Affordable endpoint protection enhances security with valuable EDR and XDR features
Pros and Cons
  • "The valuable aspects of Cynet are its EDR and XDR components, which are available at a reasonable price point."
  • "The valuable aspects of Cynet are its EDR and XDR components, which are available at a reasonable price point."
  • "Their deployment needs some work, especially with integration with remote monitoring management systems like Datto AutoTask or ConnectWise Automate."
  • "Their support for issues related to the portal or feature problems isn't great."

What is our primary use case?

We use Cynet to protect the endpoints that we are responsible for protecting.

How has it helped my organization?

It allows us to round out our security offering and provide our clients with more robust protection.

What is most valuable?

The valuable aspects of Cynet are its EDR and XDR components, which are available at a reasonable price point.

What needs improvement?

Their deployment needs some work, especially with integration with remote monitoring management systems like Datto AutoTask or ConnectWise Automate. They need to provide plugins that integrate with these tools commonly used by most MSPs.

Also, there should be more options than deploying solely through group policy, as the assumption that GPO is working isn’t always the case. Their onboarding support is another area that needs improvement.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have used Cynet since March.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The product itself seems great and does what it is advertised to do.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Cynet is very scalable. There are many changes happening on their back end as they pivot to a managed service partner channel, which affects the administrator interface.

How are customer service and support?

Their support for issues related to the portal or feature problems isn't great. That said, their SOC side support, when a threat is detected, is excellent.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We used Webroot before, which is more like a NextGen AV and not as robust as Cynet. We have also used NOD32 and SentinelOne in the past.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is straightforward. However, the simplicity might be seen both as a positive and a negative.

What about the implementation team?

I assign the task to our support staff and engineering team, typically involving one or two people who are system engineers or network administrators.

What was our ROI?

It is too early in the process for us to have an ROI on Cynet.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I think the pricing of Cynet is fair and one of the better options in the market. It's right in the middle compared to other solutions.

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend Cynet to others, though I note that the onboarding process might be rocky as they figure out their approach with managed service partners.

I'd rate the solution nine out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

On-premises

Continuously improving and comes with automated response and SIEM/SOC
Pros and Cons
  • "The customer service and support get back to you real quick."
  • "I suppose everybody's working on AI these days. So, I would like to see more about AI-based threats."

What is our primary use case?

It's an alternative to CrowdStrike with respect to MITRE comparisons. In terms of anti-malware and anti-malicious behavior, Cynet does at least as well, and if you believe MITRE, it can do better than CrowdStrike.

It also comes with automated response and SIEM/SOC, which I'm not sure CrowdStrike has. I think they might have to get all that extra, and Cynet is a bit cheaper.

What is most valuable?

I like its capability. It's a bulletproof product.

The entire feature set, but they do really well against first-seen exploits, what they call zero-day.

The automated response capabilities greatly improve our incident response times. The software responds automatically, or it sends a message to people watching screens who figure out whether it looks bad enough to escalate to somebody else. I don't know why more people aren't using this type of product.

What needs improvement?

They are continuously improving. I knew them when they were a startup, and they've changed a lot since then. They've added cloud and mobile capabilities.

I suppose everybody's working on AI these days. So, I would like to see more AI-based features in the next releases. For example, I am referring more to AI as a threat. How they use it already to detect threats is pretty cool, but what about detecting AI being used against me?

For how long have I used the solution?

My first experience with Cynet dates back to 2015 or 2016.

How are customer service and support?

The customer service and support get back to you real quick. They follow through. They escalate. They do all the right things.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I know CrowdStrike is a big name in the field,

What other advice do I have?

This is the third company I've worked with, and I've brought them in as a provider.

For me, it's as good as it gets. Nobody likes to talk about tens, but they have a better record of detection than CrowdStrike, and they didn't shut down the world like CrowdStrike.

If you really dig down into it, who are the founders of the companies? On the one hand, you have a guy who used to be a consultant, I believe, and we know they're full of it. On the other hand, you got a guy who hacked into an Israeli bank, I think, when he was about 15 years old. They eventually hired him, and now this is his third startup. So, when you look at it that way, there's no comparison.

Provides streamlined deployment, intuitive usability, quick response times, high scalability, excellent stability and responsive support making it a comprehensive and reliable cybersecurity option
Pros and Cons
  • "The interface is exceptionally clear and easy to understand."
  • "The reporting functionality in Cynet may not be as comprehensive or flexible as desired."

What is our primary use case?

We use it in for internal security.

How has it helped my organization?

