What is our primary use case?

I am interested in new technologies like artificial intelligence and how it is used in my field of training and development, as well as using LinkedIn Learning to make sound business decisions. I am also interested in management and leadership upskilling opportunities, so I am looking for a mix between leadership management upskilling and new innovative technologies.

What is most valuable?

I took the learning path for using artificial intelligence in learning and development through LinkedIn Learning, which I found quite interesting. I appreciated the fact that there were a number of courses already curated for me to create this learning path and to ultimately earn the LinkedIn Learning certificate in this area. I used the different skills and resources suggested by the different subject matter experts to add to my own tool set and to look for opportunities to practice what they were advocating in my own day-to-day operations.

I found LinkedIn Learning to be quite useful in the way that it allowed me to listen to the lectures at my own pace and at my own time. I especially like the ability to offload many of the lectures so that I could listen to them when I was not in front of my computer, perhaps on my mobile phone, without necessarily being connected to the internet.

I appreciate the fact that the lessons on LinkedIn Learning are broken up into smaller chunks, which is good instructional design, and that there is some sort of assessment that happens at the end of each of those modules. I would even say there would be opportunities to do more during the modules to ensure that individuals are engaged. I appreciate the fact that I can track where I am and pick up where I left off, although I ran into several technical issues when I would switch between devices.

I appreciate the variety of the different types of lectures or courses that were offered, and I especially appreciate the curated learning path, which I thought was quite a benefit of LinkedIn Learning. That guided path for the goals that I set for myself was valuable. I suggest having performance or learning goals in mind, as there could be guidance from LinkedIn on what courses might better suit individual needs. I would recommend going in with a specific skill or knowledge that you want to pick up to avoid getting lost in the sheer volume of courses available.

What needs improvement?

One of the negative experiences I have had with LinkedIn Learning involves switching between devices, which also included different computers or browsers. I suspect that this has something to do with cookies. When I offloaded a number of lessons onto my phone using the LinkedIn Learning app, it would not synchronize back to the main platform to update what I had completed. I found that this would happen even if I was connected to the internet on my phone or on another device. I often found myself having to go back and rewatch lessons or redo quizzes that I had already completed because it had not updated or successfully saved my work and progress in the course. I found that very frustrating because there were numerous times where I had to go back and replay these lectures and redo the quizzes, whereas I really did not want to spend my time redoing the same work.

Given my background in instructional design and developing online courses specifically, I can say that LinkedIn Learning has a missed opportunity to augment the experience so that the learner has more opportunities to practice. I think that a talking head format, even if you throw in some slides every once in a while, is a very archaic way of doing online learning. I have seen through other features of competitors, like Great Courses, much more robust assessment approaches. If LinkedIn Learning wants to be more valuable, it could adjust the assessments and incorporate more interactive examples beyond the talking head setup.

I have identified several areas for improvement with LinkedIn Learning, including synchronizing between different devices, improving instructional design, particularly the assessment strategy, and increasing interactive examples. I hope to see designs that are more engaging for learners, especially the adult learners that LinkedIn Learning serves.

I reached out to customer support when I was having technical issues, but I did not find it very helpful. They directed me to a page discussing cookies and clearing them, which I had already tried.

The experience for pricing and setup costs was fine since I had individual pricing based on upgrading to LinkedIn Gold. Compared to what I have seen with other providers, I think LinkedIn Learning is competitive given the volume of content.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I have used a number of different platforms for rapid upskilling such as MasterClass, Coursera, and Great Courses. I have selected LinkedIn Learning more than others due to the variety of content and frequent updates.

What other advice do I have?

I do not deal with the IT department on this one since I go directly through LinkedIn Learning. My overall review rating for LinkedIn Learning is six out of ten.

What is our primary use case?

My usual use cases for LinkedIn Learning involve learning multiple topics rather than limiting myself to single trainings. I used to learn about QuickBooks, which I really needed for a job in London. After QuickBooks, I started using the platform for other trainings such as how to build good communication skills.

