We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"It allows us to easily troubleshoot computer issues instead of calling a tech person or do the troubleshooting ourselves and taking the time to do it.""It shows us not only when utilization is high, but also when it is low.""MetricsView allows us to keep an eye on computer memory, internal network availability, processors, etc. Letting us know where our issues are coming from based on those numbers."

"The most valuable features have been the interface and the ability to do equipment management.""It covers a lot of different types of hardware. It can do a lot and saves us time.""The granular access control that it provided so that you could only see devices that were related to what you were working on was great. I couldn't see the entire inventory of devices. I could only see the ones that were related to my work. It has got a very granular access control component.""Spectrum does such a great job of discovering our network that we have a high confidence in what our inventory is.""The containerization of different objects was very helpful in building an org structure. Being able to separately manage your MSP clients with separate visibility was also helpful.""Spectrum is great for root cause analysis. It has excellent correlation event management. Spectrum's stability and scalability are also amazing.""The quick notification of issues, quick alerting because timeliness is always valuable, it's very important for us.""It is very stable. We have not had any major issues in over 10 years."

"The initial setup was not complex.""It meets my organizational needs. It's pretty easy to use.""Zabbix is very easy to implement.""The level of discovery-based configuration that lets us auto-configure the monitoring for various systems is a valuable feature.""The solution allows you to configure and customize how you want to collect information from servers or other systems.""Simple network monitoring that is easy to install and manage.""The most valuable feature is the alert and alarm monitoring.""The integration capabilities and APIs are the best part."

Cons
"An online app or download would be useful for the next release, possibly even a phone app that I could use to view my dashboard when I am stationed remotely."

More Dotcom-Monitor MetricsView Monitoring Cons →

"If the integration is simplified or improved, it will be a unique selling point in comparison to the competition on the market.""It needs better integration with other CA products.""It doesn't really allow for multi-tenancy. If you're an ISP or an MSP and you want to use this tool to provide these types of fault management services to your customers, you would need a separate SpectroSERVER for each customer...""The Spectrum OneClick is a Java-based client, and that's aging. Really, before any new feature integration, I'd love to see a comprehensive rebuild of the UI.""If nobody else has said the documentation needs improvement, let's go there. I understand, you can either write about it or you can do it. And most of us would rather they do it, but now that they've done it, those of us that didn't do it, we need to go and find: "Where did they write about this to tell us how to do it?" That's always lacking.""The platform is complicated to use.""The biggest issue is our integration right now between UIM and Spectrum is lacking.""From a functionality perspective, the product is not doing what it should. Also, there are some concerns about the accessibility. I would appreciate additional out-of-the-box troubleshooting scripts, like templates for addressing various issues. Currently, when troubleshooting online, I need to create my scripts. It would be beneficial if the platform could provide pre-built scripts or templates to help automate certain troubleshooting tasks."

More DX Spectrum Cons →

"The integration of the product is not so easy, especially when it comes to the application database.""The main problem with Zabbix is that you have to spend time writing templates for all of the products that you have.""I would like for this solution to be more cloud-friendly.""I am having difficulties connecting it to Grafana, as well as some of the other plugins like Kibana.""Zabbix isn't very good at automation just yet.""The graphical user interface could be customized a little bit more, and also the dashboard could be more friendly.""It could be more stable.""There are a lot of areas for improvement, specifically in the dashboards and reports functionalities."

Pricing and Cost Advice
Information Not Available
  • "It is very pricey. With the current trend of enterprises moving towards cheaper and more modern looking solutions like ManageEngine, SevOne, ServicePilot, and Paesller."
  • "It’s a great tool, but an expensive one. Learn how to use it properly."
  • "The cost of some of these products are a little cost prohibitive, which is unfortunate. We have to find lower cost solutions for some of the things that we have to pull in. For the most part, CA has capabilities in pretty much everything that you would need. You just have to figure out where are you going to spend the most money for what you have to actually get done. You can do all these things but, which ones do you have to do? And that's hard to choose sometimes because you want to do them all."
  • "In general, the license cost will be about 30% of the total TCO for this tool (hardware/support team, OS costs, and OS management)."
  • "The product, support, and maintenance are all expensive, which is another reason that we are switching to another solution."
  • "The price is very high."
  • "The price of the solution is reasonable."
  • "Currently, a perpetual license but some services are moving to a subscription"
  • More DX Spectrum Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "It’s free of cost."
  • "It is a true open-source solution, so there are no licensing costs."
  • "The product is an open source and free solution."
  • "It's free software released under the GNU/GPL license."
  • "There are no licenses."
  • "We’re using the free version, which covers all our current needs."
  • "It is free, which allows us to reduce costs."
  • "I was using the free, Community Edition."

    Comparison Review
    Anonymous User
I have researched a quite a few network monitoring tools which can be used for various monitoring purposes of not only the servers, but the intermediate routers as well. There are majorly three types of these softwares. Ones which are completely open-source, you can do almost anything you want using these, but they require quite some expertise before you can use them. Then there are the ones that are not open source, the enterprise softwares and cost you some money, but on the other hand, they are extremely easy to set-up and learn. You can have them up and running in a matter of minutes. And then there are those which are completely cloud based. They can be free of cost or charge some money depending on the software. The good thing about these is that you don’t have to install any extra software, and it can be managed completely online but then again these have limited features and you cannot exploit them to the full extent as you can do with the open-source and to some extent the enterprise software, so I won’t suggest you to use these, because these are generally not the complete solutions and require other support software to achieve the same. Below I have listed the outstanding pros and cons of the various Network analyzers that you can look into Nagios Pros: Nagios offers an extensive set of collector plug-ins that allows users to gather performance and availability data from a broad range of operating systems, including  Windows and Netware Nagios… Read more →

    Reviews from Real Users

DX Spectrum stands out among its competitors for a number of reasons. Two major ones are its robust root cause analysis and its event correlation tool. PeerSpot users take note of the advantages of these features in their reviews:

It has all the capabilities that you're looking for when it comes to monitoring. Spectrum is great for root cause analysis. It has excellent correlation event management. Spectrum's stability and scalability are also amazing. If you have a CA Service Desk, then it can be integrated so that if you have open tickets they can be closed automatically.”

Itarchit, an IT Architect at a comms service provider, notes, “The most valuable feature is the event correlation mechanism. I also like the product's multi-customer approach.” He adds, “We haven't seen a better product. Overall, I am happy with this solution.
