Microsoft Entra ID Governance Reviews

As a security admin in Paraguay, I rely on Microsoft Entra ID Governance to handle frequent account compromises. It helps me manage access easily, set up access rules, and automate user access.

RBAC provided by Microsoft Entra ID Governance has significantly improved security and compliance posture. Companies that prioritize security segment their roles effectively, and utilizing RBAC helps enforce this. By assigning specific roles with limited access, it reduces the risk of unauthorized access and ensures compliance with security policies.

The most valuable feature of Microsoft Entra ID Governance for identity management is multi-factor authentication. Through my experience supporting customers, I have found that many users compromise their security by not activating it. Enabling multi-factor authentication, especially in serious companies, significantly enhances security by adding an extra layer of protection.

One area for improvement in Microsoft Entra ID Governance could be providing more granular control over security policies. For example, the ability to enable or disable features like multi-factor authentication or default security policies on a per-user or per-application basis, rather than applying them organization-wide.

I have been working with Microsoft Entra ID Governance for about four months.

I would rate the stability of the product as a nine out of ten.

The product scales quite well. We have approximately 300 end users.

I would rate the tech support for Microsoft Entra ID Governance a six out of ten. They are fairly quick to respond, usually getting back to you within a day of requesting support. However, it can take a few days to receive a solution after the initial call.

The initial setup of Microsoft Entra ID Governance is straightforward. It provides all the necessary information to set up your domain and users, making it easy to create user accounts once the domain is established. I would rate the easiness of the setup as a nine out of ten.

Deploying Microsoft Entra ID Governance in our company usually involves five to ten people for onboarding and setup. However, maintenance typically requires only two to three people, unless there is a major issue.

The standard license for Microsoft Entra ID Governance typically costs around $12.50 per month for individual users, with discounts available for bulk purchases. There are no additional costs beyond the standard licensing fees.

Microsoft Entra ID Governance makes managing user accounts easier. I guide organizations to set up rules and settings smoothly, reducing the need for repetitive explanations. Once in place, issues from the same users or companies typically decrease because they understand and follow the rules.

In our company, Microsoft Entra ID Governance smoothly manages access requests. Users undergo multi-factor authentication, including SMS confirmation, ensuring security. We also implement zero-trust and network access authentication for extra protection. 

Integrating Microsoft Entra ID Governance with other systems in our IT environment has been effective overall. However, there have been barriers in some cases, particularly with older Paraguay systems. For example, when integrating with mailing systems or older tools, we sometimes need to disable default security policies or multi-factor authentication, which can compromise security.

Overall, I would rate Microsoft Entra ID Governance a nine out of ten. While it can be complex for less experienced users, once you understand it, it offers comprehensive solutions that bring significant benefits to the table.

We use the product for identity management within Microsoft Azure. It ensures secure access and protects resources. It enables the right access to the right features for the right users.

The product's most valuable features are the robust audit trail capabilities.

The platform's configuration process needs improvement.

We have been using Microsoft Entra ID Governance for five to six years.

We have a few thousand employees using Microsoft Entra ID Governance. We have a small footprint of external users. Thus, scalability is not a primary concern for us.

Previously, I was a part of CyberArk's implementation team. It was an expensive product. Our enterprise agreement with Microsoft influenced the decision to switch, which included Azure Active Directory.

The tool is designed to streamline user access. In our organization, the complexity arises not from the tool itself but from its configuration and legacy architecture closely tied to its operating model. We are undertaking a program to review and address these challenges, aiming to uncouple the tool from legacy constraints.

We utilize Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) as the primary tool to manage temporary workers. Azure Active Directory helps us manage access for external individuals joining the network.

It provided us with flexibility in migrating workloads to the cloud. Previously, using Citrix for external access, integrating it with Active Directory, and transitioning to Azure Virtual Desktop has streamlined our approach.

Microsoft is investing in Entra ID, recognizing the evolving landscape of distributed networks and the increasing importance of cybersecurity. It helps us deal with challenges in managing access to systems. It offers a potential competitor, even against established products like CyberArk.

I rate it a seven out of ten.

The product helps us manage user access to applications easily. We can create, delete, or deactivate users, and integrate them with our company's email and network systems.

The platform's most valuable feature is the single sign-on service. It allows us to manage users effectively, integrating them with various company systems.

The product's workflow approval process needs improvement. Currently, we mainly use firewall detection for approvals, but more options could enhance workflow management.

We are using the latest version of Microsoft Entra ID Governance.

It has been a stable platform, with no issues or outages experienced.

I would rate the initial setup process a nine out of ten, as it was easy to work with.

I would rate the price of the solution a seven out of ten. While I don't have pricing comparisons with other vendors, it is not inexpensive. There are no additional costs besides the standard licensing fees.

I highly recommend Microsoft Entra ID Governance, as it has been a reliable solution for managing user access to applications. I rate it a nine out of ten. 

We use the solution for SoD, access certification, access review, and access package, which will include Microsoft applications like Teams or SharePoint.

The most valuable feature of Microsoft Entra ID Governance is access reviews. Microsoft Entra ID Governance works well with Microsoft applications and products.

The solution lacks the feature to work well with third-party applications. Microsoft Entra ID Governance does not provide full-fledged governance features that are provided by other tools, such as Saviynt.

I have been using Microsoft Entra ID Governance for 2 years.

While other products give the pricing for their application, Microsoft Entra ID Governance has a per-user-based license model. The solution's pricing is not a problem for customers already using the Office 365 license. They just need to have some additional licenses on top of it, like a P2 license. If the customer has an E5 license, the solution is included in that.

I would recommend the solution to other users.

We use the solution to maintain access reviews, govern external identities, and manage things.

We recently found a great solution for our external identities, which we have been struggling with a lot. The tool gives us the entitlement management capability of removing guest accounts automatically from the tenant. Previously, your guest accounts would be there unless you explicitly removed them. The solution gives me the capability to automatically move guest accounts from the tenant without any manual intervention.

Other governance solutions, like SailPoint, have different modules for managing access packages, and they have a very easy way of managing those identities and access from a single console. Microsoft Entra ID Governance should improve its capability to manage identities and access from a single console.

The tool should include more automation capabilities where I can even use existing users. If I create an access package or access reviews, the solution makes it easy for me to integrate new users. I would like to see the existing users governed by Microsoft Entra ID Governance.

I have been using Microsoft Entra ID Governance for five to six years.

I rate the solution a seven or eight out of ten for stability.

I don't think the solution is quite mature enough to be used by enterprise businesses. However, medium-sized organizations can take advantage of the tool because it would be cost-effective for them.

I rate the solution’s scalability an eight out of ten.

I don't think Microsoft engineers are very comfortable with Microsoft Entra ID Governance. Since this product and its features are new, I think the Microsoft engineers struggle a bit to provide solutions. I'm not saying they are not trying, but they take some time to provide solutions after understanding the customer use cases.

I have previously used SailPoint. Compared to Microsoft Entra ID Governance, SailPoint has more features. Microsoft Entra ID Governance is not there yet, but I think they're trying hard and will be there soon.

The solution's initial setup is almost out of the box and not quite complicated. However, I would love to see a more detailed step-by-step approach in Microsoft documentation, which would help users like me use the product more broadly. A little improvement on the documentation part would help.

The solution's pricing is not low but reasonable. I would like to see the licensing in a different way because there are still some complexities around the licensing model. The tool has a Step-Up License and other things. One easy solution for licensing would be beneficial.

Any SaaS solutions, like Salesforce, that we have in the environment can easily be integrated with Microsoft Entra ID Governance single sign-on. I would recommend the product to other users.
