What is our primary use case?
My main use case for Wordpress on Amazon Linux is to host our business website, and we have a requirement to publish blogs.
A specific example of how I use it for our business website is that we need to quickly host our customer website, and I found Amazon Linux to be commercially viable and a quick solution for hosting Wordpress applications. With this, we can even auto-scale, mainly through horizontal scaling, which is possible while hosting Wordpress on Amazon Linux. This is especially beneficial in a spiky environment where we need to auto-scale our application multiple times. I have configured a load balancer, and behind it, I am using the Wordpress on Amazon Linux application, which is fantastic for meeting our user base requirement during spikes in traffic.
My use case mostly revolves around Wordpress hosting, which is our preference. I have end customer requirements where customers ask for hosting business websites, e-commerce sites, blogs, and I serve multiple startup companies that want to quickly host their news and media applications in Wordpress on Amazon Linux.
What is most valuable?
The best features that Wordpress on Amazon Linux offers include performance and full control over hosting compared to multiple SaaS and PaaS solutions available in the market. When I choose to opt for Wordpress on Amazon Linux with my own setup, I gain complete control, and server management remains under my control, allowing me to perform numerous tasks with full platform access to Amazon Linux.
I would like to add that the integration with other AWS services is a significant feature. If I need to integrate with AWS managed developer tools, it happens quickly, ensuring continuous deployment of code. Integrating AWS CloudFront is also seamless, allowing me to manage my static and dynamic caching accordingly.
Wordpress on Amazon Linux has positively impacted my organization mainly by providing cost savings and enabling fast deployment of customer requirements for websites that need to be hosted with Wordpress on Amazon Linux.
What needs improvement?
I look forward to more cloud-provided or natively provided images or AMIs featuring Wordpress on Amazon Linux pre-configured within them, as previously I used Bitnami images that were bundled with Wordpress on various operating systems.
I believe it would be helpful to have more agnostic solutions available in the form of images on the Marketplace, which I would prefer to quickly deploy instead of manually deploying Wordpress services in Amazon Linux. I could directly use those natively provided images.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using Wordpress on Amazon Linux for almost eight years.
