Fortinet FortiEDR Primary Use Case
We work with some other Fortinet tools including EDR, XDR, ADC, and more.
EDR is used by our team only for one project, that solution, endpoint detection, which is for corporate or in-house purposes. That solution is working fine.
In this project, we are using it within a development team where one network exists. For that, we are using all the systems, primarily Windows PCs, and now we are migrating to Linux as well, along with an enterprise RHEL server. We are planning for RHEL migration since currently, it is on the Windows 2008 server.

I do not work with FortiSandbox.
For email security, I use Check Point Harmony email rather than Fortinet.
I work with Infoblox, Fortinet, Check Point, and BeyondTrust.
I am familiar with Infoblox NIOS and Infoblox BloxOne.
I have years of experience with BloxOne Threat Defense from working with this solution.
I had one case in 2023 where I worked with Infoblox Defense.
The products I use are FortiGate, FortiAnalyzer, FortiManager, and FortiEndpoint. I am in pre-sales teams, so I create business materials and conduct presentations. I do not work in implementation or post-sales.
View full review »For FortiDR, it serves as an add-on to the firewalls and the SD-WAN solution that I am already using from Fortinet. Basically, it is an additional layer on top of my existing network environment.
Initially, when I started, I bought FortiGate from Fortinet. After that, I implemented tools like webmail. Then, after maybe six months to a year, I decided to switch from my existing EDR to other vendor solutions, like Kaspersky, Trend Micro, or Broadcom, and eventually switched to Fortinet since it's interoperable with the firewall I am already using.
The EDR became the next step in implementing Fortinet solutions for me.

As a result, we partnered with Fortinet and chose to use FortiEDR in our environment. FortiEDR helps block USB devices, protects specific applications, prevents unauthorized software installations, and controls lateral movement within the network. This allows us to maintain greater control over third-party devices and software within our IT infrastructure.

We are an incident response team, and we use Fortinet FortiEDR for our cyber protection-related activities.
View full review »Our primary use cases for Fortinet FortiEDR are cash registers and endpoint, and point of sales.
The reason we originally started with FortiClient with one of our clients in the first place was that they were able to have legacy cash registers, a really old technology, which we had to get to run in a small resource space, and FortiClient, which was the predecessor, allowed us to literally pick and choose what features we wanted in the client and reduce its size, which you couldn't do with any other types of clients that were out there. That's how we started with that.
It is mostly on premise and any cloud services that we use are directly from Fortinet themselves. I would call that public cloud. We do run some of the customer's environment in private cloud, basically co-location. This has provided the services back to their dataset. I am talking about Fortinet's cloud for the public. For the private stuff it was basically out at Q9, which is the co-location provider.
