A customer-friendly solution that provides 24/7 support and EDR
Pros and Cons
  • "The failure rate is very low."
  • "The solution could provide more frequent updates."

What is our primary use case?

The solution provides 24/7 support and EDR. The failure rate is very low. It is customer-friendly.

What needs improvement?

The solution could provide more frequent updates.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Business for over 2 years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The product is stable.

I rate the solution’s stability a nine out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution’s scalability is great.

4-5 customers are using this solution.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have used CloudStrike. CloudStrike and Kaspersky have the same features but different use cases depending on the customers.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is straightforward, even with a catalog of fifty or ten thousand per client. It's on par with similar solutions in terms of complexity. It takes around three months to deploy completely, depending on the customers.

What was our ROI?

The solution is worth considering because you don't need one person solely for administration. You can set up Kaspersky for trusted sites or Active Directory, which replaces a full-time administrator. Handling it is easy, but it might seem complex for a regular administrator dealing with customer support and other tasks.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The pricing is good. It has a monthly subscription.

I rate the product’s pricing a six out of ten, where one is cheap, and ten is expensive.

What other advice do I have?

I rate Kaspersky’s ease of management a ten out of ten.

Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Business offers a distinct advantage regarding reports and data protection. For instance, we opt for active tools if a customer uses multiple security vendors. Transitioning to Kaspersky might require removing or replacing existing solutions, which can be costly.

Overall, I rate the solution a nine out of ten.

Easy to configure and used for endpoint protection and detection response
Pros and Cons
  • "Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Business detects malware and is easy to configure."
  • "The solution's management console can be better and more granular than it is now."

What is our primary use case?

Initially, we used the solution for endpoint protection, but now we also use it for detection response.

What is most valuable?

I like the fact that the solution is automated to a large extent, and it works on its own with minimal intervention. Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Business detects malware and is easy to configure.

What needs improvement?

The solution's management console can be better and more granular than it is now. The solution could add a sandbox in which we could simulate files. The technical support team’s response time could be improved.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Business for 12 years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I rate the solution an eight out of ten for stability.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I rate the solution an eight out of ten for scalability.

How are customer service and support?

The solution's technical support used to be slow, and they forced you to get paid support. With free support, you typically get a response in a day or two for your queries.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Neutral

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have previously used McAfee and Norton. McAfee used to be quite heavy on the system, and quite a lot of malware used to fall through it back then.

How was the initial setup?

On a scale from one to ten, where one is difficult and ten is easy, I rate the solution's initial setup a nine out of ten.

What about the implementation team?

For a 2,500-user environment, it took a week to deploy the solution. Our IT team worked on the implementation of the solution.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Business is an expensive solution.

On a scale from one to ten, where one is cheap and ten is expensive, I rate the solution's pricing a seven out of ten.

What other advice do I have?

The solution is centrally managed. We deploy the network agent with Windows tools and then deploy the endpoint security through the network agent. The solution has effectively improved our endpoint security posture, and we've not had any ransomware issues. The solution has a negative impact on the performance of our endpoints.

We can do some investigation with the EDR component. I would recommend the solution to other users.

Overall, I rate the solution an eight out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

It's reliable and secure, but the monitoring and notifications could be more detailed
Pros and Cons
  • "The performance is good. It doesn't use a lot of resources, which is crucial for us."
  • "With Kaspersky in place, we haven't faced any problems with viruses, ransomware, or anything like that."
  • "Kaspersky and most other security products have a lot of modules. They recently added several new ones. You find yourself buying and deploying so many things. There are some modules that everyone uses, like, for example, the orchestration module. Instead of selling them separately, it would be better to have bundles or an all-in-one license."
  • "In the past, Kaspersky had different solutions for the clients and servers. We are using another product from Trend Micro that will integrate these products, which is better than having different solutions."

What is our primary use case?

We install Kaspersky to protect our endpoints for clients and servers. In the past, Kaspersky had different solutions for the clients and servers. We use the solution for protection from viruses, malware, etc., on the client's side.

I'm not sure if we'll increase usage of Kaspersky or try another solution. We are having discussions now with Trend Micro because we have new business requirements, and we want to see all the different capabilities that are there.

When we started with Kaspersky, it was an antivirus system, but now they've added endpoint protection, so it has more capabilities. Trend Micro has the same product and engine for clients and servers. We are using another product from Trend Micro that will integrate these products, which is better than having different solutions. For now, we're still using Kaspersky, but in the future, I think we'll move to Trend Micro.

What is most valuable?

With Kaspersky in place, we haven't faced any problems with viruses, ransomware, or anything like that.

What needs improvement?

If something critical happens, Kaspersky will alert the admin or SOC team about it. I think Kaspersky's reporting, monitoring, and notifications should be more detailed.

In my case, different admins are responsible because we have various departments. There is one admin per department. We don't need to receive all the notifications. We can receive only the critical alerts, but the other admins need to get all of them. That's one area where Kaspersky needs improvement.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using Kaspersky for five or six years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The performance is good. It doesn't use a lot of resources, which is crucial for us. However, the performance wasn't optimal out of the box. It needed some tuning on it to be sure that it is the best configuration. Kaspersky is reliable. I can't recall any time we had crashes or downtime.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Kaspersky is highly scalable. Right now, we have more than 500 users in various departments, including regular employees and managers.

