What is our primary use case?

I am a professor of social sciences and I use it to organize the course. In this way, the students can enter the platform and see the content we are going to work with. They can also find their evaluations and classifications. All class dynamics are carried out via CYPHER Learning.

How has it helped my organization?

By using CYPHER Learning, our institute, as a team, is better organized. Supervisors and area advisers can follow up on each of their teachers and we, as teachers, can follow up on the students as well.

During the pandemic, CYPHER Learning was a very important tool. Thanks to the platform we were able to share content with students. In one way we were "forced" to learn a new system, but otherwise, we acquired a very good tool.

It has saved time on intervention strategies for students. Because I do give feedback, sitting down with each one of them is difficult. On the other hand, with CYPHER Learning, I can do it in a more agile way. It has saved me approximately one hour on the entire intervention topic. And when it comes to administrative work, it has saved me time, especially in terms of the use of paper and documents. Now, they are virtual. We upload everything to the platform and the procedures that were done before are not necessary. It hasn't saved that much time regarding administrative work, maybe half an hour.

We have also integrated Zoom with CYPHER Learning and thanks to that we scheduled Zoom sessions through the system. This was exactly what we needed: a single channel of communication with the students.

What is most valuable?

The feature I use the most is the rubrics tool. I have built all my rubrics in the platform and, using them, I can mark the scores that the students have and it provides transparency between the students and the teachers.

Another tool that I use is the ability to load multimedia files within the CYPHER Learning environment. I can send videos and images to students for them to download, if I want.

The solution's automation involving trigger rules that show or hide specific class sections or assignments is also quite agile. It allows me to show students certain sections that I want them to have access to. And there is even the ability to automatically see how long they spent reading a document, the percentage of tasks they have completed, or the sum of their scores they have received, which I can access through the rubrics.

Another feature that helps a lot is the adaptive learning for providing students with personalized content. It allows me to give them each personalized information without being in physical proximity to them. For example, if they want, they can submit their assignments online and I can put details in the comments. This helps their personal development. Everything is arranged chronologically so that they can review the content at home if they miss a class.

It's also very easy for educators to communicate with students. For example, if you send a direct message to them through the platform, or comment on a task they’re doing, when the student answers it often becomes a dialogue and, after that, it practically becomes a forum. Communication is very important and we always try to make clear and transparent communication a priority.

What needs improvement?

We have teachers of all ages and those who are a little older hardly interact with the platform. It needs greater accessibility and more detailed updates and information regarding all its tools.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using CYPHER Learning since 2020.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

There was a network outage but that was in 2020. Since then, the system has not been down. The platform is very stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

CYPHER Learning has high capacity and our school wants to exploit it more. More training has been proposed so that we better understand the platform. The goal is that we continue to increase its use and the variety of strategies that we can use, as teachers, continue to grow.

We have about 500 users who are teachers, system administrators, and the team of supervisors who certify the teachers. In addition, we have about 1,000 students who use it. It is used at all levels, primary and secondary. We have plans for it to be used a lot more in our institution.

How are customer service and support?

I have not had the opportunity to contact their technical support, but I know that when a query has been made they have always responded.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We use SieWeb as well but it is more for communicating with parents and sharing students' scores.

We understood that we needed CYPHER Learning because we needed a place where the entire weekly class content is organized. We wanted students to have a unique place for that information and a single channel of communication with the teacher.

How was the initial setup?

Our initial implementation was a bit slow because there was no training. Our technical systems area was responsible for helping with any problem that arose in general, but we did not receive specific training. It took us about two months to deploy.

There are three people, the general managers, who are in charge of managing the platform, but now each teacher manages their own class. The general managers only contact CYPHER LEARNING if there is an anomaly or systemic problem.

What other advice do I have?

Investigate CYPHER Learning to the maximum to become informed about it before the implementation, and to look into the potential of the platform, because it can be used for many things.

We recently received training on the use of automation in CYPHER Learning and I'm only just starting to understand how it works: How to send automated messages as feedback, how to schedule courses, and how to see students' achievements as they explore a course’s content. I'm discovering more and more features within CYPHER Learning. In the beginning, it was just for uploading material, but with the last training, we received we understood that there are many more possibilities within the system. I did not know that interactive things, videos or 360 views, could be uploaded.

In terms of getting students engaged with the platform, that has happened partially, but there are still many students who are used to face-to-face education, so not all of them make good use of CYPHER Learning. There are many functionalities in the platform that they still do not take advantage of. There are a few students who take the lead on being autonomous and use everything in CYPHER Learning to advance on their own. All these activities are very important for our institute. Because our school opts for a diploma program, it is one of our objectives, and requirements, that students develop autonomy and self-manage their time, as well as search for information and sources. NEO LMS, in part, gives them a route to follow.

