We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The product helps me to see malware.""The logs in Cisco Stealthwatch Cloud are very good when doing the API integration in the team. It is able to give you important information for the correlations.""When it comes to scalability, there's no size limit. It varies based on licenses and requirements.""It tells you if there is any communication going to command and control servers, or if there is any traffic that violates your internal policy, or if any data hoarding is happening where data is being dumped from your machine to outside of the environment. It provides all such meaningful reports to help you understand what's happening.""Monitoring the traffic, making sure you have the visibility.""The tool's best feature is its ability to monitor network traffic. It will also inform users whether the traffic generated by a network is legitimate. The tool helps to capture and analyze the network traffic.""Cisco Stealthwatch Cloud is scalable because it is on the cloud."

"Extreme is transitioning to 802.11ax facilities running the 2G and the 5G cloud, allowing for higher density in education use cases, and ExtremeCloud IQ provides you with novel ways to manage everything. In the old days, you used to have a controller on-site for your access points, but everything is easier now.""The HiveManager integration with the VPN Gateway is awesome.""The cloud management gives us the tools and reports that we need to monitor and troubleshoot the network.""It allows me to see APs and clients that are having issues, allowing for faster support response and less downtime.""ExtremeCloud IQ is an intuitive platform. The tool's ability to streamline network operations depends on the end customer. Sometimes it's quicker, and sometimes it takes much longer. It helps me to address network problems.""App and firewall security at the AP.""It is more cost effective and gives more flexibility.""The most valuable feature is the centralized management capability."

Cons
"Cisco Stealthwatch Cloud could improve the graphical user interface. It could be a more user-friendly graphical user interface. so that. Not everybody's a cyber security professional, most of the customers that I deal with are not very skilled. The terms that they use in the solution are quite understandable for a normal CIO.""When I used to work on it, I just didn't see anything new happening for about a year and a half. Providing newer data and newer reports constantly would help. There should be more classifications and more interesting data.""The initial setup is a bit complex in terms of deployment and configuration""If we migrate these things to an event or send us an email if there is any critical event, I would like to configure these things on the initial launch. Because if a system is compromised, there will be a lot of data movement from one post to another post to the outside. Then, we should also get an alert on email as well. We have since we have integrated these things. But a direct email for critical alerts should be there. So, I would like to enhance the critical event configuration.""The product needs to improve its user-friendliness. It is very tricky and you need to study it before using the standard functionalities.""The product's price is high.""The initial setup of Cisco Stealthwatch Cloud is complex."

"The certification costs from suppliers are getting out of control, and it's not just Extreme. We have the same problem with Cisco and Huawei.""I would like to see more security features such as NAC integrated to the solution. This would allow customers to be able to control all other users under one dashboard.""From our perspective, we would love to see Aerohive provide faster feature enhancement in their Virtual Appliance to match the features with the cloud solution more quickly.""Having a wizard for customers who are just starting might be helpful.""I would like to see a remote phone application for monitoring APs when on the road.""The Virtual Appliance crashed once while doing an upgrade. The good thing here is, even if the management system fails, all our networks and features still remain 100% stable and working.""Need port aggregation on the 2384 switches to take full advantage of ac on the APs. I understand that is on their product road map.""Their firewall configuration gets funky and it can be difficult to understand."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "Cisco Stealthwatch Cloud is an expensive enterprise solution."
  • "The price of Cisco Stealthwatch Cloud is expensive."
  • "The solution is quite expensive."
  • More Cisco Secure Cloud Analytics Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "Although the pricing is a bit high, I consider Aerohive to be well worth the money."
  • "Buy near the end of Q4 in order to get a deal."
  • "Bring the cost down."
  • "I would advise that you be sure to compare apples with apples. Many customers just look at the price per AP and licences, and compare that against other solutions. But, they do not look at the complete picture such as: TCO - how much the equipment will cost you over, say, seven years? Will the customer need to change complete infrastructure when they want to buy the newest hardware? Does support include a lifetime warranty and RMA?"
  • "For example, if you compare Aruba vs Aerohive, you need to check which licences from Aruba you need to match the functionality of Aerohive (usually you need at least three types of licences and a controller with redundancy). The same goes with Cisco, where you need buy additional licences for central management, firewall, spectral analysis, WIPS, PPSK, etc. Aerohive has a very simple model - one licence for all the functionalities - and you can believe that there are many. One licence makes it easy to maintain, scale, renew and you can plan your costs 10 years in advance."
  • "Start small and grow big. You can choose the basic Aerohive Connect free subscription solution and, later, if needed (in terms of functionality) you can upgrade to Aerohive Select."
  • "There are probably cheaper solutions but we invest for stability and performance for the longer haul."
  • "I did a multi-year license. It was a three-year license. It compares well with others in terms of the price. It is about a hundred dollars per year on a three-year scale."
