We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"It provides real-time information alerts.""We can have a real-time detection for the root cause of problems, minimizing time to resolution.""This can help customers who already have a lot of monitoring providers consolidate what they have."

"In my experience, being able to monitor our databases is a valuable feature as we can create our own queries and aren't reliant on the in-built ones.""It's also easy to implement. The implementation of Geneos is very easy and interesting. It's not complicated. It's very quick to implement. The installation is very easy. There are many topics about ITRS Geneos that explain more about the features of the function of Geneos.""The biggest benefit of Geneos is the fact that we can clearly see, if we have an alert, where that alert has come from. We can see the data around that alert and anything that might be relevant is also shown. We can very easily right-click and see why we've received that alert. That's the best part about it, that you've got all the data there with the alerting.""It enables us to monitor application processes, to do log-monitoring on a 24/7 basis, to do server-level monitoring - all the hardware parameters - as well as monitor connectivity across applications to the interfaces.""The solution is used across the entire investment banking division, covering environments such as electronic trading, algo-trading, fixed income, FX, etc. It monitors that environment and enables a bank to significantly reduce down time. Although hard to measure, since implementation, we have probably seen some increased stability because of it and we have definitely seen teams a lot more aware of their environment. Consequently, we can be more proactive in challenging and improving previously undetected weaknesses.""ITRS uses SNMP to communicate with our devices as well as SNMP net probes installed on our servers.""The Netprobe is so lightweight compared to the agents that most monitoring tools use. It's really superior to the competition. The agent that is used by almost every competitive tool takes a lot more system resources. It's slower and it requires a greater effort and more compromises in terms of security to install on the monitored servers. With Geneos, because it lives outside the code, it is far easier and far less taxing on the monitored systems.""Custom script toolkits"

Cons
"It would help to have historical information."

More INETCO Insight Cons →

"The deployment method for upgrading is a bit tricky. It takes a little bit of manual effort. If that could be a bit more automated, it would help us a lot.""They have the Webslinger solution where you can see when something is alerting. It's a little bit cumbersome.""One thing that could be improved in terms of rapid scaling would be more ability to clone aspects of an implementation. It seems like there are opportunities in this area, where we have repetitive tasks to do when it comes to implementing things on new servers or on new gateways. It would be great if there was an easy way to clone something that had already been done.""Mobile phone integration is probably not as rich as it could be.""I would like ITRS Geneos to develop an app, where instead of going to specific login terminals or logging into laptops or desktops to check alerts, we can have visibility in the app itself.""Sometimes, if there is a lot of data coming onto the servers, we have observed a little bit of slowness on the gateway servers which are doing the ITRS dashboard monitoring.""At the moment Geneos is excellent and handling real time monitoring, however not great at doing historical reporting.""Much of the reporting outside of the user interface is very basic and requires much customization to be useful."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "Customers can save costs (time and money) by integrating with this tool."
  • More INETCO Insight Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "You will get the best price if you get a single global deal."
  • "The product is priced quite high. There are pricing options for customers based on the size of the environment and plug-ins used by the monitoring system."
  • "Pricing and licensing is based on the requirements."
  • "The licensing cost may seem expensive upfront. However, the service is outstanding, the tool does things that no other tools can do, and the customizability more than makes up for the cost of licensing."
  • "Pricing is the touchy subject, even here. Upper management always wants us to find a cheaper solution. But we have so much integrated with ITRS... It's expensive, but it does its job very well. And you set it and go."
  • "It is expensive. They have to look at the model around when we move to cloud and how that's going to work. The licensing cost does pay off because of the improvements in support to our business."
  • "When I first came in, their pricing was very high. ITRS had a high expectation of what their price should be based on perceived value. I think they have been realizing, more recently, that there are other competitors, so their pricing is a lot better. Licensing for on-premise is okay, however I feel there is quite some work to be done for cloud and containers. We're still working with them to try and work out what that pricing should look like."
  • "Given our spend and the amount of service we have in it, the pricing is quite reasonable."