CYPHER Learning is not so influential in terms of getting students to the same level or closing the learning gap. That's not necessarily because of the platform but because there are other problems, whether personal or social, that limit students in various ways. The platform helps me understand which students are falling behind, but I wouldn't say that it motivates them in any way.

I believe that CYPHER Learning provides important tools to develop student engagement in class. In physical classes, it is very difficult for everyone to participate, but through this system they have the option of responding in a more personalized way when it comes to their opinions and thoughts. And it has taught me to adapt to change.

Entendimos que necesitábamos CYPHER Learning porque necesitábamos un lugar donde se organizara todo el contenido de la clase semanal. Queríamos que los alumnos tuvieran un lugar único para esa información y un único canal de comunicación con el profesor.

¿Cómo fue la configuración inicial?

Nuestra implementación inicial fue un poco lenta porque no hubo capacitación. Nuestra área técnica de sistemas se encargaba de ayudar con cualquier problema que surgiera en general, pero no recibimos capacitación específica. Nos tomó cerca de dos meses implementarlo.

Hay tres personas, los directores generales, que se encargan de gestionar la plataforma, pero ahora cada profesor gestiona su propia clase. Los gerentes generales solo contactan a CYPHER LEARNING si hay alguna anomalía o problema sistémico.

¿Qué otro consejo tengo?

Investigar al máximo CYPHER Learning para informarse antes de la implementación y ver el potencial de la plataforma, ya que se puede utilizar para muchas cosas.

CYPHER Learning no es tan influyente en términos de llevar a los estudiantes al mismo nivel o cerrar la brecha de aprendizaje. Eso no se debe necesariamente a la plataforma, sino a que existen otros problemas, ya sean personales o sociales, que limitan a los estudiantes de varias maneras. La plataforma me ayuda a entender qué estudiantes se están quedando atrás, pero no diría que los motiva de ninguna manera.

Creo que CYPHER Learning proporciona herramientas importantes para desarrollar la participación de los estudiantes en clase. How has it helped my organization?

Before CYPHER Learning, our school was very traditional and did not use any type of online documentation. The pandemic made us look for new ways of doing things and that's when CYPHER Learning arrived. At first, it seemed very difficult to understand because we were not used to a student being able to archive their work and manage their learning in such an independent way. But this new modality of having the information online and using the CYPHER Learning application on a cell phone to see your work progress is something that has helped our institution.

It seems to me that CYPHER Learning is very didactic. You can count on forums and teamwork. It greatly favors individual work as well as teamwork. It is very important that students know how to write, but also that they know how to communicate. CYPHER Learning also facilitates socializing through the platform.

The solution has also helped save time, about 40 percent, on intervention strategies for students. For example, I have students who may take time to deliver assignments because they find them more complex. CYPHER Learning enables me to ask a student to do everything in a more creative way, such as by uploading a video or a canvas. In that way, life is made easier for them. Progress is faster thanks to NEO. Students can access a folder designed especially for them, according to their specific needs. NEO allows me to focus on exactly what they need and helps me close the learning gap.

And in terms of administrative work, it helps me do everything faster. Before, I had to see the grades separately. Now I can see them through CYPHER Learning and it helps a lot to consolidate the grades faster.

We also save money on modules and books, and students have the information wherever they are.

CYPHER Learning has taught me how to be organized. It used to be complicated for me to review and correct papers, but CYPHER Learning streamlines the process and provides the option of giving quick feedback, from both students and teachers.

In CYPHER Learning, all learning sessions are uploaded so that students can preview them before class, and students can upload their activities in class. We also use the synchronization with Zoom.

I have many students in my charge and thanks to the automation provided by CYPHER Learning, it is possible to apply any class to any classroom and, in that way, replicate the same content for all classrooms.

Each student has different needs. In the comments section, they can express their needs and I, as a teacher, can provide them with some additional detail about what to do in the activity. It is a mini-chat where teachers communicate with students. I can talk privately with the student about those sections of the class where they need reinforcement.

It is very easy for educators to communicate with students using CYPHER Learning. The comments section in the projects makes our lives a lot easier. I can make observations on how to improve their work and if the student has any questions they reply immediately. In this way, there is constant feedback. The student feels fully cared for. Before CYPHER Learning, they had to wait until the next class to see the teacher and communicate with him. It is very important to be able to communicate. That gap that existed before between teachers and students is reduced when the student feels they will get a quick and effective response from the teacher. They feel looked after.

Also, the student has a bar that shows his progress. CYPHER Learning organizes all the evaluations and summarizes things. In addition to that, because we are between virtual and face-to-face classes nowadays, the content uploaded in CYPHER Learning is an advanced type of "information spoiler" about what they are going to do each semester. And the exercises they do give us feedback regarding the level of each student.

I feel that CYPHER Learning has everything I need, in terms of infrastructure and communication with students. CYPHER LEARNING is always innovating. Recently, they showed us new tools. They care about meeting needs as time goes by.

