The interface is easy to use and gives you a solid overview
The cloud-based deployment was straightforward, but the on-prem deployment was in a highly complex ecosystem. Omada has matured since then. I wouldn't say that it isn't straightforward, but it depends on the customer. A standard deployment is relatively easy, but it can be more painful if you need a lot of customization. We deployed the cloud solution in around four months, nearly meeting the 12-week benchmark. The on-prem deployment took three years. It was a highly complex ecosystem that was dependent on other systems. Depending on the size of your environment, you need a product owner and some specialists for maintenance. My last customer was a university with a complex environment. They had around 12 people involved in maintenance at that organization. Typically, it's between 2-5 people.

Streamlines access management with top-notch support, and a user-friendly interface, making it a highly effective solution for businesses of all sizes
During my evaluation of various products, one standout feature of OneLogin that impressed me was their mobile app for authentication through push notifications. Unlike traditional methods involving rotating codes, the OneLogin app simplifies the process by sending a push notification asking if the login attempt is legitimate. If confirmed, the login proceeds seamlessly. The primary benefit is its user-friendly interface, making it particularly accessible for non-technical users. One aspect I particularly appreciate is their exceptional customer support whenever I've needed assistance. Their sales team has also been highly responsive and helpful in connecting me with necessary resources, although we haven't faced any major challenges.

A mature, capable solution that should be available as a cloud solution
They haven't really evolved the product to the cloud, so they don't have a cloud solution. It's just deployable in the cloud, so in some cases that holds them back in a competitive situation. I don't know if they're intent on taking their solution to the cloud, but if they do, that would be one improvement. It would allow them to be competitive down market in medium to small enterprises. I don't know if they care to address that market or not because it doesn't seem like they've made that move, but that would be one way for them to do that. As for additional features, I would suggest stronger integration. I think enabling more universal industry standard integrations would probably help them with different applications.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The most valuable functionality of the solution for us is that when employees stop working for the municipality, they are automatically disabled in Active Directory. Omada controls that 100 percent. They are disabled for 30 days, and after that time Omada deletes the Active Directory account. The same type of thing happens when we employ a new person. Their information is automatically imported to Omada and they are equipped with the roles and rights so they can do their jobs."
"Surveying is a valuable feature because it allows us to import data and see who has access to what data, for example."
"The most valuable feature in Omada is the governance. We work with other products and other product vendors, but the sweet spot in the market for Omada is where things are heavy on governance."
"It has a very user-friendly interface compared to what we are used to, and it is highly configurable. In the old solution, when we needed to do something, we had to have a programmer sitting next to us, whereas, in Omada Identity, everything is configurable."
"As an administrator, we benefit from a lot of functionality that is available out of the box, but it is also configurable to meet our specific needs."
"What I like most is that we can always find a solution, and we can also find the cause when something goes wrong. I like that the most because everything is in one way or another traceable. That is what I like most. I like its reliability."
"For me, the best feature of Omada Identity is its web interface because it's really easy for users to understand."
"The best feature in Omada Identity is that it enables us to implement standardized employee life cycle processes so that we don't have to create them ourselves. We can then use the standard workflows. The breadth and scope of the solution’s IGA features also fulfill our requirements."
"Documentation."
"Ease of integration with AD."
"The solution allows the user to search logs based on a specific time."
"The single sign-on and the fact that we can integrate everything in one place and control from there were valuable features of this solution."
"Simplicity is the most valuable part of OneLogin."
"The most valuable feature is the ease with which we can manage the sign-on feature."
"Once I made the OneLogin ID, it would essentially make user names and passwords for every application that we had."
"One aspect I particularly appreciate is their exceptional customer support whenever I've needed assistance."
"When doing a review you can either make manual or automatic fulfillment to immediately apply the manager's decision to the system, like removing or adding new permissions to the user account."
"I really like the separation of the duties. It is the most ambitious model in the server because you have to create all the different rules, especially business rules. You have to check with the client and set different policies and rules, and then, you to have refine them. You will notice what is bad in the company and where the real problem is."
"This solution has been around for a long time. It has had lots of successful deployments and releases."
"I like the queries and find the catalog to be comparatively powerful."
"NetIQ Identity Governance has improved the security of my company."
"We’re very satisfied with technical support. Usually we get people with the right knowledge who understand the solution very well."
"You can run reports and verify the access each user has. There is a process that runs automatically for access review. It sends an email to the manager and provides a task for the manager to review the users and access. The manager can approve or reject, and then it goes to the application owner for further review. This feature is especially important in large customer environments, as manual review can be challenging."
"All three functionalities, access certification, the configuration of duties, and role mining - especially role mining - are very advanced compared with the competition."

