Amazon S3 Glacier offers robust security features and practically infinite storage, where we can store all kinds of media swiftly. It supports various data types, including semi-structured and raw formats. These features facilitate log management and data dumping since the service is versatile enough to handle large volumes of data and provide necessary security.

The value of Amazon S3 Glacier for us is the lower cost.

We put files there and tend not to touch them afterward. We use KMS keys to encrypt data, which is our fundamental and only encryption method for files with Amazon S3 Glacier.

KMS helps secure our data effectively. I cannot speak to how the integration of Amazon S3 Glacier with AWS Lambda or Amazon EventBridge impacts our workflows as I am not aware of these integrations.

The most valuable feature of Glacier is its storage capability and cost benefit. The storage cost is minimal compared to S3 hot storage, making it ideal for historical data. Although retrieval costs are high, Glacier greatly helps in managing storage costs by moving historical data to a lower-cost storage option.

The cost is high, which I think is one of the best features of the product.

Scalability is one of the advantages, and it is very highly available.

The security features include object lock encryption and immutability options, so we can use this for backups.

The initial setup of the product is straightforward and easy.

I like creating buckets where data can be segregated at a high level and then routing the appropriate data to each designated bucket. In terms of value, I would say that the tool gets the job done in a simpler manner.

Our source metadata used for analytics and data lake was kept on Amazon S3 Glacier. Amazon S3 Glacier is a very cheap storage, where we store infrequently used data. If we have a large amount of data that many people are not accessing, we keep it in Amazon S3 Glacier to save the cost.

The biggest advantage of the product is that AWS always copies the tool internally. So, we have two or three copies of our data. We’re pretty sure that once it's uploaded, it's available. We can move it to less expensive storage if we don't use it. The way of working is very intelligent. It's very useful.

It's up to us to decide how many copies we need and how frequently we want to make copies. Whether we want a fast or slow disk, cheap or expensive, it’s up to us as architects. We have a lot of choices. It's a product that has been working for a very long time. Most remarks from customers have been dealt with. Everything a customer could want is available.

There's no storage limit, and the price is excellent.

The product automatically replicates objects from a S3 bucket in one region to another bucket in a different region. If an object or bucket is accidentally deleted in one region, the replicated copy in the other region remains intact, helping to prevent data loss.

We get free credits from Amazon, and we like the overall stability. We haven't had to rely heavily on their customer success teams, which is a good sign.

With hyperscalers like Amazon, things are generally pretty smooth. As long as the product is stable, billing is clear, and we don't have issues, we're happy.

I like the price. If you compare Glacier to others, the prices in terms of what you store beyond retention are much lower. You would pay a lot more money to archive it online or on-premise storage because Glacier has been designed to keep content for longer retention. It will cost a lot of money if you keep it in online storage in your data center.

The solution is great for storing data you don't usually need access to. It's also well-integrated with Amazon S3.

You store data in S3 and you create a policy that if this data is not accessed very frequently or if the data is not used, it will move that data from high storage to low storage. Cost-wise, it means great savings. If I'm paying $10 in internal storage, it will move to Glacier where I only pay less than a cent. You can push the data which you need, say once every two months or once every three months. That's the kind of data you can push into Glacier, not the data which you use every day or twice in a week.
