We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The most valuable features are the ability to revoke rights after sending the document, and shoulder browsing protection."

More BlackBerry Workspaces Pros →

"The solution is easy to use.""What I like most about Dropbox is that it's very, very easy to use. It's also easy to share files through it.""The initial setup is simple and straightforward.""It is straightforward and works seamlessly.""Irrespective of the geographical location that you are present in, and even if you don't have any storage devices, you can access your data and files with the help of Dropbox.""The product's initial setup phase was straightforward.""Dropbox offers helpful functionalities for business purposes, such as receiving file requests from external parties like customers who don't have an account. Additionally, it includes features, such as reminders and workflow capabilities.""The initial setup is extremely easy."

More Dropbox Pros →

"The most valuable feature is the ability to easily build intranet sites for communicating within teams, storing documentation, product information, pricing policies, updates on product infrastructure, and other related news.""The access control is definitely a good feature. We also appreciate the improvements they've made to the online applications, where multiple users can work on the same documents simultaneously. Everything syncs automatically.""It improved transparency around work products.""The search feature is valuable.""The ability to take Excel files and make them dynamic SharePoint lists with instant reporting capabilities has been a major benefit.""What I like about SharePoint is that they keep up with a lot of updates, and they bring out new features. I also like that the system is integrated with the Microsoft 365 suite of apps.""It has made us faster and more efficient.""It has good integration with other MS products."

Cons
"I would like to see workflow implementation, as well as a lite version for non-business users."

More BlackBerry Workspaces Cons →

"Dropbox could improve by increasing its storage.""They can provide more storage. Data is something that everybody is after. Any organization that has the requirement of data for any type of analysis will definitely need increased storage.""The solution could be a bit less expensive.""The price for storage space is a little expensive.""A room for improvement in Dropbox is document editing. It would be nice to have the functionality of editing the document with other people at the same time. This is something that can be done on Office 365, and it's a feature I'd like to see in the next release of Dropbox.""It could be more secure.""I find it a little hard to organize my Dropbox folders on my mobile device.""The price is expensive for individual users."

More Dropbox Cons →

"The support is the worst. It is bad when Microsoft support does not even know what to do and you have to tell them. Also, they take too long to solve a problem.""There are some limitations on storage.""This solution would benefit from the implementation of enhanced online forms and template development capabilities.""The company also needs to make sure that their policies are dictating how information is stored and used, instead of letting SharePoint take control.""There's a challenge with desktop applications synchronizing with online documents in real-time. If someone is working on a document in the desktop version of Excel, for example, and someone else is editing the same document online, the changes won't sync immediately. That's the only real challenge we've encountered.""Annoyingly, many new Office 365 apps always end up being only US locale for the first year of their life. Microsoft needs to realise that most of their customers are not in the USA.""The initial setup was very complex.""I would like a simpler, more cost-effective solution for connecting data sources with workflows and BI tools, or data mining tools."

Pricing and Cost Advice
Information Not Available
  • "Dropbox offers a freemium model which is very convenient and affordable. Beyond that, the pricing is favorable."
  • "Given the price and limitations, there are more competitive options available."
  • "A bigger discount for existing users would be appreciated."
  • "I am using the free solution, which provides me with 2GBs of storage, and for me, it's sufficient."
  • "Its price is quite cheap. It is quite competitive. You just need to pay for the license. There are no additional costs."
  • "You pay as you go, which is a good thing. There is a monthly fee, and you can also pay annually. This flexibility makes the subscription easier and affordable for some of us. I prefer yearly pricing, which is also slightly cheaper than monthly pricing."
  • "It has some free features, but for some of the features, you need to pay. If you need more storage, then you need to pay. Its licensing probably is on a monthly basis."
  • "I am on a monthly subscription for the solution and I am somewhat satisfied with the pricing. However, the price could a bit better."
  • More Dropbox Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "As usual, Microsoft’s licensing structures don’t really seem to fit the needs of their products. This leads to always paying for a project you will never use fully or always be adding to."
  • "Licensing can be by server or by seat."
  • "It is very expensive."
  • "The data classification and search elements are cheap."
  • "The replacement costs for it are cheaper if you use only SharePoint."
  • "We have purchased add-ons to handle multiple site collections, form creation, and design."
  • "The cost is expensive, but worthwhile."
  • "The pricing works for us."

    Comparison Review

At Mediacurrent we often get requests to compare Drupal to other platforms used for intranet sites and social business platforms (like https://dev.twitter.com/ for example). This is often referred to as “Social Business Software”, which has grown in popularity in recent years. I decided to do a round-up of a couple of the more well known platforms and compare their products to Drupal. In this roundup we will be comparing Jive, Sharepoint and Drupal Commons. Drupal Commons is a popular distribution created by Acquia to compete with some of these other proprietary platforms. There are many other options out there, commercial and otherwise, to compare with Drupal but I want to focus on Jive and Sharepoint for a couple of reasons. I chose Jive because it is one of the leading competitors in this space in respect to market share. Next, I chose Sharepoint because I have some history with Sharepoint. This experience dates back to when I built www.adhe.edu with Sharepoint 2007 a few years ago. I subsequently wrote this blog entry about my experience shortly after joining Mediacurrent. This roundup will also act as a refresher for those who read my original “Drupal vs. Sharepoint” blog. Yammer, which was recently bought by Microsoft and is the tool we currently use for office communication will also get some mentions throughout this article. As I went through and tested each of these tools I used three main criteria in my evaluation Cost Ability to Customize Overall features… Read more →
