Several years of improvements have been made to the software itself. In the '90s, it was poorly reliable. Now it's very reliable; you can spin up a Windows Server box, and it will run without needing to reboot unless updating. It's quite secure, which wasn't the case previously. They improved security over the years. It's a standard, compatible and backwards compatible with several pieces of software, and it's a standard platform where you can find practically any server software that you need. For me, it's a standard platform right now. They gained the market over the years.
View full review »From my personal perspective, the most beneficial functions and features of Windows Server are predominantly its services for Active Directory, as well as its support for SQL Server and any .NET or ASP.NET applications that we have hosted using the IIS server.
Windows Server helps with our data protection strategies through Microsoft security services. On top of Microsoft Server, we have to use certain third-party applications; while Microsoft server services provide good host-level security, external application level security often requires additional third-party solutions.

The best features of Windows Server are that it works and gives us everything we need to share files and set security permissions. It is done effectively in terms of the NTFS permissions. I can base them on AD security groups.
I have utilized the Active Directory integration in Windows Server for identity management, and they are on a domain.

This ease is crucial for us as we operate in analytical sciences with multiple laboratories. Additionally, backup work is facilitated by our own backup deployment managers, enhancing our management capabilities.

Also, it has a user-friendly interface. Rather than purchasing and setting up infrastructure, we are using Windows Server, which obviously saves some costs.

Windows Server is the OS for servers in our IT environment. Its features depend on the servers we're running, such as web servers or file servers. It's a well-known server OS, making it suitable for all our needs. For security, we have no issues as we use several security applications like BlackPoint and Kaspersky, along with backup systems, and we keep the server up-to-date.

Windows Server offers easy-to-use features, support, a web interface with a Windows interface, and security. The security features, such as Windows Defender, are excellent. I can manage the firewalls on the server easily, open or close ports to manage security traffic, and use encryption on the hard disk to keep data secure.

Windows Server meets our needs; no one works without Microsoft these days. We run applications on top of Windows Server, and all our banking applications use Windows Server. Although we have some Oracle databases and Unix systems, most of our servers are Windows Server, totaling around seven hundred. Our strategy is to move everything to the cloud, decreasing the operational cost.

In my opinion, the ease of use of Windows Server is the most effective feature. The recent versions of 2009 and 2002 show valuable enhancements, making Windows Server highly effective and reliable.
View full review »It's easy to manage core applications and deploy engineers.
Windows engineers are more affordable than Linux or Unix engineers, so that's another advantage. So, the management costs are much lower for the Windows Server.
Plus, troubleshooting is straightforward with readily available online resources, so we don't need to raise tickets or wait for help. We can easily search on Google and find the solution on the search engine.

Windows Server is similar to any other typical server, considering that there are multiple servers available in the market. The ease of administration that the product provides is one of the reasons why my company uses it.
When we deploy this operating system, we're primarily focused on managing virtual environments. There are different parts like the directory, data storage, and CPU usage which are really useful. We also compare it to other parts like group policy, all of which are related to users. Currently, I find that users are very involved when it comes to these applications or servers on the two other links.

We use Active Directory and IIS to host different kinds of web apps. We have also used the FTP feature for our FTP server.
FTP functionality does not require additional payment because Windows Server already includes the feature, reducing the costs of these tools. Windows Server also includes IIS, a web server hosting applications. This allows us to build and test applications directly on the server from scratch.

View full review »We like the ease of use, stability and performance of Windows Server. The reason I was skeptical when it comes to moving to Windows Server 2019, which is currently the latest version that the market has to offer, is because the solution is easy to use and stable, something typical of any OS. While we are currently inspecting the compatibility of applications that are running on Windows version 2019, we're still using the 2012 version and everything is working fine.
