What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is highly stable. I've never faced any issues accessing it. It's never crashed and I've never seen bugs or glitches.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution allows for one terabyte of data. In terms of personal use, that is quite enough for me. I don't need more than that. I don't think I will need to scale in the future.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I didn't previously use another cloud storage solution. Google Cloud Storage was my first platform.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is very straightforward. It's already set up when you sign up for your email account. There's absolutely nothing a person needs to do. You just drag and drop in files and that's it.

What about the implementation team?

I handled everything myself. I did not need the assistance of a consultant or integrator.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The solution is free to use and comes with one terabyte of free memory. If you need more than that, you may have to pay.

What other advice do I have?

Due to its general user-friendliness, I'd rate the solution nine out of ten overall.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Private Cloud

Easy to use and makes our information accessible to everybody in the company
Pros and Cons
  • "The most valuable features are the ease and accessibility of information."
  • "The user interface could be more intuitive."

What is most valuable?

The most valuable features are the ease and accessibility of information.

What needs improvement?

It would be good to have more storage space.

The user interface could be more intuitive.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Google Cloud Storage for a few months.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Google Cloud Storage is stable, although, on two occasions, all of the privileges were lost on one or more of our folders. We did not lose any data but it required that we reconfigure. Nobody here had made any changes, and just instantly we saw that we did not have access to one or more of the folders.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I'm not sure about the scalability because if we want more storage then we have to pay for that. We may have to subscribe to another package, but I believe that it's quite easily scalable.

There are six people in my office who use this solution.

How are customer service and technical support?

We have never had to make a request for support.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Better pricing would be helpful.

What other advice do I have?

This is a good solution and I would recommend it to others. However, better pricing or more storage would be an improvement.

I would rate this solution an eight out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Public Cloud

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

Google

An easily scalable solution that enables us to access our data anywhere, anytime
Pros and Cons
  • "The feature we've found most valuable is the ability to access our data anywhere, anytime."
  • "User management could be better. It's complicated process to delete users and maintain the structure of documents created by deleted users."

What is our primary use case?

We primarily use the solution for sharing and storing our corporate data.

What is most valuable?

The feature we've found most valuable is the ability to access our data anywhere, anytime.

The security on the solution is perfect and the integration with email and email hosting is great.

What needs improvement?

User management could be better. It's a complicated process to delete users and maintain the structure of documents created by deleted users.

The solution needs backup and archival functionality. We had an instance where our account renewal was not done in time and we lost information. Archival and backup can be expanded upon, by providing archival/backup services within the google cloud solution. It would save us from using a third party for our cloud backup, which is what we are currently doing.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using the solution for five years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is very, very stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution is very scalable. We've had to increase our storage crate and it was very straightforward. On average we have about 10 users. We're a growing organization, and we intend to increase the number in the future.

How are customer service and technical support?

We're satisfied with technical support. We've had the opportunity to use the technical forum and to request their support. They were very responsive to our needs.

How was the initial setup?

The solution's setup is straightforward. Initially, there were some issues with synchronization and so on but I think they are continually improving, so it's getting better and better.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The price is fair. Even when you compare it to the competition, I'd say the value we get for every dollar we spend is very good.

They have different costs and options for scalability and functionality. We started off with the free edition and then we went for the corporate edition and the business edition, and we've since increased. They have lots of options for various types of users.

What other advice do I have?

We are using the public cloud deployment model.

I would rate the solution nine out of ten. We are very happy with the services that we are getting. We've been using it for 5 years and apart from the backup issue, we use it every day and we've really got no issues.

I would definitely recommend it to any business if they're looking at taking their business into a more agile environment, or if they are scaling or reducing costs. There's definitely a lot of routes to reduce cost, and to reduce the risk of having your own infrastructure that you need to protect, and need to manage. It also reduces the complexity of the management of data storage.

Offers many tools and you can put as much information as you like on it because you pay according to usage
Pros and Cons
  • "What I like about this program, is that it's quite fast, because you pay for your usage."
  • "I would also like to be able to use my own tools and packages within this solution and also have a tool to visualize the data with graphics."

What is our primary use case?

We basically use this solution to store our data, run our mobiles, and link our data.

What is most valuable?

What I like about this program, is that it's quite fast, because you pay for your usage. What's more, it is an easy solution to use. It has many tools that you can use, and you can put as much information as you like on there because you pay according to usage.

The scalability of this solution is also very valuable for us.