Cynet has significantly enhanced our endpoint protection for two primary reasons. Firstly, it provides clear and concise explanations of issues, making it easy to understand the nature of the problem and determine appropriate responses or actions for mitigation. Secondly, it effectively blocks most issues by default, such as those encountered with QuickBooks. This streamlined management process is particularly beneficial as it minimizes disruptions for the majority of users, with only a few exceptions arising from non-standard work practices.

What is most valuable?

I like Cynet because, in my experience, it's incredibly fast and intuitive. The interface is exceptionally clear and easy to understand.

The most critical function of the product for maintaining our cybersecurity environment is the rapid deployment of policies to the agents. This is particularly crucial considering our diverse workforce, with many employees working remotely or directly at customer sites. Unlike other solutions that might not be as cloud-based or easy to manage, Cynet excels in swiftly and accurately sending policies to the agents. This capability has been immensely valuable, especially during times when our developers are heavily engaged across multiple customer projects. With Cynet, we've experienced minimal issues with agents failing to receive or apply policies, ensuring that our security measures are consistently and promptly implemented across the board.

What needs improvement?

The reporting functionality in Cynet may not be as comprehensive or flexible as desired. In this scenario, it might be more beneficial to create a separate policy administrator fee where users can construct highly detailed reports according to their specific needs.

For how long have I used the solution?

We use it for approximately eight months.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Stability is excellent, with only a handful of issues encountered since with started using it. I would rate it nine out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Scalability is excellent as we initially started with around one thousand employees in our company. Despite this, the deployment process was remarkably swift. I would rate it nine out of ten.

How are customer service and support?

The support provided is satisfactory. In most cases, we received a response within a day, even in the worst situations. There was one instance where we encountered an issue on a Saturday evening, and by Sunday morning, we already had a response from the technical support team. Overall, the support was excellent.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was incredibly straightforward thanks to Cynet providing us with a tenant.

What about the implementation team?

We established four main groups required initially and deployed them without any hitches. The agents were automatically assigned to the appropriate group, minimizing our workload. Our main task was to create exceptions or address any issues, such as application blockages. Overall, the process was very swift and uncomplicated.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Due to my technical certification with Trend Micro, I have a preference for their hybrid environment. Specifically, I appreciate Trend Micro's robust server capabilities, especially their efficient patching reports. When it comes to endpoints, I find Cynet to be the best choice due to its ease of use, speed, and minimal problems. However, the overall decision might vary depending on the specific server requirements.

What other advice do I have?

Overall, I would rate it nine out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Provides memory protection, device control, and vulnerability management
Pros and Cons
  • "It is quite stable. I would rate the stability of the solution a nine out of ten."
  • "In future releases, I would like to see cloud security aspects included."

What is our primary use case?

The product has various use cases, including NDA, EDR, memory protection, device control, and vulnerability management.

The solution has a lot of elements tied to traditional disruption. The specific product offers a combination of different components. Additionally, we offer software services that revolve around data management and responsibility.

We provide 24/7 monitoring of Cynet activities.

What needs improvement?

In future releases, I would like to see cloud security aspects included.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using Cynet for four years and are currently on the latest version.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is quite stable. I would rate the stability of the solution a nine out of ten because as new launches come in, there will be further enhancements to its stability and downtime.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We have more than 45 customers, both in India and abroad.

On a scale from one to ten, I'd rate the scalability at nine.

How are customer service and support?

In our capacity as an MSSP provider, we have an assigned technical leader from Cylance. We can call them 24/7 for support, and we get an extended support plan. We also have continuous monitoring of our instances by Cylance.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is very seamless. There are no challenges as such. The deployment module can be both on-premises and cloud.

What about the implementation team?

If we're talking about deployment on around 5,000 systems, it can usually be completed within a day. This is possible due to scripting options and automation available in the product.

The deployment process is quite smooth, barring any potential issues that might arise, and can be accomplished in a matter of hours. The duration could vary based on specific circumstances and environment.

We provide maintenance services and offer 24/7 support for this product in India and Africa.  Our maintenance is supported by a team providing round-the-clock service.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The cost is typically around $40-$50 per year. This is because it includes more than 8-10 modules.

The pricing model in the US is always yearly.

What other advice do I have?

I would definitely recommend using the solution. The advice here is basically that Cynet contains all the modules that we need today to stop an attack. It also understands the attack framework that is very prevalent today with ransomware and unauthorized access to a network. This is how Cynet differentiates itself from other products.

It understands the attack pattern because it is mapped to my threat as time goes on. This is a major advantage for any product in the market. If you don't understand the attack today, you can't really have an EDR, MDL, or EDR storage that will protect you against all the different factors that are out there.

