Helpful to improve an organization's business operations
Pros and Cons
  • "The product improved our company's business operations since we got value out of it."
  • "The product's price is an area of concern where improvements are required."

What is our primary use case?

I use the solution in my company for mostly integrations and some portal development.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature of the solution is its interface.

What needs improvement?

The product's price is an area of concern where improvements are required.

The solution's technical support's ability to respond to calls and resolve queries are areas where improvements are required.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using SAP Cloud Platform for five years. My company operates as a solution provider. My company uses it extensively to provide solutions for our customers.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

My company serves the needs of enterprise-sized companies where the product is used.

Medium-sized businesses can also use the product, but they need to see what they need and how they plan to integrate it.

How are customer service and support?

I rate the technical support a seven to eight out of ten.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have experience with SAP Cloud Platform and Microsoft Azure.

How was the initial setup?

If you have people who know how to deploy the product, then it is not at all complex.

The number of days required to deploy the product depends on the part of the solution our company provides.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The product's pricing varies and depends on the customers' needs.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I like SAP Cloud Platform over Microsoft Azure since the former is more well-integrated into our company's environment. Microsoft Azure does have its share of benefits, but it does not align with the space where I work. SAP is a bit faster in our company's environment.

What other advice do I have?

Speaking about a project where SAP Cloud Platform was crucial and used extensively, I would say that in our company, most of our development involved integrating into SAP's business systems.

Speaking about whether the tool is useful for data analysis, I know that most of the tools are used for integration between systems, but we have also written some applications for users to connect to and work with the system.

My company is investigating the AI services offered by the product since it is a fairly new technology on an SAP platform. My company has used the AI part for some of our own research work and to build project reports.

The product improved our company's business operations since we got value out of it.

In terms of time to market, the product has undergone quite a lot of development, and I feel that it is constantly improving. In general, SAP Cloud Platform has a fairly decent time to market.

I rate the tool an eight out of ten.

A stable solution that captures data in real time and provides excellent technical support
Pros and Cons
  • "The product captures data in real time."
  • "Planning features are limited to the finance module."

What is our primary use case?

Our clients use the product for dashboards and reports.

What is most valuable?

The product captures data in real time. It enables real-time communication. We need not use the ETL process. The data is put up in report formats, and dashboards are created based on the reports. It covers all the areas of sales, finance, and manufacturing for reporting purposes.

What needs improvement?

Planning features are limited to the finance module. Planning features for other modules must be improved. We have to purchase separate components to cover the production, procurement, and pay cycles. Ideally, everything should come into one bucket. We should not have to buy two products to plan for production and finance.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using the solution for three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I rate the tool’s stability an eight out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The tool is scalable. If we want to add some more dashboards or anything, we have to coordinate with the consultant, and they will enable it. We must contact the consultant if we use all the core modules and want to introduce client maintenance with additional features. The consultant will bring all the information into the system and make it ready for the business. I rate the scalability an eight out of ten.

How are customer service and support?

SAP’s support is good.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was not tough, but it was not easy. We should have a qualified resource to get it done. The person should have knowledge of finance and S/4HANA to collect data from different sources and make it easily available for dashboards.

One consultant is enough to deploy the solution. They would need input from people from finance and other departments. If there is any change in the dashboard, the consultant must handle it. If we are just running simple reports daily, the maintenance is easy. The ease of maintenance depends on the business requirements.

What was our ROI?

The ROI is good. Once the dashboards are ready, they give the owners and CXOs a decision-making edge. We can also do what-if analysis.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The solution is worth the money. I rate the pricing a three or four out of ten. It is subscription-based.

What other advice do I have?

The product is perfect for budgeting and financial reporting. However, it needs to be improved to plan for manufacturing and production. Overall, I rate the solution an eight out of ten.

Great integration options but the initial deployment can be complex
Pros and Cons
  • "The features I found most valuable are the integration options."
  • "The areas I think this solution should improve are monitoring and adapting."

What is our primary use case?

Our primary use case is for the interface.

What is most valuable?

The features I found most valuable are the integration options.

What needs improvement?

The areas I think this solution should improve are monitoring and adapting.

In the next release, I'd like to see features like alerting.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using this solution for about two or three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

My impression is that this solution has good stability. I would rate it an eight, on a scale from one to 10, with one being the worst and 10 being the best.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

My impression is that this solution's scalability options are quite good. There are currently two people using this solution in our company.

How was the initial setup?

I would say that the initial setup process was not straightforward and was not complex, but rather something in between. I would say that this process took around one month. The issue with the setup is that in the beginning, it was difficult to understand and learn how every dependent works with other products and sub-products.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

We're paying I believe $30,000 per year for the SAP Cloud Platform.

What other advice do I have?

Overall, I would rate this product an eight, on a scale from one to 10, with one being the worst and 10 being the best.

An interactive dashboard that comes in handy when developing complex interfaces
Pros and Cons
  • "The solution is very useful and interactive with a dashboard for viewing other interfaces."
  • "The solution is very stable and reliable, and interruptions from a third party or our server are easily identified."
  • "It would be helpful to have additional samples for SoapUI that include interface methodologies and templates."
  • "It would be helpful to have additional samples for SoapUI that include interface methodologies and templates."

What is our primary use case?

Our company uses the solution to monitor interfaces in our pipeline such as e-Invoice for India.

What is most valuable?

The solution is very useful and interactive with a dashboard for viewing other interfaces. I use SAP and interact or use many protocols with other software such as Ariba, SoapUI, WebDAV, and web services.

Sample packages are very helpful when starting development.

What needs improvement?