What needs improvement?

I would like to see an improvement in data visualization as well as new tools to manage storage in any platform. I think Google already has this solution for management. If you have a data set in Amazon, you must be able to manage it with a Google tool and that's a good improvement.

I would also like to be able to use my own tools and packages within this solution and also have a tool to visualize the data with graphics.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using this solution for six months now.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is very stable and we've had no issues with it so far.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Scalability is one of the most important features for us because we use this feature for our mobile docs. Google Cloud Storage is used by four to five people in our company daily and it is scalable enough for us. The query function is one of the main tools we use. We definitely plan to keep using this product in the future.

How are customer service and technical support?

We have our own technical department so whenever I have an issue, I contact them and they fix my problem. So I haven't used the Google support team yet.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Previously, I used my phone for data and analytics. I think that Amazon has more features and it is easier to find people who have worked with the phone tools before. However, for data analytics, I prefer Google Cloud because I think it's a stronger solution for data and analytics.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was really straightforward. We've had more than one deployment because we use this solution for deployments every month.

What other advice do I have?

I rate this solution nine out of ten. The reason why I don't give it a ten is because of the data visualization. In the next version, I would like to have a tool to visualize the data with graphics and so on.

Keeps customer data secure and well managed
Pros and Cons
  • "The most valuable feature is the cryptographic technology."
  • "The implementation is not as easy as Microsoft, and the process could be improved."

What is our primary use case?

Our primary use case for this solution is the implementation for our customers. Depending on what our customer's needs are, and if they use a solution that needs storage then we will implement the solution with Google Cloud Storage.

Our company is not developing cloud technology at the moment but we are using Google Cloud Storage and Microsoft Windows 10.

We help our customers with the digital transformation from their own data center to Google Cloud Storage.

When you are changing environments there are many things to consider and we help our customers in the transition.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature is the cryptographic technology. Our customers are afraid that their data will be across the world, and they want to know that their data is secure and managed. They don't want anyone having access to their data.

What needs improvement?

They could improve their storage and stay current.

It is very easy to use Google Cloud Storage, easy to implement, but it is not very flexible when it comes to modifying the parameters.

The level of storage, the level of technology, and the level of services could also be improved.

The implementation is not as easy as Microsoft, and the process could be improved.

We would like to see the implementation of better identity management.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using this solution for one year.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

We don't have any issues with stability.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

This solution is scalable.

We have technical resources for each customer, however, the same technical resource could be used for ten to fifteen customers at the same time.

We don't have a lot of problems with managing Google Cloud Storage. You can share resources, and human resources can manage the Google cloud for fifteen customers. It would be like overbooking of resources.

We have other competent centers for Unix, for Windows, and storage, but for the Google Cloud Storage, we are a team of fifteen developers to manage it.

How are customer service and technical support?

We have not contacted Google for technical support. We have resolved issues by ourselves.  The solution is related to the customer, so we don't use exotic solutions. We use the standard, Google Storage. Fortunately, we haven't had any issues.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I am using AWS, Google, and Microsoft.

In the last six months to a year, my experience has been with using Google Cloud Storage, Amazon, and Azure.

I have taken courses and completed the exams at an architectural level.

I also have experience in Linux, Microsoft environment, VMware for development, and I have practiced with Storage Technologies. I have over twenty years experience and I used to implement networks in Europe and South America. This includes ten years of experience as a developer and project management.

I was a developer in C++, Visual Basic, and I have used Lotus Notes. Currently, I am working with a solution company that offers software solutions and has its own data center.

We are outsourcing for a government client and we manage seven hundred servers.

We have twelve servers in our data center and I am involved with the solution and the movement of the server in our data center from Rome to Pont Saint Martin another city five hundred miles from Rome.

We have used storage technologies, Dell EMC, and we have used VMware for virtualization.

I am supporting another company working in the Airport in completing a Bid for its data center. I am assisting with the writing of the documentation and taking care of the documentation to execute the Bid.

We also use Microsoft for Identity Management, and we consider it to be better.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup in the Google environment is always a nightmare because you have to implement the solution for the customer. You have to take care of the customer's needs, including the movement of workloads from the data center to the cloud environment. Part of the reason it is complex is that you have to understand the applications the customer uses and assess the suitability for a cloud environment.

Most of the errors are made during the setup and implementation, or by having to change the implementation because you have incorrectly estimated the consumption of CPU or storage resources.

