Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"It has a good set of visual elements that you can use and can explain quite well.""It is very easy to use. It has got what they call a toolkit, which is a no-code development environment. You can develop a whole solution with it because it is a complete platform. There is a lot of online material that can be used as a reference. You can help yourself while developing a solution. There are some prebuilt applications in the platform environment. You can very easily customize and integrate these applications. It also has flexible scaling of machine resources, which is really great.""Primary valuable features are its flexibility and versatility and, obviously, functionality goes along with that. Plus, it does that at a small footprint in the file servers, and does it very efficiently.""I think it's flexible. I chose this solution because, even though it wasn't out-of-the-box, you can customize it, and the long-term growth potential of the software is where I see the value.""Now, we have only one version of the truth.""The dynamic selections on the screen and details by function are also valuable for inside the data view.""It is useful for self-analysis regarding company data and helps to find areas where we can improve.""The drill down is good for people who have that high level view, because they can do some analysis based on it."

"We can centralize all our data models.""It's quite effortless to navigate through various applications and review their updated data in real-time.""The product is easy to use.""The stability of Looker has been good since I have been using it. However, it depends on what components are being used.""Looker allows you to generate the most optimal SQL queries in a DC through UI actions. We had signed a contract with Google Cloud to use BigQuery. That was the primary reason we adopted Looker. It works better with BigQuery than any other BI platform. We also like how this tool was developed. It was designed with an eye toward microservices architecture.""From a developer's perspective, the way the functionality's being handled is great.""It is a pretty stable solution because it is a cloud-based product.""I would rate the stability a ten out of ten. I didn't face any issues with stability."

Cons
"Some of our users are still using an MS Office add-in for Excel for certain calculations, and when they export from Board, some of the values, some of the totals and column names, are not coming through into Excel.""I would like to see better relationships with the partners.""It can have more functionality for narrative reporting. They should also improve their training courses, which are currently very lightweight. When you get into more complex things, it is quite difficult to figure out what you're supposed to do, and you have to look at a lot of videos before you actually understand, which is a bit frustrating. Their training can be more comprehensive.""It would be nice to have more connectors for other data sources. BOARD is a great tool to become the single source of the truth. Making it easier to connect data sources for niche software tools will make it easier to keep everything in one place.""The setup was a bit complex.""It would be nice to be able to host your site and actually have BOARD be the driver of your site. So you could have anybody in your organization go to www.myorg.com, for example, and then go through what you allow them to go through. So rather than having to go through the application, to be able to go to actually host it to a website.""The one thing that I think we would like to see in terms of improvement of the application is the ability to print. It's fantastic to have all of these graphic visualization of data, but we're not able to very easily just print... From my perspective, if you can have a little "print" button and then you just click it and it would produce what's on the screen, that would be very helpful.""The product can be improved by making it possible to know where cubes are used."

More Board Cons →

"The integration with different databases must be improved.""It needs to be more user-friendly.""Integrations with other BI tools could be better.""The main area of concern in Looker is probably related to blending the data from the different sources, including the data present internally in the company and on the cloud.""Looker doesn't connect to Excel, which is a huge disappointment because a lot of data is presented in Excel. Also, it can't consume data directly from REST APIs, which is necessary. Looker needs to expand its horizons when it comes to data sources. The inability to connect to different data sources is hampering our use cases. Currently, it only has an ODBC connection that connects to a database. It needs to connect to other data sources, such as Excel, APIs, and different platforms.""The visualization capability of the product is limited.""The product does not have documented material.""Stability needs improvement."
