 departments in our organization, and eight of those departments use UiPath. In our department, seven of us use this application. We have seven user logins for UiPath, but I am not sure about the number of users in other departments. The majority of users are non-technical staff and developers. There is a 50:50 ratio.

How are customer service and support?

I have been in touch with their technical support, but my involvement is very less. They are very friendly, and they are very knowledgeable. They could solve most of the queries within 24 hours, and for most of the queries, they also had help documents that they shared with us so that we could learn, and the next time it happens, we are able to resolve it ourselves. So far, their support has been very good. I would rate them a 10 out of 10. I don't have any complaints so far.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We did not explicitly use any other product for RPA.

How was the initial setup?

I was not involved in its deployment.

What about the implementation team?

We got some training from UiPath's third-party team on how to go about using the software because we didn't have any clue. For initial installation and deployment, we did not require anyone else. We did it ourselves. We just required some training on how to go about using the software.

In terms of maintenance, it requires minimal maintenance. It's a complete cloud product, and its maintenance involves downloading the latest release or updating to the latest release. That's it. We just have one person who takes care of all of these aspects. We don't have an extensive team to take care of the maintenance of the product. It's very easy for us to do maintenance. One thing that we like very much about UiPath is that it requires very little maintenance.

What was our ROI?

We have definitely seen a return on investments on UiPath. Basically, a lot of time was saved for us. We were able to concentrate on other aspects of our work. Tasks that previously required two days now just require four to five hours. There are about 30% cost savings with UiPath.

The return on investment is quicker with UiPath. Earlier, the output that we wanted from a task took around 15 days, but now, it just takes around a week. That's the return on investment that we are getting from UiPath.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

It's fairly priced. It's not too costly, and it's also not too cheap. When you bundle it with the UiPath Academy courses and the great community that they have, it is worth the price.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We did try out Automation Anywhere. We did a trial of that software, but that was not reliable for us. We didn't like the performance that it offered. That's why we went for UiPath, and we have been using UiPath since.

What other advice do I have?

Non-technical people have this misconception that automation is only for people with a coding or development background. I would definitely suggest trying UiPath because it breaks that barrier. Anybody with a little bit of computer knowledge will be able to design simple-level applications.

You can try the community version of UiPath. It's a free version of UiPath. If you are interested, I would also recommend trying out the UiPath Academy courses that are being offered by UiPath.

I would rate UiPath a 9 out of 10. If they can bring the integrations and the API services, it would make the product the best in the market. All other aspects are very good.

Easy to use menus, provides folder organization capabilities using a centralized tenant, improves robustness of our processes
Pros and Cons
  • "The UiPath Academy was pretty helpful for us in the initial stages."
  • "Once we signed up with UiPath, we instantly saw growth in our entire business."
  • "The product could be made a little less glitchy. Specifically, when too many users are working at the same time, it hangs a little bit here and there."

What is our primary use case?

My primary use case with UiPath is to automate workflows for processes in web-based applications, such as email and Excel automation. We also use it as a task or workflow management tool, capable of assigning tasks, checking on the status of tasks, and more.

Another thing that I have been doing with UiPath is replacing repetitive tasks performed within the organization. Automating such tasks makes the related process smoother and faster.

We are using the UiPath automation cloud offering, which is a SaaS solution. One advantage to this type of environment is that we can get updates instantly. If it were an on-premises or hybrid model then the setup and maintenance take time, but this isn't the case with a SaaS model. This instant setup is what we needed because it made for a smooth transition from manual processes to automation.

How has it helped my organization?

With respect to building automations, UiPath is a pretty straightforward platform. The major reason that we choose to implement UiPath is the interface that it provides, which boosts the usefulness of the entire platform. If we need assistance then there are many knowledge base documents available. There is also in-app help, which makes it very easy to understand and start using it.

I was able to learn how to use it within a week, which shows how easy it is. For example, it does not require a lot of coding. It's more of a drag-and-drop interface, making it easier to develop programs and automate processes.

UiPath enables us to implement end-to-end automation, and it has completely replaced the manual processes that we were using. This includes analyzing the process and implementing automation to collect the data. Data fetching is done using the robots that we create.

Since implementing UiPath, we have experienced better retention of our users. This is because we have been able to make our process much smoother, as well as quicker. Consequently, we have been able to deliver at a much faster pace. This has enhanced the customer experience and in turn, has improved customer satisfaction. Overall, we have seen an increase of about 30% in terms of user retention. This has translated to increasing revenue.

With respect to automating our processes, automation has reduced our manual efforts by more than 70%. This means that we are able to concentrate more on other aspects of our business. The business is growing because we are able to do things like work on our website, customer engagement, and customer relations.