The deployment takes three to four months, after which you begin to see immediately if the solution is okay or if you have some problems.

The deployment method was with a hybrid cloud. It is not public, as our customers do not want their data on the public cloud. We use the hybrid cloud because they have their own data center, and they move the workloads and they move the data in the cloud environment. It is a hybrid cloud configuration.

What about the implementation team?

Our company is an integrator in a way because we have two thousand people developing software, so we integrate too.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

When making the decision the customer is not driven by the price. They are interested in using a well-known and reliable service provider. Our customers don't know the technology, so, we do that for them.

They know that the pricing is comparable with Azure, AWS, and those other solutions like Amazon are cheaper, but they are not as flexible.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

VMware, OpenStack, and all of the technology related to the cloud.

At the moment, I suppose that technology is moving to the cloud. We are using cloud technologies, not related to VMware, OpenStack, or a vendor, but related to a service provider.

What other advice do I have?

I have over ten years of experience with project management.

I would recommend this product. It's a good product.

Technology is improving and is more exciting. For example, IoT, which is somewhat related to Google Cloud Storage, is another technology that is improving with storage.

We prefer Microsoft to Google because it is easier for the customer to understand.

Nineteen percent of our customers use an Active Directory and visit Microsoft Technology. It is easier to move with the Active Directory in the cloud than with Microsoft Technology.

We have a relationship with Microsoft but we have a partnership with Google to have a relationship with the cloud providers.

I would rate this solution a nine out of ten. I never rate anyone a ten.

I was trying to close the gap using CloudBerry in conjunction with Google Cloud Storage.

This is a public cloud deployment model.

How has it helped my organization?

Using this solution has improved the security of our data.

What is most valuable?

This is a reliable solution.

What needs improvement?

The user experience needs to be simplified.

It is difficult to configure.

For how long have I used the solution?

We performed a trial of this solution for between one and two months.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

This is a stable solution.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

This is a scalable solution and you can scale it as you want.

How are customer service and technical support?

I have not had contact with technical support.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We did not use another solution prior to this one. I selected this one because I have experience with other Google services such as Gmail and Google Docs. There was familiarity.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup of this solution was very simple. For this use case, we only needed S3 storage. The implementation involved defining three buckets, copying the information inside the CloudBerry console, and then installing the CloudBerry client on my desktop. The process took approximately four hours.

What about the implementation team?

I took care of the deployment myself. It was very easy.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I did not evaluate other options before choosing this one. However, I will be looking at Microsoft Azure, Amazon, and other cloud storage services.

We are also considering migration to a private cloud service in Italy.

What other advice do I have?

This is a good solution because it's established and reliable, although it is not so simple to configure.

I would rate this solution an eight out of ten.

Good features and performance and is really easy to use
Pros and Cons
  • "Their technical support is good and very professional."
  • "They need to get some parts of the program more mature, like the admin management part as well as the monitoring part."

What is our primary use case?

Our primary use case for this solution is that we are implementing a software for a insurance company, and everything is implemented and running on the Google Cloud Platform, like the database and the cloud engine.

How has it helped my organization?

When we first started using Google Cloud Storage, our developemnt team was not very experienced with any form of cloud, and I must say that it was really easy to adapt the way of working with the cloud and the flexibility that Google Cloud provides. So I can say that the solution meets our requirements.

What is most valuable?

What I like most about this solution, is the scalability and performance.

What needs improvement?

I would like to see an improvement in the management or admin pages, because at times it is not easy to work with them. Also, I like an improvement in the IAM part of the Google Cloud . They need to get some parts of the program more mature, like the admin pages  as well as the monitoring part.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using this solution for a year now.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability of the solution is impressive.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We have never experienced any problems with scaling or performance of the system. It is an internal application used by about 80 of our employees. We do plan to increase usage.

How are customer service and technical support?

Their technical support is good and very professional.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have worked with Amazon Web Service because it is easy to work on, but it all depends on the customer charge.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was very straightforward. We did have some minor problems, but we got support from Google directly. We used Google's technical support team. Since then deployment has been an ongoing process with us.

What about the implementation team?

We are solution partners for this vendor.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We did evaluate other options before choosing Google Cloud Storage, like Amazon Web Service and Microsoft Azure

What other advice do I have?

My advice to others would be to do a good assessment of the solution related to IT communication with the Google Cloud. It can all be very confusing at first, so it is really important to work in collaboration with Google. After that is will be very easy to work on. I will rate this solution an eight out of ten.
