Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The main feature of Eggplant Test is that it can do fully automated web testing and app testing.""Its scalability is good. It is useful for desktop applications, and it also uses OCR and does image recognition.""The most valuable feature is the ability to create code from a flow chart, and then run the code through it.""GUI testing is the strength of the tool. The tool works as expected, and the support response from eggPlant, as a company, has been quick and substantial.""Everything is happening on the layout or display that is used by the user. Eggplant prompts processes, like 'click here,' or 'look for this image.' Eggplant makes it possible for QA people and BAs, working in the actual display, to check if the software is providing the right images, the right text, and the right results. They don't have to go inside the code or to the TCP/IP layer. Everything is happening at the highest level.""The solution is based on a Windows model, where adding users is just a few clicks. It is easy to manage users and add them.""We did see a massive return on investment from using Eggplant.""DAI's newest release allows us to test via scripts rather than models, because we have done 95 percent of our development in functional, not through modeling. I am really happy that then we can use the controller to run scripts rather than having to translate things to models. There are lots of options."

"Using this solution has made things more convenient. Earlier, we had to depend a lot more on IT to find and resolve our issues.""Asset management is the most valuable feature and integral for device inventory.""The solution is easy to implement.""The ability to send an iPad out to someone and have them auto-provision it when they are out in the field is fantastic. We don't have to have it all configured before we ship it. This is probably the biggest value add.""MaaS can force people to lock their phones. Not everyone likes having a PIN and other security features on their phones, but this sets a requirement that you can't get your emails unless you have a PIN on your phone. That was a good feature, and we were able to easily increase the PIN from four digits to six digits. Overall, it was pretty user-friendly.""Maas360 uses distribution groups to deploy apps, which makes it a bit easier than, for example, Intune.""We introduced the product as part of the SOC-2 requirement. The tool's most valuable features include keeping the operating system updated, tracking software inventory, controlling computer administrators, and the ability to wipe a computer in case of a security threat. It helps us to be compliant, and it is one of the reasons we implemented it.""Mobile Device Configuration with policy applying: This significantly reduces time of device configuration."

Cons
"They need to update the Linux. I think it's kind of an outdated Java Swing application.""It has low productivity.""In terms of additional features, it would be helpful to have one package for all testing. You have the manager, the AI, then you have functional, and about 10 different packages for installing.""Eggplant Test should emphasize on improving its offering in non-Windows environments.""The reporting function is a bit shallow. The solution does not offer very comprehensive reporting in terms of your test results. The reporting time and the logs are very high level as well. These areas need improvement.""There was no free trial in it.""The IDE could be even more full-featured. Because I was a developer, I was very spoiled by either Visual Studio Code or Visual Studio for shortcuts. For example, I was able to say "ctor" and hit Tab and it would create a template of a constructor for me... It would be great, when I want to create a new function, if there were shortcut commands like those that helped create all of the functions, or if there were shortcut features to do any of the complex plans.""We found that we had issues regarding the VPN setup, which is one of the reasons that we did not purchase this solution."

More Eggplant Test Cons →

"Sometimes IBM MaaS360 seems buggy...The solution's technical support team is sometimes slow to respond and not competent enough.""Configuring policies is difficult in IBM MaaS360. It also needs to improve usability.""Its integration with Microsoft Teams could be better.""IBM MaaS360 can improve the location reporter. There is a 15-minute delay and this does not allow for any usefulness.""They should allow for the building of custom reports with graphics.""The user interface could definitely use some improvement.""It's difficult for someone like me to set up a phone that doesn't require a SIM card, like Apple's new phones.""The look needs to be updated and it could be simpler to use."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "It is scalable, but it is a matter of money in the pocket. You can scale it, but then you have to have additional licenses. The licensing approach of eggPlant is not the best."
  • "Make a smart decision about the number of developer- and execution-only licenses you purchase to maximize your budget. We found that going heavier on execution-only licenses has been a way to reduce our costs and maximize our ability to benefit from the software."
  • "End-to-end testing isn't possible for us because of the licensing problems. It's very expensive, so we only have two development/execution licenses."
  • "It probably has a yearly license."
  • "This solution is expensive when compared to the market. However, the reason it is more expensive is because of its stability, high performance, and for its support of any technology."
  • "Eggplant Test is a very expensive solution."

  • "It requires zero investment in infrastructure since it is 100% cloud."
  • "Fees are monthly and it's approximately $8 per user."
  • "Price is something for which we are always under pressure. If we have to look at the MaaS deployment, the price definitely has to come down. This is clearly one of the areas that we will have to work on, not only as a provider to our customers but also as a consumer of this service."
  • "I feel the pricing to be very high."
  • "MaaS360 is priced at a balance. It is not as expensive as AirWatch or Jamf and is not a cheap solution like a few of the local products."
  • "The licensing structure is broken down into levels, each with different functionalities available. Depending on your license, there may be additional fees for extra features."
  • "There are other solutions cheaper than IBM MaaS360, such as Microsoft Intune."
  • "The solution is expensive."
