We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"One good feature is SoapUI's URL check, which allows you to check among the applications. I'm not just talking about the ones for Android. It has all kinds of multi-world tests that are really helpful.""SoapUI is uncomplicated and user-friendly.""The solution scales well.""The most valuable features are that it is user-friendly, it's easy to use and easy to teach to others.""The product allows us to uncover any potential issues early on.""The tool’s scalability is very good.""ReadyAPI has the power to enrich all the technical work. You can achieve any complex task using ReadyAPI. I can also do UI automation with ReadyAPI. In a few test cases, we want to check the API and the equivalent UI. I download a job and write a piece of Groovy or Java code. It's almost the same in ReadyAPI. I can do that in a single test case. ReadyAPI is a powerful tool because you can do anything you want, but only you need to download the right set of jobs and produce the right set of code.""The utmost importance lies in the performance of the application."

"The scalability is a valuable feature of Tricentis Tosca.""The mainframe testing and UI automation are the most valuable aspects of the solution.""The most valuable feature of Tricentis Tosca is the Tosca Commander. Functionality is another thing I find most valuable in the solution.""It's a simple tool, particularly in terms of system testing. You can also convert and automate using Tricentis Tosca with ease.""Very user-friendly and the low code automation is really helpful.""With one click, it will scan all the elements on the screen, so that the user can select the required elements for automation tests.""The low code is the best feature.""The initial setup isn't too difficult."

"The most valuable feature is the in-built support for C# and .NET projects.""The most valuable features of Visual Studio Test Professional are the IntelliSense and the ease of adding the NuGet packages.""User-friendly ID and direct integration with GitHub are the most valuable.""The solution is easy to use and they have also integrated with Microsoft.""I was satisfied with the support given by customer service.""Code testing is the most valuable feature of this solution for developing software.""One of the best documentation in the world.""Visual Studio Test Professional is a scalable solution."

Cons
"Occasionally, when you are saving, the solution can hang.""Grouping of the cases is not possible in SoapUI, to my knowledge. When working with critical cases or the, we were not able to group them properly. We can definitely create a suite and add them there, but within a whole suite, we have to identify them, which was not easy.""The UI could be a bit more flexible.""Could integrate the graphing module for load testing.""We tried automation but it's not easy to integrate with the synching and some of the mission tools that we use for automated testing of APIs.""It is limited to scope and risk services only. It does have some support for JMS, but it is not out-of-the-box; you have to do some tweaks here and there.""Stability has been an issue for us. It needs to be looked at and made a bit better.""SoapUI would benefit from some more customization abilities. It's a good interface, but it would be nice if they added the ability to build custom dashboards where the user can do their own bar graphs and pie charts."

More ReadyAPI Test Cons →

"Their license management should be improved. One of our customers is a global customer. They want to use one licensed server and then split the licenses based on the different users of the different business units, but currently, there is only one license server that everybody can access. There is no control, and that's why sometimes congestion can happen.""Not being able to mask test data in relation to testing data management, in my opinion, is also a limitation.""Tosca's reporting features could be better. Tricentis had a reporting tool called Analytics, but it didn't function properly after they reworked it. After that, they tried a new approach with key-tracing, and that didn't work.""The source controls that are in Tricentis Tosca have some problems. For example, if you use Selenium or use Java-based application, it's easy to match code from two developers. However, if you're a developer and going to look at Tricentis Tosca, it's very difficult to use the source control measure.""They need to improve on the reports after the execution of automation tests, since all the current organizations are looking for detailed graphical reports.""One thing to improve in Tricentis Tosca is that it's not compatible with Excel based forms. Another area for improvement is that the tool is not compatible with OpenText applications. The support and licensing cost for it also need improvement. The tool also needs cloud support, as it's currently on-premises only.""I have found that some of the functions could be missed in the solution for new users. They are not obviously present.""Security, UI, and basic performance improvements could be done to the product to enhance its use."

More Tricentis Tosca Cons →

"The product must provide more automation.""Its UI could be better.""The solution's documentation could be improved because it keeps disappearing from the solution.""The product must provide more integration.""It needs more integration with other tools for monitoring. Microsoft also needs to make it more modern to make it work with microservices and the cloud. It is a bit outdated currently.""It is not good in terms of performance. When you open Visual Studio, you have to wait for a while to process your code. It uses a lot of resources and has a lot of features. If we could disable some of the features, it would be lighter and faster to use. Nowadays, for some of the projects, we use VS Code for JavaScript or Python. VS Code is very light and easy to use, whereas, in Visual Studio, we have to wait because it takes time to compile or run a project. It has a lot of competitors in terms of performance, such as Intelligent ID. Intelligent ID is very easy to use. It has many features, and it is lighter to use than Visual Studio. In terms of error handling, sometimes, it shows an error before you finish your code, which can be improved. It would be good if it has a version for Linux. I use VS Code on Linux, but I am not sure if Visual Studio has a version for Linux.""Sometimes Visual Studio is slow. It uses a lot of resources like memory and processing power. You should optimize the performance by only installing what you need on your machine. Don't install unnecessary things that will slow your machine.""We would like to be able to easily integrate this solution with our continuous integration tools, such as Jenkins."

Visual Studio Professional Edition provides an IDE for all supported development languages. As of Visual Studio 2010, the Standard edition was dropped. MSDN support is available as MSDN Essentials or the full MSDN library depending on licensing. It supports XML and XSLT editing, and can create deployment packages that only use ClickOnce and MSI. It includes tools like Server Explorer and integration with Microsoft SQL Server also. Windows Mobile development support was included in Visual Studio 2005 Standard, however, with Visual Studio 2008, it is only available in Professional and higher editions. Windows Phone 7 development support was added to all editions in Visual Studio 2010. Development for Windows Mobile is no longer supported in Visual Studio 2010; it is superseded by Windows Phone 7.