How are customer service and support?

Kaspersky support is fast and good.

How was the initial setup?

Setting up Kaspersky isn't complex at all. It's straightforward. You install the server, and then you can install the agent remotely. It didn't take very long either. For post-installation maintenance, we have different sites, and each site has an engineer responsible for handling Kaspersky. The product doesn't necessarily require this many engineers. It's only because we have different locations. Right now, we have five or six engineers across the various sites.

What about the implementation team?

We used a Kaspersky partner for implementation. They were very good.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I don't remember exactly what the licenses cost, but it's not too expensive. It's affordable,
especially when you are dealing with on-prem. However, I don't know about the new prices because we are in the process of buying support. We've owned the license for a long time, and we are now bringing in the support, so we are not paying much for this.

Kaspersky and most other security products have a lot of modules. They recently added several new ones. You find yourself buying and deploying so many things. There are some modules that everyone uses, like, for example, the orchestration module. Instead of selling them separately, it would be better to have bundles or an all-in-one license. That would save the customers from having to do lots of implementations. As far as I know, they do not have a bundled license.

What other advice do I have?

I rate Kaspersky Endpoint Security seven out of 10. I think Kaspersky is one of the best products for small and medium-sized businesses. It doesn't need that much experience for implementation and support. I would suggest that new users be patient when they're tuning in the first implementation. They might find that the system uses a lot of resources and the machines become slow. But after spending some time tuning, the product will work fine.

An easy-to-install product that is available at a very low price
Pros and Cons
  • "The product's initial setup phase was easy."
  • "The GUI of the product is too basic, making it an area where improvements are required."

What is our primary use case?

I use the solution in my company for endpoints and for anti-malware purposes. I use the solution for the endpoints in our infrastructure, so it allows me to block USBs or any other incoming connections from unknown sources.

What is most valuable?

The tool is easy to use for me, especially if it is the on-premises version. The product is easy to install. The best thing about the solution stems from the fact that it is available at a very low price with a lot of features that can be modified to meet the users' requirements. The policies of the product are easy to use.

What needs improvement?

The product is hard to use on a cloud server. From an improvement perspective, the use of the product on a cloud server should be made better. The GUI of the product is too basic, making it an area where improvements are required.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Business for five to six years. I don't remember the version of the solution. My company has a partnership with Kaspersky.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The major problem I have with the product stems from the fact that it needs more RAM space. My company has to make more RAM space.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Around 2,000 people in my company use the product.

How are customer service and support?

I am very happy with the solution's technical support team.

How was the initial setup?

The product's initial setup phase was easy.

Users must install MySQL first, after which they can install Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Business, after which they can use a package installer from another client that automatically connects the tool on the server, making it an easy process.

The solution is deployed on an on-premises model.

The solution can be deployed in an hour or two.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The product is available at a low price.

What other advice do I have?

The integration of the tool with our company's existing IT infrastructure is good and helpful.

In my company, we have choices. If I want to use a cloud-based tool for endpoint security, we use Sophos. If I want an on-premises endpoint security product, I prefer Kaspersky.

If you want cheap endpoint security, especially on an on-premises server, I highly recommend Kaspersky since it is easy to use, install, and available at a low price.

I rate the overall tool a ten out of ten.

Goes beyond anti-malware and anti-spam but difficulty in achieving optimal performance due to configuration
Pros and Cons
  • "First of all, I like that it's perfect against malware threats and behavior analysis along with signature analysis. That's the key point for me."
  • "I might have the best product in the market. But if it's not properly configured, then I'm losing many of these features. I'm not getting the most out of them. And this is actually one of the biggest challenges that we're facing."

What is our primary use case?

Use cases really depend on how you configure it. It's an endpoint security solution that goes beyond anti-malware and anti-spam. It also includes network protection, vulnerability audits, and other features you might need.

What is most valuable?

First of all, I like that it's perfect against malware threats and behavior analysis along with signature analysis. That's the key point for me. Another thing I value is the alarm support with EDR active. It helps me root cause issues and detect suspicious behavior.

What needs improvement?

Most companies aren't familiar with Kaspersky's MDR offering. Everyone's talking about XDR and MDR solutions now, and Kaspersky mainly offers EDR. I believe they should consider more advanced solutions, especially for ransomware protection and similar critical threats. They might have these solutions, but our provider might not be giving us proper insights. Again, it's possible these features exist, but our reseller isn't making us aware.

In future releases, I would like to see a few things. First, I'd like a centralized view for managing security across a large organization with multiple offices.

Second, some built-in solutions can alert IT about suspicious behavior before any damage occurs, like applications sending unusual emails or data alerts.

I want to add that performance needs to be considered. Security doesn't require ongoing configuration. My crucial point is whether the solution, with my configuration from six months ago, still provides adequate security. In terms of support,  I was thinking of a managed security service provider because security isn't our primary business, and we lack the necessary skills to manage it ourselves. We rely on others to do it.