Overall, I would rate the solution a seven out of ten. This is because there are a couple more modules that are being added. Once they are added, it will go up to a ranking of nine.

Exceptional detection, limitless scalability, simple installation, and outstanding support
Pros and Cons
  • "The most valuable aspect of this solution is that it is a complete solution, which makes cyber security very free and almost perfect. There is no such thing as perfect cyber security, but as far as it can go, sign it comes close to being perfect and holistic. Cynet is always comprehensive from the perspective of functionality, as well as from the standpoint that it encompasses not only technology but also processes and people. The triad of people, processes, and technology is crucial and should always be in place. To my knowledge, no other product or platform combines all three components into one, but Cynet does."
  • "One thing to note is that I highly recommend adding a deep learning-based prevention environment as an additional layer to Cynet. However, I always advise my customers to start with Cynet or XDR, for example, and then focus on the people, technology, and processes involved. This is the best approach to ensure that you are not breached with ransomware. While Cynet can prevent most attacks, there have been cases where ransomware has been quicker than Cynet's detection capabilities. In these situations, an additional tool is necessary to ensure complete protection, and that is what I sell as well."

What is our primary use case?

As my customers are using it, I maintain close contact with them.

Clients employ it for detection, response, prevention, and to supplement their security operations center in various ways. Essentially, it serves as an all-encompassing solution for prevention, detection, and response.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable aspect of this solution is that it is a complete solution, which makes cyber security very free and almost perfect.

To my knowledge, no other product or platform combines all three components into one, but Cynet does.

My product offering is complete and includes processes, technology, and people.

What needs improvement?

There is room for improvement in the prevention aspect.

One thing to note is that I highly recommend adding a deep learning-based prevention environment as an additional layer to Cynet.

In these situations, an additional tool is necessary to ensure complete protection, and that is what I sell as well.

For how long have I used the solution?

I became acquainted with Cynet four or five years ago.

Due to a company switch, I have been using Cynet for three years. Subsequently, I established my own company and have continued to use Cynet for the same duration.

We work with the 360 Elite.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Cynet is a stable solution.

I would rate the stability of Cynet a ten out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution's scalability is simply wonderful.

We have successfully implemented it for a customer with 265 endpoints, as well as for another customer with 400,000 airplanes, and it performed flawlessly without any glitches. The solution is truly limitless in terms of scalability.

I would rate the scalability a ten out of ten.

Our clients include small, medium as well as enterprise businesses.

How are customer service and support?

I would rate the technical support a ten out of ten.

I must say that they are truly outstanding and remarkable.

In my experience, neither I nor my customers have ever encountered a situation where we were unable to get in touch with technical support or did not receive a immediate response.

However, the sales department may have a different story. There have been times when the sales team was occupied and unable to respond right away, resulting in a brief waiting period before they could call back.

But if I need someone from headquarters, I call the support line, and they always pick up the phone within three or two rings.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

While I am familiar with Extra Hop, my experience with it is outdated, dating back to at least three years ago.

I do have experience with Cynet. I am not someone who works directly with the solution; instead, I am responsible for selling it.

I am a reseller.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is easy. I would rate it a nine or a ten out of ten.

You don't have to do anything with Cynet because it does everything for you.

A unique aspect of Cynet is that they always compliment you, and if you don't have particular skills, Cynet will add them to your company's team without saying anything.

Cynet, as a character or as a product, runs on all endpoints, but the console is always in the cloud.

What about the implementation team?

The time it takes to deploy our product varies depending on the customer. For example, we had one customer whose deployment was completed within a couple of days. On the other hand, we worked with a large government organization whose deployment took a few months, but this was due to their internal structure and processes.

Despite various challenges, we are capable of deploying Cynet quickly. In fact, we can handle up to 5,000 endpoints per hour, meaning that even organizations with 20,000 or 30,000 endpoints can be deployed within a day. However, the government organization we worked with had a complex structure of authorizations and mandates, which resulted in a few months for the deployment process. Cynet remains a speedy deployment option.

In general, if given a week, the deployment process is quite straightforward and requires little involvement from us. However, there are cases where the process can take longer. For example, I have worked with a customer in the past whose deployment took a couple of months.

With smaller customers, we only require one or two people to deploy 1,000 endpoints.

If you have two people, they can communicate with one another. And they repair it more faster as a group than as individuals. But at the university where I work, which is quite large, there are only about five employees.

They are engineers, technical, or information technology professionals; they do not need to be security professionals. They can be, but they don't have to be.

