Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"It is the foundation for our monitoring solution.""It is very scalable.""Latest version of tool comes integrated with Jaspersoft reporting solution, giving excellent reports.""The benefit is easy installation. Thus, the model approach of the product and out-of-the-box probes, which deliver direct value.""The number of probes available. Out of the box, I believe about 200 probes are available. And, if there's a probe that is not available, you can write one. You can also go to the communities and suggest, and based on demand, CA will write one for you.""You can integrate clouds, hybrid infrastructure, and on-premise infrastructure into one product.""Great customized dashboards and drill down reports with auto serve analytics.""Great out-of-the-box capability."

"Once you set the threshold on your environment, it feels very real-time""The most valuable features are monitoring and reporting.""There are alerting mechanisms in place to let us know, for example, if a device is not responding to a ping test and is probably not going to work.""One notable feature of this software is its page speed setup, which is highly commendable. Additionally, the metrics it provides are also impressive."

Cons
"The other element is that there are no real templates, out of the box. Let's go with an example where we do have the probe, which is great, and we do have a really nuanced customer with a small set of devices that maybe not a lot of other customers use. There might not be a template in place, so effectively we have the tool in front of us but we still need to develop a solution. So it would be really nice to see a little bit more of something like a central repository of templates that we could use. That would help us expedite our onboarding process.""I would like to see auditability. We've built our own audit functionality to ensure that every CI has the desired model configuration applied to it. And we run that on a daily basis. If that became part of the product, I think it might be a little bit less intensive in terms of resource, because we're doing it with scripts.""The dashboards need to be improved.""It is a little complex to use versus other softwares.""Stability.""We've had issues with pulling reports.""The UIM has no features through goods and services yet. ""The biggest feature that I've been hoping they would enhance on is inventory management: things like adding/removing nodes."

"Some of the functions could improve by making them easier.""Technical support could use some improvement.""Pingdom is always improving everything in its product. So, they should work on the GUI.""I would like to see better integration with other products."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "This product is expensive compared to other vendors (SolarWinds, ManageEngine)."
  • "The product-price ratio is better than other brands such as Fortinet or SonicWall."
  • "The license cost depends on the number of probes and robots."
  • "Reasonable setup cost and licensing prices."
  • "CAD $400,000 annually."
  • "Customers pay for the license and the support."
  • "Pricing for DX Unified Infrastructure Management isn't cheap at all. It's a complex tool, so you have to pay more. No one is happy with a large bill to pay, but if it's a complex product and you designed a complex solution to be monitored, it'll be your fault that you need to buy an expensive product, and that would be implicit in the design of DX Unified Infrastructure Management. Monitoring is just a small part of it. Sometimes you have to pay a significant amount of money for a complex yet very good solution."

  • "This price of this solution is reasonable."
  • "The license was paid yearly and included technical support."
  • "While I wouldn't describe it as excessively expensive, if you require specific and reliable monitoring, SolarWinds can be a suitable option. The advantage is that SolarWinds offers a free version as well. If you don't heavily rely on its monitoring capabilities and are content with its basic features, the free version could suffice for your needs."
