We love its ease of use, ease of deployment, and combination with UCS
Pros and Cons
  • "It is a hyper-converged solution which integrates with the network instead of the product."
  • "The storage layer seems to be a little better on the VMware than on HyperFlex side."

What is our primary use case?

We use it mainly in a virtualization environment with several VMs.

We use it with VMware, not Hyper-V.

How has it helped my organization?

It is good for administrators who want to administrate storage, their virtualization environment, and network. They have one solution with one overview, helping the people who administer the systems within the data center. They have one solution for one proprietor and maybe one solution provider to handle service requests, etc.

What is most valuable?

It is a hyper-converged solution which integrates with the network instead of the product.

We love its ease of use, ease of deployment, and combination with UCS.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability works well. We have had no issues so far.

How are customer service and support?

We had an issue on the customer side, where the wrong SSD piece was delivered. However, this has nothing to do directly with the HyperFlex solution. The technical support did make sure that the right piece was delivered on schedule.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

One of our customers was given HyperFlex as a present from a telcom provider.

How was the initial setup?

The deployment was very easy. It took about two hours, and the solution was ready to use.

What about the implementation team?

We used vCenter for the installation.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Comparable solutions with switches, storage, and services are cheaper than HyperFlex. It should be cheaper.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

The storage layer seems to be a little better on the VMware than on HyperFlex side.

Good scalability and easy setup
Pros and Cons
  • "Scalability is easy and simple."
  • "Their technical support is very bad. We had an issue where instead of an engineer we got a PDF "doctor" that didn't know anything about our problem which was very frustrating."

What is our primary use case?

We use this solution for virtualization.

How has it helped my organization?

Its simplicity has been a benefit for our organization.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature is that it is scalable. It has many resources and is easy to expand.

What needs improvement?

They should improve the price. A lot of people complain that the price is an issue. For smaller countries, this solution is too expensive.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability has not really improved. Also, their upgrades are complicated. This is something that needs to be fixed, which I'm sure they'll do.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Scalability is easy and simple.

How are customer service and technical support?

Their technical support is very bad. We had an issue where instead of an engineer we got a PDF "doctor" that didn't know anything about our problem which was very frustrating.

How was the initial setup?

The setup is simple. We understand how it works so it's not a problem for us but I can imagine that for somebody who doesn't know UCS so well, the setup can be complex.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate this solution an eight out of ten. The solution is not so bad. To get a ten, the upgrades should be smoother and without any problems so that we're not scared to do them. It could also be more traditional. It's hard to trust the new product especially because we've had issues with the upgrades. It may take some time but it is getting better.

You should try this solution, you won't regret it.
