Daniel Dumitru - PeerSpot reviewer
Inginer de system IT Senior at ENGIE

I am currently working as a system engineer, and I have been using DD Boost for about two years. I use it quite intensively for managing data backups in my organization. My primary role involves configuring and maintaining the system, especially after refreshing our fleet of servers and needing to redeploy and reconfigure DD Boost from scratch.

At our company, we have configured DD Boost on Data Domains and web-based backup appliances. DD Boost is connected to a network solution of our organization.

Using DD Boost, you can deduce a technology that connects the Data Domain with the NetWorker. DD Boost acts as a path to connect the Data Domain and NetWorker simultaneously to take backups.

Dell DD Boost is used together with Dell's appliances for areas like data domain and networking.

DD Boost is a very good functionality if you have machines or servers with a lot of data you don't want to send through a network. With DD Boost, you can use it as an application on the server itself before you send over the data. If you want to improve the speed and reduce the amount of data that is sent over the wires, you use DD Boost.

As a cloud-based solution, customers buy cloud applications like Veeam or Backup X6, and they need storage to put data on the cloud. We recommend Data Domain to them and we implement a solution using Data Domain Boost with their backup solution.

I implement and troubleshoot for the customers.

In the last six months, the deployment model we were using is on-premises. I have only deployed on the cloud once, and it's easy for our customers. It's a pleasure to do.

I am a solution engineer, and I help customers design and implement their solutions and architectures. I propose technologies, such as Dell EMC. I also assist the sales consultants with technical questions from customers.

This solution, Data Domain Boost, works with Data Domain to improve the backup speed. For example, we propose this solution for customers who need to back up their VR LAN quickly.

The best use case for this solution is a client that has a LAN architecture backup with a lot of data. It may include databases like Oracle and MSSQL

Recently, we integrated a Data Domain 9300 for a financial institution in Morocco that can back up both VTL and VMware virtual workloads. There is replication between two sites and it is integrated with NetBackup and TSM. So, in this project we used DD Boost to backup all VMware workload and the resuslt is the client is satisfied.

DD Boost offload processing tasks from the server to the Data Domain products. It enhances the backup process by providing the application's source and automation sites. This means servers' CPU and other resources are not heavily burdened during backups. All workloads are efficiently handled, improving the overall backup performance
