Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The solution is easily scalable.""The most valuable feature of Monday.com is the ability we have to customize it to suit all of our needs.""The appearance of Monday.com makes it easier to consume and digest.""Being able to duplicate boards from sitting to sitting and also being able to upload .csv files for tasks is great.""Monday is the perfect time management tool.""I like the update feature. It's almost like you can replace email with it. You can communicate on a particular item within monday.com, and then you can see the history of who commented, when they commented, what they said, and the reply to what they said. It's much easier to follow up on a particular item than have a thousand emails going back and forth. In a big project, you can usually have a ton of emails. If you use monday.com as a communication tool, you can almost eliminate email and have better tracking on what was done, when it was done, and what was said about the items. That's probably my favorite feature.""It is also easy for us to share a viewer account with our exco and they can see where we are with our work.""It saves me from having to interrupt my team to get simple answers I can look for myself."

"Planview Management integrates seamlessly with other tools and systems used within the organization, such as enterprise resource planning (ERP) software, customer relationship management (CRM) systems, and collaboration platforms.""I like that the data that we store is available for everybody. We're not trying to hide anything. Being an administrator, I know a lot about the tool. It is very easy to show somebody how to use the tool and get used to it. Hopefully that user doesn't come back and ask the same question twice is really what it is about. It's a very intuitive product as well. For what we use the tool for today, it's easy to learn and pick up.""Its view into resource capacity and availability absolutely help us manage work. We can't plan out projects for delivery until we know if we have resources available to deliver them. That's been really critical. We look at our projects and see what availability of resources we have. That helps us to determine when we can start new work.""We've brought our portfolio altogether. We have had multiple ways of reporting out what our portfolio is, whether it's in Excel, Word, or in different places. We brought all of our projects together in one place. That has worked out well for us. We've been able to manage the work on Gantt charts and our resources better. The big thing for us on research and development is around managing people's time, on which projects they are working on, and how much effort does it take to launch our projects.""A lot of of the value is around the project metrics so far but as I get more plugged into the strategic management, it's strategic planning and programs and then tying that into outcomes. I work with executive leadership and that's really what they're looking for, to say, "Okay, what outcomes do we want to achieve and how are we going to get there, plan that out, sequence that out, and then get the work to do that? And then track the work back to where we're headed with our outcomes."""The most valuable feature of this solution is the completeness of the standard, underlying metamodel.""We use time reporting. We convert time reporting into financial costs and do contractor and capacity planning for our resources. We track our work. So, that's the module we use extensively. As a matter of fact, we have upwards of 300 open projects at this given moment. It is pretty close to 300 open activities that are working.""The solution’s integrated product portfolio has transformed our organization’s delivery because people are a lot more accountable. When you have no accountability, then people don't always deliver the way that you want them to. Once you get accountability, they know that somebody is watching and the way that they manage their work changes quite a bit."

Cons
"The permission settings require workarounds for some use cases.""The workload widget should work with the time-tracking column for more accuracy in managing team resources.""The export options are also not yet flexible and comprehensive enough.""The stability could be improved.""It could have a few more features when it comes to managing projects.""We'd like more automation.""monday.com is missing a few features but not many. For example, let's say you're working on a global project for a marketing campaign, and you have the video team working on it. Maybe the video team only wants a board that shows the packages that are related to them, but you cannot do that on monday.com. You can't have the same task in multiple projects.""It would be ideal if Monday.com had this feature within itself, for example, if an input PDF or image was within it, then with one click the person can review it within Monday.com without going to different software."

More monday.com Cons →

"Our challenge will be this tool is complex. It is not necessarily easy to start and learn from the beginning. How do you get people who are not professionals to adopt it, use it, and not be mean about it?""The scheduling's kind of clunky in terms of its ability for us to see what stage work is at. They could have done better with that. It can be difficult to use.""Some of the out-of-the-box reporting is not immediately useful and although it can be configured or customized, there are still improvements that can be made.""The content management definitely needs to improve. We don't really use content management for projects inside Enterprise One. We have actually switched to a SharePoint site. We have a feed from Enterprise One every night of all the projects that are created.""The technical people are very competent, but there is so much turnover in the people that we talk to, and that's frustrating. They will say, "We can make this work." Suddenly, that guy has left, and we have no one. Then, we have to start all over.""There can be improvement on the sense of urgency because a lot of times we've exhausted everything that we can, and now, we're reaching out. So, it isn't a, "Well, have you tried to reboot this?" We've already done everything. Once we put in a ticket, there should be more of a sense of urgency on it.""The lack of templates harden the initial learning curve.""The out-of-the-box reports, as far as I can tell, are weak. We've had to build a lot of reports using Power BI, which we connected to it."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "I wasn't involved with the licensing, but I believe it's negotiable."
  • "The solution is quite inexpensive. For example, we pay $8,500 for 75 users. It's somewhere around $100 a user, approximately."
  • "The project manager would be responsible for any licensing fees. As an end-user, we just follow suit."
  • "Fees are paid monthly per user."
  • "The price is reasonable for the number of users we have."
  • "I am using its free version."
  • "We tell others it's about $2200 for a ten-person plan and it can be adjusted; it's easy to scale."
  • "monday.com's pricing is fair compared to its competitors, although it is a bit more expensive than most of them. It's more expensive than Jira, Zoho, ClickUp, and Trello. But it is fairly priced when you compare the kinds of features and the capabilities that you get and the ROI."
  • More monday.com Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "The licensing part is a bit costly in comparison with the other available PPM tools."
  • "We are on the Flex licenses."
  • "We have unlimited licenses for all of our functionalities. Since we went global, we went with that model."
  • "The cost of other pieces and integrating them in needs improvement."
  • "We have portfolio managers, resource managers, project managers, and time reporting licenses. These are the licenses that we have."
  • "I don't think we have necessarily purchased everything that I would have liked to have seen."
  • "We have several hundred licenses. It costs us several hundred thousand dollars a year."
  • "We overbought our licenses. We looked at our needs three to four years down the road and tried based our contract on that. However, we were over aggressive. We use about a third of the licenses that we have. We're looking to adjust the makeup so we can start utilizing the amount of money that we are spending. Right now, we're overspending, and my organization is not seeing the value in Planview because we are paying so much for licenses that we're not using."

    Reviews from Real Users

monday.com stands out among its competitors for a number of reasons. Two major ones are its task status feature and its ability to integrate with external apps. PeerSpot users take note of the advantages of these features in their reviews:

Ben D., Front End Developer at a marketing services firm, writes of the product, “Their flagship feature, what used to be called the pulse, is great. Pulse offers great management. Being able to see everything at a glance and check task status, is wonderful. They use subtasks and the simple aspects of task management have been really helpful.”

Another PeerSpot reviewer, the Head of Projects at Smart Media SA, notes, “The boards offer an amazing and clear view of my tasks, campaigns, and progress. Automations especially with Slack and Outlook help with keeping my team up-to-date always. Graphs and charts are valuable for reporting purposes and to track progress made. Workforms/surveys are valuable and a very cool added feature.”
