Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The solution can scale well.""The dashboard I have found the most valuable in Fortinet FortiGate.""Some of the valuable features are the firewall, IPS, web filter, and gateway capabilities. Additionally, it is easy to use and flexible.""The security features are about the best that I've seen anywhere.""Using this product makes the VPN seamless and almost invisible to me in the sense that I don't have to think about it.""The features that we have found most valuable are the SSL VPN and the User Portal.""The payment function for applications is good.""We have been able to offer several services to customers in a single box."

"The feature that we like the most about Forcepoint is that we know the technology and have confidence in it. We can have several functionalities to simplify operations and management. We can combine functionalities like log ownership to review the number of devices in the infrastructure.""Forcepoint is a complete package because it has network and systems applications. Other firewalls are only for the network.""Next Generation Firewall's best feature is that it can be managed on one platform.""The simplicity of the solution is its most valuable asset. It's very user-friendly.""One of the most valuable features is having the ability to cluster multiple firewalls even if they are different versions.""The Forcepoint Next Generation Firewall is a scalable product.""Forcepoint is a good, stable solution.""Technical support has been quite helpful in the past."

"The most valuable feature is alerting.""It integrates well with other solutions and provides good threat intelligence in terms of external threats.""I am impressed with the tool's integration of Palo Alto products which serves as a platform for security.""The feature that I like best is the dashboard.""The logs play a crucial role as they contribute to blocking unwanted Internet traffic."

Cons
"There are some problems that support cannot give you a logical reason as to why it happened. For example, I had a case where I was dealing with a WhatsApp application that was giving issues. Technical support gave more than one reason it could be giving issues, but none of them solved the problem. Eventually I solved the problem, but it was far from the solutions that support had given.""We would like to see better pricing.""The cloud features and integration could be improved.""Usually, we sell the bundle with the UTM or threat management piece with IPS, IDS. Other providers, such as Palo Alto, are ahead in terms of safe functionality. So, for me, delivering truly safe service is probably something that still needs to be improved.""To some degree, it's almost a question as to why some of this stuff isn't simpler. For example, for an AP deployment, while it's integrated, the number of steps that you have to go through in order to get the AP up, seems like a lot.""They need faster serviceability and more security features.""Fortinet could improve the windows opener or the virtual IP solutions for opening windows. The virtual IP settings need improvement as firewalls are trending in new development directions.""I would like to see improvements made to the dashboard and UI, as well as to the reporting."

More Fortinet FortiGate Cons →

"They should provide more details on potential cyber threats.""Something that I've noticed that Forcepoint lacks, is the training that they offer to their end-customers""You do need knowledge of the solution in order to set the product up properly.""Making this solution easier to use would be an improvement.""If I want to allow access to Facebook, yet not allow the user to access videos, then I am not able to do it with this product.""Forcepoint Next Generation Firewall could change its interface, allowing standard or direct connect modes to be configured.""We feel the product's technical support could be better, as this relates to the solution itself, to the installation of the product, and to having a proper understanding of the case.""They should have a GUI on the product itself, not a separate management tool to be used on the management server or on a server to be used to manage the file. It should be all in one device. The device should be controlled through its own GUI. They also have to improve the learning center and the documents as the documents don't really help."

More Forcepoint Next Generation Firewall Cons →

"It would be helpful to have better documentation for configuring and installing the solution.""It is a completely cloud-based product at present.""I would like the tool to see more integration with Cortex XDR. There is no real reason to keep them separate.""It would be better if they used the threat intelligence feeds directly from their side and changing the verdict instead of us requesting it.""I would like to have more technical documentation that contains greater detail on the types of threats that are occurring."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "Fortinet has one or two license types, and the VPN numbers are only limited by the hardware chassis make."
  • "These boxes are not that expensive compared to what they can do, their functionality, and the reporting you receive. Fortinet licensing is straightforward and less confusing compared to Cisco."
  • "Go for long term pricing negotiated at the time of purchase."
  • "Work through partners for the best pricing."
  • "The value is the capability of having multiple services with one unique license, not having the limitation per user licensing schema, like other vendors."
  • "Easy to understand licensing requirements."
  • "We saved a bundle by not needing all the past appliances from an NGFW."
  • "The cost is too high... They have to focus on more features with less cost for the customer. If you see the market, where it's going, there are a lot of players offering more features for less cost."

  • "The big advantage of this solution is that we can select the right model for our requirements, which is not too expensive."
  • "I believe the licensing fee is for one year, three years, and five years, or something like that. If you wants to increase the support level from a simpler level to platinum, I think that there's a cost. There are differences between every kind of support, but I don't know the numbers."
  • "We would love to take other solution from Forcepoint, but unfortunately the price is too high. That's why we are not considering using Forcepoing for our proxy and DLB. They have a very good DLB, but the matter in the end is the cost."
  • "Forcepoint is very expensive but it's really secure."
  • "It is expensive."
  • "The training that they offer to their end-customers. It's quite expensive, I believe it costs roughly $11,000"
  • "Everything in Forcepoint comes with an individual license, which is kind of a problem. In our last meeting, they said that it may change at the beginning of 2021, and they will try to merge some licenses together. Customers will get more features than what they got previously. We will wait and see."
  • "We have found the price could be reduced. It is a little expensive."
