Great wireless access with consistently updating features and great marketing capabilities
Pros and Cons
- "With Mist, every Wednesday they roll out new features."
- "The price could be better."
What is our primary use case?
For the access points, what we're using the product for is location-enabled services. They're making access points wireless.
One use case is in football stadiums that need multiple access points in different locations so that there are no Wi-Fi drop-offs or dead zones within the center. Basically, we're able to set up wireless access points that would mitigate how many actual access points have to be set up.
People can go around and turn on these access points or check for areas within a stadium to make sure the network is available to use. They can lower the number of access points needed for generous coverage across a wide area.
With these access points, you'd be able to get messages and notifications within those connected to the network, such as deals within the stores or stadium and welcome-back messages if you are returning to the network, so there are marketing opportunities as well.
What is most valuable?
Familiarity with the products that are already logged into the Access Point is quite useful. For example, if you go to PetSmart, and you have already logged in before, and if you have an appointment for grooming, the system would basically welcome you to a store, give you the wait time on your grooming appointment, or it might send you a discount for products within the store.
Obviously, being wireless is a huge thing as well.
With Mist, every Wednesday they roll out new features. Being able to be disruptive in the market is definitely something that's useful and keeps them on top.
What needs improvement?
The price could be better. That is relative to the market right now since it is such a valued Access Point and system to have in place. They can label it at that price, however, for smaller companies who want to use their system, it might be a little too much. It is on the more expensive side. Maybe if you already have a Fortinet system in place, that could be a cheaper option and more reliable for you. However, in the case of Juniper, dropping the price for smaller operations would be useful to expand their reach.
For how long have I used the solution?
I've used the solution for just a month or two.
How are customer service and support?
The technical support is fantastic. They are quick to respond and always rolling out new features. We are very happy with their level of service.
How would you rate customer service and support?
Positive
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
I'm familiar with Ruckus as well. It has similar functionality.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
It is a bit expensive. However, it is such a valued system, they can charge whatever they want.
What other advice do I have?
I'd rate the solution ten out of ten. I don't have too much familiarity with how it actually operates. However, it is a great product. The people who use it are very impressed with its capabilities.

For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using Juniper Wireless Access Points (AP Series) for approximately three years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
The stability of Juniper Wireless Access Points (AP Series) is good as long as you have a stable internet connection. The only time you might have an issue is if you need to make a complete change and the client's connection is down. For example, if there is an issue with the ISP and new changes are not pushed to the AP.
I rate the stability of Juniper Wireless Access Points (AP Series) an eight out of ten.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
This solution does not have an on-premise platform and this is one of the advantages of the MIST platform. You are able to go to the cloud to receive resources easily.

I rate the scalability of Juniper Wireless Access Points (AP Series) a nine out of ten.

We are certified to use this solution we have not needed the support. We solve a lot of the issues we have ourselves.

I rate Juniper Wireless Access Points (AP Series) an eight out of ten.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
On-premises

Pros and Cons
- "The solution is very secure."
- "Enrolling into the tool is a tedious process."
What is our primary use case?
I use the solution for wireless access.
What is most valuable?
The solution is very secure. Integrating it with our existing infrastructure was pretty straightforward. We didn't experience any difficulty with the integration with the network. Mist has an AI, Marvis. We can ask Marvis to check for network errors. It is the most beneficial feature, but we need an additional license.
What needs improvement?
Someone enrolled in the tool will deploy it in our organization. Later, I could not enroll in the account until they were unenrolled. Enrolling into the tool is a tedious process.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using the solution for a few months.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
The tool is stable. I rate the stability a nine out of ten.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
The tool is scalable. I rate the scalability a ten out of ten. We have approximately 60 users. We use the product extensively. We also work through our mobile phones.

The technical support team is very responsive. If we open a priority-one ticket, we can expect a call from the team in the next ten minutes. The support is knowledgeable and customer-friendly.
How was the initial setup?
I rate the ease of setup an eight out of ten. Configuring the tool for the first time is not a straightforward process. It is one of the major differences between Juniper and other products like Mellanox and Alcatel-Lucent.
What about the implementation team?
We did the deployment in-house. We needed two engineers to deploy the solution.
What other advice do I have?
I will recommend the tool to others. We need not be experts in Mist to configure the solution. Overall, I rate the product a nine out of ten.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
On-premises
