For how long have I used the solution?

4 years

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

We have never had an issue.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We just doubled it in size it was painless.

How are customer service and support?

The technical support is fantastic and proactive.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Our previous platform did not support SAP.

The driver for us to implement Pure Storage in our SAP landscape was that it was SAP certified.  Additionally, it had really good numbers and reviews.

How was the initial setup?

We plugged it in, and in an hour, we were using it. It is very straightforward and simple.

What about the implementation team?

We deployed it in-house.

What was our ROI?

We did not displace any other technology with the Pure Storage purchase so it's doesn't have a traditional dollar ROI.  From an intangible standpoint the lack of care and feeding is notable and freed up the Storage Team to do other things.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Pure Storage has not helped us to reduce our licensing costs.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We looked at Pure Storage, EMC and HPE. We chose Pure Storage because of its innovation.

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend the product.

Integrates seamlessly with major platforms while offering tight integration with backup software for faster restores
Pros and Cons
  • "I find two features of Pure Storage most valuable. The first is the "safe mode" function, and the second is its simplicity."
  • "The primary drawback is the cost, which can be prohibitive for small configurations."

What is our primary use case?

Our customers primarily use Pure Storage for virtualization, whether it is VMware or Hyper-V. They choose Pure Storage for its high-performance, low-latency, and reliable all-flash arrays, which are essential for efficiently running virtualized workloads, including critical applications, databases, and virtual machines.

What is most valuable?

I find two features of Pure Storage most valuable. The first is the "safe mode" function, and the second is its simplicity. I value its simplicity and artificial intelligence monitoring. It also integrates seamlessly with major platforms like VMware, Microsoft Hyper-V, and Microsoft SQL, while offering tight integration with backup software for faster restores. This connectivity promotes cyber resilience and can be leveraged for disaster recovery solutions.

What needs improvement?

I don't see any major issues with Pure Storage, but one thing to note is that Pure Storage can be seen as a premium product, and other vendors are catching up in terms of performance and features. However, overall, the feature set and performance are excellent.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Pure Storage FlashArray for two and a half years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is highly stable, especially if you follow recommended patching and software upgrades. Pure Storage offers an officially published uptime guarantee, ensuring device stability, which is legally binding.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Pure Storage is very scalable. Even the smallest model can be successfully upgraded all the way to the largest model, which is a feature I haven't seen with other solutions.

How are customer service and support?

Pure Storage's tech support is excellent. They use AI effectively, and their support team is highly reliable and responsive. Our customers have experienced no issues with their support.

How was the initial setup?

Setting up Pure Storage is incredibly easy. You just plug it in, connect it to the network, and start building your storage – it is that simple. Deployment takes less than a day. Deployment is straightforward and typically manageable by a single person or resource. However, when lifting heavier equipment, like the larger Pure Storage units, it is recommended to have two people, but the rest of the setup can be accomplished via servers. Maintenance is straightforward. Once it is connected to the internet and secure communication is enabled, it sends monitoring data to Kubernetes and artificial intelligence in the cloud, providing early warnings of potential issues. This cloud-based AI can often assess the health of your device better than you can.

What was our ROI?

Our customers see a return on investment and value for their money with Pure Storage. They measure it through methods like net present value and comparisons to the weighted accumulated cost of capital, which provide a robust financial assessment.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

It has a flexible, pay-as-you-go option. The primary drawback is the cost, which can be prohibitive for small configurations, but this is the only major downside.

What other advice do I have?

My advice for new users is to not be afraid to start using it from day one, but take the time to educate yourself on all the valuable features available to make the most of it. Since it is a significant investment, ensure you manage and protect the asset effectively. Overall, I would rate Pure Storage FlashArray as a ten out of ten.

Provides great performance, is powerful with high-speed duplication
Pros and Cons
  • "Provides fast access and is user-friendly."
  • "Self-backup is the only feature lacking in this solution."

What is our primary use case?

I work for a company that offers outsourcing services for IT solutions. I work in system support and we are resellers of Pure Storage FlashArray

What is most valuable?

