The features of Nutanix Unified Storage (NUS) that I find most appealing are the objects, which we use the most, and then files are second. NUS has those two components, and the objects are what we work with primarily. What I appreciate about Nutanix Unified Storage (NUS) is that it's simple, easy to use, easy to maintain, and easy to install. It's a part of the Nutanix stack, allowing you to manage everything in one console.
Having a single vendor experience and utilizing space on a Nutanix cluster that may not be fully used is beneficial. You can stand up objects, which is S3 compatible, and send data there. The flexibility of it is really important. You have your normal file share or an object, and it's advantageous to have one solution for both.
From what I've heard from customers that I work with regarding workloads, everybody seems happy with Nutanix Unified Storage (NUS). Customers mostly use it for file shares, and they are content with it because it's resilient, easy to work with, and easy to maintain. I
It is more stable and scalable compared to the Windows file server.
My impressions of the cybersecurity features of Nutanix Unified Storage (NUS) when dealing with unstructured data, such as ransomware threats, are positive. As a platform, Nutanix is secure. If you use the features of their product called Flow Network Security, you can protect the NUS environment from ransomware by applying zero trust principles regarding access to your NUS.
I mostly use Data Lens for the security features more than the cost features regarding how it impacts data management costs. It would do a pretty good job of analyzing costs since there was an element in an acquisition Nutanix made that included a security piece and a cost piece. They haven't done much with the cost piece, so it's there a little bit but not as much as with security.

The features of Nutanix Unified Storage (NUS) that I appreciate most are the protection it provides from cyber threats, the resiliency it provides, and the data copy features, which are really useful.
From the cost perspective of Nutanix Unified Storage (NUS), when compared to SBCs, it presents a significant cost benefit, and it comes inbuilt. Another benefit is the reliability.
The performance of Nutanix Unified Storage (NUS) helps to reduce IO. When discussing read-write rates, it performs effectively.
My impression of the cybersecurity features of Nutanix Unified Storage (NUS) when dealing with unstructured data, such as ransomware threats, is that since it is more encrypted, it is more reliable from both the support perspective and the chat perspective.
The reliability and stability of Nutanix Unified Storage (NUS) is good, and the disaster recovery component is something impressive for this product.

It takes up very little rack space and is very easy to use. We had three racks of storage and went down to one.
Even the Unified Storage was all in a four-node cluster, however, it was all hybrid converged. This year we bought three new nodes and they are all the same with Nutanix Files and two AHV 80-terabyte license increases.
I have seen changes in the latency; from our new nodes to our old nodes, it is about twice as fast.
My experience with using Nutanix Unified Storage (NUS) for data-intensive workloads is that we have many SQL Servers and they perform much better than they did when we used hybrid converged previously.
These features have improved our company because we went from having three different hypervisors down to one. We had three racks full of storage and now it is just half a rack.

What I appreciate the most about Nutanix Unified Storage (NUS) is the fact that it's flexible; it's not all hardware-driven. Your FSVMs allow you the flexibility to scale up or scale out. You don't even have to go 100% with each node to start off. You can start off with 60% of the node coverage. In my case, I have an eight-node cluster, so I'll start off with five FSVMs initially, and then I'll scale up for resources, however, if I have the need to scale out for additional FSVMs, I can do that. In a typical SMB type storage environment, it's physical protocol nodes; you buy it, you're done, you don't have that scalability.
My experience with using Nutanix Unified Storage (NUS) for data-intensive workloads, such as AI, in a hybrid cloud environment is shaped by the fact that we're an engineering firm dealing with AutoCAD, which involves very heavy GPU-based applications. When you drag that mouse, it's immediately writing to storage, it's immediately writing to NUS, all those different layers, all the reference points it has to access that data instantly. The performance we've already seen to date is significantly better than a traditional SAN array that presents SMB shares to our end users, and I'm curious to see how that's going to work moving forward. I anticipate that as we expand more and more nodes, it's going to get better and better and faster and faster.
View full review »If one physical server goes down, immediately, in five or six seconds, it shifts to another physical server. For us, this is nothing; it freezes for five to six seconds, and then immediately, we continue to work, and that's crucial for us since the business can continue.
I am very happy with the cybersecurity features of Nutanix Unified Storage (NUS) when dealing with unstructured data, such as ransomware threats; so far it's all working effectively for me, and it works with Palo Alto, another company that they're collaborating with, and so far it's all good despite a few attacks.
Nutanix Unified Storage (NUS) is helping reduce my total cost of ownership. This is why I have been using it for six years and have renewed it three times. I have seen a return on investment while using Nutanix Unified Storage (NUS); anywhere you are paying, it does not matter if you are paying EMC or Nutanix. The issue is that you are getting everything in one company, and you don't need to work with three companies, and the system's stability is the main benefit for me.