We have about 1,500 users, including students, teachers, and supervisors. We are using it to its maximum, so there is no way to increase our usage of it.

I haven't had any issues so I haven't had any experience with their technical support.

The other solution we have is SieWeb but it is just for uploading notes so it's not comparable to CYPHER Learning.

How was the initial setup?

It was complex at the beginning. It was the first time we interacted with a platform of this type. However, it is intuitive and, by exploring, you understand its functionalities. 

We had three training sessions, each lasting approximately two weeks, and then teachers began to use it independently. But it really depends on how much the teacher tries to manage and experiment with it. Our older teachers had difficulties.

At first, a small number of teachers were trained, and then general training was given. In each area there was an advisor. And one teacher, who predominated in the platform, advised the rest of the team and shared what they knew about it.

What about the implementation team?

In the general training, there was a CYPHER Learning implementer, but we didn't really need a lot of help because we were able to help each other and answer questions. 

My experience with the implementer was quite good. He was very didactic, he tried to answer questions very calmly and make himself understood, and he was very patient.

What was our ROI?

Our ROI is that the students and teachers feel comfortable with the solution. The fact that we are all satisfied with the work means that the investment was worth it.

What other advice do I have?

Look into whether it is useful for your school. CYPHER Learning has fast statistical data and many resources.

The tools for tagging classes and assignments with competencies don't really help me in the subject that I teach. Where it does help is in all the options that the student has to write, such as forums and exercises. Perhaps during the pandemic it was more necessary but now it is used less frequently.

The innovation and deployment of CYPHER Learning was very useful. In our school there are always surveys, and CYPHER Learning is something that everyone sees as necessary.

Es muy importante que los alumnos sepan escribir, pero también que sepan comunicarse. CYPHER Learning también facilita la socialización a través de la plataforma.

What is our primary use case?

We were searching for a learning management system that had unusual features to meet our requirements, including the ability to sell our course.

How has it helped my organization?

A significant improvement is the performance we get. Our other system has performance issues. Sometimes, it takes that system ages to upload the content, to set up users and enroll a course, et cetera. With CYPHER Learning, it's just a matter of clicks and the system reacts immediately. And there is definitely very solid IT performance in the back end. It's a huge time saver. 

The system is also responsive, which is highly appreciated among our clients and customers, as well as our staff, as they can do everything on their mobile devices.

In terms of administrative work and costs, with CYPHER Learning, they are about a quarter of what they were. In the dental business, it's necessary to have hands-on training, but we also have a lot of remote training activities, so we still have a certain collection of tools to provide everything, but we are on our way to integrating everything under one roof with CYPHER Learning.

What is most valuable?

When looking for a solution, we defined a certain set of must-have features as well as some advanced features that would be good to have. And CYPHER Learning has both. 

The core functionality includes

  • an intuitive, multilingual user interface
  • responsive design
  • proper content and user management
  • support for blended learning
  • flexible testing and assessment options
  • integration with customer-relations management
  • payment gateways
  • reporting and e-commerce functionality

E-commerce is still one of the exotic features, meaning that not all LMS providers offer it. It is critical for us. We have had no trouble implementing payment gateways with this system and it works out-of-the-box without any special tricks. This is probably the most critical feature for us.

It also was important that we have a multi-portal architecture so that we could run several systems under one roof. And stability and performance were important to us. We have another solution to compare it with and we were searching for improvements over that solution's performance.

The system offers a lot of features and they are very well structured. I have been involved in software development for over 30 years and, from that perspective, it's a great system. It would be really challenging to make it simpler. I get along with the system very well, and colleagues of mine, without any IT or software development background, also get along quite well with it. It's very user-friendly.

The advanced features include

What needs improvement?

So far we have only made one suggestion. There is a great feature that enables self-registration for a user and it comes with an access code. Unfortunately, there is only one access code and it works for all portals. We would appreciate a dedicated access code for different portals. So far, this is the only feature we would appreciate having, but we can live without it.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using CYPHER Learning for over 15 months.

We are still in the setup phase, not full deployment. The system is in place and we already have some portals, but we are still not completely alive.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It has the highest possible stability. We have had no downtime, connections lost, or any data loss. The system is absolutely stable and reliable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It's probably the most scalable LMS I have ever seen.

We already have a number of small, dedicated portals for our subsidiary. We also set up a dummy LMS portal for our top customers, to show them how it can work. And we have a little pilot group of 25 people who are testing what we are uploading.

How are customer service and support?

We get great support. We have one person from the sales team who is extremely skilled, and we also have a dedicated technical assistant. He is extremely skilled in all technical questions, but he also provides us with great best practices. We can also get questions answered from the community, which is quite huge, and from help material.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We had several systems in the house because some providers bound the sharing of content with their own LMSs, so we could only get the content if we took their systems. We still have some old LMSs from a "previous life", so to speak. And we have a learning management system as part of a document management system. But the key needs haven't been covered by these systems and that is why we picked up another one, and we are working on content migration to shut down one of our learning management systems.

