A good operating system that is stable and reliable
Pros and Cons
  • "I've been very satisfied with this operating system."
  • "I want a more stable version of the Linux interface that you can use within Windows 10."

What is our primary use case?

The solution is primarily used for running persona applications on my laptop. We run several types of applications on it.

What is most valuable?

I've been very satisfied with this operating system.

It's totally stable and secure.

What needs improvement?

There are always some small things here and there that could be better, however, for the most part, I have been happy with its capabilities and cannot recall coming across missing features.

I want a more stable version of the Linux interface that you can use within Windows 10. Sometimes the connections are broken or it doesn't work after a while. When that happens, I have to restart my laptop and so on. It would be ideal if it was simply more stable so that these issues didn't occur.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using the solution for ten years. It's been a decade at this point. I've used it for a while.

I've never been in touch with technical support and cannot speak to how helpful or responsive the support team from Microsoft is.

We likely previously used Windows 7. That was a really long time ago. I've worked with Windows 7 and I also have experience with the Linux version.

I cannot speak to the initial implementation process or how easy or difficult it is to execute. I was not involved in the setup in any way.

I'd rate the solution at an eight out of ten. I've been pretty happy with its overall capabilities.

A robust operating system that's easy to use
Pros and Cons
  • "I like that it's easy to use, and it seems to be more robust than Windows 7."
  • "Support could be better."

What is our primary use case?

We use it for simple office projects.

What is most valuable?

I like that it's easy to use, and it seems to be more robust than Windows 7.

What needs improvement?

Support could be better.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using Windows 10 for three to four years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Windows 10 seems to be stable, so far so good.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Windows 10 is scalable, and it's very easy.

How are customer service and technical support?

Microsoft support, in general, definitely has some areas for improvement. The response time could definitely be improved, and the quality of responses.

Sometimes they just get the things from a book or the information that I can always research on Google myself. When I ask for their help, I'm really asking for some insider tricks or tips. Not something off Google that I can find myself.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We used to use Windows 7. But we switched to Windows 10 because you cannot get any updates. Windows 10 is obviously more stable than Windows 7. I can say that it's easier to use and more stable.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is quite simple. You can install Windows 10 within 30 minutes. But if you have to customize it for your colleagues, that can take up to two hours. All maintenance and updates happen automatically.

What about the implementation team?

I installed it by myself.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

When we purchase a new machine, it comes with it, and we don't pay separately for the license.

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend Windows 10 to potential users.

On a scale from one to ten, I would give Windows 10 an eight.

This version has easier settings
Pros and Cons
  • "I think the settings are better. It has a better user experience."
  • "I have some challenges with the search box. It's a good tool, but sometimes there are some problems. For example, I can't find an application that I installed earlier."

What is our primary use case?

Windows 10 is an upgrade to our system and they installed it on computers. At work, it's dependent on our job. I'm a business analyst, so I use it for searching and writing.

What is most valuable?

The settings in this version are easier. For example in previous version 7, the settings were really complex. There were a lot of options. Most of the time, we had to search and read about everything. It's really better in Windows 10.

It's really slow on my laptop, but I think the settings are better. It has a better user experience.

What needs improvement?

I have some challenges with the search box. It's a good tool, but sometimes there are some problems. For example, I can't find an application that I installed earlier.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is stable. We have between 50 to 100 users who use it my company.

How are customer service and technical support?

I don't use technical support. If I have a problem, I can look it up myself.

How was the initial setup?

The installation is better than the previous version. I remember more than 10 years ago, sometimes we had to call experts who would come and do the process for me because I couldn't install an operating system on my computer. Nowadays it's easier. I think even a child could install the operating system on a computer. It's not complex. It's really easy.

If I want to change my operating system, it takes four to five hours. I have to check all of my data and then transfer the password to a secure external for storage.  Then the installation is only one hour. After that, I take the time to install some useful applications like Microsoft Office, players, and Internet browsers.

What other advice do I have?

I recommend it to everybody. Learn about it, learn how to install Windows, how to resolve challenges and problems.

I would rate Windows 10 an eight out of ten. Windows needs to cut down because sometimes it's a little complex.

Stable with great updates and an easy user experience
Pros and Cons
  • "It offers an easy user experience for our customers."
  • "Users should be able to access the system remotely."

What is our primary use case?

We primarily use the solution alongside a system center configuration manager. I am installing it on mobile devices to upgrade and update the security.

What is most valuable?

The solution is modern and updated often.

It offers an easy user experience for our customers.

We find the product to be quite stable.

You can scale the solution easily when you need to.

What needs improvement?

The solution could be improved by simultaneously adding more features and also giving the user more ability to decrease some features to help keep the speed of the device decent.

Users should be able to access the system remotely.

The solution should be more responsive and faster.

It would be helpful if the solution was able to integrate better with other platforms, like Android or Apple.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using the solution for five years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is quite stable. We don't seem to have any bugs or glitches on the system. It doesn't crash or freeze at all. I consider it to be reliable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution is highly scalable. From Windows 7 to 8 to 10, you can upgrade at any time and you can add storage and remote access. A company that needs to expand it shouldn't have any issues.

Currently, we have more than 3,000 uses on the product. We do plan to increase usage int eh future.

How are customer service and technical support?

We've used technical support in the past and have found them to be very knowledgable and responsive. I'd rate them nine out of ten in terms of the service they provide.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is not complex. It's pretty straightforward.

Deployment took about three years. We had to upgrade many files from Windows 7 to Windows 10. There were some minor issues with the process, however, we were able to overcome them.

We have four people on staff that handle deployment and maintenance.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

There are different licenses available, however, I don't know what the costs are. It's not a part of the solution I handle.

What other advice do I have?

We're just customers. We don't have a business relationship with Microsoft.

I'd recommend the solution. I believe a lot of people and companies already use it, to be honest. However, I do need to pay more for monitoring and to fix some issues related to the product.

I'd rate the solution nine out of ten.

User-friendly and is updated regularly, but the security needs to be improved
Pros and Cons
  • "It is easy to operate and perform any tasks."
  • "If you need servers to be deployed in a production environment then you definitely want to look at a different operating system."

What is our primary use case?

We are a service company and we use a variety of products that are guided by the clients' requirements. Windows 10 is one of the operating systems that we use for this.

What is most valuable?

I like the fact that it is user-friendly. It is easy to operate and perform any tasks.

It is easy to train others in the use of Windows 10.

What needs improvement?

If you need servers to be deployed in a production environment then you definitely want to look at a different operating system. From an end-user point of view, I don't see in issues in using Windows.

Improvements should be made to security, making it more resistant to hacking and malware.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Windows 10 for more than five years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

If you are looking at production systems then you are definitely going to have an issue with Windows. For normal users that don't require much in terms of system capacity, it is okay. It is quite manageable from the perspective of a normal user.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We are a small organization and everybody uses Windows.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We also use Linux, depending on the client.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is straightforward and easy to understand.

What other advice do I have?

They have been evolving Windows 10 since it was released. Every time we open it, there is something new. It used to be that email and other utilities were on the system, but now they are cloud-based. Whether the older or newer interfaces are better, or not, doesn't matter because you get used to it and move along.

In summary, Windows 10 is a good operating system and I recommend it.

I would rate this solution a seven out of ten.
