Highly stable, good interface, and easy to implement
Pros and Cons
  • "It is stable. I have a lot of applications running on it, and all the applications are running fine. I don't have any problems with it."
  • "It would be helpful if Windows had its own antivirus to protect the OS. They should provide an antivirus with it."

What is our primary use case?

I am using it as an operating system. My two daughters and I are using Windows 10 on three laptops at home, and it is working very well.

What is most valuable?

It is stable. I have a lot of applications running on it, and all the applications are running fine. I don't have any problems with it.

Its interface is very nice, cool, and easy to use.

What needs improvement?

Its cost is very high and should be reduced.

It would be helpful if Windows had its own antivirus to protect the OS. They should provide an antivirus with it.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is highly stable. It is more stable than Windows 7, and it also has inbuilt security updates. It seems that it has been tested with a lot of end-users. It is working fine, and there are no issues.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is scalable, but it would require more resources. It requires 8GB RAM to work fine. Initially, my desktop had only 4GB, so there was some slowness, but with 8GB RAM, it is working very well. There are no issues.

How are customer service and support?

I hardly needed any support because a lot of resources and groups are available, and we just go through these resources.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I was using Windows 7. Windows 10 is more stable than Windows 7.

I have also used Ubuntu Linux and other free operating systems, but they don't have a good GUI like Windows 10. I am also not able to find a lot of applications that run on them.

How was the initial setup?

It is easy to implement. I upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10, and it took a maximum of 30 minutes.

What about the implementation team?

I installed it myself.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I have taken the full license, but its cost is very high. Its cost should be reduced.

What other advice do I have?

I would definitely recommend this solution. I would rate Windows 10 a 10 out of 10.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

On-premises

Feature-rich, intuitive, fast, and integrates well with third-party applications
Pros and Cons
  • "I like that it has many features that are easily displayed."
  • "It is incompatible with some communications when you need to share some data."

What is our primary use case?

We use Windows 10 to manage clients, the CRM or ERP such as SAP or Microsoft Dynamics.

What is most valuable?

Windows 10 is an established operating system. It's a good solution.

It is easy and simple to use, and it's also fast.

It's a quiet operating system, that integrates well with third-party applications.

I like that it has many features that are easily displayed.

It is also very intuitive. For example, if I have a printer with no drivers, the Windows Operating System installs it for me. This makes everything easier for me.

What needs improvement?

We are always excited and interested to learn about new features. It would be helpful to know of the newly available features in advance.

I would prefer to talk to the computer as I would speak to a secretary rather than use the keyboard. It would be nice to be able to speak to the computer and ask it to do certain functions or tasks. A voice-activated assistant would be very helpful.

When compared to MacIntosh, or Linux, it would be helpful to include some of their operating system philosophy.

It is incompatible with some communications when you need to share some data.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Windows 10 for ten years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I don't have any issues with the stability of Windows 10.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Windows 10 is a scalable product.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We also use Windows Server. It's a good operating system. The features meet the requirements of the network.

With Windows Server, the user can print, use the internet, and can use some applications. It is a good characteristic for one server. You don't need several servers because one Windows Server is sufficient.

I would rate Windows Server a nine out of ten.

Windows Server is a scalable product, and it is also stable.

Windows Server integrates well.

How was the initial setup?

I have some common issues with Windows when running the setup again. Sometimes it is difficult because of the new features that have been added. Given the time to learn about them, it would be easier for me.

The initial setup can sometimes be simple and other times it can be complex. For a new user, it may be complex.

What other advice do I have?

I started working with Windows in 1993.

I would rate Windows 10 a nine out of ten.

Scales well, stable, and easy to setup
Pros and Cons
  • "We like the productivity."
  • "The update cycle could use some improvement."

What is our primary use case?

Our main use for Windows 10 is as a platform to host our enterprise applications.

What is most valuable?

We like the productivity.

Most importantly, it's everywhere.

The compatibility of applications factor is the main reason to choose the Microsoft operating system.

What needs improvement?

The update cycle could use some improvement. There have been a lot of zero-day security issues that have mostly been met, but, the way Microsoft handled these could sometimes be less user disruptive.

It could be more secure, which is our main concern from a company's perspective.

The technical support could also be improved.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using Windows 10 since 2015.

We are using the latest version.

We deployed it on-premises and it has also been deployed as Azure Virtual Desktop.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is stable enough for our purposes.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Windows 10 is definitely scalable. We have 300 users in our organization who use it.

How are customer service and technical support?

Technical support is a bit varied. Depending on the type of technical support that you need, most are very responsive and usually, they are quite knowledgeable.

There is definitely room for improvement, especially with more complex and less straightforward questions. It tends to stay in the area of data gathering.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is straightforward. It is easy to install.

The length of time for deployment depends on the scale,

On a one-for-one basis, and using the automation tools that are provided with additional licensing, we use Microsoft Endpoint manager for this. it doesn't take very much time.

We have three people to manage it on a day-to-day basis.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Pricing depends on the type of license. If you are an enterprise customer, you can pay for licensing on a monthly basis.

We, however, are an educations firm, we pay for our licensing on an annual basis. It also depends on the relationship you have with Microsoft.

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend this solution to others who are interested in using it.

On a scale from one to ten, I would rate Windows 10 an eight.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Easy to setup, with enhanced performance and graphics
Pros and Cons
  • "It is also more stable than previous versions of Windows 10."
  • "They should change their policy to include some basic support for more than just updates."

What is our primary use case?