How was the initial setup?

One of the reasons we bought this solution was because the system is in place as soon as you enter the credit card number. It's a SaaS and, compared to other systems that are deployed over a certain period of time, we received everything out of the box from the very beginning. It was absolutely straightforward. 

The only part that was challenging was a lack of knowledge of best practices, given that there are so many ways to set it up. But from a technical perspective, there were absolutely no issues. We messed up a couple of things, but those were our fault. The system provides extremely good information videos as well as some printed material and documentation. That was more than enough for us.

The deployment itself took about two days. The only thing we had to do was customize the colors and put up some images and that was it.

As I already had some experience with learning management systems, and we have four systems in-house, based on this experience, we knew what to do fairly well. It was a real pleasure to realize that the system provides a better solution, compared to others. We didn't need to cap existing workflows.

For the deployment and maintenance, one person is needed. I was responsible for the overall process: evaluation, negotiation, deployment, and completion.

What was our ROI?

We have already generated so many savings with this platform that it's paid out, and it's not a huge investment. I hardly believe it could be less expensive. The value for money is unbeatable.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

For us, it's great savings in terms of money. The system is not cheap but it's affordable. The pricing is fair. And CYPHER LEARNING has flexible plans, depending on the number of active users there are, and not on the number of licenses. This allows us to cover all our needs with a lower number of users. If we don't have a lot of active users we pay less, and if we have a lot of action in the system, we pay more, which is absolutely fine.

There are no costs in addition to the standard licensing fee. The cherry on top was that we received all the functionality with the simplest plan, the one with the minimal number of users. It couldn't be any better.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I evaluated 52 systems. After the first round, I selected 16, and in the last round, there were seven. I had extensive hands-on experience with all seven and CYPHER Learning beat them all.

What other advice do I have?

My advice is that you should definitely know what you're searching for because there are so many learning management systems. A good source to start with is first-hand reports. It's also a question of experience. Some people know some learning management systems from previous lives or previous jobs.

The solution enables us to see who has not accessed the portal but that feature is less important for us because the information we provide is for people who are searching for it, so there is no pressure from our side. There is a need on the user's side to access it. 

Also, its competency-based learning feature is far beyond our needs. We would like to implement this in the near future because the feature itself is awesome, and the way it's implemented is great, but our needs are more simple at the moment.

I have already had several calls from potential CYPHER Learning customers. it's such a great product and they have such lovely people, so it's a pleasure to help them acquire more customers.

What is our primary use case?

We use it for internal staff training. We're a large retail hospitality company. We have over 1,000 locations in Australia and we are also a Registered Training Organisation (RTO). That means we deliver nationally recognized qualifications. We use CYPHER Learning to deliver our qualifications to employees who sign up to complete one of those qualifications. 

We also use it for our management training. Anyone who becomes a manager within our system goes through a training program that is administered through CYPHER Learning.

How has it helped my organization?

We have locations across Australia, with offices in every major city where our trainers are based. One of the best benefits we've seen with CYPHER Learning is that it has allowed us to act more consistently on a national basis in how we approach the delivery of our training. Our trainers and assessors can now train and assess anyone in the country, as opposed to just where they're physically located.

When we were paper-based, the trainees would send in their coursework to their local training facility. Having a cloud-based solution has allowed us to better use our trainer resources across the country.

The transition from paper to digital has also been beneficial. As an organization, we were spending over significant money each year on printing and positing our training materials. We've seen huge cost savings in completely converting to an online digital learning system. 

And when it comes to administration, another really great feature in CYPHER Learning is the flexibility in marking. We can choose which activities are auto marked and which have to be marked by a trainer, and that really allows us to save a lot of time. We know when something is a very simple yes/no answer, we can set that to be auto-marked. That way we can spend our trainer resources on marking the more complex responses, such as those that are essay-based.

What is most valuable?

The ability to build and customize our own courses is one of the most valuable features. When we launched with CYPHER LEARNING, their team helped us build our courses. They took our paper-based coursework and developed a really engaging digital solution on the platform. The best part, for us, is being able to continue to customize and edit it. We have been able to add and explore new features as we've grown with it.

We use the system's rules engine to help automate our training. For example, as a student completes one piece of training, the rules engine unlocks the next part automatically. We also send pre-written notifications at the end of courses or at certain touch points within courses. All of that is really useful as well.

Another good functionality is that we have full visibility into when students last accessed courses, because CYPHER Learning shows us when they last accessed the portal. That helps our trainers to follow up with people who might be falling behind or who need help. And another great, related feature is that we can see how long trainees have spent on certain activities. With digital learning, it can be easy to just click-click-click and skip through things. Seeing how long students have spent on the material helps trainers have good conversations with their trainees and test their knowledge, just to make sure that they really are grasping the concepts.

