Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"We have not experienced any bugs or glitches with this solution.""If you need only to load a specific profile and you don't have deep security functionalities, et cetera, Intune is very nice and good.""Intune can wipe devices. For example, if a disgruntled employee wants to leak the data on their company phone, Intune can terminate their access and wipe the entire device with a click.""The biggest thing for us is enforcing logins only from devices that are managed by Intune.""The tool's most valuable feature is Autopilot.""It has helped with compliance. It has helped to ensure that devices comply with the organization's policy. If they are not compliant and secure, they cannot access the resources.""While Microsoft Intune boasts a wide range of features, its user-friendliness and bundled licensing cost are key considerations for me.""Based on my experience, I find Intune very flexible for managing Windows devices. We can use scripting, and we can make use of the self-service portal or the company portal to publish some of the applications for Windows."

"Versioning makes our work easy.""The most valuable features of AWS CloudFormation are all the resources documentation is located in one location, simple resource reverting, and ease of use of the full package for new users.""I would rate the scalability a nine out of ten. We use it every day.""AWS Cloud automation reduces the time needed to create AWS resources.""The solution has helped with automation. I don't have to worry about provisioning machines and ensuring everything is set up. AWS CloudFormation takes care of the entire infrastructure for me.""Since AWS CloudFormation integrates well with the AWS platform, it facilitates faster deployment. Building templates for AWS services within the solution is also straightforward, making the process easier.""The CloudFormation template can be reused to create multiple stacks, reducing duplications and improving our infrastructure.""The most valuable feature of AWS CloudFormation is the simple tracking of infrastructure."

"Puppet Enterprise has reduced the time of production changes or environment changes.""The main purpose for this automation tool would be: deploying, controlling, ordering change for the system and IT Infrastructure.""Puppet3 and 4 series provides optimum deployment solutions for infrastructure and applications.""The most valuable features are the agent, high load balancing, and overall robustness and features.""Puppet Enterprise is a stable solution.""The versatility is great.""Puppet Enterprise has good functionalities.""Anything that we manage through Puppet always runs perfectly."

Cons
"Intune has limited integration with non-Microsoft solutions.""The synchronization could be improved.""The most important thing is reporting. They should improve their reporting. They should give a free hand to users. In SCCM, I can create my own reports. For example, in SCCM, I can create an inventory report for my PC or for all PCs, but in Intune, we don't have an option to create any report. Microsoft claims that Intune is a successor of SCCM, but SCCM is more powerful than Intune. So, they should develop Intune more and make it equivalent to SCCM. Then, their product will be great in the market.""I wanted to check if there is any provision at the Intune level to restrict certain things, such as a website, but unfortunately, that feature is available only in Microsoft Defender. Intune has web filtering capabilities, but they are only useful for protection from malicious websites, whereas we would like to be able to restrict a website. For example, YouTube is a clean website. No one would identify it as a malicious website, but if we want to stop the end-users from going to that website, we have to go for another product, such as Microsoft Defender or another third-party proxy solution. It would be great if this capability is included in Intune.""Enhancements for managing MacOS more comprehensively would be beneficial.""It should be simplified. I've worked with many different mobile device management solutions, and Intune is one of the more complex ones. It could be more simplified, and some of it is related to the wording that is being used, such as a configuration profile versus a policy. They really should have had different names to make it less confusing.""In the past, I raised some tickets for the enhancement feature, which was missing in Intune.""The initial setup is a little bit complex."

More Microsoft Intune Cons →

"For improvement, it's crucial that AWS provides options in terms of computing services, DB related services, and machine learning solutions. If I'm not hands-on with a particular service, like machine learning applications, I struggle to write the CloudFormation code.""There could be better error handling. It would be a good way to improve the solution.""As soon as they manage to parametrize the whole thing and to implement parameters at all levels, it will become automatically a lot more flexible.""The product should be made cloud-agnostic, allowing users to deploy the same environment with minimal tweaks across different cloud platforms, similar to Terraform. Additionally, it would be beneficial to have the ability to manage templates outside of the AWS environment.""This tool is not intuitive and there are others that are easier to understand.""GUI could be improved by adding graphical components.""The solution needs to offer better support to other cloud vendors.""The conditions that can be added in AWS CloudFormation are not as powerful as any programming language."

More AWS CloudFormation Cons →

"At the beginning the initial setup was kind of complex.""Puppet Enterprise should improve the general extensibility for places where they can't install it.""We would like Puppet to add more integration for applications.""There's a lot of scope for enhancement on the DevSecOps side. They should definitely include features for compliance, for both the Linux and Windows side of the devices, as well as for network devices. Compliance is something they need to work on.""The solution has really complex code, you have to understand the Ruby language. However, once you know the code then you can move ahead without any problems.""It's a bit of a pain point to make sure that everything works once we've upgraded it because Puppet has been evolving pretty fast.""Puppet Enterprise is more complex and difficult to configure."

    Reviews from Real Users

Microsoft Intune stands out among its competitors for a number of reasons. Two major ones are its ability to secure all devices under its management and the flexibility that the solution offers its users.

A computing services manager notes, "Its security is most valuable. It gives us a way to secure devices, not only those that are steady. We do have a few tablets and other devices, and it is a way for us to secure these devices and manage them. We know they're out there and what's their status. We can manage their life cycle and verify that they're updated properly."

The head of IT engineering at a financial services company writes, "The one feature we find most useful is the Mobile Application Manager. There are two types: we have the complete MDM and the Mobile Application Manager (MAM). We don't give our users phones, it is their own personal phone, and we need to allow them to have access to the company details on their phone. We need to create a balance between their own personal data and the company data. We deploy the Mobile Application Manager for them so that we won't be able to interfere with their own personal data."

AWS CloudFormation provides a common language for you to model and provision AWS and third party application resources in your cloud environment. AWS CloudFormation allows you to use programming languages or a simple text file to model and provision, in an automated and secure manner, all the resources needed for your applications across all regions and accounts. This gives you a single source of truth for your AWS and third party resources.
