Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"It is easy to automate and new personnel can start learning automation using UFT One. You don't have to learn any scripting.""Compared to other products, UFT One is better, faster, and more accurate.""Hidden among the kitchen sink of features is a new Data Generation tool called the Test Combinations Generator.""The inside object repository is nice. We can use that and learn it through the ALM connection. That's a good feature. The reporting and smart identification features are also excellent.""It's easy to use for beginners and non-technical people.""Being able to automate different applications makes day-to-day activities a lot easier.""For traditional automation, approximately half of our tests end up automated. Therefore, we are saving half the testing time by pushing it off to automation. That gives it an intrinsic benefit of more time for manual testers and business testers to work on possibly more important and interesting things. For some of our applications, they don't just have to do happy path testing anymore, they can go more in-depth and breadth into the process.""UFT is very strongly built. It's widely used, so there's a lot of support."

"Technical support is helpful.""Parasoft SOAtest has improved the quality of our automated web services, which can be easily implemented through service chaining and service virtualization.""Automatic testing is the most valuable feature.""Since the solution has both command line and automation options, it generates good reports.""We do a lot of web services testing and REST services testing. That is the focus of this product.""The testing time is shortened because we generate test data automatically with SOAtest.""Good write and read files which save execution inputs and outputs and can be stored locally.""We have seen a return on investment."

More Parasoft SOAtest Pros →

"Data security was prime for us. Being able to download and run tests on our local machines was a big plus. The flexibility Ranorex offers in terms of customization is outstanding.""The most valuable feature of Ranorex Studio is its user-friendly interface.""The scalability is very good. It's probably one of the better tools I've seen on the market.""Support is very quick. You can write to them and on the same day, they will respond. This is one of the best features.""The solution is fast and includes built-in libraries that record and playback.""Object identification is good.""Code Conversion is one of the great features because sometimes, the automation tool doesn't have the capability of maneuvering around two specific evaluations.""I like the recording function and Ranorex Spy."

Cons
"One thing that confused me, and now just mildly irritates me, is that we migrated from QuickTest Pro to HP UFT, Unified Functional Test. After we did the migration, it turned out that we didn't really have Unified Functional Test at all.""One area for improvement is its occasional slowness.""Sometimes UFT can take a while to open and sometimes will run slower than expected.""The speed could be improved because a large test suite takes some time to execute.""We'd like it to have less scripting.""They need to reduce the cost because it is pretty high. It's approximately $3,000 per user.""The scripting language could be improved. They're currently using Visual Basic, but I think that people need something more advanced, like Python or Java.""I am not sure if they have a vision of how they want to position the leads in the market, because if you look at Tosca, Tosca is one of the automation tools that have a strategy, and it recently updated its strategy with SAP. They are positioning them as a type of continuous testing automation tool. And if you notice Worksoft, particularly the one tool for your enterprise application, your Worksoft is positioning. I am not sure if Micro Focus UFT has a solid strategy in place. They must differentiate themselves so that people recognize Micro Focus UFT for that reason."

More OpenText UFT One Cons →

"The summary reports could be improved.""Compatibility with HTTP 1.1 and TLS 1.2 needs to be improved.""Reporting facilities can be better.""The performance could be a bit better.""Reports could be customized and more descriptive according to the user's or company's requirements.""During the process of working with SOAtest and building test cases, the .TST files will grow. A negative side effect is that saving your changes takes more time.""Parasoft SOAtest has an internal refresh function where you can refresh the software to show the changes you’ve made in your projects. Unfortunately this function does not work properly, because it often does not show the changes after you’ve hit te refresh button a few times.""Enabling/disabling an optional element of an XML request is only possible if a data source (e.g., Excel sheet) is connected to the test. Otherwise, the option is not available at all in the drop-down menu."

More Parasoft SOAtest Cons →

"I'd like to know their testing strategies and to know what they can automate and what they can't. It can become pretty frustrating if you're trying to automate something that changes on a monthly or weekly basis.""There were a lot of issues we faced. One notable improvement would be better API integration within the tool itself, as we still rely on external tools like Postman.""The solution does not support dual or regression testing.""If there are many queries on the web page, Ranorex will not render the page correctly. I had about 1,000 queries on the page, and the solution was not able to handle it.""One of the areas the service could be improved would be to have the training in Italian.""The solution's technical support team could be responsive.""I would like to be able to customize the data grids. They are currently written in Visual Basic and we are unable to get down to the cell level without hard-code.""Part of the challenge is that Ranorex's support is over in Europe, so we can't get responses on the same day. If we had support in the United States that was a bit more timely, that would be helpful."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "It took about five years to break even. UFT is costly."
  • "The licensing and pricing model is confusing."
  • "It's an expensive solution."
  • "For the price of five automation licenses, you simply would not be able to hire five manual testers for two years worth of 24/7 manual testing work on demand."
  • "The price is only $3,000. I don't know how many QA analysts you would have in any given company. Probably no more than five or 10. So if it's a large corporation, it can easily afford $15,000 to $25,000. I don't see that being an issue."
  • "The way the pricing model works is that you pay a whole boatload year one. Then, every year after, it is around half or less. Because instead of paying for the new product, you are just paying for the support and maintenance of it. That is probably one of the biggest things that I hear from most people, even at conferences, "Yeah, I would love to use UFT One, but we don't have a budget for it.""
  • "The pricing fee is good. If someone makes use of the solution once a day for a half hour then the fee will be more expensive. For continuous use and application of the solution to different use cases, the fee is average."
  • "The price is one aspect that could be improved."

  • "From what I understand, Parasoft SOAtest isn't the cheapest option. But it has a lot to offer."
  • "The cost of Parasoft seems to have gotten higher with a projection that wasn't really stipulated for our company. They've done a tremendous job at negotiating those deals."
  • "I think it would be a great step to decrease the price of the licenses."
  • "It is an expensive product, so think carefully about whether it fits your purposes and is the right tool for you."
  • "We are completed satisfied with Parasoft SOAtest. The ROI is more than 95%."
  • "The license price is a little expensive, but it provides a better outcome in terms of the end-to-end automation process."
  • "They do have a confusing licensing structure."
  • "The price is around $5,000 USD."
  • More Parasoft SOAtest Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "We paid €3,000 (approximately $3,300 USD) for this solution. When you add the runtime licenses it will be €3,500 (approximately $3,900 USD)."
  • "The licensing fees depend on the number of users."
  • "There are several types of licenses and you need to choose depending on your needs and level of usage."
  • "Licensing fees are paid on a yearly basis."
  • "Our company has one license per user with each costing two lakh rupees."
  • "This solution is a more expensive solution compared to some of the other competitors."