I use LinkedIn Learning to prepare a good CV. After that, I completed many programs, and even right now, I'm focusing on learning Python from the platform, which has a really good training program.

I believe this represents long-term learning, and I really appreciate that my university gave me access to LinkedIn Learning. I have learned a lot from the platform and will continue to do so in the future.

What is most valuable?

The features of LinkedIn Learning that I have found the most valuable include training and quizzes that help me review all those trainings. These quizzes allow me to recall all that I have learned through the videos, making it efficient, particularly for students. This provides a kind of long-term memory, as according to psychology, you learn something by testing it and applying it. The quizzes at the end of each chapter provide a great way to test my knowledge after completing the chapter, which I find really interesting.

Additionally, when I choose a single topic, I can find many materials to watch and select which ones are more suitable for me.

I utilize LinkedIn Learning's personalized recommendations when I choose the trainings that I really want, and it brings up some updated trainings from the topics I have already chosen. This is something really good, as whenever there is an update or a new training session added to LinkedIn Learning, it informs me so that I can pick up and update my knowledge.

LinkedIn Learning helps me in skill acquisition by providing updates about specific topics when any instructor uploads new videos. For instance, related to taxation, there are many updates, and in the field of technology, there are many new developments about AI. It brings me new videos and learning materials to help keep my knowledge updated, and that really helps.

What needs improvement?

Areas of LinkedIn Learning that could be improved or enhanced in the future include making complex topics simpler, especially for finance students learning Python without prior experience. During the training, I struggled with the exercises that required self-completion and verification of answers. For really complex topics related to technology or coding, I believe LinkedIn Learning can make it easier and provide more detailed explanations so someone with no background can follow along with less struggle.

The impact of real-world project examples on my learning experience is evident in the initial training I started with LinkedIn Learning about QuickBooks. The training is quite clear and concise, helping me apply the knowledge I gained through training in my job tasks. When I face challenges, I just go back and open the videos to revise that part and check whether I'm doing it right or not. It helps in practical life, and I strongly recommend it for international students who don't have much experience in software and soft skills, as they can build their soft skills in their resumes through LinkedIn Learning.

Interactive quizzes have significantly helped reinforce my learning outcomes because after watching several videos for each training chapter, I need to take a quiz. This quiz helps me remember all those videos from beginning to end. If I skip the quizzes after just watching the videos, I may forget what I learned, but with the quiz, it recalls everything, helping build long-term memory so I will remember it forever.

I have experienced great benefits from LinkedIn Learning's course updates in keeping up with industry trends, as it provides knowledge and practical application of that knowledge. It gives the impression to employers that I'm the kind of person who is self-driven and capable of learning tasks by myself, without needing guidance from anyone else. This has many benefits for students, professionals, and anyone looking to improve their skill set.

I think the stability and reliability of LinkedIn Learning are crucial since it is used by many students and professionals. It should provide reliable resources and avoid any unreliable knowledge that is not verified, as instructors and trainings should be reviewed. The knowledge transferred to students and professionals will have a direct impact on their careers. I find that the products I used are reliable, trustworthy, and delivered in a professional manner, being based on the job market.

I rate LinkedIn Learning a nine out of ten overall. I give it a nine because although it's really good, some trainings are very complex and could be made simpler. Everything else is really good. Whenever I find spare time, I spend it on LinkedIn Learning.

Working with charts and graphs in Excel is of interest to me. I recently took an introductory course in Power Query and Power Pivot, trying to learn all these things.

What is most valuable?

What I appreciate about LinkedIn Learning is that it's generally easy to follow, though this depends on the instructor. There's an ability to fast forward or rewind for 10 seconds, so if you miss something, it's easy to have it repeated so it can sink in.

I find it helpful to use the exercise files that are provided with the course, and I often find myself jumping back and forth between the exercise file and the actual course itself, so I have to pause the course to try and do what I've seen on the screen to make sure that I understand and can do it.