The most valuable features of Nutanix Unified Storage (NUS) are its unique storage features. It provides robust performance, and we are using all NVMe drives. Our SQL database previously was on SSDs, which had less performance on VMware; after migrating to AHV in Nutanix storage, we are seeing a significant difference in I/O performance, and the database performance is excellent compared to the previous setup.
The performance of Nutanix Unified Storage (NUS) increased almost 50%. Earlier, we experienced many issues with latency and SQL performance, but now we are not receiving any incidents.
We have additional benefits from using Nutanix Unified Storage (NUS), as we are using it for Nutanix files and Nutanix objects, which are performing exceptionally within the system. We are mostly using all Nutanix files within their cluster, and our performance is very good compared to our old NAS storage.
I assess the scalability of Nutanix Unified Storage (NUS) to be one of its notable features, as we don't see any issues; it's seamless to attach additional nodes whenever we need to scale or if we only want to increase storage. We have the option of adding only storage nodes, which is a very good feature.

The overall management interface of Nutanix Unified Storage (NUS) has been very comprehensive, giving us a very easy overview into our environment.
We love the scalability features of NUS and the ability to not have an all-in-one storage package where you drop money on something, and that's what it's going to be.
The availability of the environment is incredible, and with Prism Central, you're able to diagnose and go over issues quickly. If you don't know what's going on, you can contact Nutanix support if you have an agreement, as we do, and their specialists will help you quickly.
I appreciate Nutanix is taking the steps towards data isolation and protection features and enhancing them for public and private sectors. They're really trying to treat their environments as an all-encompassing environment on the security side of things as well and not just focused on the, for NUS, the storage side.

What I find most valuable about Nutanix Unified Storage (NUS) is definitely the manageability from one platform.
On databases, IOPS, read-writes, transaction logs are critical, and storing and organizing those log files and databases, as well as transaction throughput for ERP, is essential. Nutanix Unified Storage (NUS) has helped us overcome a couple of Oracle-based challenges that we've had with IOPS and read and latency, providing hands-up visibility and insight into our data with graphs and charts, which allow us to know exactly how much data is flowing over the wires.
The cybersecurity features of Nutanix Unified Storage (NUS) when dealing with unstructured data, such as ransomware threats, provide the ability to detect and back up block-based storage, allowing me to restore repositories or sets of block storage with one button click, which is automatic. It really helps when a user has encrypted data from ransomware, as we can click a button and restore that data to a previous snapshot, which is great.