There is good reporting functionality and there are good insights into trainee progress. That certainly helps our trainers to know where to target their efforts and who to follow up on. If we are looking at individual trainees, we get very good insights as to how they're tracking, what section they're up to, and how long they're taking on particular activities.

What needs improvement?

If there is one area that I would like to see more improvement in, it would be around detailed reporting. There are some little things that they could add that would give us more insights and we'd like to access those things through the reporting.

There's a lot of reporting functionality, but we've found it a bit challenging integrating it with our different organizations and getting some of the information that we need out of it. We'd like to see the kind of information that we get about individual trainees, but as a whole, across the organization. That's where we'd like to see improvement.

For how long have I used the solution?

We've been using the solution as an organization for almost three years. I've been using it for about 12 months.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

We have had no issues whatsoever. It seems to be very stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

With CYPHER Learning, there is a lot of untapped potential for us as an organization. I look at all the available features and the add-ons and the apps that are available, and I've got lots of different ideas about how we could start to incorporate different ways of delivering our learning. I am also thinking about other learning that we're not currently doing in CYPHER Learning, and moving it to this platform. There certainly is scalability there.

We definitely have plans to increase our usage by migrating other learning courses to CYPHER Learning and that will increase our active users quite significantly. We're three years in and, now that we're comfortable and happy with the platform, we've got plans to put more courses on it.

And from a coursework perspective, there's definitely scalability. We feel comfortable that, as we start to put more learners in the system, it will scale.

We already have a large cohort of learners in the system. We have over 100,000 employees with access to the platform and there are about 10,000 people actively learning each month, but we have no concerns about scaling it. We've been in discussion with CYPHER LEARNING and we have plans that we can put in place to get more people onto CYPHER Learning.

The users are predominantly restaurant crew and managers. There are also restaurant supervisors who are responsible for coaching people through the platform, and there are the trainers and assessors within our corporate office who administer the learning.

How are customer service and support?

The technical support is very good. There's a support forum, which we utilize quite regularly and the responses come in quite fast. We usually get a same-day response or even within a couple of hours to any support tickets, which is quite good. You can choose whether your query is public or private. Unless it's company-specific, you can mark it as a public ticket and then other users of the platform get to learn from the answers as well.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I've used other learning management systems before, and in my current company our previous system was a proprietary, home-grown solution. The benefit of going with CYPHER Learning was that we got their expertise in digital learning, which is probably something that we were lacking. Our platform did its job for a period of time, but as technology advanced, and the ways trainees can learn online advanced, we needed to keep up with our competitors, and CYPHER Learning has really helped us to do that.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was complex because it was quite a complex integration. We have 100,000 employees, so setting up data feeds to give users access, and revoking access when people are terminated, and those kinds of administrative tasks, can't be done manually. Setting up the API requests to handle those things took a little bit of time, until we got things right. 

CYPHER LEARNING were very good to deal with and they assigned people to us. I wasn't part of the initial setup, but from what I understand they worked very well with our organization.

From my perspective, having come in and managed the platform for the last 12 months, with CYPHER Learning we get notably less contact through our support desk around the system, compared to our other digital platforms. That's a really good thing; people aren't complaining about it. That's obviously a good sign that it's working as intended.

As for our implementation strategy, we did a pilot group first. We picked one region of learners and one particular course and that allowed us to make sure that we were capturing feedback, customizing the platform to our needs, and ironing out any problems before we launched it on a larger scale. 

Once we were happy with that particular region and that particular course, we rolled it out for all courses in that state. We continued to capture more feedback and worked with CYPHER Learning to make any adjustments. We then rolled it out state by state.

What was our ROI?

There has been a clear return on investment for us. Even taking into consideration the additional implementation costs and the costs for building custom courses, we're still seeing that it's cheaper to run CYPHER Learning compared to the paper-based learning that we used to do.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Our pricing is based on active participants. We have a large employee base, but we made sure that we went with a pricing model that only charged us for active users, as opposed to all employees. We only enroll an employee into a course if they need to complete that course. That just helps us keep our costs down. While we have over 100,000 employees, because we have fewer than 10,000 people actively participating in a course per month, we have a plan where we pay for 10,000 users per month.

Understanding how many active users you will have, compared to total users who may access the platform, is something to consider.

In addition to the standard licensing fees, we had some setup costs to build our custom courses. With CYPHER Learning you can either build your courses from scratch yourself or you can utilize their team to assist you in doing that. We've done half and half. We paid for CYPHER LEARNING to build some initial courses and, since then, we've actually built some of our own as well.

What other advice do I have?