We lack the skills and need a third-party provider with expertise. So, we have a third party that can provide managed security services and keep me updated on the latest products and practices. I just need to be confident we're using the best available solution.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using this solution for more than five years now. I've experience with this product but with an advanced license.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is a stable solution. But there are better solutions, or perhaps upgrades might be better.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is a highly scalable solution. We are an enterprise business, so we have around a thousand end users.

How are customer service and support?

I receive support from our reseller at Kaspersky.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Neutral

How was the initial setup?

I would rate my experience with the initial setup a seven out of ten, with one being difficult and ten being easy.

What about the implementation team?

The deployment process needs an expert, so it takes hours to configure all the features properly. It's not a quick process.

What other advice do I have?

Overall, I would rate the solution a seven out of ten because, again, I might have the best product in the market. But if it's not properly configured, then I'm losing many of these features. I'm not getting the most out of them. And this is actually one of the biggest challenges that we're facing.

Good admin capabilities, helpful against zero-day attacks, and reliable
Pros and Cons
  • "The admin capabilities are great."
  • "The solution could use better reporting."

What is our primary use case?

We primarily use the solution as a traditional antivirus for signature-based activities such as malware or infections. It's for employing remediation and prevention detection.

What is most valuable?

The admin capabilities are great.

I have found the solution to be stable.

The product can scale as needed.

What needs improvement?

The solution could use better reporting. We'd like to have a bit more than just a dashboard and a few pie charts.

We're looking at EDRs, and MDRs, and SLRs and stuff like that. If they had integrations with something like a Dark Trace or more native integrations, either through an open API or something, that would probably be ideal for us in terms of the direction we're taking.

For how long have I used the solution?

It's an inherited system, so it's been here for more than four years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability is good enough. I haven't had issues with bugs or glitches. I can't recall it crashing or freezing. it's pretty reliable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution has the capability to scale if you need it to.

We have about 550 users on the product currently. It's used across most departments, except for a few.

How was the initial setup?

It was an inherited solution. It was already here when I became employed. Therefore, I can't speak to the implementation process.

What other advice do I have?

I'm just a customer and an end-user.

In terms of the versions we are using, on the administration side, it's Admin Security Center 13 and on the endpoint side, for the actual work stations and server, it's 11.6.

I would rate the solution at a seven out of ten. Like all endpoint antiviruses, it does a fair job on zero-day attacks. Obviously, with the next-day attacks, it's going to do more. That's where its strengths are.

I would advise new users to stick with the traditional approach of having a business case and a use case and then doing a proof of concept.

It provides high visibility into security risks and automatically addresses threats
Pros and Cons
  • "Kaspersky protects our company from ransomware attacks; we have multiple sites across the country, including the principal headquarters and different towns, and we can see any viruses that are in the network and take action."
  • "I've had some problems with the web interface. For example, when I was running a trace, it's difficult to find this function, but I can see it when I go on the server. So, if I want to implement the EDR functions on the web interface, it's very difficult because the command button or the link doesn't appear."

What is our primary use case?

Kaspersky Endpoint Security is used to protect from and respond to anything tentatively identified as a virus and ransomware.

How has it helped my organization?

Kaspersky protects our company from ransomware attacks. We have multiple sites across the country, including the principal headquarters and different towns. We can see any viruses that are in the network and take action.

What needs improvement?

I've had some problems with the web interface. For example, when I was running a trace, it's difficult to find this function, but I can see it when I go on the server. So, if I want to implement the EDR functions on the web interface, it's very difficult because the command button or the link doesn't appear.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using Endpoint Security for about two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Kaspersky is generally stable, but I run into problems when I schedule one hour of EDR on my network. The different machines on my network slowed down, so I reduced the scheduled EDR to one or two hours per day. After that, my PC was very fast.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I believe Kaspersky Endpoint Security is scalable. We currently have 600 users. We could possibly increase our usage if the number of users increases.

How are customer service and support?

Kaspersky's support is good. We haven't had any problems. When I had difficulties installing Kaspersky, support texted sent us a fix.

How was the initial setup?

Setting up Kaspersky was difficult. It took about three weeks to deploy because I have 600 PCs. I had a hard time installing the old version of Kaspersky on a PC. And there was a delay in connecting Kaspersky to the new server. We have a team of 10 IT people responsible for managing the solution.

What about the implementation team?

We had help from a reseller. The reseller helped a lot because my PC environment was old, so it was challenging to implement.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The cost of a Kaspersky enterprise license comes out to about $18,000 annually.

What other advice do I have?

I rate Kaspersky Endpoint Security eight out of 10. My advice to new Kaspersky users is to have a good PC and a solid network infrastructure. Also, when you have any issues, it's essential to resolve them quickly. I recommend Endpoint Security because it has been good to me. It automatically responds to viruses or ransomware activities, so I don't have to do anything. My biggest lesson from using Kaspersky is realizing the importance of antivirus software on our network.
