We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"What's most valuable for me in ExtremeCloud IQ is easy management. It also has centralized administration, so you don't have to go to the customer site to program it. It can be programmed remotely.""It allows me to see APs and clients that are having issues, allowing for faster support response and less downtime.""What our customers like the most is that this device is so rugged. It has very good performance and throughput. Its console is very easy to use and has many features, which makes it different from its competitors. Cloud IQ has all the features built into the console, whereas other solutions require you to integrate multiple solutions with their consoles. You don't need to add anything extra with Cloud IQ. With this single solution, you can do almost everything.""It is more cost effective and gives more flexibility.""This solution's most valuable feature is its short deployment time.""The Client 360 feature provides a comprehensive view of your clients and their activities, including the devices they use. Additionally, a feature called Network 360 offers a 360-degree view of the network, like data usage (in GB), the status of ports and AP, and other details. You can drill down on granular-level drills to gain insights into specific applications and usage patterns like application level and fee, where your data is being wasted or what your clients are doing with the Internet data, what kind of applications they are using, etc.""What I like best about ExtremeCloud IQ is its ease of use. Flexibility is another pro of ExtremeCloud IQ. I also find ExtremeCloud IQ feature-rich.""It excels in Wi-Fi and switch management, as well as other internal management aspects, offering speed and efficiency that surpass what other competitors provide."

"Pushing the network configuration to bulk devices. This saves a considerable amount of time that the engineer spends in pushing the network configuration.""When compared with SolarWinds, it is more user-friendly, and tasks can be completed more quickly."

More OpenText Network Automation Pros →

"A good enterprise-level solution.""The platform has good stability.""Our monitoring and network teams of less than 100 people use this solution. The availability and fault monitoring are good.""Topology creation is the most valuable feature.""It's quite a mature solution.""It is stable for fault and availability.""Most valuable function would have to the internal causal engine and its root cause analyzer which keep us updated on critical errors and incidents in our network environment.""You can utilize the main file from various vendors for integration."

Cons
"I know a school district, a big school district of mine, ripped out Extreme due to inefficiencies. It was the guest network that can be a struggle. They tried to differentiate between their primary network, and then offer a secondary.""A mobile app would be awesome.""A room for improvement in ExtremeCloud IQ is roaming. My team is facing roaming issues with the solution, particularly when using VoIP over WiFi. For example, VoIP sometimes breaks when you walk around the customer site. In terms of what I'd like to see in the next release of the solution, right now, the inventory for ExtremeCloud IQ is awful. There's no stock, and you must wait a year and a half for new stocks. It's awful.""Having a wizard for customers who are just starting might be helpful.""An area for improvement in ExtremeCloud IQ is its technical support. Support could be better, especially when you need help concerning ExtremeCloud IQ and WinG.""Their firewall configuration gets funky and it can be difficult to understand.""We have had some mediocre to poor experiences with tech support: Conflicting information, condescending attitudes, and reluctance to work to resolve an issue.""I would like to see a remote phone application for monitoring APs when on the road."

More ExtremeCloud IQ Cons →

"Compatibility of the devices needs to be enhanced, as it seems to be limited.""Level one administration task can be defined in Micro Focus Network Automation but it could be more simplified."

More OpenText Network Automation Cons →

"The way the solution currently works means I'm not able to customize my own reports.""The dashboards are not customizable and it's not user-friendly.""The solution should integrate with NAC servers.""Micro Focus Network Node Manager is not powered to drill down for traffic visibility.""The resources utilized could be a bit higher, and that is one of the challenges that isn't optimized""Right now, we have open tickets and they are not closing as expected.""They should add AI options in the product's next release.""The deployment architecture and installation part needs improvement."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "Although the pricing is a bit high, I consider Aerohive to be well worth the money."
  • "Buy near the end of Q4 in order to get a deal."
  • "Bring the cost down."
  • "I would advise that you be sure to compare apples with apples. Many customers just look at the price per AP and licences, and compare that against other solutions. But, they do not look at the complete picture such as: TCO - how much the equipment will cost you over, say, seven years? Will the customer need to change complete infrastructure when they want to buy the newest hardware? Does support include a lifetime warranty and RMA?"
  • "For example, if you compare Aruba vs Aerohive, you need to check which licences from Aruba you need to match the functionality of Aerohive (usually you need at least three types of licences and a controller with redundancy). The same goes with Cisco, where you need buy additional licences for central management, firewall, spectral analysis, WIPS, PPSK, etc. Aerohive has a very simple model - one licence for all the functionalities - and you can believe that there are many. One licence makes it easy to maintain, scale, renew and you can plan your costs 10 years in advance."
  • "Start small and grow big. You can choose the basic Aerohive Connect free subscription solution and, later, if needed (in terms of functionality) you can upgrade to Aerohive Select."
  • "There are probably cheaper solutions but we invest for stability and performance for the longer haul."
  • "I did a multi-year license. It was a three-year license. It compares well with others in terms of the price. It is about a hundred dollars per year on a three-year scale."

  • "Pricing is reasonable, but if you compare it with other network Operation Management tools that are available on the market, it's expensive."
