We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Essentially, you can do whatever you like with these systems, and you do not have to take care about the scaling because if one server is overloaded, it just forwards the message to the next server, even if it were designated to a specific server. It weeds out the messages according to the load. If you want to scale it, you just add new servers.""The tool's most valuable feature is its integration with the banks. Its messaging and routing capabilities are good.""Compared to the current solutions I use, like Azure Logic Apps and other cloud services, BizTalk was far better and more reliable.""BIzTalk's integration with Visual Studio is the most valuable feature of this product.""The most valuable feature of BizTalk Server is that it will turn XML into flexible transactions.""We can handle a large number of messages without any issues, ensuring that everything runs smoothly.""I rate the tool's stability a nine out of ten.""The most valuable feature is its reliability and stability. The first version of BizTalk was released in 2000, and many companies still use it. It was stable until 2013 when we had support."

"We use it for specific cases, mainly secure file transfers, which are vital for us. And it works for us.""This product is quite easy to install, learn, and use, with our new employees being able to start using it in projects for clients after only two weeks of internal training.""I find it very user-friendly. Our IT department and other departments can seamlessly collaborate without requiring extensive training. As a business department, we particularly value this aspect, as our team doesn't consist of many IT users. However, we couldn't solely rely on a drag-and-drop approach to implement and utilize the solution within our departments.""The ability to connect to websites and pull data is the solution's most valuable feature.""Fortra's Automate performs the job effectively and has the capability to alert us of any issues.""The most valuable features for my client are timing and scheduling.""The interface is simple, user-friendly, and very intuitive.""A great feature that you seldom see in these kind of systems is the ability to use a database as trigger to launch a task. This is something I asked for a few years ago and that was added."

Cons
"BizTalk is in the past, Microsoft is not going to evolve it any further or add any new features.""BizTalk Server is an outdated legacy system that does not support messaging.""It's a complex product because you have many degrees of freedom to connect different parts together. Whether it's sensible or not, is up to you, but the machine does allow it. But because of the vast degrees of freedom, it's complex.""It's an on-premises system, requiring physical servers for deployment. This is different from Azure; you don't need any servers with Azure. If you have a subscription, you can do whatever you want. There are unit restrictions based on the environment (like non-production vs. production) in BizTalk. You need physical servers and databases. In Azure, those are not required – it's all in the cloud.""The product's deployment can be quicker""The product could be improved in monitoring, managing, and support functionalities.""BizTalk lacks native cloud support. BizTalk doesn't offer in-built support for cloud. We need to use third-party adapters to connect it to cloud services.""The deployment could be simplified."

More BizTalk Server Cons →

"Some companies have asked for voice integration. This is likely part of the roadmap.""While this solution is continually improving, as it is now, the user interface could use improvement when I compare it to a product like UiPath.""I would like to see some better web automation, a wizard like the one in the product WinAutomation would be very nice.""The documentation for errors needs improvement as many of the error messages we receive are very vague.""It's possible that they could use a stronger community for seeking guidance and help.""The solution has a very weak knowledge base.""They do not encrypt passwords, so this is an issue with HIPAA compliance.""The OCR for Hebrew text needs to be improved."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "The cost will depend on the client's requirements."
  • "BizTalk Server is cheap. I would rate its pricing a two out of five."
  • "Based on the knowledge, it is relatively cheaper than Azure Identity Services and cloud services in general."
  • "It was not cheap, but it was affordable."
  • "BizTalk Server is not freeware. There's a significant licensing cost involved. Be sure you will actually utilize its features fully."

  • "Compared to other products, the pricing model for this solution is much more convenient, flexible, and adaptable to the Portuguese reality."
  • "I like the way this solution is priced because you can buy a license, or you can buy the software outright."
  • "It comes with a package that costs approximately $20,000 USD per year."
  • "While solutions like UiPath and Blue Prism cost around $11,000-$12,000 for each license, this product costs around $7,000 and you can keep it forever."
  • "I'm only involved in running the product and maintaining the systems, so I can't speak to the cost."
  • "The pricing is quite reasonable. We can run the process with one bot. The limitation is at the server level because they have some resources, and sometimes that is enough. It isn't too expensive, so you can get a good return off of one, and you can also have a pack of five bots that is quite competitive."
  • "From a distributor's perspective, one of the biggest selling points of Automate is its price point."
  • "The cost is a bit high for a small business like ours, but we manage with Fortra's Automate."