The feature that I find most useful in Nutanix Unified Storage (NUS) is the integration with Nutanix Move where you can seamlessly integrate it into your storage. We use it initially to migrate from ESXi to AHV, and now we're using it to integrate into our EUS storage. After we're pushing that directly to our data center as a backup or easier centralization of it.
We've definitely had some cost benefits with Nutanix Unified Storage (NUS), which has been really nice, but also some speed benefits and ease of use. We've been able to click inside of one centralized management area, which has been a nice, centralized management platform to be able to transfer those off storage offers.
The overall costs saved with Nutanix Unified Storage (NUS) is about $100,000 annually. We probably saved our engineers eight to ten hours per week of remedial tasks in terms of having to back up storage, push scripts, and set up automated scripts. Now, it's just a click of a button inside the platform.
It's really efficient using Nutanix Unified Storage (NUS). It has an automatic check policy where you can just one-click check, and every day it goes and scrapes pulls everything. You also have that nice implementation security checks that automatically go nightly, and that also checks your EUS storage. It's a really nice feature we didn't have previously.
View full review »One of the best features of Nutanix Unified Storage (NUS) is that it can be accommodated in every physical server in every cluster, and it can be migrated very fast, with no need to change in other private setups. When we remove the storage from one physical server to another, the virtualization allows for seamless migration—after clicking on the migration of a VM from another cluster to another, the storage automatically gets migrated. Everything is autoscaling in Nutanix, which is a great advantage.
Nutanix Unified Storage (NUS) saves time complexities, and even though it is high priced, it improves performance significantly.
Based on the real-time scenario I mentioned, there is a 30% performance improvement observed with Nutanix Unified Storage (NUS).

One of the main features of Nutanix Unified Storage (NUS) that I find most valuable is the flexibility and scalability of it, as well as the ability to perform replication for our Disaster Recovery environment.
These specific features of Nutanix Unified Storage (NUS) are valuable to my organization as they reduce the overhead, and having a relatively small IT team makes it important to set it and forget it.
My team is not managing manual or repetitive tasks; instead, we concentrate on higher value projects, and that is one of the things we are interested in exploring more within Nutanix Unified Storage (NUS) with other features. As we expand, having less hands-on or manual intervention becomes critical to maintain a certain overhead in the team without incurring additional costs while keeping the team focused on other important tasks.
From utilizing Nutanix Unified Storage (NUS), we haven't had any issues for the past years since we implemented it; it has been low maintenance and has high availability or redundancy, allowing us to worry less about it. You set it, get to know it, and then you set it and forget it.
The stability and reliability of Nutanix Unified Storage (NUS) are very high; we have never had any issues. The only downside might be the licensing cost, but ultimately, you pay for what you get.
We have seen reduced overheads and increased efficiency with Nutanix Unified Storage (NUS).
We haven't had any issues with the solution for years. It's very low maintenance and offers high availability and low redundancy. That's the value of it. You set it and forget it.
View full review »What I find most valuable about Nutanix Unified Storage (NUS) is that it's a smoother transition from VMware, and currently, it's more stable than VMware, especially after Nutanix Unified Storage (NUS) updated many things a couple of years ago to meet requirements from our infosec and security team.
The features I find most valuable have benefited our company through the migration process.
The migration from VMware to Nutanix Unified Storage (NUS) is less complex and less troublesome, and the replication and clustering are very good. When we need to shut down one of the nodes or hardware, it automatically transitions to the others, taking less headache from us and not interrupting our service during the upgrade or migration.
We're looking for a hybrid environment. We're working to consolidate to the cloud or to go hybrid. That will be our goal in one to two years - to do things with less complexity in a hybrid cloud environment.
We haven't had any security events. Nutanix is good in that regard.

What I appreciate most about Nutanix Unified Storage (NUS) is its user-friendly nature. When comparing it to other storage solutions such as NFS, NTFS, SMB, and block storage, Nutanix Unified Storage (NUS) removes complexity. The built-in virtualization cloud provided by Nutanix, AHV, allows for scalability without complexity.
The performance aspects are particularly impressive, especially regarding high throughput and low latency. It effectively handles real-world performance requirements. The system is designed according to hardware configuration, allowing us to increase CPU, RAM, and storage input/output capacity when required. We can implement data locality in AHV or VMware, and manage SSD for hot data and HDD for cold data.