The biggest lesson we've learned from using CYPHER Learning has been to be open to new ideas. The CYPHER LEARNING team has experts in marketing and the creation of digital learning. We had courses that worked for us and that we wanted to do in a certain way, but they suggested new ideas and different ways of approaching them. Being open to those has allowed us to innovate the way that we deliver our training, which has been good for us. Being open to innovation and new ways of delivering our training has been a worthwhile lesson for us.

I use the platform to upload classes, provide a space for students so that they can also upload their projects, to comment on the work they deliver, and to give feedback while they progress in their assignments.

I am a first-grade teacher and there are certain parts of the solution that I still cannot use because of the young age of the students. My use is more basic.

How has it helped my organization?

Thanks to the folders that we upload to CYPHER Learning, the children can review the classes before coming to them and parents have the opportunity to access the resources being provided. 

With tools for students to upload their work, and for teachers to calculate their achievement of skills, teachers can provide feedback to the parents so that they understand in which subjects their children need reinforcement. The platform also enables parents to witness their child's development in class. It gives us better communication with parents. More than anything, it has helped me save on communication.

The system also helps save administrative time because I can provide information directly to the parents, getting them more involved in the content that's being sent to students. Before CYPHER Learning, I had to explain things to each parent who had any questions. Now I can upload the data to the platform and it reaches all the parents in an equivalent way. That has helped reduce administrative work by 25 percent.

What is most valuable?

My favorite tools include

  • those that enable students to send in files or assignments
  • the comments section
  • the organization of folders for uploading classes
  • the option of attaching files and links, especially when uploading a lot of content information. CYPHER Learning allows you to upload heavy documents.

We are working on establishing an order of topics on the platform to help us manage an adequate path for students to achieve skills. With class folders in place, it is possible to follow up on the children. I know when students have seen the material that has been uploaded to the platform and, thus, understand if they are following the classes. It is important that students have an order to follow and something that creates a habit of reviewing the material that they receive through the platform.

More than anything, it has helped students with the organization part. The folders have links, activities, or videos that help the learning process. That's the way we can reinforce first graders through CYPHER Learning, by linking to outside resources or features.

Tracking student progress on a competency basis is very important as it helps us to do reinforcement and follow-up. It helps us know that the children are progressing according to our objectives, and we can follow up, with the help of the parents, and provide feedback.

What needs improvement?

There could be improvements in the dynamic and accessibility tools for the youngest students. For example, I create or attach links from other pages, and I use activities and games, such as roulettes, that encourage student participation.

When the classes were only virtual, there were network drops. This year we have seen fewer issues as we returned to face-to-face classes. These were not continuous problems but, if they happened, we had to inform the parents that the platform was not working.

There were also bugs. For example, when we attached links, for some reason it was not possible to access them.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We have three levels: initial, primary, and secondary and among them, we have 100 users. It is used by teachers, students, advisors, and system administrators.

The technical support is okay. When the network has gone down, it has been possible to resolve things without much inconvenience.

Our three system administrators did all the implementation work. They simply installed CYPHER Learning for us, uploaded all the necessary data, and gave us training.

I believe the return on investment is imminent. It has helped teachers, students, and parents with better organization to follow the progress of the children and their achievement of skills.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Perhaps there was an evaluation, but it was not up to us teachers. But by choosing CYPHER Learning, they understood that it was perfect for what we needed.

What other advice do I have?

In first grade, we do work according to competencies, but we do not use CYPHER Learning as a means of tracking achievement of those standards. Still, in general, it is a tool that helps students a lot in demonstrating the skills they have and helps educators understand a student's level of understanding.

There is no gamification because we are talking about first graders. There isn't any functionality that helps in the dynamic or playful sense. Any additional material I include comes from other pages. Being able to attach content saves time, but that content itself is not from the platform.

Although the system has communication tools, in the case of my first-grade students, it is not easy to communicate using them because they are still learning to write. As a means of communication, it is more to send the work to parents. The parents then download the content and hand it to the students. Slowly, the students are also learning to use the platform more independently.

The biggest lesson I have learned from using the solution is that there is a better way to give feedback to students. Also, even first-grade students can become independent within a totally new platform for everyone. I now understand that younger students can undertake an unknown platform in an optimal way.

What is our primary use case?

I use it to organize the work that the students send in and I also upload all the class materials to it so that the students can see them at any time. In addition, I use CYPHER Learning to create activities.

How has it helped my organization?

Where CYPHER Learning has helped especially is in the organization of content. The students bring materials such as notebooks and books, but they are already aware that they must also have everything on their laptops or their mobiles. This helps them to be more responsible. The platform enables us to keep all the content of every class available and allows students to upload tasks or activities so that work can be accepted within a limited time.

During the pandemic, everything became virtual and CYPHER Learning helped us through the ability to upload any file to any section. Students could go in and download the files. Today, we still use the system for all the material it contains. That is the main benefit that it offers, the ability able to register everything within the platform.