IT professionals are excellent because they understand how to install software. And if something doesn't work, they now have to deal with it and want to say something if they are questioned.

If we start assisting them through Cynet, I see people responding. They understand what we're talking about.

Maintenance is not required from anyone else as we handle all of the necessary work.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I have beaten some of the best in the world, such as CrowdStrike and Sentinel One, as well as these Palo Alto companies, on price and functionality, where the functionality is on par with, Sentinel One and Cynet. Cynet is useful and of high quality. In some ways, it's a little less. It's, marginally less.

While some other options may be slightly better, Cynet and Sentinel One are very comparable in terms of quality.

The process is straightforward, you only need to purchase the SOC services that are included with Cynet, without any additional cost. Moreover, Cynet itself is less expensive compared to other centralized solutions. However, it's important to note that implementing Cynet still requires a significant financial investment, so it cannot be considered cheap.

For what they have delivered thus far. According to what I have seen, it's a no-brainer for my customers.

it's not cheap, but I would rate it a three out of ten. If one is cheap and ten is expensive.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

It's interesting to note that although our competitor, CrowdStrike, claims to be cloud-native, their product is actually an endpoint protection platform that runs on-premises. There's a lot of false information out there, but the truth is that Cynet is an exceptional endpoint protection platform. In fact, it's one of the most comprehensive and effective solutions I have encountered, and while it protects the endpoint, the majority of its operations take place in the cloud.

What other advice do I have?

Keep in touch with this company. With Cynet's assistance. On the other hand, I just have one client. Who didn't have contact with Cynet and wanted to get rid of it? Because, you know, Cynet, we don't have any. Cynet never communicates with us. We know that they don't even notice.

We know we paid for it, but that's all there is to it. When they contacted you, you answered, "Oh, we don't we don't extend our subscription after three years," which was correct. Well, why not, I reasoned. Well, we didn't see anything from Cynet, I explained. And I responded, but did you know how frequently Cynet has averted a breach in your environment, despite the fact that they are a politically sensitive organization?

I said. I'll set up a call, and we did a call with support, and support showed them the list of serious breaches that had occurred in the last three years, and they were just astounded because we hadn't even noticed you had these things you had prevented, and they were very thorough in their response. And they said it was all over. We have extended the license for three more years. I believe they wanted to buy for at least five years.

This is the best thing we have heard. We had no idea. However, they were significantly breached, and before it had, you know, so there was no prevention, but the breach occurred. And in virtually all cases, Cynet had killed the breach before anything happened in less than a minute.

They replied to their subscription request. It's excellent to plan a call or a session with Cynet Support, say, once a year. To gain context, you must first comprehend where you are and what they did.

I would rate Cynet a nine out of ten.

A very stable and scalable tool for detecting threats that offers great technical support to its users
Pros and Cons
  • "It is a very stable solution...It is a very scalable solution...The initial setup of Cynet was easy."
  • "There are some shortcomings in Cynet's integration capabilities that need improvement."

What is our primary use case?

In my company, Cynet is used by those in SOC to detect threats and to use Cynet's functionalities for extended detection and response.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature of the solution stems from the fact that it works well and detects threats that many other solutions cannot detect, improving and ensuring a great workflow. One of the other great features of the product includes the good price at which the solution is offered.

What needs improvement?

Improvements can be made in the overall functionalities provided by Cynet. There are some shortcomings in Cynet's integration capabilities that need improvement.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Cynet for two years. I use the solution's latest version. My company is not only an end user of Cynet but also has a partnership with Cynet.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is a very stable solution.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is a very scalable solution. I have done dozens of installations for very big customers, and we haven't found any trouble managing the product.

My company caters to around 200 customers who use Cynet.

How are customer service and support?

The solution's technical support is good since they are quick to respond and provide the information you need to solve your problems with the solution.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup of Cynet was easy.

The deployment process of Cynet can take up to three or four days.

The deployment process can be managed with installation scripts by Cynet, software distribution tools that the customer may already have, or with the help of Active Directory.

The solution is deployed on a hybrid cloud. I use the cloud or SaaS version, but I know that there is also an on-premises version available.

For deployment and maintenance, engineers and architects from our company are involved in the installation and management phase of the solution. In general, two technical analysts take care of the solution.

What about the implementation team?

The deployment process was carried out in-house with the help of some consultants.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

My company's customers have to make yearly payments towards the licensing costs of the solution. Cynet is not expensive. Price-wise, Cynet cannot be compared to good solutions like SentinelOne, Defender, or HP.

What other advice do I have?

I recommend the solution to those planning to use it.

I rate the overall tool a nine out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