The most effective features of Nutanix Unified Storage (NUS) for us are about making multiple copies of our data across hardware nodes, ensuring that if there is a hardware failure, we still don't lose our data, which I think is the most important. Also, they have a file solution that is good for file shares, and that is of value to us.
The switch from solutions such as IBM to Nutanix Unified Storage (NUS) was driven by the need for different skill sets for a separate storage team and separate compute team. Maintaining these old devices was getting prohibitively high, so consolidating everything onto Nutanix Unified Storage (NUS) made sense and allowed one set of Nutanix engineers to manage the entire estate.

The features I appreciate the most about Nutanix Unified Storage (NUS) are the compatibility with the market. My clients express satisfaction with the environment and the product.
The efficiency and the product are very good. It's a fast product with no latency. The facility to use Nutanix Unified Storage (NUS) benefits our company greatly, as both ourselves and the end client find it to be a wonderful product.
My experience with using Nutanix Unified Storage (NUS) for data-intensive workloads in a hybrid cloud environment is limited as I don't have a hybrid environment. For massive storage, this process is normal. All storage has some latency; when changing from old storage to new storage, you have this little latency, however, it's fast, though I really can't compare with another product.
My impression of the cybersecurity features of Nutanix Unified Storage (NUS) when dealing with unstructured data such as ransomware threats is good. I normally use additional prevention software and backup services to protect data from loss or ransomware threats to avoid any future problems.
Nutanix Unified Storage (NUS) helps my clients reduce their total cost of ownership as it's a good product for this; the zero-cost licensing is a great part. The customer appreciates that it's zero cost, and in reality, it's really good.

We transitioned from a three-tier architecture to Nutanix Unified Storage (NUS). With the Files offering out of Nutanix Unified Storage (NUS), we were able to migrate those shares with a smaller footprint. We didn't have to create a bunch of Windows file servers and reset everything. We could just migrate our current environment, and that migration has been very nice for us. If we were doing it currently with Nutanix Unified Storage (NUS) Files, the Move functionality is built in. Five years ago, I had to do scripting. There are certainly time savings with the Move feature. Using the scripting method that I worked on required finding the right times for particular groups and all the coordination. I needed to make sure everything was right.

The feature I like most about Nutanix Unified Storage (NUS) is the ability to optimize storage spaces.
This capability has helped my company achieve cost reductions and price improvements.
I have reduced costs by approximately between 20 and 30 percent.
Regarding Nutanix Unified Storage (NUS) for low-latency or heavy workloads, it helps significantly in optimizing quantities and achieving better performance with lower response times.
The biggest return on investment when using Nutanix Unified Storage (NUS) has been better response times for applications, which applies to latencies.
Nutanix Unified Storage is easy for end users to access. They can use it like any other drive on their systems. We have mapped it in the user system so they can scan files and store them. They can use it just like an Android drive.
It removes a layer of aggregation to present storage to end users, so we do not have Windows file servers. This benefits our company by reducing one of our attack planes from a cybersecurity perspective, so we do not have to worry about the OS.
It also simplifies the storage to ensure we are not allowing anyone to get a file share wherever they want it.