We upload content according to the progress of the class. The most personalized aspect is the feedback. It gives a more personalized feeling in providing resources to the student.

The fact that communication is fluid is very important for our school. That communication is not only between teachers and students but also with parents. And with CYPHER Learning, we can help any student who cannot get to class. It helps us manage the virtual class schedule on the calendar so that students can track the entire class through the platform.

We generally use videos and create activities to do at home, according to the data that the system presents us with. Each activity that is uploaded gives the student an average or grade and, in this way, we know what recommendations to give in class, based on that data.

It is also important because, in a certain way, it also develops students' autonomy. For example, during the pandemic, each student was responsible for their work on each activity that was uploaded to the platform. They might be essays, interaction with the teacher, or commenting in the forum. It contributes a lot to the student's academic training.

Because I can upload classes, it has saved me time on administrative work. It gives you the option of duplicating classes for all the sections. I can access the classes through a link and create the content to teach different classes. It helps reduce management work but not the number of staff.

And more than anything, CYPHER Learning has helped a lot by saving costs on printed materials. There are web pages, videos, and other types of documents that replace books and notebooks. The evaluation tool, and being able to get the marks through the rubrics and observe the work in the preview are valuable aspects of CYPHER Learning.

It is personalized and I can specifically evaluate any student. I also like the ability to comment on assignments. And it includes audio, which means I can communicate with the students in various ways. And students can submit videos, oral reflections, etc.

The platform also has an option for triggering sections of work. That is feasible because we upload complete classes.

When you upload a rubric to the CYPHER Learning library, you also indicate the competencies that you want students to acquire. In my case, as a communications teacher, there are three competencies, so the rubrics are in accordance with them. The system gives you a report to enable you to evaluate the competence or the results a student has achieved. You can adapt and edit according to what a student answers and a result is accumulated. The way that CYPHER Learning tags classes and assignments with competencies helps me see what a student has done.

There are several activities that can be used thanks to the platform. For example, there is dialogue between the students. It helps a lot in facilitating a student's learning process, but the didactic tools are a bit limited. When I use CYPHER Learning it is mostly for individual teaching purposes. There are some tools that facilitate dialogue but not many that help produce continuous interaction. There is room for improvement in the area of interaction. I'd like to see more ways for the student to communicate with their classmates.

In addition, I don't know if I still need to discover this, but I still haven't understood how to synchronize classes. I have to copy and duplicate them in other sessions.

We have approximately 1,500 people using it, including teachers, students, systems managers, and administrators.

Our use of the system increased due to the pandemic. It became our means of communication, both to start classes and to qualify and evaluate. And we have not decreased usage ever since. Although we are in face-to-face classes again, we continue to use CYPHER Learning in the same way.

The intermediary between our school and CYPHER LEARNING has always been our system admin area. Our deployment took four months. The systems management team was in charge of dealing with any errors that occurred and answering any questions we had at the beginning of the implementation. During those four months they were adjusting everything. The systems team was in continuous communication with CYPHER LEARNING, and through this process we were adapting to the platform.

What is our primary use case?

Our company is a training boutique dedicated to courses for adults. We are a team that varies between two to ten trainers and offers courses for 15 to 80 participants.

We use CYPHER Learning to deliver asynchronous remote online courses. The courses we offer are for adult training in the professional field or personal development.

The courses offered are based on a specific calendar or are courses that can be taken at your own pace.

We also use CYPHER Learning to generate the web page (portal) where we have the product catalog and through which we sell our online courses.

How has it helped my organization?

We were able to build a whole learning ecosystem. 

The lessons we offer in each course can be both in written format and in audio or video format. This dramatically helps participants to choose their best way of learning.

In addition to the lessons provided, I developed various assignments. We also built a valuable relationship between trainers and participants through various features of the platform: rubrics, feedback, notes, mastery, and skills.

The platform allowed us several integrations with other systems. Also, translating menus into different languages helps our participants a lot.

What is most valuable?

There are many facilities offered by CYPHER Learning. 

For us, the biggest feature of the platform is that we can build competency systems. Thus, through the courses, we can certify the different skills of our participants. Within the platform, these competencies are linked to each learning module and each assurance. This allows us very good control over the competencies demonstrated by the participants.

We use the grading system a lot, and that's why the platform's rubrics and automatic scoring systems are very useful. Together with the ability to customize each notification and set rules applicable to each assignment, we can provide immediate and consistent feedback to participants.

We also use gamification to generate motivation for learning through play.

What needs improvement?

There needs to be greater granularity of user packages. We don't always have 100 users per month. However, we pay for 100.

We need a better solution for controlling inactive users. For example, any active user who connects to the platform generates costs for us, even if he is no longer an active participant. This means that we cannot be in control of the monthly costs unless we deactivate the user. Except if we do it this way, he loses contact with us.

