Architect at a insurance company with 1,001-5,000 employees
Excellent MDM in my opinion. Needs better workflows for our business users.
What is most valuable?
- Seamless integration of MDM, data quality and data integration modules
- Repository of data models from other customers - very useful!
- Support for multiple domains including product and location data
- Flexible architecture supports registry, consolidation, coexistence, and transaction styles. We use the coexistence style.
- Management of party data
- Performance is good, even as our database has grown in size over the past year
What needs improvement?
- When we compared Informatica to SAP, we realized that we lose the ability to integrate easily with our SAP business applications
- Needs more preconfigured business rules and services
- Weak in data stewardship. The UI in particular needs improvement.
- Reporting can be improved.
What other advice do I have?
Facebook integration looks interesting, but we haven't taken advantage of it. Informatica is a very innovative company in my opinion.

Reliable, scalable, but integration could improve
Pros and Cons
- "I have received feedback from certain teams and there is a steep learning curve to use this solution."
What needs improvement?
I have received feedback from certain teams and there is a steep learning curve to use this solution.
In a future release, there should be better integration with other governance tools.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using Informatica Cloud Data Integration for approximately three years. We have been using it consistently for one year in a large project.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
The solution is reliable.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
Informatica Cloud Data Integration has a strong enterprise customer base and this is one of the main reasons why we choose to work with them. The solution is scalable.

Excellent mass ingestion functionality and great elasticity
Pros and Cons
- "The mass ingestion functionality and the elasticity of the solution are great."
- "The price modeling could be more flexible."
What is our primary use case?
Our primary use case of this solution is for data integration; integrating cloud warehouse or cloud layout. Cloud Data Integration offers capabilities that didn't exist in the on-prem version. I'm the company product manager.
What is most valuable?
The mass ingestion functionality and the elasticity of the solution are great. It enables you to leverage the elasticity capability that the cloud provides. You can build a process, scale-up and leverage all the elasticity and the automatic provision the cloud has. What took 10 hours to do in the on-prem version, takes less than an hour in the cloud. It's a huge difference. The solution is designed for a cloud-native approach with native components and connectors for all the cloud-ready solutions we need nowadays.
What needs improvement?
I think the price modeling could be improved. Currently, the IPU consumption is defined on a monthly basis and if you don't use all the IPUs available in a particular month, they are lost. A more flexible pricing model is something Informatica should look at.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
The solution is scalable.
How are customer service and support?
The technical support is good, we raise the tickets in the Informatica Support Portal.
What other advice do I have?
The solution is great once you have a clear roadmap of migration to the cloud. In the cloud migration journey, it's important to be clear of the entire process.
I rate this solution nine out of 10.

This product really improves my organization and fits all of the needed requirements for working with cleansed data. This helps to prevent issues from appearing in the business layer.
What is most valuable?

Regarding SAP integration- Depends on your scale, existing infrastructure, SLAs, etc. - it's always a minefield. In abstract terms, the products themselves will integrate without major issues. My personal biggest gripe with Informatica is their pricing model, it is outrageous for large data volumes, everything is good until one looks at the price tag.