Some of the features that we use include replication and snapshot capabilities, especially from remote locations to our data centers. The main benefit our company sees from using Nutanix Unified Storage is simplification. In the past, we used three-tier solutions with a lot of complexity and operational overhead. From an analytics perspective, the best aspect of Unified Storage is its locality. When you read data, you want to know that you're only reading data from the particular local storage node. It's also critical to access the data as quickly as possible from that. From a business perspective, the most important thing is ease of use. Having a combination of compute and storage makes it much easier to manage.
We don't have any latency, which is one reason we continue to use Nutanix for these workloads. Our data warehouse has a traditional three-tiered structure and has been that way for many years. It doesn't mean it doesn't function, but we wanted to modernize it by improving performance.
We achieved that using Nutanix. We could remove the latency you would get from reading your traditional SAN and combine all that into the Nutanix nodes on a cluster.
It has reduced the number of nodes to a degree because we've been able to collapse several legacy SAN infrastructures into the Nutanix boosters. We still need that storage for three-tier, so we put it together outside.
View full review »The features I like the most about Nutanix Unified Storage (NUS) include the direct availability of NFS and iSCSI storage protocols. This setup removes dependability on a server running on virtualization, offering us direct access to these protocols. This feature enhances monitoring, growth pattern analysis, and manageability, all from a single console. Nutanix Unified Storage (NUS) provides stability and self-healing with no problems to report, establishing a reliable storage solution.
View full review »Nutanix Unified Storage is a cluster. Compared to any other virtualization environment, Nutanix Unified Storage doesn't require any downtime to upgrade and doesn't experience storage outages. So, things are going smoothly with Nutanix, and that's the best part of the Nutanix cluster for storage.
The solution's most valuable feature is the Prism Central centralized management console. We have close to eight to nine clusters and also remote sites. Compared to other tools, the solution is easy to manage. I would also like to mention the solution's ActiveDR concept and replication.
We have sites from different locations, and we are in the process of procuring ultimate licensing. Even if one cluster goes down, we can bring it up and have the application operating from the other site. That's the beauty of the tool, which makes it more efficient.
We use Cohesity from Nutanix to protect our organization's unstructured data. We also have a cloud-based Rubrik tool. Cohesity has the same infrastructure as Nutanix Unified Storage. I am an administrator for both Nutanix Unified Storage and Cohesity. We take snapshot-level backups. Since we are implementing ultimate licensing for remote sites, we will use an internal snapshot feature to replicate to the other sites.
The solution's storage and scalability features have improved our data operations. Our storage is increasing daily for business purposes. Nutanix Unified Storage has good scalability. We recently received some orders, and some nodes were added.
I like Nutanix's data locality feature because it improved our data accessibility and availability.
Implementing Nutanix Unified Storage has tremendously reduced the number of storage nodes by around 20% to 30%.

The most valuable feature of the solution stems from the fact that I like the object sizes. The tool's infrastructure is quite easy to implement. I know that I would like the product's licensing model to be much cheaper, especially if I tried to make another type of cluster. When you have huge data, the tool is cheaper.
Nutanix Unified Storage for detecting and blocking ransomware threats is a good option offered by the tool to users for objects and storage. Users can access the right technologies offered by the product so that it is more secure for our company.
Nutanix Unified Storage offers large space per node. The tool does not help reduce the number of nodes used in my company. Usually, my company needs to expand the number of nodes used.
In terms of the tools my company is currently utilizing to protect unstructured data, I would say that there is one option that you can use for your data protection. You can have two or three implementations to develop a disaster recovery for unstructured data, especially for the ones on file servers.

The best Nutanix Unified Storage features are its recovery and data speeds. It has resolved the issue of accessing information quickly. NUS's throughput is quite good. However, our model still requires optimization for better results. It isn't the solution's fault but rather how our data is organized. The throughput is excellent, especially the data analytics, it has many conversions. A lot of information comes and goes, which is analyzed differently. The result is perfect.

I think that recently, about two years ago I imagine, Nutanix added a better feature on the platform and now it competes with the best on the market. I think the add-on feature they used is very good.

The scalability, ease of use, and technical support are the most valuable features of Nutanix Unified Storage. Whenever we encounter an issue, we call their support team and they are great in assisting us. We are able to quickly scale our environment to meet our annual demands without incurring high costs for replacement or addition. We do not have to remove anything, we simply add on as needed.