The platform proposes a report-building system; however, this system is cumbersome and not intuitive.

I used an alternative solution previously. I abandoned that solution since the platform had become a closed one that can no longer be used publicly.

I recommend a good calculation of costs per user. They will need a different solution (CRM type) to maintain the relationship with the old users, otherwise, they will be charged every time the old users connect to the platform again.

CYPHER Learning is a solution that understands the needs of a trainer and those of a participant in different courses. These needs are covered by a wide and almost complete range of facilities and solutions.

Therefore, it is important to expect constant changes in features and interface. CYPHER Learning is constantly working on updates, and the change is done automatically, suddenly, and without much notice.

Customer service (if you don't have a dedicated one) is forum-based only, and responses can take anywhere from one hour to two days, depending on the time zone.

What is our primary use case?

Our company provides aligners to align your teeth, instead of braces. We have a network of doctors and we use CYPHER Learning for our academy where we have courses on how to do specific things with aligners and to explain the treatment. We use it to explain orthodontic procedures and we have a list of courses that we share with our doctors.

How has it helped my organization?

There are a few benefits we have seen. First, it helps us create a more seamless onboarding journey for any doctor. We've integrated the LMS with our CRM system and whenever we have a new doctor in the CRM system, they automatically get login instructions for our academy. They then have to go through certification for our treatment. After that, they can move on to the other courses and start submitting their aligner cases for their patients. CYPHER Learning enables this cycle and it has made the journey more seamless for new doctors. 

And for doctors who are already in our CRM, of course, it helps us in giving them the knowledge they need, because some of them lack some skills. Instead of doing one-to-one calls and support with our clinical team, now they can watch specific courses and get the knowledge they need.

The solution has saved us costs because we used to have many one-to-one calls with the clinical team and commercial teams. Some of the courses now substitute for that. They can go ahead and watch them instead of speaking to one of our team members.

And there are some new features that are important for us. The branded mobile app is one because, now, everyone is surfing on their mobiles instead of their computers. That's going to be a value-add. And while we haven't utilized the point system a lot yet, when we give specific points to specific courses and then link that to our loyalty program, it's going to make a difference.

What is most valuable?

Some of the features we like are the 

  • usability of the interface
  • group feature 
  • points system.

The usability makes it easy for our doctors to find whatever they're looking for. The groups help them interact with each other, creating a kind of network and a place of engagement. It's not just a platform to go and learn and get out. It's a place where they can actually interact with other doctors and share experiences.

It also enables us to see who has not accessed the portal and we send them reminders to log in. And for those who, for example, have already enrolled in one course, we try to upsell them to enroll in more courses and complete them.

That follow-up ability is very important internally because we need to see more interaction with the academy. We want our doctors to have the knowledge they need to use the treatment. We believe that the academy has the right skills and knowledge that they need, so we try to push as much as we can for them to go into the academy and learn as much as they can from the courses we offer.

What needs improvement?

Improvement is needed to the reporting options and system because sometimes it's not very accurate. We feel that there are not enough aspects to report on. We need some more advanced reporting.

There should also be some more customization for admin roles and what specific things an admin should have permissions on, instead of having just one kind of admin role.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using CYPHER Learning for six months.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It's pretty stable. In the six months there has not been any downtime for the platform.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I think it's pretty scalable, even if you have different organizations or if you want to white label it.

We have 350 active doctors in our academy. We have done some interviews and surveys and their feedback about it is pretty good.

We onboard new doctors every month and we're trying to increase utilization from our current doctors. We've invited around 1,000 doctors. We're putting together plans on how to increase usage from the doctors who haven't logged in, and from those who have logged in to enroll in more courses.

How are customer service and support?

CYPHER LEARNING's support replies very fast. Most of them are very knowledgeable and get back to you on-point. It's excellent.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We used to work with Mindflash LMS. We switched because we were not fully utilizing their features and we wanted to find a platform that suits our new requirements. CYPHER Learning fit those better and at a really convenient price.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup of CYPHER Learning was very straightforward. The process of onboarding it was very easy. Whenever I had a question, I posted it on the support forum and they were very responsive and fast in replying to what I needed. They always solved whatever problem I had. And generally, the platform itself is very intuitive. You don't need major IT skills or other skills to upload your content to it. It was very simple.

It took about a week to deploy it.

We had all our content ready, so we just created the branding for the platform. We uploaded that and our content and we built the logic behind the courses. For example, some courses should be completed before others. And then we imported the contacts from our CRM to the academy, which automatically sent them their login instructions.

What was our ROI?

For now, we're offering our courses for free, so we're not monetizing them. But if we look into the return from a different aspect, we're arming our doctors with the knowledge they need to increase their patient case submissions to us. They're going to be feeling more confident to submit cases and start treating them with aligners, which is going to be beneficial for us.