UiPath has taken care of most of the backend work for us, which is a good bonus. It has reduced our investment in manpower by about 50% and decreased our overall output time by more than 70%.

Automation has definitely reduced the rate of human error when compared to our previous, manual processes. At this point, there is minimal to zero human error. I estimate that approximately one hundred percent of human error has been eliminated.

Implementing this product definitely helps speed the process of digital transformation, and reduces its cost as well. One of the goals of our organization is to completely digitize. We want to optimize everything so that employees can focus more on the customer relationship aspect, building more value for our brand. UiPath has definitely helped in improving the overall process.

Our digital transformation did not require any external support for third-party application software. It's an in-built process and we did not need anything extra.

What is most valuable?

The specific feature I like is folder organization, and it is in the Orchestrator tenant. This is very useful because it keeps all of my folders and data in a centralized tenant.

The menu options are easily accessible in the Orchestrator tenant, which is something that I like very much.

The UiPath Academy was pretty helpful for us in the initial stages. We were able to learn more about the software and what is there. They also provide courses and certifications, which assist with learning and getting employees up to speed.

It took only a week for me to completely get a handle on the software. Taking the initial training and certification courses is a hassle-free process. It is not difficult to induct somebody and have them start using the product.

The courses that they offer provide hands-on experience, and I think that it's a good initiative that they are taking on by doing so. It helps to ease the learning curve and allowed us to learn more about the world of automation.

UiPath has a user community that is very knowledgeable and friendly. Our peers in the UiPath community are able to dumb down responses to a beginner's level of experience, regardless of what queries we have put forth. Whatever we have wanted to do with RPA, they have been able to help. We now have a good level of comfort in terms of interacting with our peers in the community.

We have experience with other communities and have found that the discussions are generally at a higher level, which may be too difficult for a new person that is just starting out with the product.

Generally speaking, I like the features that I am using and I could not really say where improvement is needed in that respect.

What needs improvement?

The product could be made a little less glitchy. Specifically, when too many users are working at the same time, it hangs a little bit here and there.

In a future release, I would like to see drag-and-drop functionality in the robot creation process within Orchestrator. As of now, it is not available there. It would be helpful because from there, it is easy to create a process flow. Instead of switching between multiple menus and multiple tabs, we can do it from the Orchestrator or the main menu.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using UiPath for approximately a year and a half.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I would rate the stability an eight out of ten. Sometimes, when the load is high or there are many users working at the same time, or when I'm working on different parts at the same time, it lags a little bit. There is a slight drop in performance.

Otherwise, it's very stable and secure software.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Using the automation cloud offering has meant that scaling up automations has been very smooth for us. We started out with between 40 and 50 users working on this particular tool, and now it's between 150 and 170 users.

There are two levels of roles; admin roles and user roles. The admin role is able to assign and approve tasks, using the task management module. Regular users are able to perform all of the other functions.

It is definitely a scalable solution, being cloud-based and SaaS. It is also very customizable. Customizability is the unique selling point (USP) for this particular product, given the number of customizations that are available and the number of features that can be added.

How are customer service and support?

The technical support staff is brilliant. They are very knowledgeable and very quick when it comes to addressing our queries. They don't ask us to wait for long when we have a problem, and we normally have a resolution within hours.

There is also a community forum that helps us to deal with problems ourselves, without the dependence on the technical support team.

I would rate the technical support a ten out of ten.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We did not use another RPA solution prior to UiPath. Before this, we were doing everything manually.

How was the initial setup?

I was not involved in the initial setup and deployment.

What about the implementation team?

As we opted to implement the cloud-based model, the maintenance on our part is minimal. We just have to update the software from time to time. The amount of maintenance that we perform is not only easy but saves a lot of time for our IT team.

The team of people for maintenance consists of six or seven junior IT staff. They perform the updates and nothing more.

What was our ROI?

Using the automation cloud offering has helped to decrease our time to value. An example of where we saw the benefits of this solution was with an Excel automation that we created. This process involves an Excel worksheet that contains between 20,000 and 30,000 records. We had to manually search for particular records, and the process to approximately a week to complete. Now, with UiPath, the same process is completed within a couple of minutes.

Once we signed up with UiPath, we instantly saw growth in our entire business. It was a win-win situation.

The additional time has enabled our employees to focus on higher-value work, such as R&D, customer engagement, and improving our brand. It also has an effect on employees' satisfaction, specifically, mine.

