TIBCO Jaspersoft Valuable Features

With the online view, it's easier to create Ad Hoc reports. It has inbuilt reports so we can easily get data from the system and customize the fields. If we want the measures in the report from the custom report, we need to write a query, SQL queries, or a Jasper SQL query. Using Ad Hoc reports, we can easily create measures. With the help of the measures, we're able to do some customizations, which are similar to the SQL deep level query.

I cannot say there is only one feature I like. As a whole, the design and the connectivity through the data sources are great. It's all well-planned. It can connect to many data sources. We use spreadsheets, MySQL, Postgres, Oracle, and so on, without issue. We like that it allows us to connect to many data sources.

It's easy to use and maintain. If you just export, or you want to transform this product to another environment, it's easy. I feel confident with this product. There are no concerns regarding loss either as it's easy to redeploy.

The solution is standalone with the flexibility to use visualize.js to embed within the application. You can write Java script, call reports the same name in the repository and application, and create a single sign on.

It is easy to drag-and-drop reports into Canvas to create a custom dashboard.

HTML5 charts include hover options and overall tips when exporting to PDFs. If you move your mouse over any point, you get details. This is in contrast to the architecture prior to version 5. For example, you used to create reports in iReports using the embedded JFree chart library that was WYSIWYG and did not include hover options or details.

The solution gives you access to the source code for free modifications. In contrast, Tableau charges for modifications or enhancements.

What I find the most valuable about the solution is that it came with a package and reports from a company adapter IT. We purchased it from there.

We can set any property dynamically. We have to use different currencies. Sometimes, we use the pound sign. Sometimes, we use the dollar sign. Our software is a multi-currency software. We have defined the currencies as dynamic parameters. We directly populate the signs in our PDFs.

The end-user reporting is very handy and the standard reports that can be achieved by using Jaspersoft Studio are quite impressive. Even people with limited programming experience can quickly pick up how to use the product and create reports. The Community Edition is also quite helpful and cost-effective, allowing people to meet their reporting needs without spending a large budget where ad-hoc reporting is not required.

The designer is the most valuable feature. For example, I saw that Jasper has some Excel files. We can also design macros on Excel files, which is very useful for customers who need to work with them. Additionally, some customers want to look at Excel to see, the callers, and sales. With macros and formulas, I can do everything they imagine. Other solutions don't have the option to create macros on Excel. We have designed some reports and we can also use them inside of the report set to set properties for Excel. Macros, formulas, and other features are very useful for Economists. I often use these features.

Pros:

1) Community edition which is free is the best buy for small to medium companies who can't afford any money at all to try a product.

The solution is user-friendly. I have had no issues connecting an Oracle database to populate the report. The connection process is straightforward, and the solution supports a variety of reports. Additionally, the user interface is intuitive and provides plenty of options for producing quality reports.

The most valuable features are the security file and the general data level security implementation framework. Apart from using the Jaspersoft domains to constrain data on the report, using the security file adds another level of security to your data. This is essential for those of us who require data to be provided based on user privileges.

The REST API functionality on the server is valuable because it gave us a really easy way to distribute reports to non-technical end users. They don't have to remember another login, don't have to learn a new interface; they just click a link and *bam* they have their report.

The reports and analytic view feature and the ability to generate large reports in background are most valuable to us. The feature that allows to run different reports in the background helps to create long running reports without affecting the system performance, i.e., you can continue working in the Jaspersoft tool, while the job that generates reports runs in the background.
