Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"I have found the most valuable aspect is the user-friendly environment and current features.""The solution can handle a large volume of data.""Essbase is extremely stable and low-maintenance.""It is highly efficient and easily scalable, particularly for handling large databases.""It is very fast compared to other normal databases, like SQL and MySQL.""Unlike relational, where you're linking together multiple tables, with Essbase, you basically define what the dimensions are beforehand, and you define the hierarchy, and then load the data. This allows you to do a pretty sophisticated analysis so that you can drill into it and slice and dice the data.""The solution is scalable.""It's a very powerful analytical engine with Essbase as the back end. We can analyze, transform, or utilize a big chunk of data for our calculations."

"Tableau CRM is a very capable solution. It is easy to use, user-friendly, and integrates well.""The out-of-the-box features are good for companies that want to try analytics and data science interventions.""The solution scales extremely well.""It is a comprehensive solution. It has everything in it. I can easily find what I need.""The most valuable feature of Salesforce Einstein Analytics is the reporting tools.""Einstein Analytics provides insights into what we are doing and how we are doing it. It tells us what benchmarks we need to hit consistently to achieve our goals. In sales, there is sometimes a disconnect between actions and objectives. We aren't necessarily going to close a deal because we call X number of people. There are some underlying skills that add nuance to these metrics.""he most valuable feature of the solution is its ease of use.""We have found the scalability to be very good."

More Salesforce Einstein Analytics Pros →

"Tableau is very good in the front-end visualization compared to Power BI.""The product offers an intuitive user interface, detailed screens and widgets, and the absence of data limitations""The feature that is currently most valuable is the import feature where I can link to an Excel data source. I'm not using it with any other data source, such as SQL Server. I directly link it to an Excel sheet, and if I change anything in that Excel sheet, the changed data immediately gets reflected in the virtualization. This is something that is very convenient for me as of now.""The solution is being delivered to our customer, who appreciates the insights generated from the reports. It is easy for them to drill into the details and use interactive charts.""It is a complete solution allowing a lot of integrations, different graphics, multiple operations and analyzes our date and gives us meaning from it.""Compared to other products, visualization features are really good.""The solution is configurable and flexible. We can customize the dashboards and configure the interface the way that we want. The data can be manipulated and arranged in different ways, such as columns.""It's the ease of use. It is also a self-service tool so it decreases the burden on having centralized IT-type teams or developers."

Cons
"There is room for improvement in terms of cost-effectiveness.""It's an expensive product to use.""Essbase has a programming language, and it has a couple of functions to do forecasting, however, their feature set for that is not that good.""The consolidation engine, which is HFM or FCCS, needs some room for improvement.""The ability to drive external reporting out for development could be improved.""They should improve the solution's performance.""I would like to see an integration with application performance management and a version control management tool.""The initial setup is pretty complex."

More Oracle Essbase Cons →

"They can provide more end-user customizations. There should be the possibility for the end-users to change some elements in the interface. I have a way of doing my job. My colleague may have his own way of doing his job. If I ask for a change, it'll change for everyone. It'll be good to have some end-user personalizations. I can't see many in Salesforce right now.""If a user leaves your organization, you shouldn't lose the visibility of all of the records.""I would advise others not to customize because they rolled out the newer versions, which are every six months. There had to be some significant testing and verification that happened. It is important to have a strong third-party provider that is very experienced. We used Deloitte, but we evaluated Accenture, KPMG, and IBM, but we decided on Deloitte and that was a good decision for us. Having a partner who has a center of excellence or experts that could give you a lot of the tips that they've learned could jumpstart your deployment and stick to the standards.""There are some offerings like Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, and Marketing Cloud that have very useful online learning options. There need to be more avenues for self-learning with this particular solution. That would be useful.""The product is natively integrated into the Salesforce ecosystem. You also need a CRM license. It should be more flexible with other platforms.""If I could improve Tableau CRM I would make it as powerful as Tableau. Tableau CRM is more integrated and it's on the web, but it has less functionality. It is lacking functionality at this time.""The tool needs to simplify its features.""The product is expensive."

More Salesforce Einstein Analytics Cons →

"The solution could improve the scalability, it is difficult to make changes.""It needs more ETL capabilities, to be able to address the end-to-end BI need.""It's already using 32 gigabytes of memory, but the performance is not so good. It's very heavy.""It should offer better features for customization.""If they could add global filters in the stories, more chart types, and default colours, it would help.""The pricing is high. I'm using a student license, however, I know that even this license is very expensive. I've tried to have this product in our organization, however, it's quite expensive. We don't have the internal budget.""I would like to have the product be more flexible in terms of creating online shared dashboards.""When it comes to large datasets, the data should be extracted faster."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "Essbase is competitively priced."
  • "I believe the licensing is on a monthly base."
  • "It is a costly solution."
  • "The solution is expensive."
  • More Oracle Essbase Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "Salesforce has a subscription-based licensing structure, where it's between $20 to $75 per month, per user."
  • "The biggest challenge we had was the cost and the licensing. We ended up getting an enterprise licensing agreement(ELA). That took a lot of negotiations and a lot of pressure. We were able to receive a good price for the community licensing they bundled Salesforce Einstein Analytics. They bundled a lot of capabilities with us with the ELA."
  • "Although it was deemed slightly expensive and failed the cost analysis we conducted in our company, we proceeded with the purchase because we desired to have a leading CRM system in the industry."
  • "Price-wise, Salesforce Einstein Analytics is an expensive tool."
  • "I rate the solution's pricing a seven out of ten."
  • "The solution is expensive."
  • "Salesforce Einstein Analytics can be considered somewhat expensive, depending on the company's needs. If they want the complete package with all the features, it's pricier. It all comes down to what the company requires from the platform."

  • "For big business, Tableau could be expensive as having a lot of Tableau server users (entering with a browser to reports) could be a bit expensive."
  • "Best advice on pricing is to anticipate the desire for more licenses once the results of this product are acknowledged in other parts of your company."
  • "Paying for users you never setup or buying expensive desktop licenses for users who can solve their users with web editing on the server are the two biggest expenses."
  • "Buy 50 at a time. Project your use base every three months, and project your requirements forward."
  • "Tableau can be costly (but this can be indefinable, such as user experience vs. cheaper etc.)"
  • "I wish there was more of a subscription model with the pricing when it comes to Tableau, so you can get all the latest version upgrades/features if you pay monthly/annually."
  • "The cost is high."
  • "Deployment of dashboards to viewers and unit supervisors can be prohibitively expensive."

After a recent presentation, several attendees asked me about the applications of Visual Insights and Tableau. Many companies are investing in both tools and are trying to figure out the right tool for specific applications Tableau has found its sweet-spot as an agile discovery tool that analysts use to create and share insights. It is also the tool of choice for rapid prototyping of dashboards. Tableau is very flexible with its data import. Tableau's data blending capability is very intuitive. This capability is useful when you have data spread across several different sources that has not gone through ETL processes. This is a problem analysts deal with routinely. They are unable to wait for the data warehouse team to develop ETL processes to provide the physical models they need to build an analysis. The Tableau interface is Excel-like and has a low barrier to entry for analysts that are used to working in Excel. Building a dashboard by mashing up visualizations in a Tableau worksheet is extremely simple. Users are able to build good presentation-quality dashboards in a very short amount time. Tableau's annotations capabilities and its time and geographical intelligence are key differentiators. Tableau has overcome limitations in data sharing with the introduction of a Data Server in Tableau 7.0. The Data server allows Data sources and extracts to be shared securely and opens up interesting new possibilities. If your application can take advantage of the above… Read more →
