Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"I like Intersight because of the integration with HashiCorp, Kubernetes, and each cloud because Intersight is the IO module.""Intersight can validate our environment.""What I like most about Cisco Intersight is its manageability.""Scalable portfolio of services for remote device management, with good cloud integration. It's also easy to set up.""The tool helps to manage Cisco servers.""Cisco Intersight has valuable features for workflow automation and inventory administration.""Our organization uses Cisco Intersight since it helps manage our physical infrastructure.""We enjoy having an inside view of all the data centers and all the EdgeX nodes within a single portal rather than going into the EdgeX connections one by one."

"One of the things that I like about DX Infrastructure is that the topology is good enough to see what is happening in the infrastructure. You also get alerts if something is happening in the network. There are many features and benefits. It is serving our customers in knowing exactly how their network is performing in terms of reliability. It also helps them in planning the capacity. They know how much bandwidth the branches are consuming.""Great out-of-the-box capability.""It gives an alarm when there's something going on, not just when there's an expected spike that happens every night on a server.""Another division handed us the opportunity to monitor their solutions as written, and UIM was very useful for that.""It reduced cycles for a lot of quick out-of-the-box functionality. It also allowed us to get away from being stuck in SNMP, VTP V2, based off of agent deployment.""The monitoring of the applications to let our business know when things are performing and that they're up and available.""This solution allows us to have an overview of the infrastructure and identify areas where the performance isn't optimal, or where upgrades could be carried out.""Having all of our information within one tool set; our alerts, our monitors, and the things that our operations team needs to function."

Cons
"The solution needs some enhancement in order to build the cluster in two nodes.""It's a very complex solution.""In the future, the solution needs to plan on an extension to cover a broader range of objects since, at present, there are some Cisco devices within the range of Intersight UCS that it can't manage.""The unique problem with Cisco Intersight is that it's not supporting some players.""When new features are added, the service becomes full of bugs.""The product's setup should be easier.""Cisco Intersight needs some improvement in terms of stability. Hybrid cloud management and proper hyperscaler tie-up are other areas for improvement.""An area for improvement in Cisco Intersight is automation. It needs more automation capabilities. Apart from enhanced automation, I want Cisco Intersight to integrate with third-party monitoring tools in its next release."

"The other element is that there are no real templates, out of the box. Let's go with an example where we do have the probe, which is great, and we do have a really nuanced customer with a small set of devices that maybe not a lot of other customers use. There might not be a template in place, so effectively we have the tool in front of us but we still need to develop a solution. So it would be really nice to see a little bit more of something like a central repository of templates that we could use. That would help us expedite our onboarding process.""There should be wider coverage of storage infrastructure.""There is also room for improvement in the reporting. It is not really good enough, according to our customers. So what we now usually do is use Power BI to get them the kinds of reports they want.""DX UIM's reporting and customization need to be improved.""I'm very happy with DX Unified Infrastructure Management, but what could be improved is its user interface because currently, it has many wide spaces. All the information you need is in DX Unified Infrastructure Management, and it's a reliable tool, and though that's more important than the gaps in the user interface being smaller or wider, those gaps still need some improvement. I know the team is working on it. My company had some backend problems with DX Unified Infrastructure Management in the past that have now been solved. The setup for the tool also needs improvement because it's complex. Another room for improvement in DX Unified Infrastructure Management is its technical support because it's sometimes not as knowledgeable or responsive. What I'm suggesting to be added to the tool is an open-standard ELK Elastic-based database where you can put in all data, so that you can use the data in other systems as well.""CA UIM needs some improvement with performance reporting (if we compare it to CA eHealth).""A useful feature to have would be automatic configuration per standard by new robots that check in for any particular customer.""We would like the navigation of this solution to be more user friendly for our system administrators."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "Cisco Intersight is not cheap, but it's not the most expensive product either."
  • "It's just the standard licensing cost. There are no additional fees."
  • "Cisco Intersight has competitive pricing. On a scale of one to five, my rating for its pricing is four."
  • "You can get a free license for monitoring but need to purchase a license if you need extra control."
  • "The product is cost-effective."

  • "This product is expensive compared to other vendors (SolarWinds, ManageEngine)."
  • "The product-price ratio is better than other brands such as Fortinet or SonicWall."
  • "The license cost depends on the number of probes and robots."
  • "Reasonable setup cost and licensing prices."
  • "CAD $400,000 annually."
  • "Customers pay for the license and the support."
  • "Pricing for DX Unified Infrastructure Management isn't cheap at all. It's a complex tool, so you have to pay more. No one is happy with a large bill to pay, but if it's a complex product and you designed a complex solution to be monitored, it'll be your fault that you need to buy an expensive product, and that would be implicit in the design of DX Unified Infrastructure Management. Monitoring is just a small part of it. Sometimes you have to pay a significant amount of money for a complex yet very good solution."
