Easy to set up and use with a very nice GUI
Pros and Cons
  • "The product is quite user-friendly and easy to navigate."
  • "The security could be improved. I have had colleagues who have gotten their files corrupted somehow."

What is our primary use case?

We are using this operating system for all of the functionality on offer. We have different machines on which we are using Eggplant to perform the functional testing. All those machines are currently on Windows 10 only since users have been using Windows 10 already, and it's quite user-friendly.

In all the cases where machines are present, we are performing the test over Windows 10 and using this Eggplant with all the different types of applications for the functionality users. Based on those tests, we are capturing data.

How has it helped my organization?

In the previous versions, you could get a copy of data or pirated data also, however, with Windows 10, as it is genuine software, it helped us a lot in avoiding this. It also has added security features and auto-updates. The upgrading of the software is very easy now.

What is most valuable?

The product is quite user-friendly and easy to navigate.

The GUI is quite impressive. We don't need to go into any command-line interface. Most of the things you can use with the click of a mouse.

The initial setup is very easy.

What needs improvement?

Sometimes we getting slowness issues while performing some heavy operations. We aren't multitasking or anything, however, some heavy load is there. In those times, Windows 10 is not responding as we would like it to. They need to improve this.

As of now, I haven't seen many ain points per see. However, whether we're upgrading the software or clearing the cache, it would help us if the solution was more responsive.

The security could be improved. I have had colleagues who have gotten their files corrupted somehow.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using the solution for maybe three or four years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It's quite stable and is easy to work with as you don't need very special skills.

As of now, I haven't had any downtime or any blockage due to the software or OS. Of course, the slowness issue sometimes stops us a lot. The upgrades can be frustrating as they sometimes start an update when we are working. If it's between the working times, it's not a problem.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is quite easy to integrate add-on solutions and we've found that the scalability is fine in Windows 10. You don't have to do anything extra in that we can install easily, and we can use the software easily wherever it's required.

Within my team, my project, all of us are using Windows 10 since the project itself is dependent on Windows 10. We have around 10 people on our project. We are senior consultants, test engineers, test analysts, project managers, and test analysts.

How are customer service and technical support?

We haven't reached out to technical support. Right now, things are running smoothly and therefore there's no reason to be in touch. Therefore, I can't speak to how helpful or responsive they are.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Previously, we may have been using Windows 7. We haven't used a different operating system. It's always been Microsoft.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is very straightforward. It's not a complex process at all.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

We have an in-built, permanent license. I can't speak to how much it costs our company.

What other advice do I have?

I'm just a customer and an end-user.

I would recommend this solution. It's not ideal for very heavy projects, however, for moderate or medium-type of projects that do not have a very heavy load or too much multitasking, Windows 10 is excellent.

Windows 10 makes for pretty comfortable working. It doesn't need users to be experienced in anything. If you want to start a new thing with Windows 10 OS, you don't need to worry about that. You can get into it easily. You don't need to have knowledge of any specific things so that you can catch up with the solution and how to use it easily.

I'd rate the solution at an eight out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Easy to setup, but the patch security management updates could be faster
Pros and Cons
  • "Windows 10 is stable."
  • "The updates take a lot of time to complete, and they could be faster."

What is our primary use case?

We use Windows 10 for our personal operating system on all of our desktops, laptops, and our tablets.

What needs improvement?

The main issue is related to the patch security management that is released. The updates take a lot of time to complete, and they could be faster.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using Windows 10 for the last three to four years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Windows 10 is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We have approximately 150 users in our organization.

How are customer service and technical support?

The technical support is fine. They have the help support and you can Google it to get your support.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We have only used Windows. All versions of Windows have been used such as Windows 95, Windows XP, Windows 2000, and Windows 7.

How was the initial setup?

The installation is straightforward. It's a guided installation that anyone can do.

We need a team of two or three people to maintain this solution.

What about the implementation team?

We were able to complete the installation ourselves.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The pricing is expensive. When compared with other Operating Systems, such as Linux-based solutions, it's expensive.

When we purchase any computer, we purchase the software, the operating system, and the hardware.

It is bundled, but if you purchase it individually it's expensive.

The price could be improved.

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend this solution to others.

From an operating system perspective, I would rate Windows 10 a seven out of 10.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

On-premises

Reliable, with many updates and patching through the cloud, and it's easy to install
Pros and Cons
  • "It provides us with very good updates and security patching that is required."
  • "The price could be cheaper."

What is our primary use case?

The operating system is the heart of the laptop or the heart of your system. It is where you use all your applications. Underneath the operating system is where you have the processor.

In order to run all of your applications, you need to use the operating system.

What is most valuable?