I find it beneficial overall that they provide these updates when it comes to the different trends in the market.

What needs improvement?

Maybe a pause in the course to give the audience the opportunity to work a little bit more with the exercise files would be an improvement in LinkedIn Learning. I pause it myself currently.

I have not used any other training platforms apart from LinkedIn Learning. I participate from time to time in free webinars, but I haven't subscribed to anything else.

I'm a LinkedIn premium user, so I get LinkedIn Learning as part of my LinkedIn premium membership. I think it's reasonable because you get unlimited access for the whole year and it's probably not much more than a few hundred dollars.

What other advice do I have?

I would advise others considering LinkedIn Learning to take a shot at it and give it a try to see how they respond to it. I would give LinkedIn Learning about an eight on a scale of one to 10, where 10 is the best.

I normally use LinkedIn Learning to connect with recruiters, for job searching, and posting my views on LinkedIn.

What is most valuable?

What I appreciate most about LinkedIn Learning is that it is easy to understand, user-friendly, and the concepts are clarified very nicely with examples, anecdotes, and other elements. It is not just theory or historical data; it gives you the real-world picture of soft skills and other requirements when growing up the career ladder for leadership and other activities.

LinkedIn Learning has been helping me significantly. It has improved my confidence during interviews. I was not aware of the concept called premortem until using the platform. Whenever you have a scheduled meeting with leadership in your company or with outsiders, it makes you better prepared by showing you a way of looking at what will happen in a meeting before it occurs. This preparation ensures you are not surprised during the meeting.

What needs improvement?

The benefits I have experienced from LinkedIn Learning's course updates in keeping up with industry trends include pharmaceutical topics that could be added. While it helps nicely with leadership qualities and management tools, they are not subject-specific. Adding subject-specific content in LinkedIn Learning, such as quality management systems from industry experts would be beneficial.

Regarding other improvements, I suggest making content more specific to different fields. LinkedIn has numerous professionals from various sectors, from hospitality to any other industry. While it would be difficult to segment into minute segments, focusing on the top five global businesses would be helpful. For example, pharmaceutical, hospitality, and automobile industries are among the biggest businesses. This way, users can access learning specific to their field, and the platform can suggest relevant topics alongside general learning content.

The initial setup process of LinkedIn Learning began with a suggestion. I started with a topic about how leaders think. After becoming interested in the subject, I browsed it regularly, and now I access it through the learning section on the LinkedIn platform whenever I have time.

I did not evaluate other options before choosing LinkedIn Learning. I simply decided to explore it, found it interesting, and continued using it.

What other advice do I have?

The interactive quizzes in LinkedIn Learning are very effective. Until you clear the quiz, you don't receive the certificate. This requirement ensures you must review or study the topic again to fully understand it.

I engage with LinkedIn Learning weekly when possible, though professional commitments can make this difficult. I aim to complete at least one segment per month.

I track improvement in my skills through self-implementation. If I identify an area needing improvement, I apply what I've learned in my next meeting.

Regarding pricing and licensing, LinkedIn Learning is fairly priced. However, consideration could be given to reducing prices for the APAC region, third world countries, and Africa, where pharmaceutical and other segments are improving.

Improvements to My Organization

Our Project Manager invited us to a meeting to ask our opinions about implementing Microsoft Project, and since I hadn't worked on it I was apprehensive. I went through the first few videos of the MS Project course in Lynda.com and there I was ready to hit the meeting with the basic know-how of MS Project.

Room for Improvement

iOS and Android apps need to go through a lot of improvement to match the web experience.

The ability to watch videos in 2x speed is a valuable feature, Being able to Tweet content would be useful.

The content itself, but also the ability to watch the videos in 2x speed and get transcripts.

In particular the UX course has really helped my skill set and I am directly using those skills in my role as a Community Manager on the Cisco Learning Network each and every day.