I'm a Pure Storage fan because I think this solution offers great performance. It provides fast access, is user-friendly and it's easy for us to support this product. The product is also very powerful with high-speed duplication which makes it easier to manage things. I understand that there is a new version of system operation that includes a self-protect configuration to avoid getting hacked. It's crucial for us here in Brazil where we need to be safe.

What needs improvement?

The only feature the solution lacks is self-backup. If you're working with different processors, you need to install different software tools to back up. But if it were directly available, it would make things very easy.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using this solution for five years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is stable, we haven't had any problems in five years.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

How are customer service and support?

We have a close relationship with customer support and they are good.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is very easy, there aren't any problems.

What other advice do I have?

I rate this solution 10 out of 10.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

They have a complete replication set, including near-zero RTO and zero RPO
Pros and Cons
  • "I like FlashArray's ActiveCluster as well as its snapshot and cloning capabilities."
  • "Pure support is very proactive, they monitor our infrastructure in real-time, so they respond before we even open a ticket."

What is our primary use case?

We use FlashArray for proofs of concept and to bring the clients our infrastructure to test them. We have six clients using the solution. Most of them are using the ActiveCluster configuration.

    What is most valuable?

I like FlashArray's ActiveCluster as well as its snapshot and cloning capabilities. The performance is extremely good. They have a complete replication set, including near-zero RTO and zero RPO. FlashArray integrates with all the new microservices technologies. It integrates with many products like Oracle, Cisco, Veeam, and Rubrik.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using FlashArray for four years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

FlashArray is highly stable. We don't have very many tickets in our support system. The non-disruptive upgrade works fine. We did a lot of this work for our clients without any problems. The flash disks are solid. In fact, we have very few issues with this infrastructure.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Scalability doesn't require much work. The expansions are immediately used. We install more disks, which are automatically assigned to the volumes and the files.

How are customer service and support?

Pure support is very proactive. They monitor our infrastructure in real-time, so they respond before we even open a ticket.

    How was the initial setup?

Deploying FlashArray is fast and straightforward. We can deploy the infrastructure in half an hour, but installing all the other things takes about two hours to provide the disk to the host. We don't need any help. We integrate the infrastructure with other vendors like Cisco, Veeam, Microsoft Hyper-V, etc., and it works fine. We only need one engineer to deploy FlashArray, but we have three Pure-certified engineers on our team.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Pure Storage doesn't have licenses. You buy the hardware, and all the software is included. The price of FlashArray is very competitive.

What other advice do I have?

I rate Pure Storage FlashArray 10 out of 10. If you are considering FlashArray, you can try and buy. Most clients who try the solution ultimately buy the product.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

    On-premises

    • "We would like to be able to connect to data tape for backup, specifically to the LTO backups."
    • "We would like to be able to connect to data tape for backup, specifically to the LTO backups."

    What is most valuable?

The experience has been very good so far for the company. It's very fast and it's very easy to configure the storage.

    It's very efficient.

The snapshot feature is great. It's very easy to apply. You can see present error applications by going back using snapshot. It's very good for the company.

We haven't had any problems with it in the time we've used it.

    I like the user interface.

    Support has been helpful.

We have no issues with pricing.

    Integration is easy.

The initial setup is simple. It's easy to deploy using the whitepapers on offer.

I've been using the solution for three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability is good and we haven't had any issues with it. There are no bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The scalability is possible. It's pretty simple to just add more storage as needed. We plan to do so next year. Our impression is that it will be an easy process.

We have about 2,000 users at this time. It may even be as high as 10,000 when you factor in academic users.

How are customer service and support?

Technical support has been good. We haven't had any issues so far with them. We are satisfied with the level of service.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

In the past, we had an IBM storage device, however, when we compare this old storage with the Flash Pure, it's just so much better.

    How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is very simple. We have experience in using the storage and using the new Flash Pure Storage is even easier. It's quite an intuitive solution, which makes the setup process a breeze.

It takes about six months to move from old to new storage.

There are seven people on half that can handle the deployment process.

    What about the implementation team?

Our organization did use an IT consultant to assist us with the implementation.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The pricing is okay. We pay to license on a yearly basis. It's just a standard fee with no extra costs.

What other advice do I have?

We are a user and a customer.

While right now we are using an on-premises deployment, we likely will move to the cloud.

I'd rate the solution at a ten out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

    On-premises
