We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The open-source nature is one of its most significant advantages.""The solution offers good security.""The control panel is very easy to navigate. It's similar to most hosting platforms, so it's user-friendly. Once you get used to it, managing your hosting becomes easy, too.""It is more secure to use Apache and you will have fewer problems than other web services.""Apache Web Server is free of cost.""The best thing about Apache is that it is open-source, so implementing my platform on-premises is less expansive than other solutions.""It's very stable, and it hosts one of the biggest of many biggest web applications in the world.""The solution's most valuable feature is reporting."

"The solution has helped us automate business processes.""Agility is the key. It gives our customers a faster way to be able to implement processes, get ownership of task, visibility into a process. The ability to modify that process, optimize that process over time, is probably the biggest benefit that they get from the software.""I like the APIs and the BPM coach is a good tool. But if I had to pick one, it would be the API.""Its dashboard is easy to use and very good. It allows us to customize.""There are a lot of things that you get out-of-the-box: Timers and so on, which took a lot of effort and code before.""It is transparent to business users because it is mostly picture based modelling.""Stability-wise, I rate the solution a ten out of ten.""The possibility to add Java code as embedded .jar, that increases the flexibility of the solution."

More IBM BPM Pros →

"The program is scalable.""WebLogic Suite is scalable.""The transaction handling of WebLogic and the way it is designed is excellent.""It easily connects to other Oracle products and services.""The solution is very scalable. It's easy to add processes even if you are new to the solution.""Scalability on the solution is great. It's very very easy to scale.""Robust solution; console and enterprise management tools are really easy to work.""The most valuable feature is that it provides one place where you can control all of the services."

Cons
"There is a security-related problem that depends on the web server's configuration.""Things change very fast. We're always on the lookout for better approaches and tools. If the solution falls behind, we may have to switch.""For NGINX, I think it has NGINX Management Suite, which is GUI-based and allows you to manage your configuration via the user interface, but Apache fails to offer such capabilities to users.""So far, for us, everything is okay.""By optimizing the infrastructure to allow the webserver to directly handle queries from memory—particularly by prioritizing the storage of queries in memory and processing them through the web server interface—I could potentially cut down the required instances from five hundred to two hundred.""In future releases, I would like to see better server optimization.""The interface has room for improvement.""The GUI for the less experienced users needs some improvement. For some companies, it is hard to configure it if they have not had any experience."

More Apache Web Server Cons →

"The solution can improve integration with SAP, CRM, and Salesforce, which is not capital-intensive.""It can definitely be improved in terms of performance and stability.""I have an interest around the robotic piece, and integrating that with the processes. I think that is certainly a good direction to be going.""User Interface components could be further refined to enhance and extend customizations dictated by end clients.""I'm hearing things might be improving, to really deliver on BPM as opposed to simply workflow. That really should be emphasized a lot more than it has been, because a lot of customers will simply implement the process and leave it there, because the product maybe doesn't emphasize BPM as much as it should, as much as maybe they talk about it in the sales process. The whole idea of BPM, is to iteratively improve the process, and in order to do that you have to have the analytics tool with it. A lot of times that doesn't go as far as it should simply because there's a lot more work to be done for that to happen, and just some sort of technical limitations that don't make that as easy as it should be.""The price and the overall installation process could be improved.""We care about technology and support because support is very important and a BPM is not easy to implement.""It's a bit technical, related to the instance of migrations. It's a tough thing to handle, in every new release, in every upgrade, that we have to do things in the applications or in the product. I think IBM is working on it but I know there are a lot of requests coming in from different organizations on this."

More IBM BPM Cons →

"The solution needs to share more information in terms of training. There needs to be more documentation involved to help those who are completely new to the product.""The support is not good.""Support could be better. The expertise when we have some Oracle WebLogic issues and challenges is not there. The issues are not being addressed in time. This really needs to be improved going forward.""The content search is not easy.""This solution would benefit from the inclusion of a ripple start function for clusters.""I think the support could be much better.""Sometimes there are issues when we work on a VM because people use it to put all of their reports on it at the same time. Then I have to restart and rebuild the machine.""The licensing for the solution is pretty expensive. It may be the most expensive solution, if you were to compare it to the competition."

    Overview

The Apache HTTP Server Project was founded in 1995 by a group of webmasters, known as The Apache Group, with the aim of developing robust, richly-featured, freely-available and commercial-standard Web (HTTP) server source code. The result was Apache Web Server or Apache HTTP Server, which is an open-source public-domain web server.

This collaborative project has been enhanced ever since with contributions from the core development team and other volunteers situated all over the globe. Also, hundreds of users of this open-source web server have contributed code, ideas, and documentation. The project falls under The Apache Software Foundation, which manages many open-source projects.

IBM BPM is a business process management tool that provides a robust set of tools to author, test, and deploy business processes, as well as full visibility and insight to managing those business processes. The solution provides tooling and run time for process design, execution, monitoring, and optimization, along with basic system integration support. To support various levels of complexity and involvement with business process management, there are two different editions of the product: IBM BPM and IBM BPM Express.

    IBM BPM Features

IBM BPM has many valuable key features. Some of the most useful ones include:

    • Process designer authoring tool
    • Collaborative editing and immediate playback of processes
    • Interactive user interfaces
    • Process rules based on IBM Operational Decision Manager
    • IBM Integration Designer (BPEL and SOA)
    • Designing and building case management systems
    • Process portal
    • Real-time monitoring and reporting
    • Performance analytics and optimizer
    • Performance data warehouse
    • IBM Process Center with a shared asset repository
    • IBM Process Federation Server
    • Built-in enterprise service bus (ESB)
    • Transaction support
    • Integration adapters
    • Network deployment support
    • High availability: clustering and unlimited cores

    IBM BPM Benefits

There are many benefits to implementing IBM BPM. Some of the biggest advantages the solution offers include:

    • Increased efficiency and cost savings: IBM BPM can help you optimize existing processes and incorporate more structure into the development of new processes by removing process redundancies and bottlenecks.
    • More scalable processes: The solution enables better process execution and workflow automation, which transfers well when scaling processes.
    • Greater transparency: Because IBM BPM’s process automation clearly defines owners for tasks along the process, it provides more transparency and accountability throughout a given process. In turn, this fosters more communication among teams.
    • Less dependency on development teams: IBM BPM offers low-code features which remove potential dependencies on development. Business users can be onboarded onto these tools quickly and easily, thereby increasing process automation across the company.

    Reviews from Real Users

IBM BPM is a solution that stands out when compared to many of its competitors. Some of its major advantages are that it’s good for developing complex apps, is robust, and has helpful team management and process performance features.

Zoran C., Owner/CEO at IT SPHERE, says, “It is perfect if you have to develop complex apps without much coding (only java script). It is also good if you don't have much IT resources in your company and would like to involve business analysts in the process of developing apps. My opinion is that it can do about 50% of all developers' work.”

Suhas V., BPM Architect at GBM, mentions, “Overall the solution is robust and has the ability to integrate with any product for complex workflows."

A BPM Consultant at a financial services firm comments, "Some of the features that I like the most are team management and process performance. They are both very useful and very powerful with regard to the workflow."

A Digital Banking & Innovation Director at a financial services firm expresses, “The processing functionality makes it easy to change processes and workflows easily.”