With the current version of Nutanix Unified Storage, we've implemented a new feature called Data Lens that provides powerful capabilities for reporting file usage and identifying abnormal trends. These trends could include unusual file deletions, large-scale file access events, or potential indicators of cyberattacks like ransomware. Additionally, this data lens can help detect malicious insider activity, such as a disgruntled employee downloading sensitive company information before termination. The real-time alerts generated by this system enable us to swiftly address and mitigate such threats.
View full review »Unified Storage's centralized management features enable us to accomplish whatever we want in terms of operations and migrations. It's easy to manage the environment. Scalability is also a valuable feature. Unified Storage is highly flexible and stable. Scaling up the environment is simple, and we can scale based on our workload, which can be unpredictable.
Nutanix's SaaS-based data security solution is great. It protects us against ransomware and global data threats. Everything is protected. It also provides cloud-hosted analytics. The Data Lens monitoring services are working well for us. We can view all the analytics from within the centralized management platform, which is convenient for users. The security features are all there. We feel comfortable knowing that we get a high level of detail at the security level. Data Lens' rating is centralized and everything is easy to use.

The features that are most important to us are related to integration with the cloud platforms like Azure and AWS, although it supports Google Cloud as well. But the most important point is the simplicity of the API integration. We can leverage the API integrations and connect our hybrid-cloud network environment with Nutanix's cloud storage.
We also use Nutanix Data Lens to boot our virtual machines and to create zoning.
In addition, we can manage and run the storage from any location. The solution gives us the capability to operate the complete unified platform from the cloud. We can create the logical chunks in the storage, and we can map the different types of pools to any resource, residing in any environment, irrespective of location.
And for managing unstructured data, like audio, video, and images, we create different types of tiering or pools in Unified Storage. On the basis of those pools, the data is classified and we use the classifications to connect the storage pools to their respective endpoints.
The integration with Prism Central makes it a lot easier to manage, so we just have a single pane of glass location that we can go to. We do not have a separate admin console or anything that we have to use.
It also replicates a lot of the features that NetApp had in terms of tiered storage and snapshots but at a much cheaper price.

The most valuable feature is the storage density of the nodes. We went with the HP's low-density nodes.
The installation is set and forget. We didn't really have the personnel staffing to be able to handle more storage systems, we were already running in Nutanix as a primary driver for a virtualization platform. It was just a matter of setting up another cluster.
Nutanix enables us to reduce the amount of nodes. We had the coding and data reduction features. We had the larger, hard-density nodes and we were able to decrease the amount quite a bit. Had we built it another way, we would have ended up with larger traditional storage vendors. Nutanix is really perfect.
We just installed it, set it up, and then we forgot about it. We do quarterly patching. We just set up the alerting and it just works. That's the benefit that we want all IT systems to have.
View full review »I like that we can have Nutanix clusters for VMs and files. That means we have data locality when we use the NFS storage somewhere else. When you use an external vendor, you do not have the data locality.
The interface is quite simple. It is very good. It is easy to configure. It also has a powerful CLI. In the few hours that I was playing with it, I did not explore the power of it, but I noticed that CLI has potential. Because of its simplicity, the interface can lack some options, but I am pretty sure that any lack of features in the UI can be compensated by the CLI.

I like Nutanix Prism Central. The primary benefit is that we can manage everything from the same page. It also gives you the data in graph form on the main page, so you can keep a close eye on what is happening. You can watch for high utilization and see the disks and reports in the central console. It's a resilient and highly stable application
The modernized infrastructure and data services feature is the most beneficial to me as an administrator. We derive business value in terms of storage because we have the option of using Windows Firewall.
Nutanix Unified Storage allows us to consolidate our data platform within the Nutanix cluster itself without using external storage. You can work with all types of unstructured data seamlessly with Unified Storage. There should be no problem with that. There are no issues with audio, video, uploads, downloads, etc.
It's a flexible solution. This is what I understood as I was reviewing the documentation today. Nutanix is trying to simplify storage and has many options for scalability.

