Comparison Results: Trellix offers a comprehensive management console and easy setup process, with a wide range of features. However, it could improve in terms of agent communication and user experience. In contrast, VMware Carbon Black Endpoint has a more challenging initial setup but excels in continuous monitoring, incident detection and response. It could benefit from improvements in areas such as GUI, integration, and support. Overall, Trellix may have an advantage in user-friendly setup and management, while Carbon Black stands out in threat detection and response capabilities.
"NGAV and EDR features are outstanding."
"The price is low and quite competitive with others."
"We have FortiEDR installed on all our systems. This protects them from any threats."
"Exceptions are easy to create and the interface is easy to follow with a nice appearance."
"The features that I have found most valuable are the ability to customize it and to reduce its size. It lets you run in a very small window in terms of memory and resources on legacy cash registers."
"Fortinet FortiEDR made our clients feel secure and more at ease, knowing that they had an EDR solution that would close the gap in their security posture."
"It is very easy to set up. I would rate my experience with the initial setup a ten out of ten, with ten being very easy to set up."
"Additionally, when it comes to EDR, there are more tools available to assist with client work."
"The product’s stability and security features enhance user protection and organizational security."
"It has a very simple like multi-tenancy option and scalability is outstanding."
"The solution is broken down into different components from the portals. Web filtering, which is an added feature has been great for us."
"I think the costing is fine compared to other products. Cost-wise you definitely get value for your money."
"Initially, the DLP was very valuable for disabling access to USB drives."
"The solution provides dashboard control, so we can centrally monitor the entire status of our organization."
"There is a new feature where you can set thresholds for all the CPU consumption allowing for no consumption on the servers when the scans happen. It is a separate plugin or addon, and if we have it on all the virtual machines it automatically checks the resources, and based on that, it will schedule the scans. That is something that I have not seen in other antivirus solutions, such as Symantec."
"The solution is stable."
"You can deploy it through the cloud so that even if your stuff is outside of your controlled environment, you are still under control, based on the policies you create. The policies are controlled through the cloud. For example, if I don't allow anyone to do a certain activity or to install a particular app, and a consultant or a partner who is not part of our environment is doing so, it will stop them as well."
"Carbon Black CB Defense has helped improve my organization by allowing us to have better data so that we can do correlation and get visibility into the alerts."
"I rate Carbon Black CB Defense an eight out of ten for the ease of its initial setup."
"I like its protection very much. It protects and allows us to lock the environment pretty tightly. Nothing that is not approved through Carbon Black can run in the environment. There is no default. Everything goes through Carbon Black Protect, and everything has to be first approved. Every software is considered to be guilty before prove innocent."
"It has the best live response feature."
"The solution is stable."
"We have another piece of that infrastructure that does what they call threat emulation. It's like sandboxing where it takes files that it doesn't know about, puts them in a VM-type environment, and it kicks them off to see if there's any malware or tendencies that might look like malware, that kind of thing."
"It has intelligent learning behind it and we have been very successful in preventing attacks."
"We find the solution to be a bit expensive."
"The dashboard isn't easy to access and manage."
"We've had a lot of false positives; things incorrectly flagged that require manual configuration to allow. Even worse, after we allow a legitimate program, it sometimes gets flagged again after an update. This has caused a lot of extra work for my team."
"Everything with Fortinet having to do with their cloud services. They need to invest more in their internal infrastructure that they are running in the cloud. One of the things I find with their cloud environment compared to others' is that they go cheap on the equipment. So it causes some performance degradation."
"FortiEDR can be improved by providing more detailed reporting."
"I think cloud security and SASE are areas of concern in the product where improvements are required. The tool's cloud version has to be improved in terms of the security it offers."
"The EDR console should have more extensive reporting. You shouldn't need to purchase FortiAnalyzer. It should be included in the EDR part. The security adviser cloud platform could be improved with more options for exclusive or intensive rules for devices."
"We'd like to see more one-to-one product presentations for the distribution channels."
"We don't like the solution since it requires much memory consumption and consumes much CPU resources."
"The security of this solution needs improvement."
"The solution takes up a high amount of memory and can cause the system to hang."
"Trying to move away from the signature model for antivirus and malware blocking is something that would be nice. Instead of having to update every day, which is signature-based, moving to more of a kernel or architecture-based model would probably be beneficial."
"I've encountered minor challenges related to encryption."
"Tech support is not as helpful as they were in the past."
"We experienced some bad behavior when we first installed the product. The system also starts slowly in some instances. If for some reason this solution crashes, we could lose all our data."
"The solution should provide a more easy way to uninstall it on specific stations."
"The support is poor."
"The local technical support is very poor, but the support from headquarters is very nice."
"As far as I know, Carbon Defense has nothing that can be installed on mobile devices. It lacks a defense solution for mobile devices, especially mobile tablets. I would like to see support for mobile devices and the pricing should be less than the pricing for a normal workstation."
"At this point, we're test-bedding several other providers right now to see if there's anything that does equally or better and that comes at a better price point."
"The solution has to mature on container security and a lot of cloud environment security."
"The device control feature could also be compatible with the user’s profile as well."
"Right now, Carbon Black CB Defense doesn't support cloud computing and Kubernetes."
"Report generation can be improved."
