We performed a comparison between Barracuda Intronis Backup and Veritas NetBackup based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Deduplication Software solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."Most important is its ease of use. You plug it in, follow the steps, and you have your backup file."
"The most valuable feature is unlimited data storage on the cloud. Even if the employee has left the company for a few years, the backup will still be maintained."
"The most valuable feature is the speed of backup, which is very good compared to other solutions."
"They are the best support that we have had so far. When you contact or email them, they are very quick to respond. They always have someone available for us. That's what we want as a customer, we want someone to listen to us."
"I have found the product's LiveBoot feature to be most valuable."
"The superior support from Barracuda in setting up, using, and helping with issues for the product."
"The configuration and the onboarding process are pretty good."
"Its interface is intuitive, and it is easy to use when I am restoring files. Barracuda does a really excellent job at compression, which makes it very efficient. Eight years later, I am only halfway through to the capacity, which is very good."
"The solution is stable."
"This is a product that has been on the market for a while and they have mastered the backup process, especially when backing up to tape, for most environments."
"We are quite satisfied with the performance and reliability of the NetBackup product. When it comes to specific features, the most valuable is the Instant Recovery feature, which we call "short-term IR". Instant Recovery allows users to spin up backup images and bring back any VM instantly."
"Ease of installing, configuring, upgrading, and troubleshooting."
"This is the best solution that I know of."
"The tool's information transfer and patching up is easy. The solution offers protection from ransomware which is also a valuable feature."
"Its ability to cover a large spectrum of products and operating systems is invaluable. We evaluated other products but always found certain limitations like some products had only intel-based virtualization, while others had power servers."
"The features are good."
"Their technical support is not very good. You never know what they are doing and what is the issue. Customers need to know what is happening. This is our main concern and the only thing that can be improved in this solution. I would like to have more visibility about what is going on when something happens. I need to know what was done to solve the issue."
"Barracuda works great for smaller network environments, which are not that complex. It is hardware-based with a Linux core, which you don't have access to, and a lot of stuff happens on the back-end. Even from a troubleshooting perspective, it is a bit challenging."
"Its speed can be a bit improved, and of course, its pricing can go a lot cheaper."
"The solution is pretty expensive. This is the usual customer complaint."
"I am working in some of the more rural areas of Sweden, and some of the customers here are a little bit wary of cloud technology at the moment. It is not like in Gothenburg or Stockholm, where people rely on it so much more. In the rural areas, companies are saying that we do need to use the cloud, and they are being very wary about their data, especially with GDPR and all that kind of stuff. Having more control and having an option for backing up locally, even if you don't want to use it, would be something very good. The cloud backup is brilliant, but there should be an option to take that cloud backup and save it locally as well. If you lose connection to the internet or you lose access to your data in the cloud, having a backup copy of the latest data on your server is helpful. You need to be able to get access to your customers' files, especially with GDPR, where you need to know where your customers' details are. If they're in the cloud and you've lost access to them, then you'll go into those GDPR regulations. This is somewhere where both Barracuda and Veeam haven't gone as far. As far as I have understood, with Veeam, you can back up your local servers to the cloud but not vice versa. I haven't worked on it much."
"The solution depends on your connectivity, so it is essential to have a proper connection to the cloud."
"When we manage the box physically, we don't have as much control as we do when we manage from the cloud. The best management is from the cloud."
"The solution needs fine-grained backup capabilities to service individual users. But this is a minor issue considering all that the product does."
"Main area that could be improved is the pricing, to make it more competitive"
"The HTML interface is a web application that does not offer all the features."
"In the next release, I would like to have a better way to protect against ransomware attacks and a better way of logging issues where you don't have to enable the verbose logging to capture the problems."
"Once the protection plan is created, we cannot pause or resume via the web administration page."
"There is room for improvement in the implementation of Power servers."
"You cannot tell what your costs are going to be by using the dashboard, which is something that should be improved."
"NetBackup is expensive and should be cheaper. That is why we are moving on to another solution."
"The pricing is a bit of a concern. If could be lower."