The most valuable features of the solution are high availability and synchronization to another location. Just in case it goes down, then you always have your data. Nutanix Unified Storage is easy to implement, and the way the architecture is built is very good.
The solution has already improved a lot. The first time we used it, we ran into boundaries. Since then, the solution has become more mature.
The throughput or latency of Nutanix Unified Storage for data-intensive workloads is one of the better things we see. It's like expanding storage and two times doing nothing. If you have to do that in other systems, it takes more work and care. The storage in Nutanix is better organized and more flexible.
We have used the demo version of Nutanix Data Lens, which is okay from what we saw. Our organization is considering using Data Lens because it gives insights into what's happening with our data, which is interesting.
We have several security measures in place that are very important for our organization.

And afterward, the pre-sales guys are very supportive whenever you get stuck in anything. They will help you on that day. I really have good hands-on experience with the product, and also the support team is very strong.
The flexibility is great. We can easily integrate it with other products as well. Like, it is designed to scale up and scale out easily, allowing the organization to store as much capacity as they need.

From what can I see indirectly from our infrastructure team, I'd say the simplicity of management is the most useful aspect. Whenever we have some necessity in terms of capacity and expansion of infrastructure, it's like a Lego system where they can just place in some more nodes and our needs are met. They just provision new nodes in a cluster, and everything just goes.
We have noted a reduction in the number of storage nodes. It helps reinforce the simplicity of the solution. There are many capacity problems solved by simply expanding the cluster.
The reduction in the number of the nodes does have benefits - especially in terms of physical space. We can keep pour racks tidy and use a small footprint. It simplifies the physical infrastructure.

For somebody like me who grew up building what others call three-tier and I call traditional architecture, the valuable thing is that you can now buy it. You can have new deployments and infrastructure up and running with very little infrastructure behind it. If you have networking and you buy the cluster, you are done. The flexibility it provides with growth is a no-brainer. It could be node-based or cluster-based. We have multiple clusters. We DR to different sites. We have now bought specific clusters for high-end compute for data analytics and data lakes. There is nothing that it cannot do, and it does everything better than ITS COMPETITORS.

The best feature is that it's on Nutanix itself. In comparison, if Windows file server gets killed, then all the data is gone but for Nutanix, it's on another layer.
It gives more security that the data isn't going to get lost.
The replication is better solved if we have Nutanix Unified Storage because one file site storage solution has at least three VMs. If one VM doesn't work, it gets replicated on the other two, which means we always have access to the data in comparison to Windows File Server.

Because Nutanix is web-based, I can be in Illinois and check on the data center in Michigan. If we have a problem that one of my engineers can't solve, then they can call me, and I can take a look at it. The remote availability features are great.
I used Nutanix Data Lens a little bit, but my security engineer has been playing more with it. He has not said anything bad about it.
Nutanix Unified Storage helped remove siloes in our organization. IT doesn't have to operate as it did 10 years ago, where you had a team dedicated just to storage, one team that was just hardware, or one dedicated to certain applications. With Nutanix, everybody learned all the different ins and outs. We're bringing on a whole new data center and will be doing replication between the clusters and between the data centers. Everyone has come up to speed pretty quickly, and I don't have to pigeonhole a person. Everyone can jump from console to console and learn it fairly quickly.