It provides us with very good updates and security patching that is required. It is done through the internet and gone are the days where you needed a disc for the updates.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Windows 10 for three years.

I use it on my laptop, but the upgrades are done through the cloud.

I am using the latest version.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Windows 10 is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Scalability is not something that really applies to an operating system. It's not an application that is run for 10 users as an example.

We have 5,000 peoplein our organization who are using Windows 10.

How are customer service and technical support?

I have an IT team that deals with technical support. They have a better view of what the support is like.

Microsoft is such a large corporation, I am sure they have very good technical support.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have always used Windows 10.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is pretty straightforward. Windows 10 is standardized. It's easy.

There really isn't any maintenance required. it's pretty easy. You need to update and run some security tests and maybe some patching, but there are pop-ups that come up to click, making it super easy.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I am not sure about the pricing. It might be $1,000 per license. The price goes down by the number of licenses.

The price could be cheaper. Not very cheap but cheaper.

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend Windows 10 to anyone who wants to use this as an operating system.

I would rate Windows 10 a nine out of ten.

Straightforward to set up with good stability and lots of troubleshooting information available online
Pros and Cons
  • "The solution has been very stable."
  • "The time it takes to initially install the solution could be a bit less. Right now, it takes a few hours. We'd like it to be faster."

What is our primary use case?

We primarily use the solution for document processing and the database for using Excel. In my case, I use a lot of Excel and Microsoft Word. I tend to stick to Office applications and Microsoft applications only.

What is most valuable?

We are upgrading the physical RAM in order to use the open drive.

We've been familiarizing ourselves with the features.

The initial setup was quite straightforward.

The solution has been very stable.

You can easily find answers to any questions you have online.

What needs improvement?

I haven't extensively explored all of the features and aspects of the solution.

The time it takes to initially install the solution could be a bit less. Right now, it takes a few hours. We'd like it to be faster.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using the solution for three years at this point. It's been a while.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is now quite stable. At the beginning, we are facing some problems, however, nowadays, after all of these software patches and security patches, it's quite stabilized. There are no more issues. Its performance is very reliable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I consider myself an average user and therefore have never attempted to scale the product. I'm not sure how it would go. I have never tried.

How are customer service and technical support?

I've never reached out to technical support directly. Usually, if I run into issues, I Google answers and troubleshoot by myself. Therefore, I can't speak to how helpful or responsive they would be.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We updated from a previous Windows version - either Windows 7 or 8.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was very straightforward and simple. It's not overly complex or difficult.

The installation process took a few hours, as we were upgrading from an old Windows version to Windows 10

What about the implementation team?

I have handled all aspects of the implementation myself. By myself, I have handled the upgrading, auto-upgrading, downloading, and installation by myself. I did not need the help of an integrator or consultant.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The software and hardware tend to get bundled together in the final price. I can't speak to the exact pricing, as it's not an aspect of the product I deal with.

What other advice do I have?

We have the solution deployed to our desktops and laptops.

I'm simply a regular user. I don't have a business relationship with Microsoft.

I would recommend the solution to other users and organizations.

I'd rate the product at an eight out of ten. We've been happy with it so far, however, it's not a perfect product.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

No installation needed
Pros and Cons
  • "There was no installation necessary."
  • "MS Office or Internet Explorer has a big ribbon on top, which occupies needed space."

What is our primary use case?

We use the solution solely on desktops, for running personal applications.

What is most valuable?

I do not use the solution out of any particular preference. It is simply that my company utilizes it and I must follow suit.

What needs improvement?

Certain aspects of the solution are really complicated and should be simplified. I am referring to features we utilize daily, such as those used for finding things and Internet Explorer.

MS Office or Internet Explorer has a big ribbon on top. While it may be useful, it occupies a lot of screen space. My laptop contains a very small screen of just 13 inches, which is full HD, meaning that the forms already appear very small. As the ribbon occupies some of this needed space, reducing it would free up that which is on the screen.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using Windows 10 for the last three years.

How are customer service and technical support?

When it comes to technical support, I generally have to reach out to my local IT guys.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Before using the solution, we made use of Windows 7.

How was the initial setup?

There was no installation necessary.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

We don't spend anything for the license. I prefer the full license, not the one for cloud.

What other advice do I have?

The solution is used on my personal laptop. I use Windows 10. I don't run tests on my own. I do everything on my office infrastructure. For the data and middleware I get support in my office.

The solution is easy to use.

Everyone in my organization uses Windows 10, although I cannot disclose the exact number of users.

I feel compelled to recommend the solution to others, as there are no available alternatives when it comes to desktops.

For desktop usage, I rate Windows 10 as an eight out of ten.

Disclosure: My company does not have a business relationship with this vendor other than being a customer.