Cons

"There is room for improvement in Omada's integration capabilities, particularly in streamlining complex integrations and enhancing programming logic for better rule management."
"One thing that we are not so happy about is the user interface. It is a bit dated. I know that they are working on that, but the user interface is quite dated. Currently, it is a little bit difficult to customize the user interface to the need of the business, which is a little bit disappointing. It needs it to be a little bit easier to operate, and it should have a better user interface."
"If you're running Omada on a cloud service, you may have some issues deploying the newest release. Sometimes, the latest release doesn't adapt to the processes we have already installed. Identity Access Management is a critical system for our organization, and we need to ensure that everyone has the same access as they did before the release."
"When the re-certification process is launched that makes Omada very slow. There are performance issues in the current version."
"Improved traceability would be helpful for administrators. For example, let's say a user's permission is being revoked. We can only see the system that has carried out a particular action but not what triggered it. If an event definition or something has changed in the criteria for the permission being removed or something like that, we don't have immediate access to that information. It takes a little detective work."
"Omada Identity has a steep learning curve."
"Omada's performance could be better because we had some latency issues. Still, it's difficult to say how much of that is due to Omada versus the resources used by our other vendors in our on-prem environment. Considering the resources we have invested into making it run well, it's slightly slower than we would expect."
"The architecture of the entire system should also be less complex. The way they process the data is complex."
"To offboard, you have to manually click on this checklist, each of the checkmarks. It would actually be really nice if, for offboarding someone, you just click "offboard" and it automatically runs a script to do that."
"They have downtime twice a year or once in six months. During the downtime, the SSO page did not come up. When users wanted to get to their email, they were redirected to the OneLogin page, but the page did not come up, and MFA and logins failed. It completely crippled us."
"The solution keeps going down for many hours, which impacts the entire company. You can't access any applications. OneLogin Desktop has a huge problem where it locks your computers and you need to reset the whole computer, which is pretty insane."
"This product doesn't necessarily provide us with all of the functionality that we need, such as being able to share passwords with external users."
"In terms of managing the users on a large scale, it would be easier if they had some kind of user management portal."
"I would like better reporting from SmartFactor Authentication when a user is not able to sign in due to a new location, new IP, new device, et cetera."
"More off-hour support."
"OneLogin offers a Virtual LDAP feature that we utilize, although it differs slightly from traditional LDAP servers."
"We need more connectors to cloud applications like AWS."
"The initial setup has room for improvement."
"The solution should provide more connectors in future releases. The solution also should offer more monitoring."
"NetIQ Identity Governance is not flexible. Sometimes, filtering information to provide users with options, such as selecting the application to which they want to request access, can be challenging. It needs to improve application integration as well."
"The product could use more advanced features related to Identity Intelligence."
"Technical support is horrible."
"They haven't really evolved the product to the cloud, so they don't have a cloud solution."
"With NetIQ, you have to install two or more products. It would be better if we could install one product and have one server and one dashboard."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"While Omada Identity carries a premium price tag, it proves to be cost-effective."
"It is expensive. Fortunately, I had a very good procurement manager on my side, but they are expensive. The closest competitors are also very expensive. You get a full-fledged solution that can do everything you dream of, but you pay for everything."
"Omada is too expensive. We are in the automotive industry. The pricing might be high because most of the other customers are in the insurance or banking sectors, but it's steep for an auto supply company."
"Omada continues to be very competitive on pricing, especially on the Omada cloud product."
"The pricing for Omada Identity is fair."
"Being Dutch, I can only say that it is extremely expensive, but all software products are expensive. If you have 38,000 users, then even one dollar or one euro per person would amount to a significant amount of money. Because of the high number of users, anything gets expensive very fast here."
"The pricing is okay."
"The initial total cost of ownership to implement Omada Identity is not small. The TCO for the implementation is as high as any other solution. However, the cost of maintaining the solution is at par or lower than competitors, including adding more features or maintaining the system after the initial deployment or installation to make sure that they are available for users to use or extending the functionalities of those activities. Those maintenance costs are lower than other vendors, but the initial cost of getting the system installed is still high."
"The price of the licensing is fine."
"We were happy with the price we got when we signed up, but I don't know what will happen when the time comes to renew because it is a different company now. We haven't seen any pricing models or had that discussion yet. My renewal is a year and a half away. It's worth what we're paying for it. There's no way we could provide the level of service for cheaper or try to do the same in-house."
"The pricing for OneLogin seems to be okay. The pricing and licensing are affordable. If you'd consider OneLogin to be expensive, it's worth it."
"It was cheap in the beginning, and then it became very expensive. We were initially charged $2 per user per month, which was fine, but by the second year, they increased it to $5 per user. That became very expensive for us because we had about 1,500 users. At $2 per user, it comes out to be $3,000 a month, which is $36,000 a year. If we move to $5 per user, it comes out to be $7,500 a month. That made its cost so high. That is why we removed the product because the cost was high."
"The pricing and licensing are reasonable. It is much cheaper than other products."
"While I wish OneLogin's pricing was more affordable, their licensing model, which is based on per user, is acceptable."
"Surprisingly expensive given the price of on-premise solutions."
"OneLogin's pricing, from the perspective of the education sector, seems quite reasonable for the value it delivers."
"I give the cost a nine out of ten."
"In terms of pricing, the tool seems a bit cheaper compared to other SaaS solutions."
"It's expensive relative to the cloud solutions that are out there."