We can utilize mixed storage block-sized objects and combine various databases within a unified interface.
We can scale up or out without causing any interruptions to our service.
View full review »One of the things that really sold us on Nutanix Unified Storage was File Analytics and Data Lens. We could always tell how much storage we were using, how many files we had, and even the age of the files, but we could never get a good handle on who was doing what with them. This has been a huge issue for us. For example, if someone moved a folder, we would not be able to tell who did it. We did not have a good way of auditing what was going on with the systems. This could become an issue in a ransomware attack. It would make it more difficult to figure out when we got infected and where we need to roll back to in order to recover. Nutanix File Analytics and Data Lens give us that information. In addition, Data Lens has a mechanism built in to prevent a ransomware attack from getting a foothold on the system. It can shut it down before it does a lot of damage.
Nutanix Unified Storage does a very good job of unifying our organization's block, file, and object storage. It puts it all in one place. From one platform, we can deploy S3-type buckets. We can provide iSCSI-level block storage if we need to. It does a great job with home folders and departmental shares, which is what we mostly use Nutanix Unified Storage for.
We can manage and run its storage from any location. Nutanix Unified Storage does a really good job of that, especially with the newest version of Files, 4.3. You can run it on NC2. That opens up a whole new possibility for us down the road when it comes time to do a refresh on the hardware. As our data centers age, it also gives us another option. We would have to decide whether we want to spend millions of dollars updating our data centers or looking at a cloud-based solution. NC2 provides a lot of advantages over just a standard native AWS or Azure deployment.
As part of our organization's ransomware protection strategy, our security department has a number of ransomware appliances that do scanning. We have antivirus running on the various shares and workstations. What's really exciting for us with Nutanix Unified Storage is that we get another tool to help prevent a ransomware attack. In case something gets through the security's appliances or something slides in through the back door, we have an additional tool to look for that ransomware attack and recover from it quickly.
Other than testing Nutanix Data Lens, we haven't gotten into it yet. However, it looks very promising. We're very excited about it, and so is our security team.
In terms of removing silos in our organization, Nutanix Unified Storage does a good job. My team manages the virtual infrastructure, and that was one of the reasons why we went with Nutanix Unified Storage over some of the other competitors. We're familiar with Nutanix and the platform. It's easy to deal with, and it makes managing a large system with a small number of employees a lot easier.

The life cycle managers of the PCMs are very impressive, and I like them. They make our lives easy when managing patches and security updates when they come in. A life cycle manager helps to consolidate different vendors.
Also, because the management is simplified, I can depend on one or two people. We are able to reduce contractors and FTEs. We used to be a team of more than ten people, and now we are a team of six. As such, we are able to save about $400,000 a year.

View full review »The solution's deployment and scalability are the most valuable features. The solution is simple and robust.
The most valuable feature is that it is highly available, solving the pain-point of delaying updates to Windows-based file servers during production hours. And then the second one would be ransomware protection and analytics. It gives you great visibility and protection on your file shares that are otherwise the most common sources of vulnerabilities.
View full review »I find that Nutanix’s resilience is the most valuable because it is a feature that is not found in other technologies.
The throughput and latency of Nutanix Unified Storage for data-intensive workloads, such as AI or data analytics are excellent since we have tested it and it has worked correctly as indicated for Objects. It has worked well with Veeam backups. It has been integrated without problems. The API has worked correctly and there were no problems when it came to integration. I think it is one of the features that we liked the most.
It detects and blocks ransomware threats well. The data lens themes where we have the detection of unwanted files and the exclusion policies for files that we do not want in our data work well. Perhaps it could be improved by integrating other security solutions that can improve the detection of those files.
We haven’t used Nutanix Data Lens that much but I believe the organization started using it because of the issue of counter-threats and the intention with endpoint protection solutions. As far as I have tried it, it seems to work well. The extension exclusion policies feature seems to be very valuable and the “WORM” function that keeps the data consistent as is. It seems to me that it is one of the most interesting functions it has.

View full review »The reliability and availability are the most valuable features. Reliability is important because it can run my workloads. I need to be able to take advantage of the VMs that are executing on the storage. It has to be reliable. It's also important to have the storage available for scaling VMs on demand.
We size them accordingly but there's unexpected demand. It's much easier to scale a Nutanix node. Traditional storage doesn't scale so well but Nutanix aggregates it all into one single layer.
A lot of times we use Golden Images through Citrix and the ability to make those Golden Images available through that entire storage stack is important to us.
In terms of its ability to remove silos in our company storage, we still need traditional storage but NUS provides availability and single unification. You can scale much more easily versus traditional storage.
I think Nutanix does a very good job with unified storage and they continue to innovate. As they innovate it, there are new features that you can take advantage of. There was something called Shadow Clones that didn't exist with other storages. This feature is relevant for me with what I do with Citrix using the Shadow Clones.
