We performed a comparison between Commvault Cloud, kCura Relativity, and Nuix eDiscovery based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out what your peers are saying about Google, Commvault, Microsoft and others in eDiscovery."The backup and restore capabilities are key. The most useful things to us about Commvault, in general, is the breadth of the applications that it can protect as well as the features inside of it, like deduplication and encryption. When people get their data encrypted, Commvault has a way to tell if somebody is being attacked through a cybersecurity threat because their data changes. So, Commvault has what they call honeypot files out there to look to see if anybody is changing these files. Only Commvault knows which files those are, so nobody should be messing with those files. If it changes, then it will alert you to say, "Oh, I potentially have somebody messing with my files." It will alert you to something going on in your environment that probably shouldn't be happening. We deploy that with all our customers so they have this capability as well."
"The ability to manage everything from a single pane of glass is another major advantage."
"There are many valuable features of Commvault HyperScale X giving many possibilities to complete jobs."
"This solution gives me the full insight without having to use other products, metrics, or reporting tools."
"A very stable and scalable platform (you can backup/restore/protect a couple of MBs or hundred of TBs as well from the same console/platform)."
"Whoever has an Endpoint license can store unlimited data on the cloud."
"It's great for getting data back."
"Commvault gives us a single platform to manage and recover our data. Since we are a research organization, backup is one of the most critical parts of our IT operations and services. Internally, we run it as a managed service, and there is a single console that makes it easy for management to see the performance."
"I like Relativity's blackout feature, as well as the Case Dynamics function."
"There are a lot of ways to QC your work and save your searches, and we had really good case support from the Relativity team."
"The ease of navigation from dock to dock, and that kind of usability, is quite helpful."
"kCura Relativity is easy to use, and it is reliable."
"Caplets are a very good technical feature."
"In my industry, it is important to use this solution because it can handle a large pipeline."
"One issue we face is the complexity of the console. That could be improved on. It takes users time to get familiar with Commvault. On average, it takes our customers between one and three months to learn it. The console and the way you configure Commvault have very advanced settings. It takes time to understand how it works."
"Improved documentation and user training resources could contribute to a smoother onboarding process and more effective utilization of the platform's capabilities."
"Commvault could make the product more cost-effective on the public cloud side. We are using this solution to back up whatever is still on-prem. We are not using it to back up what is on the public cloud because we have a native backup solution for that, which is provided by the vendor. As our footprint gets bigger, we will continue to evaluate this, but the last time that we did a cost analysis, the cost was not comparable to the solution that public clouds are offering."
"Commvault likes to be ahead of the game when it comes to merging with other platforms, but sometimes it's before they have the solution truly baked in. Office 365 is an example. I feel that my company might be a litmus test for their solution, because we have such a large environment. Some of the promised solutions that we received from Commvault were more like testing solutions. They weren't really validated, meaning they were possibilities. There have been a lot of hot fixes for the solution that we're using right now, more than we expected."
"Commvault has two management dashboards. The first is the CommCell Console, which is Java-based, and the second is Command Center. We don't always find all the features we need in the Command Center and we need to go through the Java console, and sometimes features are only on the Java console."
"I would like to see a more user-friendly GUI."
"In an upcoming release, the reports could be better."
"It is a little more complicated than it really needs to be."
"They require more built-in support for some third-party applications."
"There are a lot of bugs on the development side."
"The price per user could be improved. We'd like for it to be more affordable."
"What I dislike about Relativity is that we have to go through the host in order to do productions and loads. It is not a do-it-yourself tool."
"I would definitely not recommended it unless you have someone who has had experience with it and knows how to work the program."
"My past experience with the Nuix eDiscovery platform showed it was clunky when reviewing individual files and viewing folder structures. I wondered why we had to process in Nuix eDiscovery and then transfer to another review platform, this was a waste of time. I wish Nuix eDiscovery would have a comprehensive review platform in-house. I heard they have improved in this area, but our firm hasn't invested in it. Integrating the processing and review would make for a fantastic solution."
