Streamlined incident response has reduced downtime and improved on-call collaboration
A few things I would improve in Splunk On-Call. Honestly, the reporting and analysis side feels a bit weak. If I want to deep dive into the on-call load, including MTTD and MTTR rates, I kind of have to export data and build my own dashboard, which is not as out-of-the-box as I would prefer. The UI has improved, but it still feels a little chunky in certain areas, particularly when managing schedules. When I have a lot of teams, it can get messy. Additionally, the pricing model is per user, which starts to get expensive as the team scales.

Helps reduce response time but has room to improve customization complexity
We are not working on simple standalone solutions like Kaspersky DDoS Protection or Hybrid Cloud Security. Once you understand Zabbix, then it is easy to customize those web pages and graphs for our customer use. It is fully automated to your requirements. Zabbix is working fine with no issues, and I am satisfied with it. We have combined Zabbix and SolarWinds. The integration works fine, and it is easy to integrate Zabbix with the IT environment. We were trying to purchase MDR (Managed Detection and Response), but we are not working on that. I don't have real experience with MDR. We are using Falcon software for that. We are working with Falcon Complete, not with Sandbox. We are not using Kaspersky for business or cloud protection. For that, we are using Zabbix CrowdStrike Falcon Complete solution. I have given this review an overall rating of 8.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It reduces the communication around CI/CD and production errors in about 90% of the cases and made our support tasks much easier."
"The most valuable feature of the solution is helpdesk escalation."
"VictorOps has decreased the meantime to acknowledge an incident management process, our developers can be on-call faster when we are using this solution, and we can fix our incidents much quicker."
"The alert calling feature is the best because notifications are delivered via phone messages."
"The flexible schedule is the most valuable feature. It was very easy to set out a rotation."
"Technical support is an A+ or a 10/10; if I could give an 11/10, I would, and it is what I love about them."
"The big benefit of using Splunk On-Call is that I know I have a high-performance team, but now I can really measure and prove it."
"Transmogrifier and automatic solution report gives me a report with the solution and the way to solve issues when an error occurred."
"Zabbix is both stable and scalable."
"Our customers also like that they don't have to use multiple modules. Micro Focus and major vendors typically require you to buy several modules and plugins. Our customers do not like that. We offer them a single product for all their monitoring needs."
"Zabbix is quite stable once it is set up. We haven't had any post-setup issues."
"Every new asset placed in the environment can be automatically detected, predicting human failures."
"Zabbix allows us to monitor a lot of hardware equipment without any additional cost."
"The most valuable features are the monitoring and the ease with which we can set it up at customer sites with our custom Zabbix proxy and tools."
"It monitors almost everything."
"If you’re into the Open Source and freedom principles, don’t mind getting your hands dirty, and have the technical skills, Zabbix is a good choice."

Cons

"At that stage, all our needs are fulfilled, but at the beginning, we had some feature requests and they were deployed during their roadmap."
"Should have more YouTube webinars."
"The solution can be improved by including a wider list of permissions."
"Another example is that you cannot check the incidents created in VictorOps from the previous Friday."
"The only feature that we are currently waiting on right now is really kind of an annoyance factor: when we get on the timeline on the main dashboard, there’s an ACK All button."
"User management has to be improved and more user types need to be added as there is currently only Admin or User."
"One area for improvement would be enhancing the mobile app experience."
"There could be improvements with communicating an incident or alert."
"Look and feel."
"I am not giving them a higher rating because they don't have analytics."
"The performance reporting could be improved."
"I am having difficulties connecting it to Grafana, as well as some of the other plugins like Kibana."
"Cloud monitoring can be a bit easier, and the Zabbix dashboard can be developed a little bit more."
"Improvement is needed as per customer requirements."
"The graphical user interface could be customized a little bit more, and also the dashboard could be more friendly."
"The documentation gets a bit messy between versions and is not too detailed, which is a bit painful for first-timers, especially when they run into issues."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The price of the solution could be less expensive."
"There are no licenses."
"It is reasonable."
"My manager is very happy because it doesn't cost anything."
"This solution is open-source and free to use."
"It is worth every cent to pay or even study to do your own installation."
"It is open source. If you want to have a subscription or official support, you can pay for it. They have different plans, which are not that expensive. The plans are based on per monitoring server, not per monitored equipment. So, it is not at all expensive, and you can also live without the support if you want a cheaper option."
"Zabbix is a free solution but the support contact costs money."
"It's free software released under the GNU/GPL license."
