We performed a comparison between HashiCorp Terraform and Quest KACE Systems Management based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Configuration Management solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."The Autopilot feature is fantastic. It is a Microsoft product, so it deals best with Microsoft operating systems, but it can integrate with iOS, Mac OS, Linux, and Android."
"Autopilot is a great feature. Most users are looking for a zero-touch deployment."
"If you need only to load a specific profile and you don't have deep security functionalities, et cetera, Intune is very nice and good."
"At the moment, Autopilot is the most valuable feature."
"Users can make screenshots, and devices only need the minimal version of iOS."
"One of the main features of the solution is it allows the management of many devices in different ways."
"Internet-based access with security is what I have found to be most valuable. It is also a stable and scalable solution."
"The security-related tools are excellent; these features allow us to secure devices, lock them down, and ensure compliance."
"The most valuable feature is the great community support."
"It is a stable solution."
"We save a lot of time with this solution."
"The most valuable feature is the solution does not need installation."
"Provides automation which has increased our efficiency."
"HashiCorp Terraform is highly stable."
"It allows for the abstraction of the work away from the developer into automated processes."
"The most valuable features of Terraform are leveraging public modules for EKS, KMS, and ECR."
"This product made the job easy to do without having to go put hands on the machines."
"The most valuable feature is the ability to have an overview of all devices that are accessing our environment."
"I can reach people now that I couldn't have reached previously. We are saving about 25 percent in time."
"I am impressed by the service desk ticketing and asset management."
"This solution makes it easy to control assets and upgrade all types of software."
"There is ease of use, and its pricing was a driving factor."
"KACE’s knowledge-based articles are very good."
"The scripting part increases IT productivity because of the specialized software in our environments for students' courses. You need to use software which is not programmed by developers. A lot of software for building houses or other things is developed by normal guys, who do not have much skill in programming. When you need to install this type of software, it is very difficult. You have to install registry keys, etc. For that, it is very good to use the scripting part of this solution. So, you can automate this part as well."
"For an existing customer who has an SCCM, it would need to be upgraded to an MECM first before I can introduce Microsoft Intune."
"I think there should be a better tracking of the cell phones used on the Intune."
"Microsoft Intune lacks the ability to provide seamless remote assistance or remote control."
"They need to add more group policies. Intune currently does not have many group policies that you can deploy. Its reporting, which is very limited at the moment, also needs improvement. It will be great if they can add report customization. Its stability needs to be improved. Sometimes, when you register a device in Intune, it doesn't show up instantly on the engine portal on the admin side. They need to provide better support for complicated issues. They also have a long turnaround time."
"There is room for improvement, particularly in terms of compatibility, extending beyond the well-known major brands."
"There is improvement needed in integrating with the installed Office solutions versions, such as Office 2019. The Office 365 integrates without a problem."
"One area for improvement is app deployment. Another is the Windows update rollout. If you're rolling out an object to a device that's offline, Intune stops trying to reach this device after it sits idle for a bit. We are forced to find a workaround that could help manage that."
"I would like to see micro VPN. I like the way that some of the other providers have done something similar where, as you open that app on an end-point device, it creates a micro VPN straight into your device, which is quite a nice little feature. Also, Microsoft Intune relies heavily on its fellow products in the suite. It would be nice if Microsoft Intune could stand on its own two feet."
"The product's initial setup phase was easy."
"It would be nice if they could put our infrastructure on graphics or at least provide a map of our infrastructure."
"With cloud providers always adding new resource types, there are certain resources that Terraform does not support. It would be great if it could support those resources as well."
"Terraform should also support YAML language, which is more user-friendly than HCL. They should also add a GUI, so you don't need to memorize all the commands. A GUI would enable us to do everything with a click of a button."
"On a scale from one to ten, I would give this solution a rating of seven; strictly because I was uncomfortable using the ARM template earlier. After another six months, I am sure I will give it a rating of 10, but at this point in time in my experience, I say seven, but not because of the tool itself."
"The price of the solution could improve."
"Community tech support could be a little better."
"The product can integrate and utilize more services from different competitors. Currently, their commands are quite similar to Kubernetes, which we use in our CI/CD pipeline. Also, they should consider incorporating Windows command line, like PowerShell."
"Paying for the product should come with full and extended training anytime it is needed."
"One of the complications is that they don't have 24/7 support, and they're also not in our time zone... Sometimes, no matter how critical my application is, if my production server is down I won't be able to connect with anybody till 11:00 AM Eastern Standard Time."
"There should be a mini toolbox, like the competitors of KACE have, with the small features for KACE administrators. That would make their lives easier. If you are troubleshooting a specific endpoint, remote control is available as is Wake-on-LAN. But if you want to execute some commands, you have to use a third-party tool, the PS tool. If they would integrate those small things, it would make KACE more powerful."
"It could be designed a little bit more intuitively in terms of administration."
"I would like for there to be improvement when it comes to Microsoft and Windows updates. It has the ability to do it but the control of it is not there like I have in the Windows Server Update Services. The way KACE does it is still very granular. You don't really see the process like it is in the Windows Server Update Services. I think that would be one of the biggest things that I would like to see KACE really put some work into and really make that a big enhancement."
"The software asset management functionality is an area that needs to be improved. It could be more automated because when connections need to be made, such as when I connected Adobe and my malware removed, the process was pretty much manual."
"The only hiccups we had were some power issues, where the box was a little under-powered early on."
"The labeling process should be more streamlined. It should be easier to do. It gets confusing at times."