It would be helpful to have additional samples for SoapUI that include interface methodologies and templates.

New developers might have some difficulty with the platform.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using the solution for three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is very stable and reliable. Interruptions from a third party or our server are easily identified.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution is scalable and we have no issues interacting with our own software or any other interface files.

How are customer service and support?

I have not used technical support.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I used XI/PI, XI/PA, and CPI which are middleware. CPI was an upgrade for XI/PI.

How was the initial setup?

The setup is of medium complexity and takes a few days to two weeks.

What about the implementation team?

For implementation, we used a hybrid package provided by SAP where we developed one side and used iFlow for the other side.

What other advice do I have?

The solution works well for use cases that are not complex.

If a use case is complex, you have to split development into many parts. The dashboard comes in handy for developing complex interfaces.

I rate the solution a nine out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Private Cloud

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

Other

User-friendly with good clarity provided on the dashboard
Pros and Cons
  • "The dashboard provides pretty good clarity."
  • "The dashboard gives pretty good clarity of what's happening and what needs to be done."
  • "Lacks flexibility in its licensing structure."
  • "SAP offers very little flexibility in its licensing structure."

What is our primary use case?

The use case of this product varies according to the customer's needs, but we generally implement it when a customer is looking for a complete SaaS-based model without the need for infrastructure. It saves them from having to take care of any facilities including a data center, redundancy layers, and administration. We are resellers and I'm a service architect.

What is most valuable?

The dashboard gives pretty good clarity of what's happening and what needs to be done.

What needs improvement?

SAP offers very little flexibility in its licensing structure. That said, most of our customers are okay with the price points and we have closed about 50 mid-sized customers with SAP Cloud Platform.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

This is an SaaS based model, so scalability is fine.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is straightforward. In terms of maintenance, we operate on a model of shared services so there is no set number of people involved. It changes depending on the need.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Licensing costs are reasonable and based on the space you're purchasing. There is an annual license fee.

What other advice do I have?

There are several companies with products in this area and each one has its own unique structure and features, so it's difficult to compare them. It's a matter of choosing the one best suited to your needs.

I rate this solution eight out of 10.

Pre-delivered content is a strength, but there aren't any easy migrations from SAP PO to SAP CPI
Pros and Cons
  • "The pre-delivered content from the SAP cloud platform is definitely a strength."
  • "The pre-delivered content from the SAP cloud platform is definitely a strength."
  • "The main problem is that there aren't any easy migrations from SAP PO to SAP CPI, so from process orchestration to cloud platform integration."
  • "The main problem is that there aren't any easy migrations from SAP PO to SAP CPI, so from process orchestration to cloud platform integration."

What is our primary use case?

I'm an integration architect, so I'm involved in implementations.

What is most valuable?

The pre-delivered content from the SAP cloud platform is definitely a strength. They are doing it, but it's still not a fully mature solution yet. So it's good for some business cases, but not for all of them.

What needs improvement?

The main problem is that there aren't any easy migrations from SAP PO to SAP CPI, so from process orchestration to cloud platform integration. The connectivity requirements, not only with the SAP environment but also with third party systems, are not fully fulfilled. The re-uses of the know-how from the process orchestration can be used but aren't fully used.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using this solution for five years.

How are customer service and support?

Technical support is good.

How was the initial setup?

The setup of subclasses for integration is very easy. It's the cloud version, so they give you a username and password and it's done.

What about the implementation team?

I was the consultant.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate this solution 7 out of 10.

I think it has room for improvement. They are doing it, but it's still not a fully mature solution yet. It's good for some business cases but not all of them.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Public Cloud

Provides good security integration and scalability
Pros and Cons
  • "The most valuable features of SAP Cloud Platform are security integration and scalability."
  • "The solution’s pricing could be improved."

What is most valuable?

The most valuable features of SAP Cloud Platform are security integration and scalability.

What needs improvement?

The solution’s pricing could be improved.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using SAP Cloud Platform for 14 to 15 years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

SAP Cloud Platform is a stable solution.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

SAP Cloud Platform is a scalable solution.

How are customer service and support?

The solution’s technical support is satisfactory.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have previously used NetSuite. I find SAP Cloud Platform better than NetSuite. SAP Cloud Platform has all the business processes well defined and well mapped, ready to deploy solutions, whereas NetSuite does not have that. NetSuite has its limitations when it comes to scaling. You can scale with SAP Cloud Platform.

As your business grows, you can start with the public cloud and then move into the private cloud. You can start with B1 and then go to Business ByDesign. Later, you can go to the public cloud and move from public to private. If you have NetSuite and you're growing your business, there's no option but to switch to ERP.

How was the initial setup?

The solution’s initial setup is easy.

What about the implementation team?

The solution’s deployment time depends on the business you will implement it for. The deployment takes much less time in the service sector, whereas it takes more time in manufacturing.

What was our ROI?

The solution generally gives a 20% to 30% return on investment by improving the business processes.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

SAP Cloud Platform is an expensive solution.

What other advice do I have?

SAP Cloud Platform is difficult to maintain if you do too much customization. The solution is easy to maintain if it's a standard business process.

The solution can integrate with multiple software, like Concur, an expense management tool. APIs are readily available, and the solution can integrate with multiple banks and tax authorities. The integration of SAP Cloud Platform is quite strong with market solutions like Vertex and Vistex.

Run time data is stored and recalled using the solution's in-memory database technology. It does not need to go into different tables every time to pull the data. Instead of storing the data vertically, it is now stored horizontally, which makes it easy.

Overall, I rate the solution an eight out of ten.