Windows 10 is the end user's operating system. It is installed on our laptops.

It is an end-user, end-device operating system that provides users who want to establish their own workspace, to continue their day-to-day work.

What is most valuable?

When you compare with the previous generations of Windows, the graphics have been enhanced as well as the performance.

It is also more stable than previous versions of Windows.

What needs improvement?

As it is an operating system, it needs more support.

They should change their policy to include some basic support for more than just updates. We require limited support for customers and issues.

For example, Microsoft has what is known as the blue screen of death or BSOD.

When you experience BSOD, the operating system is corrupted. It needs to be reconfigured or reinstalled, and you have to reconfigure all of the applications as well. For this to be done, the customer must create a ticket with their support services to guide them in the possible steps that are available.

If they could provide some remote assistance, it would help the end users to become self-sufficient and reduce the overall IT maintenance overhead.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Windows 10 since it was launched.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability of the solution has improved. Windows 10 is a stable solution compared to previous versions.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It's a scalable solution.

I have seen environments where lakhs (100,000s) of end-users are using Windows 10.

How are customer service and technical support?

They should provide remote assistance.

Microsoft needs to work on the support. Even with an S1 production loss ticket, Microsoft does not provide priority support. When they are charging for it, they should provide support for it.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is straightforward.

The length of time it takes to deploy is dependant on the configuration. If it is a good configuration, it can take 15 minutes or less to deploy.

Windows 10 does not require a technical team to maintain it. Microsoft provides Windows updates or we use SCCM and other patch management tools to update it for us.

What about the implementation team?

Anyone can complete the installation, it does not require help from an integrator or a consultant.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Microsoft charges a lot for every license, but they don't provide support with it by default.

Instead of charging for support, they should provide support with it.

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend this solution for anyone who wants to set up their own workspace.

I am satisfied with the functionality of the product but not the support.

I would rate Windows 10 a nine out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

An operating system that's pretty stable
Pros and Cons
  • "I like how Windows 10 is quite stable."
  • "It would be better if there were more integration with Linux and Azure."

What is our primary use case?

I use it mainly as the operating system for my tech development work. I'm running some kind of research studio and a database on this.

What is most valuable?

I like how Windows 10 is quite stable.

What needs improvement?

It would be better if there were more integration with Linux and Azure.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Windows 10 for several years. I got it when it first came out.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I've been in business since 1980, so I have used many operating systems like Sun. That's what it was called before Oracle bought them.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is straightforward, but it takes some time to download and implement this solution.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I don't pay for my personal use. However, my company certainly has some licenses, but I'm not aware of what they pay for them.

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend this solution to new users.

On a scale from one to ten, I would give Windows 10 a nine.

Mature, stable, and easy to install
Pros and Cons
  • "The solution is stable."
  • "Linux is more secure, and, although this solution has come a long way, it would be helpful if they could continue to develop the security aspects of the product."

What is our primary use case?

We primarily use it as a secure operating system. I'm using an operating system in an environment like a bank. Right now, it's a trendy system to use.

What is most valuable?

Windows is a mature product now and it's secure enough compared to its past versions. There are other operating systems, even if you like Linux or Mac, however, this product now has an acceptable risk level and it's improved over the years.

I'm in a banking environment and I'll see people are using the operating system for everything.

The solution is stable.

The product is easy to install.

What needs improvement?

What I am expecting is that soon this will be their last product for me, however, if they go for the next Windows version, that they'll definitely change the kernel to Linux from the current one. Linux is more secure, and, although this solution has come a long way, it would be helpful if they could continue to develop the security aspects of the product.

There likely should be fewer releases going forward.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using the solution for around two years at this point. It's been a while.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability has been good. There are no bugs or glitches and it doesn't crash or freeze. It's reliable. We had an issue only once about three months ago, where there was an update after which there was application crashed. That said, as a whole, yes, it is a stable operating system.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It's an operating system, and therefore, there isn't really anything about it that needs to scale. It's not an aspect that you need to worry about.

We have 5,000 users on the solution currently.

How are customer service and technical support?

I don't directly deal with technical support. I cannot speak to how helpful or responsive they are.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I've used multiple solutions in the past, including Fedora, CentOS, and Ubuntu - both server and client versions.

I've been switching the operating system based on requirements since 2008. Before 2008, I would stick to Windows only.

How was the initial setup?

The product is very simple to implement. Any kid can install it. It's just a matter of clicks. Nowadays, almost every operating system is a matter of clicks. Installation is not an issue.

I'm not sure how much of a technical team we have to handle any maintenance responsibilities.

What other advice do I have?

I'd rate the solution at an eight out of ten. We've been pleased with its overall capabilities.

Whether or not I would recommend the solution depends on the company. If it's working on open source, then it should stick to Linux. If it's working on closed source too and the company is not worried about the source or any application on the Linux system, then they should remain on Windows. Basically, it depends on the usage.

User friendly and very reliable
Pros and Cons
  • "Very reliable and user friendly."
  • "Could be easier to manage and use."

What is our primary use case?

I'm a manager of data center facilities and we are customers of Microsoft.

What is most valuable?

This solution is very user friendly and reliable.

What needs improvement?

I'd like to see less restrictions on the use so it would be easier to use and manage.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using this product for over 10 years.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is pretty straightforward. It's pushed down from the server, so it's usually  quite fast. The deployment is done in-house and we have around 10,000 users.

What other advice do I have?

I rate this solution an eight out of 10.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
