Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Not everyone has agents for everything and Commvault has agents for most products. It's the most complete.""Commvault can actually come in and assist you with aspects of the implementation - and they are quite helpful.""There are many valuable features of Commvault HyperScale X giving many possibilities to complete jobs.""The rate of duplication is great.""They have a strong development team and are market leaders in the space.""Complete Data Protection is convenient because you can manage various types of databases, and it's pretty easy to set it up.""The solution has the fastest backup and better licensing.""The most valuable feature is Commvault's coverage. It has wide coverage to back up every data center environment. The product can back up OpenStack, OpenShift, and competitive solutions don't have this feature. Commvault can handle backing up any virtual workload or enterprise application."

Cons
"The only problem is that some of what we snap most of is the VMs. We found about 10% of the VMs that we can't snap because they're too interactive. It actually causes the application to crash.""I think the one thing that could be improved is the customer experience. The interface should be more user friendly.""We are using a production environment with customer-sensitive data on it. As per our central bank rules and regulations, we can't keep our customer's sensitive data in the cloud.""The customer support is not good.""Not everyone has agents for everything and Commvault has agents for most products. It's the most complete.""Could be easier to implement.""I would like them to keep working on the new web interface to migrate out of the old interface because the old interface is a bit complex. It was driving customers away because of the complexity. If they migrate everything (100 percent of the features), this would make the product be perfect.""Support could improve and the initial configuration would be easier with assistance from a professional engineer."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "If budget allows using the per socket license and not the agent based with per GB counter for Dedup is the way to go."
  • "There is now a subscription based licence option that, depending on your environment, could offer a more efficient method to licence the solution if you are OPEX cost driven rather than CAPEX."
  • "New licensing is easy and affordable."
  • "Licensing could be better explained. Sometimes, it's unclear what features are available in different licensing models."
  • "Compared to other competitors and vendors the pricing is fair."
  • "In my experience, compared to solutions like Veritas and Veeam, while they do have their technical pluses and minuses, Commvault can save you on average forty percent initially, and then twenty to twenty-five percent annually."
  • "The price could perhaps be lower as well."
  • "Our cost is around $20,000 per month. The previous year, it was around $30,000 per month. It now costs less because Commvault changed the licensing type for providers."