A lot of time spent doing repetitive and redundant work is something that was irritating me a lot. Now that the automation is in place, I just have to set up the workflow. It has definitely increased my overall morale and satisfaction.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

One of the downsides to UiPath is the cost of the enterprise version. It is a little bit on the higher side.

UiPath's cloud offering is a centralized, all-in-one platform. It saves money because you don't have to invest as much in other software, and it's cheaper than some solutions because you don't have to maintain the platform or the database. However, because it's not cheap, the overall cost reduction is not drastic at first. Taking a holistic view, it does because overall, it will reduce costs.

There is also a Community Edition that can be used free of charge. This is an option for users that find the price to be high. One main differentiating factor with the Community Edition is the number of updates. There are fewer in the Community Edition.

Also, the support offered for the Community Edition is not as quick. People will not have a great user experience. However, it is important to remember that in terms of cost, the Enterprise Edition is a little bit pricey for small and medium-scale enterprises.

What other advice do I have?

About a month ago, we started using the AI functionality of the software to design robots and processes. At this point, we are looking to use AI for our internal applications.

One example is that we are working on security-related automation that triggers an alert when somebody inserts or removes an external hard disk from a system. Taking advantage of the AI capabilities has helped us to maintain a much safer work environment, in terms of data security.

The AI functionality has definitely enabled us to automate more processes. A lot of manual work and redundant work has been reduced. Also, the number of errors that we had occurring during our manual processes has been greatly reduced.

This solution has definitely helped to free up employee time. Tasks that used to take approximately a week, now take just 30 or 40 minutes. This is a lot of time saved, which allows us to concentrate more on other aspects of the business. For example, improved customer engagement has resulted in gathering more leads. Also, we have more time for R&D.

I estimate that we are saving approximately five hours per day, so 20 hours per week, per employee. In addition to the areas that we have more time to concentrate on, it has helped improve the value of our brand overall.

My advice for anybody who is looking into implementing this product is that it's a must. This is the go-to software that I would recommend for anybody looking to automate their business in a smooth and efficient manner.

Cost, of course, is something that has to be considered but if they can afford this solution then they should implement it. It has a wide variety of features and functionalities, which are market fit and market ready.

I would rate this solution a nine out of ten.

Helped us realize cost savings by eliminating multiple FTEs
Pros and Cons
  • "I like the UiPath Orchestrator. The Marketplace is also helpful because there are pre-built automations we can use."
  • "I rate UiPath support six out of 10. It's primarily an email-based model. Sometimes we have questions, and it takes days for them to respond and sort our issue out."

What is our primary use case?

I work at a large retailer and we use UiPath to support the HR and e-commerce departments. For example, we can automate the management of HR tasks, such as scheduling training courses for associates. We have around 500 bots running in production.

How has it helped my organization?

UiPath helped us realize some cost savings by eliminating several FTEs.
UiPath freed up our employees to work on other things. Instead of doing repetitive tasks, they can learn new skills or work on more exciting jobs. When we automate, we don't lay off employees. They're shifted to other projects once a robot takes over their process.

I set up the entire automation team in 2017. The UiPath Academy courses have been useful for training our staff. I have completed almost all of the certifications.

It's challenging if you don't have knowledge bases or community forums. When UiPath first launched, we had to Google everything, and it was hard to find accurate information. UiPath Academy has enabled me to grow professionally. I started as a developer and later became a technical lead. Now I'm in an architect role.

A robust user community is essential for any solution. The community updates us about new features in the latest release notes. We can ask the community about how to deal with common problems and always get a quick response. Users can create custom solutions and upload them to the marketplace.

What is most valuable?

I like the UiPath Orchestrator. The Marketplace is also helpful because there are pre-built automations we can use. One of our processes is used to manage annual charitable donations.

We use UiPath for end-to-end automation but only for about half of our processes. We've also integrated the solution with other tools.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have used UiPath for eight years.

How are customer service and support?

I rate UiPath support six out of 10. It's primarily an email-based model. Sometimes we have questions, and it takes days for them to respond and sort our issue out.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Neutral

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

My firm uses two or three tools, but most of our bots in production use UiPath.

How was the initial setup?

I was present for the initial deployment, and I have been involved with the upgrades. Everything went smoothly.

What about the implementation team?

We relied on the UiPath team during the initial phases, but we've developed in-house expertise since then. I did the last upgrade for the UiPath Studio, Orchestrator, etc.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The licensing model could be improved. UiPath charges more if you increase the number of components. It should be included within the premium licensing. We have 100 percent end-to-end automation for some of our processes. However, we're limited by the licensing from fully automating all of them. We can't use all the features.

What other advice do I have?

I rate UiPath eight out of 10.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
